About This Class

The complete, non-stop SPEAKING Spanish course: Mastery of the basics for BEGINNERS - in a matter of hours, not years.

Level 2 of the complete, non-stop SPEAKING Spanish course: Mastery of the basics for BEGINNERS - in a matter of hours, not years.

Learn basic communicative Spanish with the easy to follow, carefully graded method for complete beginners.

The method allows you to:

► Talk non-stop from the very start.

► Produce thousands of practical frases for daily use.

► Painlessly absorb grammar and vocabulary at  A1 level.

► Progress without effort, without the need to memorise or "study" in the traditional sense.

"Tell me and I will forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn ." (Benjamin Franklin)

EL MÉTODO will allow you to use and understand basic Spanish in a matter of hours, without the need for memorisation or lengthy explanations. This is achieved through a carefully designed method that builds up the language in your mind, step by step, until you are able to form relatively complex sentences with ease.

From the very start, you will be forming your own sentences, effortlessly absorbing structures without even realizing it. The method guides you through basic Spanish in a motivating and stimulating way.

EL MÉTODO  does not teach you theory, it teaches you to speak Spanish and helps you achieve this in much less time than traditional methods.

In EL MÉTODO as in real life, learning is a continuous process, not a series of separate topics. Each new word or structure is preceded by a clear and precise introduction. The process continues as the students use the new word in a variety of different contexts. Repeated exposure to new words and structures over time, in a wide variety of situations and associations, means that these are acquired for life.

EL MÉTODO, level 1, consists of 20 video lessons of spoken Spanish. After every lesson there is a series of written exercises as well an optional musical task.

We will engage you in a spoken dialogue that requires no pen and paper. Just talk, talk and talk. You won't stop speaking Spanish from start to finish. This is the ideal system for beginners to learn Spanish.

My goal with EL MÉTODO  is for you to become "hooked" on the method thereby mastering basic Spanish as quickly as humanly possible.

Best of luck!

Peter Hanley

The non-stop SPEAKING Spanish course

Hello, I'm Peter.

After twenty years teaching languages in France, Spain and U.K it quite clear that the traditional methods used by the majority schools and language academies do not produce good results. Most of the students finish their courses with a very poor command of the language and this, at times,  after thousands of hours of study!

As a result, I have created EL MÉTODO, a new and different approach to the teaching of Spanish for beginners that will provide one with a solid base and a practical usage of the language as quickly as is humanly possible, without the need for laborious memorisation or "study " associated with conventional Spanish courses.

