1. Intro: in this glass, you will learn several techniques of fabric weaving, and you will be able to create a simple waiting like this with three colors of yarn to put it on your wall or give it to your friends, I will guide you step by step and give you the detail explanation. 2. Supplies: Okay, let's go over the basic supplies that we're going to need. So right here I have three colors of yarn. This is going to be enough for us. Wide, blue and pink don't have to be exactly the same colors. Pick whatever you like. Next. I have to looms. This one is the cardboard loom. It's very suitable for the kids. You can make it yourself. Basically, it's a piece off the cardboard. In my case, my child donated. He is Lego box. I made the notches on top and on the bottom. You will probably need a ruler to measure them, so they are exactly the same. So this is, Ah, handmade loom. Everybody can make it now. This one. I got it off Internet and it's a pretty big gloom has notches on the top and notches on the bottom. I will show you how to warp both of them. This one in this one. Next. Oh, you will definitely scissors the researchers warp thread and that you can substitute this thread with, um whatever color yard you prefer. But I just like to use this. Try 1/3 because it's theorist or itchy, and it's virtually invisible when you start weaving. And the last thing that you probably going to need, however, it's optional. These air called weaving needles and you see what's makes him special is it has a very large hole and they are also curved, which makes weaving easier. You can get them off. Aim a zone. Okay, let's start. 3. Warping the cardboard loom: All right, Now, let's go ahead and prepare the looms right here. I took a piece of a warp tied. You have to tide on the first notch, or you can tape it to the back off this cardboard loom. After that, make sure you guys can see you threat it down all the way down. All right, here and then you go into the next notch. Now was happening on the back. I'm gonna bring it a little bit closer right here. I'm very sorry for my nails. They don't look right. Its quarantine and I cannot get them done anyway. Right here, you can see the thread, so we're not gonna drag it all the way through the back. It's gonna take too much, Warburg. Just gonna do this little thing, okay? I'm doing the same. Going all the way up next one all the way down. Next one and up and down. And you continue away until the end of the cardboard and on the back. This is what is happening on the back. And I know it's You can't really see it very well because of there's a picture. But you can you have a journal? idea. There is no strings going in the back of it. So here, I'm going to stop. I'm gonna let you guys do it, and I will see in the next portion of the video where I will be warping the Big Loom, which, um 4. Warping the wooden loom: Okay. So hopeful. We have prepared the cardboard long right here. Now, for those who have a big loom or a smaller loom like this like a real loom, this is how we're going to approach it. The strings have to be really, really tired, so make sure you stretch them tightly. How we're going to start as you see right here. And I'm gonna go ahead and move it up closer to the camera. Once I handled it's not ready. I decided not to start from the very beginning. Just because it's gonna be too long or too big of a wedding. I'm inside it to one of the knots. I'm sorry to one of the notches. I think I left about 16 of them, so you would have to count the same amount you've left out on the top. It has to be the same amount on the bottom. Sold its 16 up there is gonna be 16 down here, so we're gonna go ahead and wrap it tightly over, not right here and then move it up. You're gonna wrap it over the next one. Keep it. Ties Keep the string tied all the way down as you see, I I skipped one notch right here. We're going to do the same thing time. Move it up, Skip one. Not right here. Move it down. Just make sure that your strings are parallel. I think mine are. You will see if you make a mistake. Like Look, I didn't skip a notch. I skipped one right here on top. I didn't skip one on the bottom and my strings air too close together on the bottom. You will definitely notice that. So make sure it doesn't happen. So it's definitely practice. People take practice. But even Julie, you will get used to it. All right. Now I'm gonna pause the video so I can make sure I worked this whole thing and I will see you in the next part. 5. Twining: The first technique that I'm gonna take you right now is gonna be called whining. I picked the urine of two collars just so it's easier for you guys to understand how it works. It doesn't have to be Two colors can be just one color. So the first thing that we are going to do if you are losing oh, using me scoreboard loom Thai bold careens onto the very first line right here, Done. If you are using the rial loom funny home saying the rial loom But it does feel but more riel. Your this one feels like a like a toy loom. Anyway, it's really gonna tie it on the first line in the first drink. And I know that these strings air kind of blended with my Corp it. But that's the best they can do as of right now. And I'm sorry. So here we go. They have blue in the bottom. We have