About This Class

Utah designer Kyle Wayne Benson is here to help you discover your inner type designer. Join him as he builds a custom display font in this 30-minute, project-based class. By watching and joining along you'll learn the process of designing type through reference, lettering, vectorizing, and layout. Through this experience you’ll appreciate current digital type, see why you need to be designing the stuff for yourself, and establish legitimacy in the eyes of your father.

One of the best classes I've ever seen! The coolest guy
I love the humor and wit Kyle mixed in with learning about type. I'm already well under way with my first font, but I still picked up on a lot of tips and tricks during each step of his process that I'll be implementing into my own. Highly recommend enrolling in this class if you're serious about becoming a type designer!
Kyle, the self-proclaimed Internet Fant Scientist, shoots it straight and gives you what you need to know to begin designing your own font. I wish I had this when I got into type design. Beware though. Kyle does not hold back the Benson humor. He lays it on thick... And you will laugh.

Alphabets and a little upsets

Howdy. My name's Kyle Wayne Benson. I'm a letterer and type designer in San Jose. I love clicking the computer mouse and doing graphic designs, and showing others how they too can work the technology. I'm also co-creator of the Passionately Project and a pretty nice guy.