1. Introduction to EL MÉTODO: Do you want to master basic Spanish within the next few weeks? Well, you can, but you will need the right method. Hi, I'm Peter, creator of L Metodo. And for 25 years, I've helped tens of thousands of language students using accelerated learning techniques. Now, I'd like you to experience the same results. A proven method dramatically reduces the time it takes to get the basics down. By the end of the four levels of this course, in as little as eight weeks from now, you will have a full understanding on a practical usage of basic Spanish. But what makes an effective method on why, to most language programs fail so miserably? Most language courses actually applying no method at all they overload frustrating, demoralize you with long winded explanations, boring lists, tables and tests on before too long you have given up entirely. Those of you who started a language for years and years at school with little or nothing to show for it will know what I mean. Now, a strong method instantly gives you that thrilling sense of rapid progress. It's designed to take full responsibility for your learning, relieving you of all the pressure of trying to memorize it quickly, painlessly constructs a solid foundation using simple building blocks because they're constantly repeated on relentlessly recycled in new contexts and combinations. This way, Spanish doesn't just become easy for you to remember, but difficult to forget. With our metal on you immediately start forming and speaking your own phrases. Justus in Life Learning is a continuous cumulative process, not a series of random, unrelated topics. Are students report feeling energized, triumphant and driven forward by the rapid results. They experience their report, craving more and more as they sail through the lessons and levels, soaking up the language with ease with convenient audio lessons, It's easy to fit l metal or into your daily routine along with my native Spanish daughter Jessica. You can join us. Where have you like in a continuous spoken dialogue of thousands of perfectly constructed phrases? By the end of the four levels, you'll be raring to go ready to start exercising your new skills amongst the natives, So join us for the first lesson where El Matador is waiting to get to work on you 2. Guidelines for following EL MÉTODO: before starting the method itself. There are a couple of guidelines for following the course that I'd like to set out in this introduction courses designed to be started from the beginning. Many people, despite not actually being Spanish speakers, do have a certain knowledge of the language. For these people, the first lessons may seem easy, but don't be tempted to skip ahead. The crucial first lessons lay down the solid foundations for future progress, with the language courses carefully designed so that the content of each lesson depends on mastery of the previous lessons. So it's crucial to follow the course patiently and step by step. The next rule is not to write. Please resist the temptation to write things down. This temptation comes due to fear of forgetting new information. Yet without metal, the process of memorization is chief through a carefully designed process of constant reaffirmation on repetition of new language so that memorization is not something that you should concern yourself with. I do, however, suggests that each lessons should be taken perhaps three times each, or until you're responding accurately and rapidly and confidently aim to get 90% of the questions correct before moving on to the next lesson. As far as the course process or format is concerned, you'll be asked to think speak to check on them to repeat as you'll see. Each question we put to you gives you five seconds to think out and speak your answer way, then give you the correct answer for you to compare with your own. There are then two pauses of four seconds each for you to repeat the phrase concentrating on good pronunciation and speed of delivery. You'll also see the written phrase, But don't let that throw your pronunciation off. Keep imitating our voices. Learn with the ear rather than the eye is valuable advice. Double speech bubbles prompt you to repeat a phrase, whereas the solid E. S P bubble indicates that you should think and produce a phrase in Spanish. Let me show you an example of this process in action. The word in Spanish, foot to know to know is sob saab. So how would you say I want to know? Kato Sub kido submitted. So now make yourself comfortable. Relax and allow the method to do its work, and you can look forward to an exciting sense of constant progress with Spanish language. You know, 3. Lesson 1.: Hello everyone, I'm Peter and a warm welcome, or as they say in Spanish, VM Benito Mussolini dorsal mid hello, spanish course. Along with my Spanish daughter Jessica, will be providing the authentic native touch. We both wish you all the best for success, a journey into the splendid language. A good place to start is the word hello, which in Spanish, or law. Or law. You can hear that the initial H is