This course is not meant to give you a job in your industry, but this course shall make you aware of the kind of opportunities in the industry for a profession which you may have ignored or not yet acted upon. This course will help you the way you can approach for seeking that wonderful job in the yachting industry. So what do you think when you hear yacht. Typically, yacht is a rich man's leisure, as the cost of his or her luxury is exorbitant. A typical weeks travel on a luxury yacht could cost, say anything between the range of 10,000 U. S. Dollars to that of $1 million. But the cost of $1 million would be not too expensive for the likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic, who possess millions of dollars in their net worth. There are hundreds of yachts across the globe, and those can be distinguished based on size number of people. They accommodate status value. They bring aesthetic value. They are branded with etcetera. Yeah, travel may accommodate as less as 4 to 10 guests, but can also accommodate a group of 20 to 25 people with common interest. Some yachts are meant for accommodating large number of people. Let's say, for corporate parties with 100 to 150 guests on board, let's see different type of jobs available in yacht industry. Yacht jobs are very glamorous. For every newcomer, however, the extent of complexity and hard work makes it very challenging. On the face of it, these jobs look very attractive. However, after the actual experience, one can really make out the difference between hospitality industry of the highest grade, versus the typical 9 to 5 job in a bank or a government organization. It is important to note that these job roles are just indicative roles, and each yacht company may look for specific skills beyond or different than stated below. So let's take a case of captain who may be involved in many activities on the yacht, such as safe navigation and operation of the yacht budget management. Managing money and accounting on board decision making with regard to crew overseeing the upkeep of the vessel, taking control of repairs and yard visits, assuming the role of host and entertaining when necessary, manage refit projects. Let's discuss the role of made or first officer support captain by coordinating with all the deck team, especially steward or stewardess team safety of the yacht and everyone on board overseeing all deck operations and maintenance, supervision and preparation of toys on board, various administrative and safety beauties on board. Navigational passage, planning for the yacht, bridge, watch, etc. With good navigational abilities. Job role of senior steward or stewardess could include food service, drink service and bartending. Overseeing the cleaning and polishing of accommodation. Cabin preparation. Flower arranging, obtaining local currency arranging trips. Transport for guests generally on operations. Job, role of second steward or stewardess could include guest service meals and bartending cabin service and detail ing polishing, including glassware, flatware, silverware, refrigerated drinks, restocking, laundry of guest and crew. This may include initial purchase of the food items, transportation to the yacht, multi language, multi culture and multi cuisine skills to the preparation and final presentation on the table. Not only does this job, which includes purchasing stores and cooking, but enormous amounts of preparation and cleanup to ensure that the galley is kept in superb condition as well. Depending upon the size of yacht, a chef may work solo or he or she may work with some assistant chefs and possibly a crew cook. On the other hand, it may be the chef's responsibility to provide all meals to both guests and crew. Role of Deck Head may be involved with following activities. Cleaning, painting, sanding, fibreglass restoration, varnishing, polishing, finishing, carpentry, line handling, general exterior maintenance, driving tenders or toys escorting guests when they use the toys, helping interior staff serve meals or clean cabins. Occasional assistance with the chef in the galley role of a person could include following activities. Financial administration for the entire yacht, all operations of the Interior Department, interior inventory, interior purchasing and provisioning blazing with guests and all crew Orchestrating guest activities. Assisting captain with ships. Paperwork. Let's discuss on the indicative salaries of yacht crew. Now generally, yacht crew get a better pay than few other professions. However, before we begin on this topic, it is important to note that these salaries quoted are only indicative. Based on research of various zone and regions. However, the actual salaries could be much higher or lower than described below. Cook may require following certifications, specialty cuisine experience or a certification, say vegan or macrobiotic experience in fine dining establishments. Tender driving certificate. Deckhand may require following certifications, engineering experience or a certificate. Sports certifications such as dive certificate, kite surfing instructor, extensive fishing knowledge, tender driving licence, carpentry skills Let's begin on the topic of seasonal business of your travel and where you would get employed.
