About This Class
I love to make my own DIY three dimensional flowers, using different materials and techniques. Flowers work for so many different types of projects and occasions and are also such fun to make. So I decided to start a DIY Flower Making series of classes here on Skillshare. First out is one of my favourites, namely tissue paper flowers. I love the look and feel of tissue paper flowers and the idea of making something pretty out of something so plain (and cheap) as tissue paper.
Making your own tissue flowers is easy and a lot of fun, and doesn’t require many supplies. In a few simple steps you can start creating your own paper flower garden. In this class, you will learn to make gorgeous dimensional flowers from ordinary tissue paper. The flowers can be used for gift packaging, turned into magnets, placed in a vase, added as embellishments to arts and crafts projects, and so much more.
Quick and easy techniques will be taught in the class, including:
- How to cut, assemble, shape and give life to the flowers.
- Different kinds of flowers, in varying sizes.
- How to customize your flowers with color (especially mists, but also acrylic paint)
- How to add patterns with stamps.
- Adding finishing touches to the flowers, such as twisted wire stems and leaves.
The class is suitable for beginners to more advanced paper crafters who are looking for inspiration when it comes to creating your own flowers. All you need is tissue paper, a pair of scissors, and a stapler (or brads or buttons). You can find links to the supplies that I used on my blog, in this Tissue Paper Flower Class post. There are also some additional photos there.
I hope you will enjoy the class and I am really looking forward to seeing what you create, so don't forget to upload your projects to the class gallery. It doesn't have to be complete projects.
If you have any questions or comments, please share them in the class discussion area, and if you have any ideas about classes you'd like to see, just let me know and I will see what I can do. :)

An easy-to-follow tutorial for tissue paper flowers. Would be a perfect beginners class as no special supplies are required. Just use what you have on hand. Thank you!
I am a mixed media artist, paper crafter and stamper, sharing inspiration and tutorials on my blog Layers of ink. I have been doing arts and crafts my whole life and started papercrafting in 2002. How lucky I am to have found the joy of making art from paper, dies, stamps, ink, paint and photographs. I enjoy switching between different projects and sizes: cards, tags, mini-books, art journaling, layouts, and canvases. I also do a lot of 3-D projects and home décor/gift items.
I love trying out new and old techniques, to experiment and try different products and tools. I like to include little meaningful details and words on my projects. Building scenes, playing with texture and colour are some of my favourite things. The possibilities are truly endless and every project is a creative adventure.
I am happy to create for some wonderful companies and brands: Sizzix, Simon Says Stamp, Darkroom Door, Eileen Hull, and The Craft Stamper. Former design teams include Tim Holtz Media Team, CSI:Color, Stories, Inspiration, and Craft a Scene.
Education-wise, I have a PhD in Peace and Development Research, and I have studied a wide area of topics within the social sciences, but also some graphic design and web design.
