Hello, I'm Esther.

I have always enjoyed art from a very young age. My first form of proper arts education started at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Singapore), where I took a course in Western Art. I have since held various roles in the art industry such as an Assistant Art Director, to a freelance graphic designer later on in my career.

In 2015, I took an interest to watercolour and brush calligraphy, picking up the skill on my own. My background as a graphic designer has helped me create artwork, designs and publishing. I have published 2 books - ‘Lush & Blooms’ and ‘A Guide to Floral Watercolour’ and my second book was sold out within 4 months! I had reprinted my book, ‘A Guide to Fl... See full profile

I hope youll be able depend this pretty condition with Brett. Beautiful colors of your choice. I can't wait to bring this cluster you and see your creations hope to see uses 2. Art Materials: Hi, guys. I'm so glad to be back today. I'll be teaching you what? The color carnations, step by step that's in the sweet. And as usual, we need brushes and I'll be using Princeton Heritage Set, Shader number 10 and Princeton, however, teach. Let's shed a number eight, and if you like smaller floors, you can use number six or even smaller one. But for this purpose are using bigger brushes and for papers. Are we using start 300 gram Co pressed 50% cotton papers cut in tow if I sizes and next, I'll be using shikimic horrid, um, acquire opinions. Choose the colors that you like to use. I'm Josie, a range of purple and red hopping, and I have some greens. A. So I like color green and a dark color green. For this lesson, I will not be showing you the swatches and will be going into the class almost straight away after this. And as usual, we need to just of water. One is for washing your brushes, which is the bigger one, and one is to get the clean water. So without further ado, I'll see you in the next lesson. 3. How to Paint Leaf With Flat Brush: Hi. Welcome back. What do this lesson? I'll be teaching you live stroke the threat brush. And if you have my book A guide to Flora. What? The color You can turn to pitch 99. But I have all the instruction on the basic strokes. We fret, Rush. So let us get started visible. You need to know about your brush. I'm using a number 10 now. And for a friend brush, you just have to determine the hell Onda toe. The one facing you will be the toe. So when I talk about heel and toe US industry from this book, he'll told you would know what I'm talking about. So we will have the two colors I'm using a just a light green and attack green so you can trust any green that you like. I'm gonna teach you. Just be one tone Leave struck first. So we look our pain fully with this one color and holding my brush at about 75 degrees. Begin on the toe off the brush, which is the site, and I, Chris and I got a leaf once again begin on a tour of the brush, apply pressure and slick away from you to what's you do you want a little bit? Maybe you can turn it for some We This is a league, or you can practice this way. Every time you lift up, there will be a shock tick. But not to worry about whether having shocked it will not as long as it looks like one lead . It's OK, so this is full. The one color. So now I'm gonna teach you for the two color for the two color you. Justin, look your brush fully with the light green. And I have my para lingering here. I just have it press up from my job and I looked it on the toe off my brush and I blend it . If that's not enough, I get a bit more and I blend it on my payment one site and sleep my brush to another site. He So now I do the same step. But the two colors Can you see this? So, for the two colors every time, if you don't have enough Ping, you can just look to see whether you can still get it. Okay. In this case, I still can't get it. But you get messy. You have to wash your brush to redo again. All right, So do practice on easily shop, and I'll see you soon. 4. Painting Carnation Petal: we'll come back for today's lesson. I'll be teaching you fan shapes took like this, and I'll teach you how to look the fed brush. He will be on pitch 104 off my book, a guide to floor with the color visible. Well, sure that your brashness moist but not too wet. So tap it lightly on the kitchen power and I'm going to load it on the hill of my brush. This pain is just freshly squeeze up. Hey, this looks good. So I let you check first. This is good and for a friendships took firstly heft the pain loaded there's on top and hold about 75 degrees with the loaded colors on the top. A price pressure and I regard a little bit. You see me regarding my brush right and slept from one site to another site. So I got a friendship. But I like to do one more time. Show more scallop, So I'm reloading my brush again. For every petters that you do, I'm afraid you have to reload it So this reloading is very important. So I let you to see one more time. So it about 75 this anger. So, uh uh uh Up in now, Ryder Rieger, you can stop her. Why did you tell you so? I have this shape. Okay, which is similar to this? So we have this. I like their toe practice. A big law on this so you can watch one more. Come. The blending on the palate is important if you want. Not Pickman. You have to get more. But this one I think it's a little bit too. Blender. If you want something like that, make sure that it is just water. As I mentioned earlier. Not too much What They're Cleary. Get your pin and blended. This would be very good. Don't blend too much for us. All the pain will land on your palette again. So one more time Rieger down. You can stop this. Ice it. Okay, so we get one struck again. So I like you to practice on. This friendship stopped because it's very