About This Class

In this class I will show you several ideas for Valentine’s Day illustrations which you can turn into beautiful cards or anything else you'd like! I include free brushes as well as my favorite Procreate 5 brushes, and other downloads that provide everything you need to create wonderful Valentines. I'll be showing you how to use layer masks, clipping masks, and so much more. You'll need to have some basic skills for using the Procreate app and then you're ready to go!

1. Intro: I hope you can join us for this class. We're We're learning all sorts of different Valentine illustration ideas, and they'll be free brushes, free pallets and some free backgrounds. So I hope you can join us. I'd love to see what you can create with the little tips n tricks that I show you in this class. I'll also be showing you my favorite procreate Five brushes like this Lara Poona See in the next video. 2. Downloading Resources: I get a lot of questions about downloading. The resource is for classes. I'm going to show you how to do that in one of my other classes, and hopefully that will help with some troubleshooting. Some of the things that I've learned is you have to be using your iPad in this landscape mode. If you haven't turned to the portrait mode, you can't get to. The resource is I'm not sure why. Also, if you're using the app you can't get to. The resource is so in landscape mode in whatever browser you like. I'm assuming that the browsers should be similar. Go to the class, go to projects and resource is, and over here you'll see the downloads. So for this class, I have a brush set, and I have, um, these two palettes, they say. Dots watches these air pallets that will load into procreate. So if you tap on that in safari, this is what you'll get. You'll get a window that says Download. And then up here, this little down arrow with the circle. Emmett just quickly showed a little bouncing arrow down and a little progress bar, and it's showing, um, the brush said. It says Jen, winter class, because that's what I called my brushes. So if you tap on that, it'll open up in files in the download section. So files looks like this right here, so files and then downloads. And then here it is right here. Step on that and it imports right into procreate. When you go into your brush library, it should be at the very top. So that's how you do your brushes for the swatches tap download. Here's the 1st 1 switch, and here it is right here. So if you tap on that, it imports. And then if you go into your colors into your palate list right here, it puts it at the very bottom. So I'm not sure why they put pallets at the bottom and brushes at the top, but that is where you should be able to find it. So these templates are procreate files. So if you tap on one of those same thing, download top the download button and this when it's appropriate file, it'll import right into your gallery, so it's right there. So this Valentine class does have all three of those things. It will have this procreate file right here. It'll have a brush set, and it will have six color palettes. Let me show you here. So I've just put together and I have separated them, which is why they're six. There's only three in three sets. These air complete sets right here in each of those, just so I can keep them a little separate from each other. So Valentine 12345 and six. All right, that's how you do your downloads. Hope that helps. 3. Creating a Canvas and Importing Fonts: I wanted to quickly show you how to create a campus. That is exactly what you need it to be. I'm just going to use five by seven ratio and doubling the size to tend by 14 for Valentine cards. Just so I have the option of having something bigger to print. If you have fewer layers five by seven at 300 d. P. I is plenty. You just won't be able to print it too much bigger than that. I bet you able you're able to go smaller. So if you tap the plus sign here and then the plus sign here, you can come in and, um, make all sorts of adjustments to exactly how you want your campus to be. So I always go two inches for the width. I'll just do 10 inches and for the height, 14 inches just to give me that five by seven ratio. 300 d. P I. For my iPad. That gives me 38 layers. If you have a regular iPad, it will have fewer layers. So, um, the Valentine activities don't really use a lot of layers. If you have more than 10 you'll probably be OK. otherwise, maybe go back down to five by seven and just call it good. The five by seven is just the ratio amusing because it's a pretty common card size. Here in America, you can look up all sorts of different card sizes, or, if you're printing at home, maybe you're going. Teoh went to buy some envelopes first and print to a size that fits those particular envelopes. Um, that's all there's. There's so many different ways. You can print cards and have cards printed that you'll just need toe to figure that out before you start. So just for simplicity will stick with this ratio tap create. So now that you have done that, it's going to be in your list. So if you look go ahead to the plus sign and look down at the bottom, you'll see this 10 by 14. I didn't title the campus, but you can do that. If you swipe here, you can edit and tap on this untitled canvas and just card. You can say five by seven. That might be confusing, since it's actually 10 by 14 Um, card, 300 d p i. And then we have it right there. I always write the DP I in the title so that I'm aware when I go back and look at it. If you don't do that in the title, you you can find it still, if you go in to your canvas and go to the wrench tool canvas canvas information, you have all sorts of information here that you can look up, um, for that particular canvas. So there is your five by seven ratio. We'll be using it this way and this way. If you haven't used the text in procreate, you just go to the rich tool and add text. Type your word or type all of your words and then edit style. And over here you can choose from different funds different styles of that font and play around with the settings and go bigger. If it pops don't like that, you can just increase the size of the box, so play around with those and, um, the funds here in your list. If you're not happy with those, you can find free fonts online. So let's do that really quick. I just Googled free funds, and I end up at this page all the time I use it. It's really the only one I use. If you know of a better one. Great. This one I can't really narrow down my search to free public domain funds. So I have to just scroll through its called 1000 and one free fonts dot com 1001 You didn't see that right here. They have all these categories. Headline If you want a nice, bold font and scroll down right here in the preview window, you can type a word so you can see the funt what it will look like with a certain word. And there's some other settings here Update the name of the font is right here. If you haven't typed a word and right here the name of the fund will also be written here. And what I'm really looking for is where it says free here. Free. Now this says free for personal use. I avoid those because I will not remember in my list of fonts that Aaron procreate which ones are totally free and which ones are only for personal use, which means I wouldn't be able to try toe sell anything that has that font on it. And then public domain is also find to use for, um for any work. So I go through. I don't even try to fall in love with any funds until I know if it's free or public domain . So once you find when you like already have some of these, I went a little crazy. I don't do this very often. So here's a whole bunch of pages of it here. I'm gonna skip way ahead to 12 page because I know I looked through a lot of these already . So here's when I really like Valentine already has a little outline. It is free. So as I scroll down, I'm looking here. I'm not even gonna look over at the ones that don't That's a free for personal use public domain. This is a nice, bold font. You might find that some of these when you get them in to procreate you they aren't a very good quality. That might be a little fuzzy to me. This looks a tiny bit fuzzy compared to this, so it might not be so great, but you can give it a try. I still need to figure out how to delete funds from procreate. Um, local citizens called Boris Black blocks B L O X X. What you do is tap download, and it's gonna ask if you want to download. It's a zip file, but with Iowa's 13 your iPad can handle these really easily. Now tap download. And it happened pretty quickly, but a little. You know, this little circle with the arrow kind of did a little bounce and it downloaded. So here it is. Here's the ones that