He gives a great beginning video for anyone who is a beginner or not. It iis good refresher on hs water color techniques: paper, brushes, paint, use of rags , water and how and when to use each one. You will see hs use of brush strokes to lay down water, paint, rags and tissue and how to use them to pick up the paint or soften edges. You will also learn how to create reflections, know when to let the paper dry and how to rewet it if you stop painting for the night. I could go on and on about how much he teaches in a very few short videos. You can't go wrong taking the time to watch him. I know I will watch him again.
Comprehensive explanation of misc watercolor techniques for beginners.
As someone who does mainly detail work, I had quite a few "ahhh, I see" moments while watching Ron's demonstrations of painting larger landforms and skies, which take larger washes of color.
Ron gave very clear instructions in this class. He made sure I had the materials I needed. Best of all, Ron's feedback to me and other students taught me a lot about art and about making art with watercolor. He was available to help me and other students and always encouraging. If you follow his directions to get the right materials and stop the video as you paint along you will be happy with your first watercolor landscapes. I was.
Love Ron's teaching style. It's very simple to follow along, but he also knows a ton about technique, history, and art in general. I loved his other water-colour course as well. I liked the trailer too, it's like a mini art history course. Definitely recommend and find this to be a very relaxing course with lots of useful tips and great presentation.
