About This Class

Start a Daily Painting Practice

This class is perfect for beginning or intermediate students that need help getting started or want to return to painting on a regular basis. The focus of the class is on time management and organization with a brief watercolor and oil painting demonstration. Materials and techniques will be briefly discussed.

In this short class, you will learn how to:

  • Evaluate your daily schedule

  • Eliminate time wasters

  • BLOCK out time just for you

  • Create a work space

  • Gather your materials

  • Start a painting

Class Project:

Paint a small still life, landscape, or abstract painting in either watercolor, acrylic, or oil and share your work in the project section of this class.

I learned that I don't need to have a big studio to start painting and that practicing on a regular basis is the best way to improve and learn.
I've been painting for many years but what wowed me was that I learned many new things watching this video and I can't wait to pick up my brushes, and paper or canvas again. It was very helpful!

Hi, I am Heather Winterling Ota, an painter and surface pattern designer living the Pacific Northwest.

I have been painting since the summer of 1979. As an Environmental Studies student, I discovered the joy of painting and quickly applied to art school, and switched my major to painting and drawing. I still love the environment and do what I can to help preserve this beautiful land we live in.