wide on top would take the first of the blue one, the one that's on the bottom. In your case, that probably will not be blue just to remember that we're gonna take the string that is on the bottom and push it under the next one and this and pull it under the next one. Okay, Now, why does the white one is in the bottom? Right? So we're gonna take this white one and in the same manner, push it under the 2nd 1 I'm sorry, the next one. Second one, I guess, and it starts. It's starting to look like they are twisted. Now again, we have blue in the bottom. We will take this blue and push it under the next one, and that's when it's on top. Now why it is on the bottom. We'll take white. So this this line, this land we're gonna skip because we already have blue under it. But we have nothing under the following one. So we will go ahead and over the blue under the next line right here. I'm gonna push it hand and continue in the same manner I'm about to switch to my other. No, we always take the law. Auto yarn string a yarn from the bottom under from the bottom under. And, uh, we can see beautiful, twisted pattern emerging right here. Let me go ahead and switch to this loom again. Way have white on the bottom, right? Sweet. This one. The first line. We haven't not on it. So we'll take the 2nd 1 from the bottom under. That's when you can just hold. So it doesn't move. I assume it's a little bit feel. Okay, It's under. Now Blue one is on the bottom would take the next line. I'm just going to call them lines because essentially, they are the lines from the bottom. Should it back from the bottom. Sure the bet. As you see, I'm not using the needles. I'm just using my fingers. In this case, which game confirms that needles are optional, but they do make your life easier. I am this matter. So the your in my heart was pretty cheap on this little See right here. Made a mistake. I skipped the line. I'm gonna pull it back. Go right here. It also helps to hold the other string of urine so it doesn't get sucked in. So I was talking about the urine. It's cheap. It's probably about $3 per school. You can definitely find yarn cheaper. The main correct Syria. I used to buy my urine. It needs to be a little bit on the chunky or side because it's it's easier to work with thicker yarns versus then it you can do and talk thin there. Urals. Okay, so we made it old away through No, that can go ahead and turn. You can definitely stop right here, but I will. So I have blue in the bottom. I'll take it and, uh, I'm gonna put it under. Not under the 1st 1 but under the's 2nd 1 right here. Well, im doing it. You will see it in a second. No, I'm taking white. I'm gonna twist just a little bit in the opposite direction away from myself, and I will put it under the So this one has blue. This one that doesn't have anything. So we're gonna pull over here and please don't cut the urine. I mean, do cut the yarn. You don't want to work with the long strings. Just difficult to get tingle. I twisted a little bit more under the next one. Keep it here. You pull it. I don't see how it's on twisting. I kind of want to keep it twisted. It looks prettier now. Way. I don't know. So what's happening? We have this hearing that Chevron pattern happening right here, and we gonna work all the way in the opposite direction. So this one already has why you're in behind it. The following one doesn't have anything behind it. So we're gonna take the you're in peace of urine from the bottom and squeeze it behind the next one. White and balloon and white and blue in the following manner. Please complete this section. 6. Over-under with 2 colors: Okay, 1st 2 lines are completed, and we're gonna move on to the next technique, which is familiar to many of us, because it's a basic over hunger. But again, we will be doing it with two cars. Go hit him. Tie thes two strings on the first line right here would have not. I did it on both looms already started on this one. I'm gonna undo this. What we are doing, we're gonna go under the 1st 1 over the 2nd 1 and again, Over and under can over. This should be E. We just keep on you skip one. You go under the next one, you skip one, he go under the next one. And, uh, I'm not sure if I've mentioned and before, but this type of weaving is called tabby all the way till the very end on the cardboard loom. I'm working with my fingers, but on the Big Lou, I'm gonna show you how much easier it is to work would the needles. So I'm going with the first color I'm taking the next color, which is tied on the same side. And in this case, I'm gonna go under the very first string the one that we haven't. Not on the one that we tried it up too. Under that string and over the second string. Why? Because we had the previous caller under it, and it has to alternate. Says Gonna go under the third. So escaped One hand was squeezed it under away till the very end. Check yourself. Make sure you don't make mistakes. I'm gonna put this Loomis side in here. I have needles, so I'm gonna start with the pink color. Here we come under over, under, over. Picking every other one. A little pushing down. Don't forget you push it down. Don't pull the strings from the sides together like this. This is not what we want to happen is going to give it an hourglass shape That