1. Why Should I take this Class?: one of the biggest challenges faced by people who were from home is establishing boundaries . I mean, after all, part of the allure of being your own boss or telecommuting is the freedom that comes with that right? But this freedom can be a double edged sword. You're also gonna learn why people fail to maintain high productivity levels, the real secret to success in business, several critical boundaries to establish in your business to ensure your success, how to establish a plan that is actually motivating to achieve. You're also gonna learn an alternative to establishing a traditional work schedule. You're gonna learn how to use the finished task list for confidence and motivation. You're gonna learn a simple way to ensure that you're successful as you apply what you learnt, and you're also gonna learn how to keep your boundaries fresh as you grow as a person and your business continues to evolve. So go ahead and roll now so you can learn how to be productive working from home wall, enjoying the process more. 2. Overcoming One of the Biggest Challenges You Will Face When Working from Home: one of the biggest challenges people have when operating a business from their home is setting in sticking to boundaries, boundaries between when you're working and when you're not working boundaries between what is and isn't acceptable during working hours. And unfortunately, the majority of people who work from home don't set these clear distinctions. And the net result is that many of them won't maintain the productivity levels necessary. Toe actually stay in business long term, and that's the key to success staying in business long term. So in this lecture, we're gonna walk through several critical areas to consider. And you're also gonna be provided with specific ways to put these teachings in this lesson into practice in your business immediately. Now the first area to consider. And if you don't have a pen and paper handy, should definitely grab Grab that and write this down. The first area to consider is working hours. Now it's very important to set a work schedule for yourself. There are many ways that you can do this, but the key is to make decisions ahead of time and then follow through on those decisions. Do the last thing that you want to be doing when you're in business for yourself is being reactive. Some people don't like to establish a working schedule. I mean, after all, what's one of the biggest reasons that people want to work for themselves in the first place? Flexibility. Right. So an alternative to creating a work schedule is to create what's called a finished task list. Now here's how this works. A finished task list is simply a list of tasks that must be finished during that day. Now, one slight variation on this is You could also say that these tasks must be completed within business hours or within a certain timeframe, so an example would be right. One BLAWG Post intro video edited one hour of full marketing. So essentially what you want to do is you want to start thinking what the end result is, and I actually go into a more detailed way of how to do this in the next video. But suffice it to say you just basically want to think of what is the end result. Don't just write down things like, you know, marketing. You want to be specific about it, whether that's a like I said, one hour of marketing or a certain number of let's say you're posting and Facebook groups or wherever. Let's say it's 100 posts, so you put down those end results that you want completed. Now, I would suggest that you go with a combo approach, and one thing that works really well for me is that I will create a finished task list and then I will specify working hours. So I do that the night before, and then I will wake up and I will get a few tasks completed right out of the gate. And this builds a lot of momentum and gives me motivation, because I know once that list is completed that not only will you feel good about how much you've already accomplished, but it also gives you the rest of your day to, you know, do whatever you like, free to do what you please. Now. Another important boundary is work area, and this is huge. Now you don't necessarily need to establish a place in your home that is designated for work, although that is ideal. But if you don't have a home office or a private space and your say working from your living room. You need to let the people you share your home with no that dearing working hours that they're not to disturb you or, at the very least, to keep distractions to a minimum. Now, obviously you want to do this with respect intact, because again, you're sharing your space with other people. But to give you an example, I have known people who work from home and they're roommates tend to not view them as working because they're at home. That's kind of Ah, common stigma when people work from home. People that don't work from home don't understand the distinction between when someone's at home working and when they're not. So it's very important that you have those boundaries and that you establish those with the people that you live with and that kind of ties in with the next part, which is establishing the boundaries for what is and isn't acceptable. And this includes first and foremost from yourself and other people while you're working. So what I want you to do is this. You can do this. You can pauses and do this right now, which is idea, or you can do it after the video, but I want you to take out of sheet of paper and create two columns on one side. You write acceptable on the other side, you write unacceptable, and these are examples of what is and isn't acceptable during the working hours or working schedule that you designate. So some examples of what is unacceptable might be things like going on Facebook, checking cell phone or texting frequent snacking. What about acceptable? Some examples of that would be going on break during designated time, checking email at designated time, getting up in stretching your legs once per hour. No, The reason why we're doing all of this is because the reality is is that when you work for somebody else, these sort of checks and balances air. These things are already in place as part of your as part of your job requirements, so you don't even need to think about these things when you work for someone else. But when you work for yourself these simple, basic things, you need to think of these things and have these things established ahead of time. You don't want to be trying to piece this together as you go sit down and do it ahead of time Now to make all of this work. Once you establish your boundaries, you're gonna need to adhere to those boundaries and practice complete honesty with yourself . Regarding if you're actually violating one of the policies or boundaries that you've set, you can always update your boundaries as you go, say quarterly or once per month at the most. But the key ideas that whatever boundaries you set, you want to stick to them. And this is really the rial secret to establishing a powerful home business success plan, which is again rigorously sticking to your boundaries so you'll find as you establish the right boundaries and begin to stick to them. Your confidence and productivity will continue to grow and grow to the point where you no longer have to think about it because you're beginning to form new successful habits.