I've downloaded recently. Um so bores back Boris black blocks, and you can either just tap on it, it brings you into your files. So if you don't want to do that, if you want to know where you're going, you go to the file section two downloads, and here it is right here. You need to tap on it. And this one only opened up a new one that says Boris black blocs dot TTF That's what you need. So some of them are going to open up a folder. Let me see if this one does. Okay, so that windows opened up a folder. Tap it again and here's the TTF That's the fucked and this is, um, just copyright guideline things that you can read and make sure you're following. But I I only downloaded, um, public domain and free ones. That should be fine. Okay. And then I'm going to open June goal and Claressa and make sure I have the TTF So this one has three TTF senate. So there might be three versions of that particular fund. Okay, So once I have them all open, I can either just go ahead and open procreate in a window next to it. Make sure I don't have anything selected here, So I'm saying done on that. I don't have anything selected. And I can go to a TTF file and drag it over, and you'll see that little plus sign and then we'll import if you don't see that plus sign and that important, then it didn't work. This is the zip file. So you don't want that? This is the folder that opened when we tapped that zip file. And here's the TTF plus sign. Drop it in. Okay, So I am actually going to delete the winds have already done so I don't get confused. And then the other way that I'm gonna show you how to do this is if you go ahead and go back into text right here, you can import fund. So I'm in my recently deleted for some reason. Okay, So I still need June goal and Claressa. I don't know where I am. Here, Here we go. Downloads jungle and Claressa these. If you haven't opened them like this over here, you won't be able to access them. At least when I tried, that's it Didn't work for me. So now I can because I opened the folder over here. I can access that there and tap that in automatically downloads. So tap import. And then let's do the same thing for Claressa. So we have three here. All right, go ahead and close that and delete those. I want to see those. Clarissa's starting with K. So here they are. No, those are great. Let's bump this size up so you can see it. Here's Claressa. Here's Claressa Contour. So it has a little outline, and this one just says Claressa. But it's, um, empty in the middle has a shadow. So that particular fund had several sales. That's happened before. Um, end, you know, Here's when I downloaded. That has four of them. This one also has four of them. Oh, no. This one has 56789 10 11. Okay, so that is how you gets, um, funds into procreate. In case you didn't know that, I'll see in the next video. 4. Playing with Text Features and Free Brushes: I'm just going to assume that, um some of you might not know to too much about how to operate the all the text features. So I'm just gonna show you a couple little things here when you add text and it hasn't been rest arised yet. You'll see AIDS here. If you have Rast, arised it right here. You'll see the actual word in its because it basically turns it into an image. There's pros and cons to both. If you keep something, um, in this text form, it's edita ble, so you can tap on that menu, tap at it text, and then you can edit the style. You can go back to the keyboard and retyped to something else. In fact, let's do that. Let's just right happy and its style Change your funt so I can keep playing around with that word. Happy because I haven't rast arised yet it yet, but I can't do much to it. I can't do any artistic things to it right now. Once it's rast arised like this one, then I can do all sorts of things to it. But one thing I can't do to it is make it bigger. You can make it a tiny bit bigger, but if you go too much bigger, it's going to decrease the quality. You can kind of zoom in if you need to make a change, or you can just add a new layer and start from scratch. I think I will start from scratch on that one because I didn't like that front, actually. So add text. Let's bring that down. Let's go ahead and type the word down times and its style. I looked for some nice, bold ones, and I looked for some script handwriting looking ones so you can spend hours going through all of those funds and finding what is perfect for what you need. And I'm just doing three different fund our text boxes for the three words just to play around upside pressed cancel. So at it text. I can't remember what fun that WAAS. I don't like that d all right, We'll just leave it on whatever this is done. That's what I needed to dio. So Happy Valentine's Day. What you can do with these if you're very happy with, um the size and the Funt, you can rest arise it if you're not so sure Duplicate all of them. You will have a perfect quality duplicate because he's haven't been rast arised yet. Now I'm going to Rast. Arise the duplicates What I can do with ease now that they're rast. Arised is I can paint directly on it by doing two finger swipe to the right to do Alfa Lock and get a nice text your brush. How about Nico Rule? Let's let's see, We're gonna work with this pallet right here and I don't think that's gonna look so good on top of the red. Never mind. So if you have these Rast arise, you can you can work right on them. It's basically like their piece of art already just pixels on the page if you want a group them altogether. If you have the placement exactly where you want them, you can group them all together. Or you can do a Philippine mask and do something right on top without affecting that red itself. You're just using a clipping mask. If you're short on layers, could be masks, not the best. You can see the texture on their You could just do some erasing baby with a pencil. I should throw my I'm gonna throw my six bees in there. Let me show you an easier way to move brushes to different folder. So if you I'm just like selecting multiple layers, you can select multiple brushes and then you can put your finger down and slowly pull them out, find where you want them to go. One of the things that I've seen in videos is having toe sit there and you can kind of see it highlight and try to get it just right. But what? All you need to do is actually just tap that folder and bring them over and drop them in every once in a while. It doesn't work, and I don't know why. Okay, so if I'm going to erase with my big six B, you can erase. Although maybe just using white on top instead of erasing might be a better option since erasing is actually permanently changing your word here. But if you didn't have white for the background or if you wanted Teoh have some flexibility for changing those dotted areas erased areas changing color with the background change, then erasing is exactly what you need to dio I'm not a letter. So I'm just showing you some nice ways to do you, Sam, some lettering on your valentine work that is just using the text features. And then one other thing that is spent to do is duplicating the layer Alfa locking it, um, going to black top that again and fill layer, turn Alfa lock off so you can blur it and maybe blurry it, like 12% selected shifted around gives the fun look so you can do all sorts of things with every single layer differently. Or you can group them together and do them all at once. If you like your clipping mask and how it looks on top of your other word, you can go ahead and combine those so you can save on layers. You can also combine the shadow so that this just becomes one layer. Every time you do that, you you aren't able to edit that, Um, if you want to edit it later. But if you're hurting for layers, that's definitely, um, something you can try. I wanted to just quickly go over the brushes that I've put in our little brush library. It's one of the downloads for the class. Most of these are procreate native brushes, so you can go through and play around with each of these thes air kind of more of the in Kane and drawing. And then down here at the bottom are the bigger texture brushes in the middle. I have some of the brushes that I've created, and this is just a model, a brush. But I I've made it so that it can be very large, but it also goes to very small. So let's see, I have a Cupid stamp brush. I have a banner brush to banner brushes. Actually, that one and this one and I'll be showing you how to use those. These air really just sketches there. It really I guess you could probably use them how they are just a heart outline. Brash stamp, a solid heart stamp. If you don't know for the stamps, if you use your finger, it's going to be the same size every time you stamp