is not desirable. But please do push the strings together in this way. So the waving is tied, picking the next color in the same thing over and under. But we go in under the very first string. In this case, we went under the second string. Okay, here we go. So what we What we gonna do next? We're gonna grab again the pink color or whatever color you have on your case. And, uh, we're gonna go over the top line like victory, and again, we're gonna go. If it was under here under the 1st 1 we're gonna go under. That's your 1st 1 or the last one. And again, over under. Right old away. Right here. Now we're doing the same thing with another color. It goes over in this manner, and we're gonna Let's keep this 1st 1 go under the 1st 1 Oops. Going to go over the 1st 1 and under the sick and one. So basically, we are mimicking the pattern off. What? Where we had it previously. The same thing. You can get confused, just like I got confused a couple of seconds ago, but it's really easy to figure out. Okay, So what's happening? What will have, um, these vertical straps going up pink, blue, pink, blue, pink, blue. It's gonna look really, really pretty. So once we are on this side, we will take the pink again. We'll take the one that's on the bottom, right, starting from the bottom and begin. See how it went under the 2nd 1 The same thing going to go under the 2nd 1 And after that, it's just automatic was Keep one and we pick one under over, which in the end, Okay, it has to go. We're looking right here under the 1st 1 Open the 2nd 1 Check yourself. Don't go old away. Check yourself. See, I missed. No, I fixed it and it's zoom it up a little bit. Yeah, squeeze them together. So continue working in this manner a way up as much as you want you. I would recommend you go about this much. Or maybe another 4 to 5 inches. 7. Over-under process: 8. Tucking: Okay. I have finished about this much off my leaving. Have some tails left right here. Some tails left on the bottom. So I'm gonna go hair, flip this loom and show you guys how to talk the ends. Now, if you do not have needles, it will be a little trickier for you. However, it's still possible to be done. But if you are having a really, really hard time, just tie knot and don't struggle. Okay, here we go. Silman. And so we will go ahead and please do not go the full depth. So it doesn't show on the opposite side. But just pull up a little bit of it. The next one, just maybe one of want to tiny threads. And this is how we will talk them in. Maybe even a little deeper. Now, if waiting is something that you really want to do long term, it might be useful and wise to invest in the needles. They are not expensive. It'll I think they're about $6. A name is own. I cans. Double check right now. Put. You can find them. They cheap. He sold in packs. You can share them with friends But if you don't want you into this long term, it doesn't matter. Don't buy them. Okay, here we go. This is how we took him. Same thing they would do with these threads. Or let's go ahead. Try not. Well, it's you hear and living like this just cut it. Cut its real close to the Not. However, I might try and pull some friends right here. I really cannot do this. And I don't expect you guys to have long nails like I do. But your other option would be to cool separate threads and chuck them under just like this . But please make sure nothing is hanging and there's no loan threats on the side. 9. Preparing tassels: Okay. I have finished this march. As you see, I've added another raw two rows of twining on top. So is the same on the bottom and on the top. Or you will see later. Basically, this is our top. When this is our bottom, this point doesn't matter. We need to add the tassels to make it look really, really pretty. So footed. Tassels. We will need white yarn or whatever you are you prefer to use. I'm gonna use this white hearing, and as you see, I tucked in the blue yarn and I left this white yarn hanging. Why? Just because I don't really need to tuck it in, it's gonna blend with the tassels. So what we are going to do, I'm going to cut about. Let's say so. 12 inches. Right here. We measured. My ruler is 12 inches. Move away cooler further away from the camera. So this is one. We're gonna fold it, and that's another 12 inches. So this is to And then we was to hold these and this is three. So we have 3 12 inch pieces of yarn. You don't have to cut them right here just yet. Cut them once got the ones and set them aside somewhere carefully, we get into the next one. 12. Well, so basically, I'm No, I don't even have to measure them all the time. One time you can measure one time and then just keep fooling you until you have one. We are preparing for the tassels. Another one. So here we go. 12. So hold it right here and then three. And I'm gonna cook. And no one you will need more than this. But at some point, I just personally have to stop because the video would be really endless. All right, let me show you first. Own the cardboard loom how it's gonna look. So I have about this much weed. Wait. 10. Tassels: Okay, So this is what we are going to do. We're gonna take 1st 2/3 take our tassel future tessalit right here, slided behind the first shoe. Slide your finger in the middle between the two. Pull out a