1. 1 - Class Introduction: my fellow skills where learners, My name is rolling, and I have already published a few classes here, and this time it's going to be totally different because I would like to focus on something that I loved doing in my spare time, which is photography. And we're gonna start off with understanding our gears and this what we're going to learn in this class. One of the things that we can find out in our cameras. What are the things that we can do in order to make our photographs more interesting and at the same time bring out the great dividend us While we enjoy our passion in photography, I hope before we end this glass, you guys will have a better understanding off your cameras off your gears equipment that you use to find out what else you can do to enjoy photography. What else you can do to make you understand better your gears and be more creative 2. 2 Know Your Camera The Learners: okay, So before I move on to the main topic, this class is actually intended for those who just probably get there first. Cameras, whether it's a DSLR or mirror less where you're shooting, program built or you're shooting those shutter priority, aperture priority or even manuals. This is definitely a good class for you to better understand your gears. And, of course, for those who have been shooting for a while or even a long time, it might also be a good way for you to refresh your understanding off your equipment. So I hope that you enjoy and learn a lot of things from this glass. Please feel free to leave a message, your feedback or comments in the discussion page. 3. 3 Know Your Camera Multiple Exposure: modern cameras are equipped with so many functions and features. In fact, if you better understand your gear, explore them, play along with it. You will find out that you could come up with very interesting photographs and be more creative. In this first part, we're going to find out how we could come up with abstract or serialised photos right from your camera without using photo shop or even doing post any on your mobile film. So the first thing that I would like to share with you guys is the multiple exposure technique. So well, people exposure is when you have two or more images over late together or merge together in one shot. And this creates some kind of artistic, abstract or surrealistic effect. Not old cameras have multiple exposure function. So one thing that you might want to look into is to find out whether your cameras have multiple exposure function. If you have multiple exposure function, then use it flavor. They're trying to come up with multiple exposure photos such as this. Now that is something that you might want to at Derrick or a TV tea. Now, let me share you a few tips that I usually do when I do a multiple exposure photograph. So the 1st 1 is. I call it the Ghost image Effect. Now the thing about ghost image effect is there is going to be a ghost image off the subject just like this. So this is how I did it first. I asked my son to sit on this part, and I took the first shot. If it having the same background, I asked him to move to another side and then take the second shot. Now it creates some kind of ghost image. However, if you're going to look closely into this photo, you will notice that the background is a little bit blurred or kind of like missed up. It's in the biggest. I didn't use a tripod here, so my suggestion in doing this kind off ghost image multiple exposure effect issue need to have a tripod. If you don't have a tripod, you could just put your camera on a stable surface or a stable ground so that it won't shake because when you do a multiple exporters shot, you have to take several shots here, and your camera automatically merges them together. So For example, if this is the first shot and then you want to do a ghost image and you want the background to stay crisp and sharp, then you have to make sure that your camera won't move or it's not going to cause any slight camera shape so that you could have the same background on your second shot. So that is something that you might want to look into when it comes to multiple exposure. 4. 4 Know Your Camera Partial Colour Effect: Another thing for you to come up with abstract or surrealist photos is to find out whether your camera has this partial cover or selective color function. I believe that most cameras, most modern cameras, have this function. The thing about Bartel color is that a photo is mostly in black and white exempt for some areas which are in color now, these areas which are in color, are actually the collars that you choose to key when you set the part of color moat in your camera. Now, to make it simple, let me just demonstrate what it looks like that it's again. One thing that you might want to look into the cameras look for the partial caller effect, all right. So before I move on to the third kind of photograph, where you could come up with abstract or serialised images, let me just tell you one thing about multiple exposure photos and partial color photos on my Fuji exit. 20 multiple exposure shots and partial corner shots are recorded in J. Bank on Lee, not in rock set. For those of you who like shooting raw, this is something that my disappoint you a bit. Yes, for Fuji Siri's there, multiple exposures and partial cars are recorded on Lee in Jae 5. 