with it. Whatever you have adjusted, whatever size you have adjusted over here. So if you want consistency, you would want to use your finger. If you're using this, then depending on the pressure you give the pencil will have a different size. I have created a hurt texture brush to fill in the background or whatever you want to do with this. It's a seamless repeat, so you'll be able to pick up your pencil and put it back down, and it picks up right where it left off. The same thing for this grid hurt brush. Here is a heart vine or just something. You can do whatever you want with lines for Borders. This is the, um, a slightly modified stippled brush from appropriate native brush, and I just made it so that the Staples Aaron larger. We're getting kind of messy here. Let's go to a new page. This is a dotted line. I've had a lot of dotted line brushes for other projects that have random, randomly generated dot sizes, and I wanted when that has the same size dot If you go like this and then let it snap to a straight line and then put your finger down, it'll go to perfectly horizontal or it'll snap to probably every 15 degrees. It looks like this is a dotted texture brush so you can fill a background in. You could do a whole background or you can just, you know, do Ah, heart. I'll be showing you some different things. Here's a line brush I created for a background. A grid with a dotted line. If you can see that, olive these you'll be able to, um, lift up your pencil, put it back down and it goes to the spot that it from where it left off. If you I had something happened where I left, the page came back and it did not leave off it. My brush didn't pick up right where I left off. Or if you change the size, obviously that's going to change things, okay, and then the rest are procreate. Native brush is a lot of these are the brand new procreate five brushes. And I think in the work that I'm about to show you, I don't use all of these. But I put all of these in here because they're my favorites. So I just, um, I wanted to throw those in there for some of favorite textures, and then you can use them how you wish. Obviously, you have all your brushes to choose from Sometimes I hop into the airbrushing. Um and you know any of these other native brushes? But for this class, I am only using procreate native brushes and the free brushes that I'm providing. 5. Heart Stamp Part 1: we're gonna play around with the heart stamp, brush the solid win, and you can add a clipping mask to the top and anything you do above that where the clipping mascots is only going to show up on top of your stamped there. So let's say you want to do Cem Nico Rule texture over the top of that. You can just scribble all over, and it's only going to show up on top of that heart. Go ahead and group those together, and you can select it all at once. I like to duplicate that stamp. Go to the one under it selected mn. Increase the size a little bit to give it a little border. If you tap Alfa lock, then you can change the color of it. Let's go with it dark. I'm going with the this color palette right here, so I have. This is my background color. I have a couple of tones of thes pinks for the heart, and then this as the border around the heart. And that's just one way to make a simple paper heart. If you want to make it look like it's a little bit floaty, you can duplicate that larger bottom layer. It's already got Alfa Lock on. She's black Tap Phil, Tap it again. Toe undo Alfa Lock. You can undo and redo Alfa lock by two fingers swiping on the layer, or you can tap. And she is that here, with the Alfa locked turned off, you can go to the Magic One tool and the blur. Goshen blur. However you say it and just start increasing that to 10 or 12% or whatever you think looks good for a little shadow. You can move that shadow around a little bit. You can play with the opacity on that shadow, and what that does is just give it a little bit of a raised look instead of a very flat look. If you want to have a raised look between this heart and this heart, you need to make a shadow that's the same size as this heart right here, which is this one, said duplicate Alfa lock Phil Black. Off the lock off blue. This blur is not showing up quite a swell because it's on that dark background, but you can still see it gives it a little bit of a raise to look so that they look like separate layers. And now you have a stamped heart or stamped double hurt that have a paper look, there's another fund stamp heart Look, try to get. There we go. That uses a clipping mask, a mask, and then I'm just going to switch to the monoline brush. I'm just going to draw a line straight down and then around and connect, even though we can't see that you could see it. Um, if you take the clipping mask off and then drag and drop to fill. If you turn that clipping mask back on, it just covers, um, over the heart that's under it. So this is a fun way to make a different look for a heart. You can then maybe Alfa lock this and choose a different color and a nice texture brush to add some texture to that, maybe Alfa lock This is well. Or do another clipping mask. Lips. I just turned the clipping mask off. Um, so now I have another clipping mask that's under this red. She's a darker, and that's just a way to get some texture on both hats. If you're not a fan, of this color. You can go to that selection and go to hue, saturation, brightness and play around with the color. Those look to match a little bit more to me. What? Once you do that, I would group them all together. So they're all in when duplicate. And then with the duplicate, you can flatten. So then you have one that you can, um, manipulate with the change the size of it and do all sorts of things. You still have your original. You can use your original, of course, and then you can keep duplicating the original. Or you can just go ahead and duplicate that flattened version. You can't go bigger. Well, you can probably go a tiny bit bigger, but, uh, so that's a way to come up with some pretty fun looks for half and half heart, and you can also go ahead and play around with the hue saturation brightness. I'm on this heart right here. Let's zoom in. So this is one of the flattened hearts. So there it's all changing together that gives it a more matching look to that that dusty your pink Let's see, we could come up with another color for that one. Maybe a purple. That's a pretty blue, All sorts of fun you can have with those hearts and lots of obviously the texture options for doing this is just anything you want to dio. Another thing we can do with the heart stamp is to go ahead and make it look like it's really coming up off of the, uh, paper. Let's see, I'm gonna go with a nous set to this pallet right here and then come back to disk. So I just have those pounds. So I don't get confused. Which palette I'm looking at, I'm gonna have changed the background. I'm just gonna go with this kind of putty color here and on a new layer. I'm going to go ahead and make an a stark teal hurt. This works with, um, any shape doesn't have to be the heart. Obviously, I'm going to duplicate that. Hurt the bottom one. Turn Alfa Lock on. Change it to black. Turn off the lock off. I'm going to select it and going to squash it down whips My uniform was on, so it's changing it uniformly. Turn it on free form and squash it down sorry for The noise is in my house right now. I have a busy household. You're hearing the water pipes, so I'm squashing it down. Then I'm going to distort and I'm grabbing this and I'm sliding it over this way. And what I'm looking at is I don't want to go off the edge of the page over here. And I'm also not liking how this kind of comes out over here. So I'm going to select both of those and move them over a little bit, go back to just the black layer and blur it. I'm blurring that one to about 14% and then I'm going to turn the opacity down just about 75%. I'm going to use the liquefy tool to adjust. The look over here liquefy the push setting. Um, I'm on 76% and I just pushing that little bump in. I'm going to come down to a smaller about 57% and pull this bottom part out. I want to see a little bit of a shadow right here, but I kind of wanted to follow this line, some pushing it around. Hopefully you can see that so I have a little shadow over here, and the other thing I want to do with this layer is erase some of it because when a shadow is farther away from the object, it's it fades. So I'm going to go into the airbrushing soft brush and have it on a pretty large size, and I'm just going to lightly erase some of this part of the shadow that's further away. And it stays darker as it gets closer to the bottom of this heart. So that heart now