About This Class

Welcome to using colour in jewellery design. This class will start by looking at some important basics regarding using colour in design including the use of colour wheels, the names of common colour schemes and how using colour can affect how people feel. Then we can move on to creating a beautiful and unique bracelet using what you have learnt and your own creative flare.

1. Introduction: Hi, My name is Claire and I've been designing and making jewelry for over 15 years. I first began teaching others to make jewelry by writing projects for jewelry making and crafty magazines. In 2010 I wrote my first downloadable tutorial. Since then, I have created a wide range of tutorials and other materials to help other people learn how to design and make jewelry. Thes include an online jewelry making course, PdF downloadable tutorials and e books on books, and she tours for Kindle. This is my first class on skill share on will cover the topic of using color in jewelry design. This includes topics such as color schemes, the impact color choices have on your designs, the color will, colors and emotions and sources of color Inspiration. The class will show you how to choose the color scheme to suit your design on the mood and style you wish to portray as well as get you thinking about how colors of associated with certain aspects of life on how everyday items on experiences can provide inspiration. Class project will be to create a beautiful and unique stitched bracelet using colors that you associate with a favor of yours. This may be a favorite whole day, such as Christmas or Halloween, or could be a favorite place banned film, animal or season, for example, even if you choose the same topic of someone else who jewelry will be unique because the design will be based on your own feelings and experiences. No prior experience of jewelry making is needed to complete this cloth. The videos will teach you all you need to know. This includes how to choose your colors. On the other hand, some shades of pink can make someone feel subdued and tired. 7. Planning your Project: Now you have some ideas on how color on color schemes can be used in design. It's time to begin planning your project. The class project is to create a stitch bracelet using beads and called the bracelets. Theme will be based on a favorite of yours. This could be a favorite place, team, color season, holiday person, character or anything else that you choose. There are no rights or wrongs as this is purely down to your personal preferences and experiences. The first step is to go ahead and choose your theme. Once you've chosen this, think about the colors that you associate with this favorite. Write them down. I've chosen the ocean as my theme, as it's one of my favorite places. It's a pretty wide theme, which is fine, but it's also okay to have chosen something more specific. For example, to see during our holiday to Spain the farmer's market or my childhood Christmas. Once you have created a list of colors that you associate with your theme, you can use the knowledge you've gained from the class videos to create an effective color scheme. Think about the types of color scheme, how colors work together for example, or visit colors and color temperatures on how colors can have an effect on people emotionally and psychologically. The college you choose do no have to fit in exactly with the color schemes discussed in the cloth. Just take care to avoid any known issues.
