Project Description

Let's Start (Virtual) Trading!

The Stock Market is a very volatile place for the newbie. Therefore, in order to get used to the "motion of the ocean", students will be asked to open a virtual trading account.

The students will be given a link to free virtual site and asked to create a stock account with a 100,000 portfolio (file with screenshots will be provided). You can use the virtual trading account that comes with your brokerage account if you have one. If not, follow the directions in attached.

The students will be asked to purchase at least three stocks of their choosing. If they have no idea what to choose, I will suggest three stocks.  They will be asked to track the stocks from 7-14 days.

The students may keep the stocks the entire time or buy or sell other stocks.

The students will be asked to make the following observations and  post answers the following questions:.

1. The initial price

2. If you chose your own stocks, why did you pick them?

3. How much did the stock prices increase ( or decrease)

4. Did you sell any stock? Why?

5. How did you feel about the price movement? Would the price action worry you?
