Project Description

Share your process (and worksheets!) for developing a character.

Whether you have your own character that you've been working on or want to break down one of your favorites from a famous story, we'd love to hear your thoughts.

Download the Class Worksheets to use as a guide as you begin working through the steps:

  • Begin with the character's goal, motivation, and conflict
    • What do they want? Why do they want it? What's in their way?
  • Then, move on to determining their attributes
    • What is their age, ethnicity, and gender? How do these attributes work in tandem with their goal, motivation, and conflict?
  • Finally, bring everything together by interviewing your character
    • What are some starter questions? What are some follow-up questions that you can use to dig even deeper into who they really are?

Share your worksheets, insights you've gained from your interview, or any pieces of writing that you've begun.