5 Know Your Camera Long Exposure: And now we're gonna move on to the third kind of photograph that will give you this abstract feel or surrealist field, and we call this the long exposure or motion blur photos or love exposure in motion blur photos. What I normally do here is I shoot in Shutter Priority Boat. Think about long exposure is that you need a tripod to create a good long exposure or motion blur shots, because if you don't put it on a tripod, a slight camera shake might look your photos very, very blurry when doing low exposure shots or motion blur shocks, trying to find out which set things work best for you and then keep that in mind. For instance, in this photograph off the crowded metro station during the rush hour, this shar speed here is at around water two seconds. If you want, expose your shot longer or you want to keep the shutter open for such a long period of finally, say more than 30 seconds. Check your camera for the bulb option or the bald mood, but for the bulb moment, you need to have a shutter release because you're not going to put your finger for more than 30 seconds. Here, it's just gonna be tiring it. It's going to create a slate camera shake, so it's better that you have a cable release or a wireless shutter release so that you just have to press the shutter remotely for more than 30 seconds during the bubble and the city . Then you could pray really good and spectacular light trails, longest porter shots or even motion blur up. Next. We're going to look into the things that you could actually do in your camera in order to come up with some styles or effects that you want to have on your photos, yeah. 6. 6 Know Your Camera Adjusting Colour Profiles: Okay. So in my previous videos, I focused on how to create a serialised or abstract photos without doing any post edits without using photo shop or without anything that on your mobile phone they are just straight out of your camera. And these are the techniques that I shared in my previous videos. Multiple exposure, Barto caller and low exposure motion blur shots In the second part of this glass, I'm going to share on how we could create our own color profiles or old color settings. And this is something that we can actually use when we want to come up with our own style of photos. And we call this the presets. Most modern cameras have caller profiles or color settings, and in Fuji terms, they call it the film Sign relation moat. But generally speaking, this quarter profiles are actually standard vivid, soft in some cameras, they would call it Portrait classic chrome. Well, some of the film simulation most here are not present in other cameras, so the basic ones are standard vivid portrait black and whites or monochrome and sepia. Now, the good thing about this presets are they are customizable, and you can configure them or adjust the settings according to your tastes. So let's take a look at this on my Fuji system. It could actually change the dynamic range, the white balance to highlight the shadow or two tones, even the caller. But it's great out here the sharpness and even apply noise reduction. Now let's choose a color setting or a color profile, so I go here. Cost him setting. You could also find this kind of setting in your cameras, where it allows you to customize the default presets or to default color profile. So if I go here that I have your standard, all the presets standard, vivid soft article in neutral or portrait and so on, then I choose a standard, and here it allows me to customize a default preset, for example, white balance. I could reduce the highlight or even increase the highlight here. Increase the shadow or decrease the shadow. I could even make the collar more saturated or less saturated or muted, increased, decreased the sharpness and even apply noise reduction. The same thing goes with the other caller. Profile suggests this the Velveeta or vivid. I could also do the same thing increased the highlight play with the tones. Atmore saturation, increase the sharpness. And so even for black and white, Let's say this is Actress. This is the black and white version of Fuji you can see here shadow, tone, color. Obviously, you cannot add it to call her here because it's black and white sharpness. Highlight shot of the tones. White balance. So So, actually, in your camera, you could customise or even create your own presets or your own colder profile or colder settings. So now you found out on how you could actually create your own presets here on how you could customise the cameras, default color profiles. Do you have your own? I would say your own style, your both your facts, your own kind of color tones and so on. So again, try to check on your camera standings. Go through the color profile settings. Find out which one works for. You said that the next time you're going to take a photo, you have already what kind of setting you have in mind to say you want to come up with something that is Loki or hiking? You want something that is so colorful or you want something that the cars are a little bit mutant or you want something that is really sharp or you want something that is a little bit contrast e or less contrast. Although these air actually possible when you go through the color profile settings, look into it. You could come up with your own presets. Save it as you go, then choose it the next time you're gonna think photos. So that comes very handy, right? 7. 