looks like it's kind of peeling up off the paper. So we have this kind of crazy shadow back here. Let's group those together. We have the two toned heart plus using hue saturation brightness to change those. You can also just duplicate the original and change the colors directly if you don't want to. If you don't like the options that you see in the hue, saturation and brightness and then we have the double heart or you can use this as a single heart with the shadows underneath, and then one more thing I want to show you is how to use a layer mask. We use clipping masks I use clipping masks all the time. I am going to duplicate this original pink heart, turn that original off and flatten this one. So I have just thes three flattened duplicate hurts. And let's say you want a look where the hearts are overlapping, but you want it the background to show a little bit around these. This is just one example of how to use a layer mask. Um, so on this pink layer, instead of erasing the pink layer, let me show you what I'm the look I'm going for. If I just had this monoline brush and I wanted to have a nice kind of outline around these two hearts going to turn the background brighter so you can see that better if I wanted to have a nice little outline border around those, um, I could erase, but then I'm erasing part of that heart. But the other thing you can do that doesn't affect the heart itself. And turn that background backup IHS, go to that pink heart, tap on it and tap mask that pops up this connected layer mask and it's covering if you think of it as covering that pink heart and you can erase with black Marty on black and I don't use the eraser. So it's it's it's kind of something you have to get used to wrapping your head around, Um, that you're erasing without really erasing. I'm not using any racer. I'm using black on this white. You can see him. I've got that layer selected cause it's brighter. And whenever I drop black on here, it's going to make it look like I'm erasing part of that, um, stuff that's underneath that layer. But it really doesn't erase it at all. So I can give that same look as if I had erased and my heart isn't affected at all. If I accidentally he raised a section that I didn't mean to erase. I can go toe white, and I fill the layer mask back in with white and make any little corrections. I'm trying to be a little bit quick with this. I'm not being too precise. So I filled back in the white layer mask with by selecting white and then, if you choose, graze so it all works with grays, blacks and whites. You're just going to have a transparent removal of the mask, so you're going to remove part of it. The darker the gray, the more you can still see part of it under there. I haven't found a use for that, but I'm sure there's plenty, and that's how years later masks. 6. Heart Stamp Part 2: Okay. Next, I'm gonna show you how to make one of the stamps look like a balloon. I'm just choosing. It's pretty big. I might go smaller. I was on Distort their. But because I pinched in the middle, it kept it uniform. I'm usually on for your former uniform with a clipping mask over the top of a heart stamp. And, let's say Laura Poona brush and shoes, a nice dark color. On top of that, you can start shadow in your heart so that it looks kind of like a balloon. To do that, you kind of dark in around the edges. Feel free to veer out, veer away from the exact colors that are in the color palette. I try to stay with the same tone when I do that by just adjusting the dot and not adjusting this part a little lighter. Maybe, and then the smudge brush is so if you tap and hold, it's the Lex, the same brush you were already using. And I'm just gonna lightly smudge this because I'm going for a very highly textured look here. I have found that the more texture you have, the less digital something looks So if that's a look you're going for, uh, if you're going for a less digital look, having more texture IHS a nice way to achieve that. All right? So just having lighter areas here and darker areas all around gives it a very nice raised look. If you add another clipping mask and go to white and maybe pick Um, let's try just tinderboxes one of my favorites and put it on myself. Shine on there. You can also get more of a texture. Look, if you go ahead to your base, hurt and maybe go back down to Laura Poona, or even since there's so much texture already on top of this, you could go to airbrush and just add some. They see what I'm doing. I'm adding some black to that heart. Underneath all of this texture. I just gave it a little more dimension. If you're getting tired of using this same shape for your heart to every time you do thes stamp. And of course, the stamp is only for people who really want that heart look without if they don't feel comfortable drawing their own heart. So if you go back to that, um stamp brush and that that later that you used the stamp rush on turn the Alfa lock off, go into the magic wand and liquefy and go into this push tool. You can kind of play around with how that heart looks and because he used a clipping mask on top that could be mascot is still going to show up. Maybe you want one side to be bigger and you can see I'm not pushing the could be mask around at all. So that's just one way. Maybe you want this candidacy swirl over to the side, play around with your hurt cheeks. Here I've used the layer mask just like I did before, and these air more of a balloon looking bubbly heart. He used those same hearts, moved them around and put little balloon strings on them. These are just on the heart stamp with a very low transparency, setting opacity setting on the stamp when I used to the stamp in the background. These hearts are also just the stamp with could be masks on top. To get that texture, I used one layer for this back ground heart and then a different layer for these two hearts so that I could get the textures different looking on each heart and they wouldn't all blend into one. And this is just straight up text feature and I used the color palette. I used waas This one right here. I didn't use this super dark brown in full opacity, but these hearts are a low opacity version of that dark brown. The background is that. And then I used these colors in all the other things with the hurts. It was pretty fun. Look, but here's another thing you can do with the stamp parts I I'll show you, actually, cause that's probably heard to see um, these air just the text future. I doubled it. I changed the background color I erased pert and it exposes the background color. And here I used a stamp brush, and then I erased, which exposes the background color I erased with a heart stamp here. And then I raised with monoline here. Oh, I'm sorry. Actually, this strike I erased with the stripey brush this one right here, perfect lanes. These I did the snap tool. So if you go to the monoline and go to a kind of a small size and draw circle lips. I need to be on that layer, draw a circle and then let it holding. Actually, I'm going to do it so you can see it better. Hold it backwards. Draw circle, holding tap, and it makes a perfect circle. Once I did that, I dragged a dropped color, and it only fills Alfa Lock has not turned on, but because there's a new erased area all the way around, it only filled that one spot. So I just did that erasing and drag and drop colors with all of these. Then the other thing I want to show you is I created a textured, very light grey layer turned it on color burn, and it just gave everything a totally different look. So I'll go through and turn on all of those color burn layers. I did one for every single layer. I don't know if it would have worked if I just did one over the whole thing. Maybe, and I did the Kuala brush, which is that really cool kind of salty texture. So that kind of gave it a nice, um, bright look and more of a texture. Look in the next video, we'll learn about banners and starbursts and envelopes 7. Banners Starbursts And Fun Text Boxes: Okay, I'm gonna start a fresh canvas here, and we're gonna talk about, um, banners I provided to banner brushes. That air mostly meant to be used as a way to trace. If you're uncomfortable, I'm drawing your own. So here's the two banner brushes. And if you need a longer banner, you can take when and to sort of lips move it around, Teoh what you think you need for the length and fill in. You know, this is just a sketch layer so you can make changes and then turn that opacity down and just trace it. One thing I suggest when you're tracing the banner is to do it on three layers. So have this top section B one layer directly under. That would be these two little sections here for this. Brush it with bird. For this stamp, it would be