silent. Ola. Hi, yeah. That's it. The next word is I, which in Spanish is Joe. Yeah. The why is pronounced similarly to English, but with a hint of J jaw. Yeah. In Spanish, the way to say I am is your soil. Josh soy. However, it's more common to hear soil on its own. The, you're only being used at times for emphasis, your soil, or more commonly, soil psi. So how would you say in Spanish? Hello, I'm Peter. Hola Soy peta. Hola soy. I'd now like you to introduce yourself using your own name. So how would you say hello, I am. And then followed by your own name. Hola soy. Paula. Sweep. Let's have a quick look now at Spanish vowels. As an English, there are five, but unlike English, each file has only one sound and these are a E. Or can you repeat after me? Are a E. Or the shorter pronounce pure vowels, just as you hear them from me. And to avoid any dip song's meaning saying a instead of a or o instead of o. It may help to think of that as being the father. Father. The a as in egg, and the E as in tree, e, tree, and the o as in pot, pot O. And the O as in the sound a monkey makes. Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh. Pause the video and practice these a few times. To say, as in a dog or a car. We say a coffee is caffeine. Caffeine. And we emphasize the a vowel as it has an accent on it, which indicates the stress. So it's Cafe and not coffee. Cafe. Cafe. Please. Please in Spanish is por favor. Each of the Ours is likely flipped with the very tip of the tongue, 45 or just behind the front teeth. But fiber. So how would you say a coffee, please? Cafes por favor. Cafe por favor. In Spanish, objects and all nouns are considered to be either masculine or feminine. Cafe is masculine, so we use uhm, uhm, coffee. But a Coca-Cola happens to be feminine. So we use Una, Una, Coca Cola. Una Coca Cola. Really trying to get those pure vowels. Coca Cola. Coca Cola. So then how would you say, hello, a Coca-Cola, please. Hola. Coca Cola, por favor. Cola. Coca Cola. And how about hello, a coffee please? Or le cafe au cafe Paul Farmer. The word for and. And is e e? So how do you say a coffee and a Coca-Cola? Cafe e una Coca-Cola. Own cafe. Yona Coca-Cola. And how would you say, hello, a coffee and a Coca-Cola, please? Or law. And cafe e una Coca Cola por favor. Our own cafe unit, Coca Cola put forward. The word for 2 is dash. Dash. The Spanish D is softer than in English and is produced with the top of the tongue flat against the gum Ridge, not with the tip of the tongue in English. So not dead, but the dose, dose with all had said, How would you say to Coca Cola's, those Coca Cola's know, Scalia's. As you can see, just as in English, and S is added to make the noun plural. But please take care to pronounce the plural S as a. And not. As with many plurals in English. So how would you say to coffees? Dose cafes? Does cafes, two coffees and the Coca-Cola. Those cafes, UNA Coca Cola. Those cafes, you like Coca-Cola. A coffee and to Coca Cola's please. Cafe E dash, Coca Cola's por favor. Own cafe. He does Coca-Cola as per flower. Here's a very common and useful formula for asking for drinks and snacks. To ask for a coffee, for example, one says. Met Bonnie cafe por favor. This is a question that sounds weird in translation. You put me a coffee, please. But which corresponds to can I have a coffee, please? Me Bonnie, caffeine, por favor. Or four. Let's just practice the phrase with the vowels only. Repeat please. A or a, o, a, or AA. Or. Now, pause the video and practice those sounds on your own. Now let's put back the consonants. May, cafe, por favor. Nibbana, Cathay per fiber. Okay. So how would you say can I have a Coca-Cola, please? May Bonnie una Coca Cola por favor. May Bonnie una Coca Cola por favor. Now in Latin American countries, this formula will be perfectly understood, though in most parts you're more likely to hear me da una Coca Cola por favor. Meaning you give me, instead of you put me, you give me a Coca-Cola. This version is also perfectly common in Spain by the way. So repeat please, may da una Coca Cola por favor. So whenever we call for the question, can I have or can I get something? Those of you learning Latin American Spanish should respond with this version. So how do you think we would say, hello, Can I have to Coca Cola's and a coffee please? Or law may upon a dose Coca Cola's human cafe por favor. Or law may Pawnee dose Coca Cola's un cafe por favor. So now to really make these phrases stick, Let's practice them rhythmically. Just join in with me when you get the hang of it, and then go back repeating the chant as often as you can to really make it sink in. Coca Cola. Coca cola pour 50 cafe, the cafe owner Coca Cola. Made upon the dose Coca Cola's portable only dose Coca Cola's por favor. Caffeine. Caffeine dose Coca Cola's for 50 before una, coca cola cola or 50. Those cafes, dose cafes. Coca Cola. Coca Cola, Coca Cola, Moon cafe, Cafe, be una, Coca Cola. Coca Cola's Pour 50 mil dose. Coca Cola's portable. Cathy, Cathy ethos, Coca Cola's more. 4. Lesson 2.: The Indonesia should be nuevo. Welcome