Project Description

Components of a Hip Hop Record

In this project, you will be creating your own song from scratch using only chord progressions (I recommend using only piano or guitar). For inspiration, I’d like for you to pick one of your favorite songs of all time. This will help to kick start your idea. If you’d like to evoke a similar mood in your composition, this will assist greatly. However, do not simply copy the chord progression. That takes the fun (and the creativity) out of it! Do not worry about composing more than one instrument. The main focus here is to tackle chord progressions into different segments of your song using only piano or guitar.

  1. Find a song that you enjoy for your inspiration and post it
  2. Post what mood you are looking to compose your song around (ex: Happy, Exciting, Sad)
  3. Compose a verse section
  4. Compose a pre chorus section
  5. Compose a chorus section
  6. Compose a bridge section
  7. Give your song a name
  8. Upload your song in audio format