this and this and then the very bottom layer would be these little flaps at the end. And that way you'll be able to shade them all individually. And I'll show you what I mean by that. So just gonna add a few layers here and I'll go with B the monoline brush for now, in a pretty small size now on a layer directly under that. And I'm just in a slightly change the color so I can make sure I see the difference in the layers here and then finally underneath that and go to another color whips. I'm just connecting the lines behind. They're just guessing where those lines are, and then you can clean up these edges where they are a little messy, just to give it a little bit more of a curve. And this is just a different look. But you would do the same thing for that one. And now you can turn off your sketch layer and you have a nice banner. I just did this quickly for the tutorial, but you can just alfa lock those layers and make some changes of this Salamanca. I'm not sure fight saying that right? This Salamanca brush is is pretty fun for of making kind of a ribbon e look. So I'm on this top layer here and I would envision that it would be a highlighted area right here through the middle. So I'm on a lighter color and just given a couple slights there and on this lowest layer. I think these edges would probably have. That's lighter. Look, I like how the, um, underside is already pretty dark here, but I think I might actually lighten. It has a little bit right here, and I'm kind of going in the direction that the ribbon would be going. Maybe not so and then maybe a little bit darker right in here. So I'm gonna select this dark color and go back down to that lowest layer and do helps It did not select the dark Color me. Try that again. Here we go. And dark in this would be a shadowed area under here. Do the same for both sides. And there you go. Now we have a curved banner. I want to show you a little bit of a trick for adding, um, curved text. It's not really something Procreate does. So I'm gonna go to the top. I'll go ahead and group my banner layers all together. I'll go to a new layer on top of that go to add text. So let's just type valentine go to a smaller fonts. It fits there. Okay, Once you have a funt, um, in the style and color that you like. Go ahead and rast, arise it that turns it into an image. And while you're on that layer, go to the magic wand. Liquefy on this push tool. Have a somewhat large size and you can push up in the middle and come down on the sides and just kind of keep an eye on how it's looking that it's not distorting too much and you can give that a bit of a curve. The other way you could curve is to select it. Tap work and this advanced mesh, and you can play around with the lines quite a bit. It takes a lot of trial and error for this method, but you get the idea so that curve is not following there. That's a better curve with the the liquid tool liquefy tool. I have a starburst. I added to one of my pieces right here, and I wanted to show you how to make that for this starburst. You're going to go into the wrench tool canvas drawing guide, edit, drawing guide, symmetry and then you're going to go into the options and choose radial symmetry. I'm going to turn my guide lines too, um, thick black lines so that we could see them well in the video and my layer that I'm currently on says assisted. So I will have the symmetry on that layer. When you add another layer, it won't say assisted, but you can tap it and tap drawing assist rate there. So now I am going to my model and brush to a fairly small size. And let's do a bright color. I'm just picturing a circle about this big right now, and I'm picturing a point being here and here and maybe here in here. That means I'm going to approximately need tohave thes about this big. So that's a bit of a sketch, and then you can go to a new layer and you're just going to need to draw one of thes, so I mean it Soon, man drying assistance on and I'm going to draw one. I'm gonna snap to make it a straight line. Once you have that one, you can duplicate that layer. Select it. Make sure Magnetics is on, can rotate it, and it's snaps into place. Go back and duplicate that first layer. Select it. Magnetic should still be on and let it snap into the second place. Duplicate. Select. So you're just gonna keep doing this? I I think I've ended up duplicating the wrong layer at some point, but that's OK. Okay, let's see. This is my sketch layer. I'm going to turn that off and I'm going to combine all of those layers another all on one layer and I can drag and drop there. You have a starburst. But now I want to show you how to make sort of a paper cut out background behind text. So if you just start with Oh, that's really big Start with the maybe a 23% just a kind of a big brush and make it so it has rounded corners tap to get it to be a perfect rectangle and Phil. And now I'm going to go into my drawing guide at it, drawing guide symmetry options, and I'm going to choose vertical symmetry. I'm going to select that rectangle. I mean, a zoom in so I can show you what I'm doing here, and I'm going to line this little green line up with the symmetry line so we know it's pretty much in the middle. It was bumping back and forth because Magnetic says on it doesn't let you get to precise when you're using Magnetics. So, um, I'm able to line that up, just sliding it around. If you need to find tune, move things you can select and tap over here. Can you see how it's moving so you can fine tune things? Also, when you are moving something, you don't have to select it. You can be outside of the box anywhere on the screen and move it around, and that's a nice way if you have something really tiny and you're trying to select it and you keep accidentally grabbing the blue dots and increasing the size of it, Um, just grab it from anywhere on this. Okay, so I have vertical symmetry on, and I'm going to bump out the sides, so I'm going to liquefy. Let's go to the magic warmed liquefy push, and whatever I do over here is gonna do the same thing over here, so that's a little uneven. Here we go. It's a little bit better, and, um, since we're on vertical symmetry, we're really only going to get a good motion going that direction. But if you go back in to edit drawing guide, symmetry options and goto horizontal, you need to then go ahead and line up the blue dots with that guideline, go to liquefy and do the same thing. So this is just a fun way to kind of make a text box in a lot of ways. It's, you know, that if your scrapbooking you know you have little paper cutouts that you can then write text on so that when I showed you over here, that's what I did there. And then that's doubled. And once you get the shape you want, you can just duplicate it. Alfa locket, the bottom one, turn it to a new color and then tap it and increase the size of it. 8. Faux Banner and Envelopes: I also wanted to show you how to do this sort of banner, and it's definitely more simple than this fancy banner here. Go ahead and starting new canvas. All I did was go to my very large monoline brush. Let's pick a fun palette here. How about this orange one? And I'm just letting this snap to a straight line. Go to a new layer, pick another color snap to a straight line, and I'm watching that white space in between. And I'm adjusted this line to get it to be assed parallel as I can't just by eyeballing it's not that critical and one more color. Since they're on separate layers, I can just move them individually on their layer. If I have Magnetics on, it's easier to move them without letting them slide back and forth too much. So I'm going to put this tam layer underneath the other layers, and that will make sense in a minute. When I do a little, I'm gonna overlap both of them on top of that layer. So the orange layer I want the start of the banner to be over here, the little kind of cut end, so I have selected that layer. Go to the ribbon tool on freehand and zoom ins. I can show you what I'm doing here. Tap When you tap, you can get straight lines. So I'm tapping. So I have this angled cut. This is going to be cut off and then whips. I just tapped with my hand over here and then tap out here just didn't, um, at an angle that you like the look of and then just kind of go around the rest of that orange section. Tappy, matt dot at the end, select and then just slide it right off the page. So you just cut a nice clean line. If you tried to erase a lion, you wouldn't be able to get that nice clean cut like that. Go to the pink layer. I'm going to do this same thing down here. Select tap, tap, tap and man lips. But make sure you get all the pink in my selection tap on that dot at the end and slide it right off the page. All