Design Brief:

Paint your own Magnolia blossoms botanical illustrations, post the pictures of your artwork to the project of the class.

Optional, post the pictures of the art supplies you used and your art space, pictures of the work in progress and write about your project - I love seeing the behind the scenes and reading your stories. 

I created a magnolia blossom Pinterest board for your inspiration, please use the pictures for inspiration only the pictures may be subject of copyright.

List of supplies:

  • Watercolor paint - I use "White Nights" watercolor paints by Nevskaya Palitra Cadmium yellow, Magenta (or Alizarine Crimson, or Carmine red, or Ruby), Ultramarine blue, Sepia.
  • Watercolor paper
  • Medium round watercolor brush
  • Small round watercolor brush
  • (optional) Large round watercolor brush for background painting
  • Paint palette, with large well or a teacup )
  • Paper towel
  • Water
  • Pencil
  • Eraser
  • Office paper for sketching, any kind of inexpensive paper )
  • Sharp color pencil - purple, magenta, brown or dark green
  • (optional) White ink, white gouache paint 
  • (optional) Sketching tape + artboard to stretch the paper if you decide to add the background 
  • Camera or scanner to take photos of your artwork
