Project Description

Write a short story about something that happened on a single block, in your hometown, over the course of one hour.

Read my short story Salsa Nocturna as a supplemental guide to the class (you can watch/listen to it in video form, or download a PDF version below).

PRACTICE

You are in this class to write. You have your prompt – now go forth and create!

Share your brainstorm, drafts, and final story in your Project Workspace. Take advantage of this class as a community space to ask questions and exchange feedback.

You will receive the most insightful feedback from asking pointed questions related to the lessons in this class, so identify and ask others to comment on your "4 C's" — character, conflict, craft, and context. What's working? What could be improved?

Remember, writing is all about putting the words on paper. Write from your life, write what's real, and share it with your classmates. Commit to getting it done. I want to hear your voice.