loop, hold it with another hand. If that's convenient, that's comfortable for you. Sled the right till in slut sled. The love tale in carefully pull both of them and tighten up. Not. I want you full stop like this. We live like that one down several times just to make sure it's tight and slide it all the way down. Okay, this is your first tassel. Now, onto the next one will take next to slotted behind the to put your finger in between, make a loop, right and lift and inside of it and tighten it up. I know it's a little weird. You get used to it. They don't have to be internally perfect, either. Just when you tied in, don't forget to hold the strings and slide it down. Okay? Those are the tassels. When we flip the weaving, they will be like this. Okay, so I'm gonna show the same thing on the on the big move right here. I got a little Okay, I would take the 1st 2 No, in between. Pull the look between the 1st 2 right tail in was still hold. Would try to hold the loop open. Right. Left tail in Titan. All right, 1st 1 is ready. Next one. Next to right here. Behind the two. Slide your finger in between. Pulled the loop. Hold the loop. Right, Teoh inside of it. Hold it open. Left sale inside of it even now, The tales, if possible and pool. Okay, here we go. No, we need to count How many choose. We have just to make sure that we will not have to skip a line that have tomb. They have to Has to be an even amount to To Chu. Shoo! Shoo too. So we could Sometimes the amount is odd. Make sure you check, so we would have to skip one of the strings. I tried to check it before you get to the end, because if we skipped the string on the very and it's not gonna look good, and weaving may fall apart. So go ahead and finish the raw off tassels at this point. 11. Tassel process: 12. Finishing the weaving: Okay, so now I have a full roll off vessels. I cannot leave them like this. I need to finish up this waving, putting the fuel lines off regular tabby. So, basically, this is what we do. We do it Basic. Over. Under. Go under. Over under, over. Under Over with just one color. That school is gonna be white, so it blends in in the baseboard. We don't have to took it in congest tied. Should have tassels forget to push down. This is pretty simple. The easiest technique that's out there said, goes over right. Go under it. If the previous role finished up with over, the next one is going to go under and the 2nd 1 was under. So we're gonna go over just to remind you guys que And honestly, if the previous technique what two collars was too difficult for you, you can just do it with one color. - Okay , I think this is good enough. I have about 123456 rolls. This is good. I'm gonna go ahead and tie these two ends in a knot. Cut him and here we go. Now, the next couple of videos we will be finishing this weaving. We will also put it on a dowel so you can hand it hanging on the wall. I think our dowel is going to be a pencil. So I'll see you in the next video where we will be working with these strings and the strings on the bottom. 13. Taking off the loom: All right, let's go ahead and we will be cut in these strings in twos just like this and tying them together on a double or triple, not just to make sure the weaving doesn't fall apart. This is a fairly quick process. Do not pull to hard because it will deform the willing. It's a very gentle process as well. So we're just gonna go ahead and try it away, and I'm going to start here from the back just because I don't want this whole waiting to be hanging from these last strings. But it's up to you. Honestly, I know I'm were confessed. I know not everybody is gonna be as fast as I am, which is fine. You need to take your time. Make sure you to in wallet, see job without being first. The only reason I'm doing it quickly because I do not want this video to be too long trying to and the waiting is almost off the loom. Let's go ahead. And, uh but these strings a little bit. Two shorts. This is good enough. This part as well. All right, So the next step, basically, if you look at the bottom see if I can show you right here. It will come off naturally, let's say And the what we have re here is the loops. Now there's several ways old attaching the double. Show them. First of all, you can just slide the pencil and I'm saying the pencil because the easiest thing to find looks like a dowel. I think this so can be can be hanging off. 14. Attaching to a pencil/dowel: what you guys also can do, you can caught cook the loops and that that's how you will have two ends of a string and you can tie it to the pencil. Basically, you will have it right here. If I had longer and on this side, I would be able to side into the pencil and leave them like that. Or just easily. You can squeeze them in the loops. After that, you can grab another piece of string, tried to the pencil with a not in one side, and then do the same thing on this side. I'm just showing you a quick demonstration, and that's going to be how it's going to be hanging on the wall. Well, then they'll okay, all right. I really hope you guys will attempt to try this weaving. Please post the results. I want to see how it comes out. And if you have any questions, feel free to ask the questions. I will do my best to help you. All right. Good luck
