1. Intro: Hi. My name is Golan. Are I'm assaulted, Artist. And a pain was Watercolors Oil Inc. And in this cost, I will teach you how to paint water droplets with watercolors. In the first part of the class, we will focus on the core principles and the basic so that we can learn how to pain what droplets on the white background. And then in the second part of the class, I will show you how to paint with droplets on a colored background so that you can see how water takes the collar off the surface. It's on. Please feel free. Thank you so much for taking this class. Hi, my name is Gulnara and I must thank you how to paint. What a troubling water droplets. Why don't droplets? We've got it Colors 2. Sketching water droplets: Okay. Lets start sketching on water droplets when you sketch heard water droplets making different shapes and sizes. But stick to the oval shape for the drops themselves and for the drop lady can make them, um, kind of like a triangle shape, as you can see, a pretty along with three of them using heart graphite pencil. Don't put too much pressure on your pencil so it doesn't leave indentations on the paper. And so that it also much easier for us to erase it from the paper. Now that he sketched all our drops, I'm gonna go and erase them just slightly. Since we're using white background, we don't want the graphite to show through the water colors. Eso just lately raised the first layer, so they're just kind of so you can only see to see what of them. And now we're ready to paint out what droplets 3. Droplets on White Part 1: Now let's start painting water droplets. I'm using Payne's gray for all of my drops on the white background. As always, Start was very worried. Consistency and I'm using sites. Trayvon brush the size of the brush depends on the size of your water drops and also how confident you are with the brush itself. I will be painting a lot of drops so that you can have a good number of examples. Let's go over the main rules. Number one, pick your light source for these drops. My light source in there is in the right top corner of the page and number two make sure all of your drops you like, reflect the same angle of the light source. So now how do you make them reflect? There are two parts to realistic, realistic looking water, drop, shadow and infection. The shadow can be hard or stop, depending on how close you are to the light source. In my case, I'm going to make a hard shadow. That means there will be no great into it. And on the other end, reflection will have a radiant so divide you dropped in two parts. Since my light source is on the top on the top right corner. That means my shadow will be in the left bottom edge off the drop, while reflection will be on the opposite end on the white top edge was that in mind? My right top age will start with a darker shade of pains, great and slowly grading out to the white off the surface, where the solid shadow begins. When you start painting, you can start with the shadow, always the reflection. It doesn't matter whatever. It makes it easier for you. And in this episode, and in the next one, I will show you both ways. In order to make Grady painted. Fenlon was darker tone of pains, great, and then, by adding water, I dragged the color down, but it turned out to paint of the whole drop completely. Since my A surface is so white, I want to leave a sliver of it so that there is a space for the life source to bounce off the paper. And since we can't paint it as what as the paper itself off, you couldn't go ahead and use the white off the paper. If you have too much pain, do not worry. Grab a piece of people, Tell and dab Dab it. You will see me doing it quite a lot. The this technique is called lifting the color. And if your subject is too small and you don't have a small brush, lifting cholera will help you achieve a good Graddy. You will see me dry my brush a lot on paper. I do it to first make sure that my brushes clean off color and also to have a better control of the pain on the paper sometimes in you to add it to add a little more water to the paint. And sometimes you need to take it off. People tell is your friend when you paint with watercolors to definitely use it? Okay, I'm going to let you focus on the media. And welcome was more notes in the next wave. 4. Droplets on White Part 2: in this video, I'm painting more drops and here a few more notes. So how big should remake the radiant? I'd say to start of the drop is a good size. And how big is the shadow? It depends on the angle over your light source. For example, when the sound is at its peak, we have almost no shadows over a thin ones. But at four PM, the shadows are longer because son is at a lower angle. So what do you paint your shadows? You can decide how long you want them to be, but make sure all your drops have the same size and the same angle way drops. You will notice that I start painting them was the Grady and first, and then I had the shadow. If you do that, make sure the Grady and drives before you add the shadow so that the shadow doesn't bleed into the radiant. Ideally, you want a sharp, thin edge to the whole drop. In the next video, I will show you how to paint along trucks 5. Long drops on White : now for long or running drops. The same rules apply as for the over one's way, still need to add the shadows in the reflections at the same angle as for the Adams, but a few things to keep in mind. First, do not close the top off the drop. You will see that I'm using a lot of water to Grady and out the color. If you look at running drops, you will notice that they leave a little trail behind. And that is why we don't know. Want to close it either. The shape of the great any similar to the oval drops on Lee here. It's not an oval shape, but it mimics the shape off the drop itself. You will have more of a round shape to the great and at the tip of the drop, because this is one and becomes found again. You can either start with the great and always the shadow for these. I started with the great in, and I let them drive first before I out of the