Project Description

Project Description

479f802b

Your project for this class to paint a fox in watercolor. You can use the line drawing that I have provided to trace onto your watercolor paper or you can paint a different fox.

Please make use of the element of texture in your painting by:

  • using salt.
  • painting deliberate blooms.

I am eager to see your results so please upload scans or photos of your foxes on the 'All Projects' page.

One of the reasons I recommend using Arches paper:

I recommend using Arches paper because it has a slow absorption rate. I work fairly wet when I paint in watercolour and Arches paper allows me plenty of time to work with the paint before it is absorbed into the paper.

If you are using a different paper you may have difficulty keeping your paper wet. Therefore, if you are having difficulties with your paper drying too fast then wet a smaller area and keep your paint well within the boundaries of the water. Then wet the next section with water and continue on.

I demonstrate this technique in my Watercolour Chrysanthemum class when I paint the background. Watch video 40 - 'Painting the Background.'