right, now, I'm going to just overlap that tan color a little bit. And most of big insurer I'm not leaving a gap over here, so I just It's just a look. I like. You don't have to do that. Bring the orange one down. That same effect. And there you have a little faux banner group those together at another layer and add text . I'm going to make that a very light color, and I'm just gonna right, Valentine, I'm not going to worry about the font right now. I just want to show you, um, one quick thing. So if you turn Magnetics off, you'll be able to very precisely angle this to where you want it. Maybe make that picker so you could write Happy Valentine's Day or whatever you want. But I wanted to show you one thing you can do. If you don't want the text to be lined up at an angle like that, you can select it and then go to distort and to slide this bar sideways. So what I'm looking for is the l, for example, to be going straight up and down once, so I had not rast arised that text. But once I use the tools down here with the selection, it will automatically rast arise it. And when I tap this arrow button to uninsulated this. You're going to see a little warning up here. It just lets you know it's been rast arised. And then you'll see it here because you can see the whole word in this little window. That means it's been grassed arised. Any text that you you don't you just see the letter A Here. That means it's not rest arised, and you can still go in and edit it. So make sure you have the font and everything that you want before you do that move tool. Okay, so that's a little faux banner and oops, you can see that here. I just added a lot of texture at in my lines on the back, my heart line. And now I want to show you, um, envelopes. I'm still with that monoline brush for this envelope. I'm just going to, um, show you a very quick, very clean, precise envelope. And you're going to want to draw a rectangle tap your finger Hope that made a square. But if you let go, you can edit shape and shoes Rectangle Oops. Got a uniform here and change the size. Where have you however you want your rectangle toe Look, you can drag and drop to fill that color, and I'm going to duplicate that. But I want to make this top of the envelope a little bit lighter. So I'm just going to go to Hue, saturation, brightness and bump up the brightness a little bit. So I have a little bit of a darker I don't know if you're gonna be able to see that on the video. I'm gonna bump it up a little bit more. So now I have the light one in the dark, win for the light. When if you think of the front of an envelope, it has that cut out. You can do the same thing with this magic one tool and tap in the corner. Tap down here in the middle, tap up in the other corner and then just come back over to that selection or two that dot and slide that selection right off the page. There's a closed envelope. Look, if you if you like that But I am going to show you a open envelope. So this is our top layer and we want to leave that alone. You can design your envelope with, you know, having that that little look of the folded paper there. Lots of options. But before we complete the envelope, I wanna have this open flap up here. And to do that, there's a couple of ways to do that. You could I'm going to turn this one off. You could just select this, um, select that triangle again. And this time you can three finger swipe down and copy and paste That gives you that selection on a new layer. And it didn't cut the selection off of the other layer so you can select that new little triangle layer, flip it up, turn magnetic on and slide it right into place. But as you can see, it didn't line up exactly perfectly because the rectangle wasn't quite perfect. So you confess around with that and, um, keep working on that to get it, How you want it, or you can just Well, let's see. Yeah, I'll just do it on the layer right on top. I am doing on a separate layer cause I wanted to be a different color. I'm just going to tap this corner to this corner to somewhere appear in the middle kind of envisioning where I want that triangle to be select. And Phil, I didn't quite get it lined up exactly, But it's good enough, and I do what that to be a different color. So I could have filled it with a different color. Or I could just go to the hue saturation brightness again. I'm gonna go darker. Take that selection off. I'm going to delete this other triangle we made. So that's just one look. Maybe this might be the one you want to have a lighter? Look on. If you want to switch that around, you can Alfa lock lips Alfa, lock those layers. Select this lighter color this one right here and fill Go to this interior envelops goto a darker color and Phil. So now you have the open flap and you have this front pace and this is the inside, and the reason why it's nice to have them separate. This is separate just so you can have a B a different color. But this piece is separate so you can hide hearts behind it. So if you go to a layer underneath that, let's choose a nice heart color and a stamp you can now have hearts coming out of your envelope lips. Let's go to a different color. So there's one way to do a little heart filled envelope, and that is a very digital looking way to do it. If you like a less digital look, I would suggest go into a nice texture. Brush Lake Nico Rule. I'm going into to start connect background a little bit. I'm gonna choose White for many co rule and just kind of make a rectangle. You can tap and hold the erase button so that it selects Nico Rule for the race and just clean up some of those edges. If you want, you'll also want to erase that little triangle and then on a layer behind it, maybe with a slightly darker color. You'll have the inside of your envelope and a layer under that you'll have the flap on the layer right under this white part. You can. She was a heart color on a new layer. Do another hurt, and then you can just keep doing your own hearts separately or just duplicate. Change the order of the layers. To get thm, however you'd like them. I also like to add some shadows. So if you alfa, lock this Or maybe just do the clipping mask and go back to this white color that may be just go down a little bit to a gray and just add a little texture around the edge makes it kind of look like it's bubbly and open and underneath the entire envelope. I'd also add a little bit of a darker gray of a shadow peeking out there. I like to play around with the blend modes on the shadows. Color burn, linear burn kind of depends on what I want the background to look like for the background. I'm going into loom in its to the Boca Lights, and I chose white for my color. It is adding a little pink in that white. If you don't want the pink, you can Alfa lock and fill the layer, and it just turns thumb all white. Probably turn that capacity down a little bit. And then on another layer under that, I met shoes a darker pink than what we've got right here. Maybe a couple more Boca lights and on a layer under that go back to Nico Rule or a favorite texture brush that you have and just kind of darken the edges a little bit. So I have This is a little bit, um, hidden Kind of not standing out too much. So, um, you can do a few different things. I'm going to my shadow layer and I'm looking at I like the color burn. I'm gonna move that layer up in there. I'm going too dark in that layer, though, so just use hue, saturation, brightness and dark in that shadow. And let's see if I can dark in the shadow that, um, shady and I did around the envelope to find it a little bit more. Maybe go to that white layer of the envelope, um, to Nico rule and get some sharper edges. I just hit my shadow there. Finally, I think I am going to dark in this background a little bit more. Here we go. I think that's adding a nice look. Make even envelopes stand out a little bit more. And then, of course, you can do some shading on the heart says Well, but I just wanted to show you that more sketchy, less digital Look for an envelope. So this one I spent a little more time on, but you can see it's quite similar. I think I have cleaner edges and a darker shadow under there. All right, so there you go. There's a couple types of envelopes and a faux banner. Happy Valentine's Day. 9. Valentine Birds: All right, let's create a horizontal card size, and I'm gonna show you a fun way to illustrate a bird. A very simple valentine bird. If you want a little bit more of a complicated birdie. Kim, check out the cardinal prompt in my winter illustration. Class, we did some. We had some fun with cardinals. Okay, so for a cute little valentine bird, I'm just going to my six b. No, Taper. That really doesn't matter what brush I'm just