shadows. It will also notice that I go back to make McGrady and darker after pain to shadow. You want the darkest at off the grid and matched the tone off the shadow. That is your starting point off the grand in itself, in the tone value. And in the next video, I will show you how to add the final touches to the drops to make them pop. 6. Final details on droplets on White: Now let's make our drops pop what these people need to use either white gel pen or white ink. Or, if you have white Guare's, you can use that as well. I'm using white ink and a size zero round brush. We will be adding the white spots to the darkest portion off the radiant at the angle of the light source. Since our light source is in the top right corner, we will make our spots also in the right top corner of each drop. Make them small and different insights. You can add one or two or three, but do not put too many for smaller drops. Just one is enough for long drops. You want to add these spots also in the right side of the radiant. It can make them a little longer as well, since again we want to mimic the shape off Drop way. There you have it. We have our beautiful sparkling water droplets. Now we campaign them on the colored background, and in the next video I'll show you how 7. Droplets on Blue and Grey Part 1: for this portion of the class, I will be teaching you how to pain drops on two different color backgrounds with three different shades. I painted service was mineral blue and Payne's gray and made a great I also already sketched drops the same way I did in the beginning, off the class on Lee. I didn't raise them since I drew them. Pretty light in the background is dark enough for all of these drops. Double Star was painting the reflection first. Then I will paying the shadows and then I'll go back and make the reflections a little darker. Lester was. The lighters drops first. They're sitting on pure mineral blue background in their very pale. That means I will need to use only mineral blue and in a match, water and consistency. When you paint drops on colored backgrounds, you need to use the colors of the surface because this is what the water will reflect again . I make the grade in about two sorts of the drop, and I try not to color the bottom left edge of each drop because this is where the light will bounds off the surface. Now that we're moving into darker blue background will make our Grady and darker as well, some adding more pigment to my minutes from my mix and less quarter. In the section we have two colors mix. We have mineral blue and pains. Great. That means my water droplets will have to have the same makes in its great but darker. So you will see me makes these two collars for the great end as well. - And now we're in the gray section of the background. That means we will only use Payne's gray for our droplets. Make the mix much darker than what we had in our in the beginning of our class because no surface is not white anymore. - Now that we have our reflections painted, we will move on to painting our shadows in the next video. 8. Droplets on Blue and Grey Part 2: Now we will add shadows toe all of our drops in the same way we did in the beginning of the class. My light source isn't right up corner off the color and background. That means shadows are on the left bottom. Match of age. Drop on Lee. Now we need to match the shadow color to the surface. That means light blue drops will have lighter shadow than the dark blue drops, so make the mix of mineral blue more watery for the former and darker for the latter. Again, do not forget to make a heart shadow if you're following my example for the drugs that said, on the mix of blue and great, we need to mix mineral blue and pains. Great, and paying them was dead necks. And for the drops that sit on the gray surface, use Onley Payne's gray for the shadows. Not that we painted the shadows and the reflections. Let's take a look and see if they work together, remember the darkest portion off the Grady and has to match to our shadows. And if they did not make either the Grady and darker oldest shadow, whichever is off to bring to the same value. You will see me and go over all of my grade Ian's and making them darker. Take a look at yours and see what you're suggesting. In the next video, we will go over how to paint long drops. 9. Long drops on Blue and Grey: depend along drops. We need to combine what we're learning. The prior videos, the reflections and the shadows will be in the same places as with the long drops on the white background and the colors and values off the shadows and reflections will be the same as was the oval drops on colored backgrounds that means your grade and should be of the same color as the surface blue on blue and gray and gray again. Do not forget, not too close the top edge off the drop. Leave the trail, paint the grading first, let it dry and then add the shadow. Then take a look and see the values match. If not, adjust also. If you're painting a lot of drops like me, you need to make sure all your shadows off the same value and all your great aunt's of the same value as well. Feel free to go back and unjust any drop you see out of place. If it is too light. Animal color virus to dark lift was water in. People tell in the next video I will show you how to add the final details to our drops 10. Final details on droplets on Blue and Grey: in this video, we will add sparkle store drops at was by drop. Issue can use either white pen a white Think I'm again using white ink because it is more opaque and more solid, and we'll make sparkles brighter as before. You want to add sparkles to where the light source comes from. Since this is veritable buns off the water, in my case, it will be on the top right edge off the drop. I'm making them at a curve because I water drop but have a dome like structure. We want to highlight that again. Do not overdo it of a sparkle that small and add more If you like it way have it out droplets on a color background king to life. 11. Final Result :): I hope this cost was helpful and you enjoyed it.
