About This Class

In this course, you will write a great poem based on the theme "What I Do On My Down Time"

So often we do things in response to an experience, and inspired by an experience, and we don't record it. In this course you are going to think of something you do on your down time, and create a record of it, to revise in another draft (where needed) to be the first draft of your poem.  Before you write your poem, you will clearly define what down time means to you, and when have you experienced it.  It should take no more than 2 days to have a draft of your poem, that is close to being a final draft.  What is great about theme of this poetry course, is that you can write many poems on it.

The course also covers, how to find a subject for the theme, starting your poem, moving your poem along and ending your poem.  Students are encouraged to take notes, especially when listening to videos that gives tips.

For a more in-depth lesson in the areas of starting a poem, and moving a poem along, poets are recommended to take my course in beginning poetry.

This course is for the intermediate, to advanced poet. If you would like to take a lesson as a new poet, please contact me, about joining my course for new poets, or for a private course in Skype, or by email.

To greatly benefit from this course, the poet should have some understanding,  of using sensory images (using all the senses) in a poem.

Poets are encouraged to post their questions, in response to the video it is related to, or in our community section. Poets are encouraged to share their first draft, in the community, so they can receive feedback. I do not provide feedback for this course, by email.

Victoria Hunter

I am a poet, and that's a great thing!

My advice to new poets. Write as the snow falls, and in between the lines, in the pauses, crack open sunflower seeds.
