About This Class

The Musicarta Pentatonics Workbook Module One: The Minor Pentatonic Scale

The two pentatonic scales (major and minor) have five notes. These scales are easy to learn and generate lots of music, from folk tunes through blues and heavy metal riffs to pop tunes and mainstream rock improvisation.

Pentatonic scales are perfect for improvising and creative keyboard activities generally because they provide a limited set of notes which sound good over a maximum number of chords.

The five-note pentatonic scales are relatively easy to find at the keyboard and their sound is easily identifiable. This makes pentatonic music ideal for developing one’s ‘musical ear’ and learning to find the music you hear at the keyboard.

This first module of the Musicarta Pentatonics Workbook introduces the minor pentatonic scale with a catchy One-octave Minor Pentatonic Blues to kick-start your pentatonic explorations.