back to Spanish course for beginners. Let's jump straight back in with our next important word. Thank you. Which in Spanish is gaseous. Yes. The sea of gracias is pronounced as an English, th, as in, thanks, the same word. Graphs, yes. Yes. However, in most Latin American countries, this soft see is pronounced as an S. So you'll hear gracias in Latin American countries, rather than the atheist that you'll hear in most of mainland Spain. To say, thank you very much, It's muchas gracias, literally, Many thanks. Muchas gracias. Motifs get asked. Yes. So if we enter a bar or the like, we would firstly say hello, which in Spanish is Ola. We then order something. For example, can I have a coffee and to Coca Cola's please. Mapo, neon cafe, EY dose Coca Cola's por favor. May pony on cafe dose Coca Cola's por favor. Then we'd say thank you very much. Muchas gracias. Gracias. To say, possible in Spanish, the word is possibly. Possibly. The second syllable that E is accentuated, possibly. Possibly. And the final sound perceived blood. A pure vowel, not a. Don't say possibly. Possibly. Possibly. Impossible. In Spanish is impulsive blame. Impossible? To say it is, or it's in Spanish, only requires one word, S with a nice on the end. Not 0 but S. S. How do we say it's possible? S possibly, possibly. And it's impossible is impossibly, is impossibly. Don't forget to stress the PSI-BLAST. Imperceptibly. To say, for me, in Spanish is bad, I'm me. And to say for you, It's parody. As with the soft D for dose we saw in the last lesson, the Spanish t is also softer than English and produced with the flat of the tongue against the gum Ridge. But at t, not t but t, practice that parity. So how would we say it's for me? A spammy. Spammy. And how about it's for you? Is para ti? Ti. How would we say? It's possible for me is possibly, para mi is possibly bad. Ami. And how would we say it's impossible for you? As impossibly parody? Is impossibly parody. Now then, can you say a Coca-Cola for me? Coca Cola para mi una Coca-Cola polygamy. Now say a coffee for me and a Coca-Cola for you. On cafe para mi, you and I. Coca Cola parity. Own cafe bother me. You know, Coca-Cola. The way to say it's not or it isn't is not S. Not S. So then how would you say it's not for you? Noise, bad IID noise, but at B. And how about It's not for me. It's for, you know, es para mi a spotty. Nice, but AMI is parody. So we've seen that the article is either on or for masculine things. Sooner. Feminine things. In the same way, the word, the changes according to the gender of the object or thing. L for a masculine thing, and law for a feminine thing. L law, both meaning that l law. How would you say the Coca-Cola bearing in mind that Coca Cola is feminine? La, Coca Cola. Coca Cola. How would you say the coffee bearing in mind that coffee is masculine? El Cafe. Cafe. Unfortunately, one can't predict the gender of something unless it's obvious like a man or a woman, a boy or a girl. As you acquire new words in Spanish, don't try to analyze the nature of an object looking for some inherited masculinity or femininity, it doesn't work. We must therefore learn the article el la Una, along with each word. The Coca Cola is for me. Law, Coca Cola es para mi. Coca Cola, spammy. The coffee is for U L T, L cafe is parity. The Coca Cola's for me and the coffee's for EU law. Coca Cola. Cafe de la Coca-Cola is Pala me coffee. The coffee is not for me. It's for you. In caffeine noise para mi El Cafe noise, Bellamy. It's not possible for me. Know, is possibly para mi nice, possibly Bellamy. It's impossible for you. Impossibility, but now it's time for our chance. Join in when you get the hang of them and repeat as many times as you can. This wonderful practice will really help speed up your learning and place the language in your long-term memory. Like Coca-Cola is para, mean? Like Coca Cola is a Coca Cola is bad. May yell cafe is bad ad. Like Coca Cola is para. La. Coca Cola is I'm like Coca Cola is me. Yet cafe is bad. It can send know inspires me. A Coca Cola is para, mean caffeine know as para mi caffeine knowest me. Like Coca Cola, S bar and gesehen no es para mi is in perceived layer. Perceived blame. Me. Know, is perceived blame bad. I know is perceived blame me. Blame. The perceived blame me. Know, as perceived by that I know is perceived blame me. 5. Lesson 3.: Well, welcome back to El Matador. Welcome to class number three for beginners. As we continue laying the solid foundations for your mastery of the basics of the Spanish language as we learned in the last class, the way to say it's for you is s Barratt d espada de. If we wanted to form the question, Is it for you? There's no change. Only the inflection changes. S Paraty espada t. So how would you say? Is it possible? It's possibly Yes, possibly. How would we ask the question? Is the Coca Cola for me like Coca Cola is part of me? La Coca Cola's Bahrami is the coffee for you El Cafe Disparity ilk Office Party. The word important again is very similar in Spanish. Importante important. Can you say it's important? It's