sketching. And I'm going at about a 45 degree angle, and then I'm gonna do basically, like, 1/2 circle, then have a rounded head. And there's a lot of options for tails. A wren would have a tail that sticks up, so just make a cute little tale that you like, And then for the wing, I'm doing a kind of a teardrop shape, and I mean this Start with it down here. I like to have the wing kind of poke over the back a little bit. The feet sort of angle forward. Simple little, I should say legs simple. Little feet would be three toes forward. One toe back. I don't know how many toes birds have maybe have four toes forward and closed beak open beak. The I I I think you can kind of figure out if you like the look of a tiny I or big guy that tiny I looked pretty cute. Okay, now you have a little sketch. You can turn that down and go right on top of it. I'm going to the model a brush because I'm just gonna do some drag and drop Phil colors for this. And let's choose a different palette. I'm going with Dispel it right here. The blues to the orangey reds. And I'll choose this kind of orange color. I draw better curves. If I'm going this way with my hand, I'm going to a layer under the body to put a tail lot slightly different color. Like make sure I'm closing that shape before he fell. I am going to a layer above the body for the wing and I'm going to stay on this color. Let's turn the opacity down on that body so we can see that sketch. Here we go. And I also need to go under everybody under all those layers for my beak color. I'm just going with black hair and also for my feet. I'm gonna bump up my size and do some thicker legs and some thinner toes and a very top player for that I you could just felt that pretty big and do a doctor. I met Goto a gray go really small and it happened hold, so I just kind of added a little gray around the edge. Okay, Now I can turn my Sketchley, You're off and I've got everything on different layers. I've got my feet and beak, my tail, my body, me wing and my eye. I am going to group these together and duplicate. So now I have this bird and I have this bird. I'm going to turn this, flip it around, maybe make it a little smaller, maybe make him look like they're kissing since we're talking about Valentine's Day and now I can play around with the colors completely separately on this bird. So let's go back to this bird. Make sure we're on the right bird here and at that clipping mask and start getting some texture on their again. Could be mask for the wing. She's that color. I'm gonna go with this other pink that's in the palate. Same thing for the tail clipping mask. I might go a little texture crazy. All right, so I'm gonna call that bird Done. I might put a little glimmering. It's I let's say think or on Mercury and up. We're on Mercury for the eraser. All right, let's go over to this other bird. Let's put a glimmer in her eye to, and I'm going to Alfa Lock and just change all the colors of the tail and body. So I'll do this lighter pink or the body. And for the wing, Maybe I'll go with that orange and then for the tail. We're gonna go with that orange. Now we're going to do the same thing at a clipping mask. Teoh Each one. All right, So those two birds air done. So I just did a banner, just like I already showed you. And I did symmetry here. I have, like, the symmetry. These aren't symmetrical, and the birds aren't symmetrical. But everything else I just did, um, symmetrically see in the next video 10. Backgrounds: So the last thing I want to show you is how I created somebody's backgrounds. So I'm going to go into a new canvas, and the first thing I want to show you is my heart texture brushes. So this one has an offset hurt pattern. It is, um, it is set up so that if you if you didn't finish it in of all one stroke, then it's OK. So, for example, if you lips, I'm on the bush. If you pick up your pencil and put it back down as long as you haven't left the page left the layer changed the size. Things like that, you can just keep picking your pencil up and putting it back down, and it's going to just keep filling in perfectly. So there's this offset heart. And then there's this greed heart. Make it a little bigger. Same thing with this one. If you pick it up and put it back down, it's gonna keep filling it in exactly how you want it. Once you have it all laid down, if you wanna have the edges look a little bit more even you can just kind of play around with the size a little bit. Maybe stretch it up like that. Now we have hurt full, complete hearts all the way around. They did get stretched up a little bit, but that's OK. And the only problem with these brushes is if you really want small hurts, your brush size gets smaller, too. And this it's just gonna take a lot longer to fill in your background. Um, I have a solution for this, not for this grid style of heart brush, but for this offset. One. When you're trying to do small, let's say you trying to do even smaller and you have to try to color in the whole thing and you might miss some areas. So one thing you can do instead is go to the downloaded procreate file that I provided in The Resource Is Section and these air seamless repeat patterns that I created for you in three sizes here. I didn't go any bigger because it's easier to just use the brush if you want anything bigger than that. But let's say you want to do something like this, the size you can just tap and copy, or you can three fingers wiped down and copy and then just go into the other file three fingers right down and paste. So since you had a square paste in into a rectangle, it just filled it in that much. If you keep uniform on, you can go ahead and increase the size to fill in the hole background. You can see it's still a nice quality. It's not all pixelated, since I didn't increase it a lot. All right, so that is how I make the background for the tiny hearts. If you want to color those tiny hearts, you can alfa lock the layer, and it's a little bit time consuming. But when I dio is, I just choose a color that I want. And I used the mano lane brush. I haven't done one on this small of a pattern before, but in the end it actually is worth the effort to go through and color each and every bro in the design. And of course you know I goofed here, so you know you can zoom in and get a little closer, made the brush just big enough to try to do it in one swipe, and you can just design your hearts using Alfa Luck however you like. So that is how I did this one. Those are much bigger. So it was much easier. Much quicker, I should say, these little hearts, I just left all one color. So of course, using Alfa Luck. Just changing them to any color all at once is just filling a layer once it's on Al Pha luck get some pretty fun styles. He really want a muted look of hearts in the background. Just turned either change the color or turned their transparency down opacity. Okay, the next thing I want to show you ISS having fun with the selection tool. So I'm gonna get somewhat bigger hurts on here. All right? Once you have your design exactly how you'd like it, toe Look, you can go to a new layer, turn this layer off, but select it. Go up to that nuclear, and then choose the texture brush that you like. I'm going to choose Laura Poona, and I'm gonna choose right now I'm going to go with these two pink and red colors, so I'm just kind of dabbing and then swirly, I'm trying not to make a, um alternating pattern with Um, yeah, I'm not necessarily making Ed Currid of different colors and just kind of randomly picking Which ones are going to be pink, then the darker one. That's kind of too dark for me. The Laura Poona brush ends up looking a little bit darker than the palate image. So I'm tapping and then I'm swirling. I'll zoom in and show you tap to get a good blob of color on and then just kind of swirl it around. I am trying to fill in the whole heart without any, um, white edges, and I'll go back to that later. Pink in light. Not some of these. All right now, I'm going to switch to Cem Thiel's. So if you're doing your colors on different layers than you can at it, things a little bit more easily. Just gonna get some color on here and then switch to the lighter. Teal Lara Poona is a little bit translucent, so when you change the background color, the overall look. Oh, that really changed to a blue. Interesting. So Lar pen is doing that. I don't know something about these new color changing brushes, huh? Looks like it's doing it when it makes us with that dark deal, okay? And take this election off, and there you have a nice background if you accidentally, If you goofed and you want to fix something, you can go back to that original heart layer and have select and then fix lips. Lips. What am I