7 Know Your Camera Camera Filters: The third part of this class focuses on the use off your cameras. Program filters. I believe that many of you here shoot mostly aperture, priority, shutter priority or even manual focus or manual exposure. I am not quite sure if a lot of you guys here have every used your cameras, program filters or if you have ever shot program moat. There's nothing wrong experimenting on your camera, and I would like to share so a few things that you might want to look into your camera under the program Moat. What are these? Actually, if you're going to look into your cameras, it could check this adding, So in my food, you exit 20. I can access the program filters here, and then you can see the following filters, such as the toy camera, which is actually my favorite miniature, which takes photos as if it is taken with a tilt shift lens. Not colder. Hi key Loki. Dynamic tones, soft focus and partial caller again in in some cameras. You might have more than these, so explore your camera, check it out and be more creative 8. 8 Know Your Camera Panorama Mode: All right. So next one up is going to be about the panorama mode again. This is something that not old cameras have. So you might want to check whether your cameras have Panorama boat. If you do have then flavor there. So what? I spend a Ramu panorama mode allows your camera to the serious of shots, and then your camera stitches them up together to come up with a panorama photo. This kind of technique is called Sweet Panorama, where you just have to sweep or pen your camera as huge click the shutter, and then the camera automatically takes serious up shots. And you could hear this, then the camera just them up together to come up with a panorama photo. Now, again, you don't need photo shop for this. If your camera has a panorama mode, Perfect. But if you're Cameron doesn't have this, what you could do is you could just take a series of shots, make sure that it is straightened out in the post, stitch them together, and then you have a panorama photo. Yeah, 9. 9 Know Your Camera In Camera Editing Tool: Now we are in the park, four off exploring your camera and understanding better your gears to come up with creative photographs. Here. I'd like to talk about how you can end it. Your photos in your camera. You don't need Photoshopped. You don't need to think out the SD card or your memory card and put it on a laptop or transfer it on a mobile phone to do your posts. Edit. No, you could actually do that right here, and we call that the raw conversion tool. Most modern cameras have robin version tool it allows in camera editing. Now take note. It says Robin version tools, so meaning to say that it only add it's pictures recorded or shot in raw. So if he only shoot J Peg, then there's no way for you to edit your photos using their own conversion tool. So what exactly a rock conversion tool is, and what does it do? The raw conversion tool is a very useful function that most modern cameras have. It is actually an in camera photo editing. To imagine this. There's a photo shop right in your camera, which it allows you to quickly add it your photographs. Now let's take a look at this photo shot in standard mode, and I am going to use the raw conversion tool to edit this, and they know that I shoot both raw in J. Peg. So I'm going to ask. Is the rock conversion tool here? Then it allows me to add it the photo Based on my preference, for example, I could either overexposed or brighten up or dark in the photo a bit, So let's try to brighten up the photo bit. And then I could even change the caller profile. So I shut this originally using standard, and I want to use vivid. So it's just this. Even adjust the white balance like this here. The white balance shift. It allows me to change the white balance. Then highlight tune. Let's decrease the highlight here shadow. Let's add more shadows, caller. Let's make it more saturated and let's increase the sharpness and let's take a look. Then let's save it and let's compare. So this is they can using the standard mode and after using the rock conversion tool. All right, so what have you learned about your cameras so far? Isn't it interesting that your camera is packed with so many features and functions that you don't actually need to spend a lot of time doing most, and it's on your laptop or your mobile phone. In fact, the better you understand your camera, the more you're gonna love it. And the more you're going to be creative, the more you're going to enjoy. Your passion will eventually hold your skills in photography. So up next, we're going to find out on what we can do with a get leads. 10. 10 Know Your Camera Warp Mode: Now we're moving on to the fifth part of this class, and this time we're going to focus on how you could make full use off your kit lens. All right now, the kit lands usually comes with the camera when you first buy it. And many people think that kit lenses are cheap, which is actually true, and the image quality off kit lenses. It's not really as good as the other lenses. For example, in this Fuji Exit 20 The Kit Lens, it's a 16 to 50 millimeter. It's made of plastic, and it's cheap. Now. I am just a hobbyist. I'm not a professional photographer, meaning to say that I don't need to show my photos to clients or and they have to look into the details event, whether it's really sharp and the colors are really accurate or I don't actually do commercial photography, So there's no need for me to invest on a much more expensive lenses. I'm quite happy with this cheap 16 50 in fact it's not heavy. It's lightweight, so I could take this anywhere ago. It's my old around lens because it goes from why do mid range Zoo now let me share do things that I sometimes shoot with this kit lens. And the 1st 1 is I call it the work mode. But what exactly is a wart mode now? I would like you to take a look at the photos here, which I to with this kit lens. So you know, what is that? The image itself is a little bit strange