important thing. It's important. Is it important? A simple one day. It's important there. It's not important noise. Important day? No, it's important. Is it important for you? It's important. A parody. It's important. Deputy, The word for good is bono. When and bad is Melo. Magglio, can you say it's good? S bono? It's bueno. It's bad. Is Melo Ismael Lo? Is it good It's more you know it's Bueno. It's not good. No es bueno noise. Bueno. It's good for you. It's Bueno parody. It's bueno para ti. It's not good for me. No es bueno para me noise bueno para me. The word for very very is my my Be sure to get a nice who sound in there before finishing on a on a light e sound movie movie. So then how would we say it's very good? It's movie bueno. It's my buena It's very bad for you. It's movie Mollo Parody Is my melo Bharati Now for the rhythmic chance as usual, just joining when you get the hang of it. It's no way, No way, no, but I mean way. No, But I mean it's way Know that I need It's weighing on my mind I mean way. No, but I mean way Iss, iss, iss is no is No, no is we might know, But I mean no s way might know about 6. Lesson 4.: Well, welcome again. Welcome to Class four of L Metodo. Let's get straight back down to work to catch someone's attention with Excuse me in Spanish is better. Donny failed. Only just take some time to practice flipping that are so it's not a trilled. R. It's not payroll Adani, but a single touch with the tip of the tongue against the gum ridge. Better Tony build only. So how would we say, Excuse me, Can I have a Coca Cola, please? Maradona Una Coca Cola por favor. Belladonna. Maypole noona. Coca Cola por favor. A water as in a glass of water. The water is Managua, Managua, and you can hear that the accident or the stress falls on the first. A Managua, Managua. A beer is una cerveza, una said Visa. This word requires practice to pronounce correctly, and here the difficulty lies in the continent's. Both the initial C on the Z or the said are pronounced as English. Th is Sarah Baesa, Sarah Visa, as in thank you cerveza and the V is a very light be, in fact, with the upper and lower lips. No teeth involved, as in an English V, the upper and the lower lips come together extremely lightly. Cerveza not, sir Betha. Not an explosive be but a very soft one. Cerveza, Cerveza! Do pause the video until you're comfortable pronouncing this. At least in my case, very useful word. Sarah Baesa Said Theresa. For those of you who will be using Latin American Spanish both the initial C as well as the Z A pronounced possesses. So we get una cerveza una cerveza. So then how would you say, Can I have a water? Please May pony Woon Agua por favor my opponent A whopper farmer. And how about Can I have a beer? Please May pony una cerveza por favor my opponent Una cerveza por Farber. So then how would you say Excuse me? Can I have a water and a beer, please? Better donate May pony Managua e una cerveza! Por favor. Belloni, my bone! You now United way sample, Father! And how about Excuse me? The coffee is not for me, Baadani. Cough it. No Espada me build only ill coffin. Respond me? No. Then do you remember how to say I am your soy your soy or simply soy? So how would one say I'm bad Somalo showing Melo now a girl or a woman doesn't say soy Melo . But soy moloch as the adjective is feminine here. So I'm Ella showing Moloch. And likewise how does a woman say I'm good? Soy buena soy buena And how does a man say I'm good? So I bueno side window How would a man say I'm very good. So am I. Bueno. So the more you, Wendell. And how would a woman say I'm very bad? Show him we Moloch saw him win Moloch. The way to say I'm sorry in Spanish is lost siento which literally means I feel it lo siento haciendo and the word for But is bero again? Here we have a light single flipped our Pero don't roll the r and say Pero because that means a dog Bedol fatal. How would we say I'm sorry, but it's very important. Lo siento, Pero is more important day lo siento better is more important. And what about I'm sorry, but it's not possible. Lo siento better noise. Possibly you're seeing top it on race. Possibly the way to say I'm not I'm not, Is no soy? No Sorry. So then how would we say, I'm sorry, but I'm not Carlos. I'm Peter Lo siento, Pero no Soy Carlos saw it. Peter lo siento better know so Carlos. So, Peter, how would we say I'm not very important? No. Show him we important day. No, Sorry, my importante. The way to say I have in Spanish is dingo. They resist the temptation to say tengo it's not a dip thong. Oh, tengo the in tango means I It's not necessary to say George tengo just tango. The way to say I don't have is no tengo no single. How did we say I'm sorry? Which means I feel it in Spanish. I'm sorry, Lo siento, Lucinda. So as law siento means I feel it. How would we say I have it, Lord Tango lot tingle. Good. So we see that the pronoun it unlike in English goes first before the verb. How then would we say I don't have it? No. Lo tengo? No nothing. Can you say I have a beer? Tengo una cerveza Dingell nasadv Issa And can you say I don't