doing? Any to select my brush. I need to be on the right layer. How about that? And then fix your issue that you have. If you accidentally got teal onto one of the pink layers, you can easily fix that, since your colors are on different layers. If you really want to check that, you can turn off one layer at a time. Look around, see if you have the colors in the right spots and take your selection off. So this is a great look right here. And since Lara Poona is transparent, when you change the background, it's going to change the overall look of your hearts as well. So I think this is also a really, really awesome look with the black coming through. But let's say you want to keep your hearts looking just like this, and you want a different colored background if you go to that original heart layer that you used for a selection and let's just turn it into a white layer. So Alfa Lock. So we're going to keep the background behind those hurts white. And now, when you change the other background, it's not changing the look of the hurts, so that is an entirely different look. You can kind of tuggle between the two and decide what you like. I like this one. And then, if you really like what you've done with the texture and you want to try out some new colors, you can duplicate and and select one at a time and just go to hue, saturation brightness and see what color options you have available here. There's kind of a dusty pink that brightens it up that turns it down to gray. If you want to reset, you can tap the screen and top reset. It's a pretty blue can darken that brighten it, bring the saturation, then maybe go to the red, depending on what color you start with. Your going to have different results with the Hughes lighter. That's really pretty. And just gonna dull that. Lower the saturation a tiny bit. So now you have the same exact hurts. You spend all your time getting all the texture on. There may be getting the pattern that you want to if you want it to be like a checkerboard pattern. And then instead of having to redo the whole thing to get another color palette, you could just play around with the hue, saturation brightness. All right, I can't wait to see what you guys do with this again. I have a whole bunch of my favorite texture brushes in here. I didn't go through them all in class, but it'll be fun to play around with those. And, of course, play around with any others that you have. And, you know, I'm always curious to hear which brushes are your favorites. So let me know if you post a project on skill share may be in the right up. You can comment on which brushes you like door, which brushes you used for each one. If you remember. Sometimes I, um, go ahead and label my layers with the brush names, but you don't always do that. Um, I was doing that when I started my making art every day like my avocado. So I have fray PSINet. I don't even know how to say that Tinderbox play Msil, Tinderbox spires, Mercury, tinderbox plums all. I have definite favorites. And, um, I gradually stopped stepped labeling because I am really bad about labeling. As you can see, I haven't labeled any of my canvases. I don't recommend leaving your canvases unlabeled like this because when you back up your work, there's some systems, like one drive that won't take a duplicate name. So if this is named untitled work, which it is right now, it will fail after the very 1st 1 that's entitled, it will fail saving the rest of them, and it will tell you that I failed. So then you have to go back and figure out which ones failed. So name your work, and that's pretty important. There's one final thing I want to show you in that is just doing some fun stuff like this. So if you take us heart stamp and then turn it off and select it, then go to a new layer and go to some of your favorite brushes like tinder box for me. Then you can do all sorts of fun things. I'm not really using a palette right now and then turn your selection off and you've got a fund heart, and it's got a completely transparent backgrounds that's gonna change with your background . You can just keep that selection on, go to a new layer, turn the ones you've already finished off and try all sorts of things. - Now you have a whole bunch of matching matching hurts that you can do all sorts of things with . If you used the same color palette on all of your hearts, then you're gonna have some pretty cool hurts that all go well together. What's I'm going to select all of them. I'll go ahead and select that hurt, too, and make him all a little bit smaller, so that's a lot of fun. 11. Overview of my cards: Okay, I'm just gonna go through one more time now that you've gone through everything and just kind of briefly talk about what I did in each one. So let's start with this one. Um, I just drew rectangles with the big monoline brush on different layers so I can change around the colors. And I did that crazy shadow that goes way down out here. This is that heart grid. That's all they did for that one. And, of course, the text. Here's an angled the dotted line grid. Um, stay the banners with the curved writing. This heart was a little tricky because I wanted the transparency for this heart so that this heart was show behind it. Can you see that? But when I turned the opacity down on this heart, then I could see the grid lines behind it, and I didn't want that. So what I did was I put if a solid, solid, duplicate heart behind this one behind it, and I didn't turn the transparency down. And then I have this heart over here, and then I have this hard on top and the transparency is at 75%. Just so we can see this other heart behind it and not see the grid lines. So the the lower heart is hiding the grid lines for this one. I did a whole bunch of the double paper cut looking hearts from the first video with the shadow behind it. Oh, I didn't really show you the cupid brush, but for this one, I kind of gave it some texture toe Look it make it look like a stamp and added a lot of texture to the heart stamp behind it. This one is a whole bunch of layers of different colors of heart. Seacon See, here have four layers. The heart stamp will orient to the page. So I turned the page and stamped and turned the page and stamped and turned the page This weigh and stamped and just kind of got them into a heart shape. I'm not super happy with the overall look of this, but I do like this heart tree. And then I did Alfa lock the layers and out a little shading to like two or three of the layers. I didn't worry about the layers that airway in the back and I used about three different tones of Pynchon rant. So that was kind of fun, I think, for the texture. I used a spray paint. Probably that medium nozzle right there. This one has the banner has the straight hurt. What do I call that brush? I called it Hartline. So it's the hartline brush and let it snap to a straight line. Put your finger down. So goes perfectly horizontal, the hearts that are in two tones. And then the faux banners like that, the letters on top and the grid. Are they lying? Brush in the background, all with texture. Oh, distance fund. I really like the look of this one on that banner for this one. I didn't use the liquefy tool on the letters, since it's a short word. I just selected the letters and moved him around a little bit manually. I think that one's pretty self explanatory. This land has a lot of shadow. So, um, made the border duplicated. The border, turned it into a black colored when underneath took Alfa lock off into the gosh and blur on it, so kind of looks like a raised piece of paper. Now, along with all of these, I did raise each layer. So there's Ah, blurred layer under the letter under this paper and under this paper, I'm saying Pay Burgess because I personally think they look like paper. And then I did some fun texture over the top of that whole background. So for this one, I just I didn't even worry about trying to round off these corners myself on this little sort of text box. I just used a really large size on the monoline, and it made perfectly rounded corners doing that when I did the rectangle. I think I already talked to you about while if he's remembering thes heart stamps that I actually used them on a low transparency over here when I stamped This is all Nico Rule and then the Boca Lights. This is just the heart stamp, and then I erased. And then I dragged and dropped to fill color and then the birds. Let's all right, that's my Valentine class. I hope that I've given you a lot to think about and, um, some ideas for you to create your own Valentine's. And if you want to copy any of these, feel free. I know it's sometimes hard to try to learn new skills while you're thinking of how you want things to look.