important. You may have to take about at least 15 minutes to practice this friendship stroke. So I see you later 5. Step by Step Painting: Hi. Welcome back. So this is the lesson that you have been waiting for. How the pain carnation step by step. And I do hope that you have practice your friendship stroke. Because this is how you're going to pain the carnation with all the years Pettus. So let's get started. I'm gonna use one color for this condition. So once again, Oh, the practices that you have done make sure that your brushes then and the thing that stroke preparing them, he I'll be working step by step in this week. This is the first drop, which you have practice. So if you wonder scale up to be high, you move up if you want it low. And for every friendship, I'm afraid I need to reload it. So I'm going to work on three off such one, if not in up in. Just go back to reload it. So I have to, and I'm gonna work on no one. My pain is do good. So I can just paint a tough one. So I need you to check on the ship. Okay. The ship goes to serie, so now I'm going to work on five more petters. 1234 foot and there's some over election here, so I'm going to pain. Andi. Yeah, Once again, you have to reload every time your pain bees. So this time around is spec one to one more time. You need to re looked. It's a little bit so I just had a bit more water to my cool area. I have four ready. Who adding a bit more pain and finally I wrap it up with this, the last one. And now we have to work on the inner side off the carnation. So you see, as I say, if you already know how to paint this for stroke, it will be quite easy for this one. You can switch to your number eight brush are a smaller brush, and I'm gonna pee in the inner repping here. Just over left a bit and one more. I hope you are enjoying this session learning this new condition with me. You can get the more you unit. So something like this, it's a bit more so After this, it would be quite difficult up industry. So my suggestion is you turn your paper in order to see how the pain so I need to rep it up some smaller one. I'm lost to using a number eight. Okay, this one. That loading is very good, so I can paint a few around. So remember, just re go up and down if you I want to see even more off that because the condition is very rapid. Okay, the petals are very rough, the smaller one. So I'm going to wrap up a little bit more here. So I have a condition that just like this one, if I find it, the center here is still not enough, g. I would get a bit more. There you go. So you can always get more. You can train yourself to appeal this way or so. Yeah, So I have one condition done with this week. So I hope you can practice this condition with just one stroke that we love and they just go round and round. So I see you soon for the next lesson, which I'm going to show you how to pay Incarnation, Bouquet 6. Side Carnation: for today's lesson. I'll be teaching you how to wreck a carnation, that it's at the site. So I have a really painted this site Carnation. They actually step three or four off. How I taught you the pain conditions step by step in the previous Listen. Just used a green and you wrap it up the sea high rep. This again. Is that one too, Kareen? Three strokes. And how do we paying the Leafs? Okay. The condition leaves is a bit long so you can paint it. This me using the bistro, That is, if you want a pain just once the or condition. But I think but in this lesson, I prefer you to pin your condition in the bouquet so you can practice painting this. But I think you need about five minutes to practice this and I'll see you back in my last lesson. How to pain carnation bouquet 7. Carnation Bouquet: welcome back. So in this last lesson, I'll be showing you how you can pay in your conditions. Bookie. And there's some symposia and you'll see that in most of my condition. Okay, I paint it three conditions. This one, I have five. A smaller one here. So how do I compose a carnation bouquet? Visible eye pain, Two carnations. So they are close to one another and I paying a psych elation just next to it. And after that, I was starting with the lease for this. I'm using a bit round brush, and then I use my friend brushed up in the sleeves. And this is my like a secondary leafs. They're all branching up, just coming up from the conditions. And I have some shadow leaves. This can share dough leaves. So I have one will keep to learn a little bit on clearing off leaves. You can look up in my addicts can share carrasco filler flowers and leaves. Let me show you some more samples as how I compose it for this one. I use a more vibrant orangey colors. And I looked with two colors for this piece. I have three conventions again, but this time I have to side conditions and instant off the broad leaves. I have equal Oppa's. So I have equal powers pain this way, and I have the lights of one. I quite like this composition and the colors to It's very vibrant. And the next one let me just discussed with you again. So I have one big one and a little bit off a site. One coming this way and one falling, dropping carnation and some smaller one here. Okay, I was so wrecked up for this one, you can actually work on a tree. Small pet, those like these, or even one to just wrap it up. So this composition can be either portrait. Oh, it can goes landscape. So I have other sent first year. Very simple one. Just a smaller. The cut like a a six cut and you just pain three conditions. And this can be a little cut for your mama. So I hope you do it. Learn how to paint this condition from other steps I have taught you and I will be giving you up. India, fall off this so that you can print out and refer to the steps and pain this condition bouquet. I hope you enjoy this class.