have a coffee? No tengo un cafe. No tingling coffee. And can you say I don't have it? No Lo tengo No nothing. A car in Spanish is, um koce I got in Latin America. The word for a car is generally on Caro. Um Carro, Whenever we have a double are in Spanish, it's rolled or trilled. When Caro if I were single, are it would just be a light flip. But it is a double our It's rolled on Coro, How would we say I don't have a car? No tengo coaching nothing on God. And what about? I'm sorry, but I don't have a car. Lo siento better No tengo Whom? Coach lo siento better. Nothing on. Gotcha. Now let's practice the language from this class with the falling rhythmic chance. No, Sorry, Carlos Lo siento No soy Carlos lotion. Don't know. So I can close Peter lo siento? No. So Maria haciendo no siento? No So Maria Sweet siento no soy lo siento. No. So in siento no soy, no siento, no strain Mollo siento no show, no sign Siento No, it's Palatine. Siento no is no siento Better know is dirty. Espera me siento No, it's bueno para ti lo siento a swim. Melo Barony Lo siento no is one of a variety lossy indoor 7. Lesson 5.: Hello and welcome to Class number five, which means that you're no longer a complete beginner but beginning to move forward in the mastery of the basics of the Spanish language. So we said last class that a car in Spanish is done coaching I got. And how did we say I don't have a car? No tengo on coaching. You're not thinking Got And how about I'm sorry, but I don't have a car. Lo siento better nothing Whom? Coaching lo siento better. Nothing on Gotcha. How would we say the car is very good? A coach? It's my boy. No coaches, my bueno The way to say I want I want is jokey ero Yoki ago. But as usual, the I the jaw is not required And we can just say Chiaro Chiaro So how would we say? I want it? I want it Look yellow Look yellow. And how about I don't want it? No Loki ero No Okiro. Can you say I want to? Coca Cola Caro una Coca Cola? You don't know Coca Cola. And how would we say? I don't want to Coffee. I want a beer. No, Karen Cafe Caro Una cerveza. No, kidding, Kaffee Katona said, How would we say I have it? La tengo no tingle. And how about I want it? Loki ero look yellow The way to say I need in Spanish is necesito meth aceto again Here. Be sure to pronounce the sea as an English th neth aceto Meth aceto. Now, as we saw before Speakers of Latin American Spanish What? Pronounce this? See the soft see as an s Necesito Necesito So how would we say I need it? Loan Esposito la necesito And how would you say I don't need it? No la necesito no la necesito Can you say I need a car? Necesito coach Nothing's he don't go to And how would we say I need a beer Necesito una said nifc Donut said with the word now now in Spanish is I order out as h is not pronounced in Spanish We go straight from the A to the o r order I order How would we say? I want it now located o our you'll kid out How would we say I want it? But I don't need it now Lo Caro better Nolan Esposito Our look it up. It'll normal necessity. Our the way to say like that or ended that way in Spanish is one word I see. I see. Make sure you accentuate the second syllable. E a c. I see. How would you say it's like that? It's a C, it's a C. And what about It's not like that noise. I see noise, etc. I need it like that. La necesito See? How would we say? I don't want it like that? No lo care. Oh, I see. No Lo De Rossi, Can you say I'm not like that? No soy or c? No. So yes, e. I'm sorry, but it's not possible like that. Lo siento Baron noise possibly a c lossy and open a noise, possibly a C on the last word in this class is appropriately goodbye which in Spanish, you probably know is Adios have you us? So how would we say goodbye and thank you very much. But the moochers graph AEA's Have you seen mood Tasgola Thea's practice These rhythmic chance until they're easy and just roll off the tongue? No, no, no. Necesito moochers no lo siento noise. Me. Look! Look here. Oh, no, no, no Loan Esposito. I see 8. Lesson 6.: Bienvenido sixth class say the elevator. Welcome to the sixth class of Spanish with tomato. The method designed to give you a solid understanding and a practical usage of basic Spanish Aziz quickly as is humanly possible when asking How are you in Spanish? There are two possibilities depending on whether you use the formal or the informal form. If the person is much older than you were in a position of authority, one would say Go moist. Stop Comunista for all other cases friends, family people were similar age or Children and s is added to give the informal common west us go moist us. So in Latin American countries you're here, I said, Where is in most of mainland Spain? You'll hear affair to say to do it. The pronoun law, meaning it goes after the verb and actually hooks onto the end of the infinitive form at their law. So the pronouns in Spanish hook onto the end of the verbs when they're in the infinitive. A r i r e r forms in all other cases as we've seen before, the pronounce proceed the verb But do remember that they hook onto the end off the infinitive forms.