where it appears like it is being sucked into another dimension. And that is what I call in the war mode. And again, for me to be able to do that, I have to use a zoom lense we just might get let's and let me just quickly demonstrate to you guys and how I could do it. But first, let me tell you what settings I used for my camera. First I said it to shutter priority mode, and then it's at 1/20. Then, as I love under focus on the subject, I could either zoom in to the subject or just get as this and this thing if I keep it as it is. What I'm gonna do next is I'm going to click the shutter. Okay. I clicked the shutter I am going to retake the zoom ring. Okay, I'm going to rethink Zoo Marie, I say Click, the shutter said. They go well together. Same fine. So if I decided to zoom in first, and I'll just have to retain it so that it will go back to the original focal length, which is the 16 just like this again, it goes with the sharper. Now 1/20 is actually the ideal shutter speed for me, because if it's too fast, it might not record the rotation of Zoom because it's quick, it remains crisp and sharp. There's no blurting it. If it's too slow, then the whole photographed with appear very blurry. So I decided to stick to 1/20. So that is something that you could do with your get lends playing along with Zoom. But I don't really suggest doing this all the time, all right, so it's just for fun. 11. 11 Know Your Camera Blurry Shots: now. The next thing that I would like to share is what I called it as the out of focus shots are blurry shots. Ideally, you need to open up your lenses as wide as possible that, say, after 2.0 F one point a or lower. Now, actually, that explosive possible with kit lens even it doesn't open wide at 2.0 because this one opens the why this at 3.5, but still I could create so out of focus shot. So just this and I used my kid lens for that again. It's very simple. Now all you have to do here is do first, switch your lenses to manual focus. Some lenses might have a switch here, a A and M F major. It is switched to MF for Fuji Exit 20. Make sure that it is at M moat. You need to say manual focus because some lenses which have autofocus in it and you try to manually for visit while the order father switches on. What will happen here is that you might damage the autofocus mechanism off your lenses. Make sure that you switch your lenses to manual focus. If you don't have the switch here, try to check in your camera, allows you to switch it to manual focus before you do that, because here you need to adjust the focus. Ring the Group eight Blurred images, So those are the things that you could do with your kit lens. First coming up with the warrant mode and second, the out of focus or blurry shots. Try to be creative using your gears. So in the 1st 4 parts we talk about how we could better understand our camera, such as using multiple exposure. Barschel caller long exposure or motion blur shots. Looking at your color settings and color profiles and having your own color profile. Presets using your camera's program filters using your camera's panorama mode and in camera photo editing to order, often version two. Now this part, we talk about how you could make full use and have fun with your kit. Linds. Yeah, 12. 12 Know Your Camera Wrap Up: we're about and this class. But before I say goodbye, I just want to remind you guys that please feel free to share your photographs. And this is something that I would like it to have us for your project or your assignment and do your best not to. And then, using photo shop or your mobile phone, you could them right in your camera. But you don't have to use photo shop here. My aim here is for you guys to better understand your gears to be Oscar. Eight of us possible Using what you have on your current gear set up, you might want to look into the following that makes first the multiple exposure. Check your cameras if you have that function. If you do, then will play with it and share us your multiple exposure photos, second portal, caller, third long exposure or motion blur photographs. And you might also want to share some of your photos using your own or your cost of mice presets or customize color profiles. Also, what I would like to see are your photographs using different kinds of camera filters under the program mills, such as the toy camera, miniature and so on. Then all the shares us. Also, I would recommend watching Tabatha Parks multiple exposure Class is a very good class for eight to better understand how to create multiple exposure photographs. So you might want to check this group join us because she posed some task for us to shoot every week. So there's a good way for you to come up with creative ideas. And finally, sometimes accidental photos might be the best. So keep those photos. There's a good thing about having digital cameras because we got memory cards. We could keep those photos. Review them. Probably some of your accidental shots such as this. I didn't use any post editing tools here, not even in my camera. I shut this entirely with a black and white settings in my camera. I wasn't able to pay attention under focus, so it came out blurred. But I like it. So it's an accidental, out of focus shots. I hope you learned a lot, especially what comes to understanding your gears before you decide. Investing on a much more expensive cameras or lenses, I tried to ask yourself these questions. Have I fully understood my gear to the point that this camera made me more creative and how I also improved my photography skills with this camera? So that's all about it.
