Welcome to this lecture. So in this section, we will be defining what solid walkies to start slowly works Is a mechanical design software. So what does that mean? It means that the best way to think about it is any physical part. I can actually be manufacturer, um, to sell. Or just think about your car or any your cell phone, your vacuum, or any physical item you have Chances at those items are designed in solid walks or its software That's similar to solid works. So I know that way to define solar walks is suddenly walks is a feature based off. So what does that mean? It means that when you look at this part, for example, these are the different features that I used to make this one part. So they are like the little pieces you need to make a whole pot. So any time you haven't assembly like this one where you have multiple components, it is just not a feature is actually multiple parts. In the the fire extension would be solid assembly, which is spell S L D s m. So, to recap, do you have your sully part foul which is spelled S L d p rt. You have your sunny drawing foul. Which a spell S L D D R w and you have your stolid assembly foul, which is spelled s L. D. S. And don't worry about having to physically put those extension in where you save solid works. Design Intent: Hello. Welcome back. So in this lecture will be talking about design intent. Design intent is very simple. So go away to think of design intent is you are thinking of it in a way as to when you I want to design. For example, This part is your plan off action and how you think that part should be designed so that when you try to update it in the future, it makes it easy for you to update. So I'll show you an example. So if I wrote this part back, you can see the design intent for this part. These two features were created first. Welcome back in this lecture, we will be talking about opening solid works for the first time. So this in this class, my plan is to actually Butte the lecture upon the previous lecture. And on this section over here, you have the statue option. Usually calls with the solar works help. But I usually click on this drop down iroh and change it to statue combat. So when I'm in here, unless there's a command you want, but you don't know how to find it, you can type it in here. Welcome back. So in this lecture will be starting our first file to start designing force part just that we want to click on this new right here. Opening and Closing Files: Hello. Welcome to the next lecture. So what we'll be doing in this lecture is actually opening and closing fouls and solar works to start, make sure you download the project accent for this lecture and save it somewhere convenient on your computer. That is easy for you to access. So what we wanna do is now we want to click on this icon that says open and the shortcut is control and we'll click on this folder and right up here. That is where you one of browse on the site. Rather, you want to browse to the file location so minds is on my next up and I will play calm. So the world class and I have the shaft drawing in the pot file. So I want to click on the part file and I want to stay open, and that is free. Much are you Open that file and you can also open the drawing less open the drawing to click on the open folder, browse to the location and select the shock down open. And that is pretty much all you open that file and solid works. Another way you can open files is you can go right into the four. That way you have saved the drones or the part file and double click on them and it's gonna open. It sort of works directly. So those are the two ways you can open file or the shot clock, The short, cocky control. So to close this pretty much simple. You can, either. So this will exit out of it. So what you want to do is you wanna click on this X ray here, This X up here close is solid works completely. And this extra here closed the current drawing all part file or assembly that you are walking. And so click on this. And as you can see, it's gonna actually where you want to save. We'll click, don't save, and it excludes that drawing, but are part file still remains open. So what we want to do is close this as well. So we're just gonna clean clothes and it excludes are part filed by Sunday. Walk still remains open, and if we want to close solid works directly, completely, we can click this X Oh, we can exit it over here, so that is pretty much and we actually still in a new part file here, which is indicating by this ex up here, we can also click on that X closing. Now we are just slowly works and we just back to the studying page where we can start a new part foul open and we can close that it wants directly from hope here. In this lecture will be talking about how to control your model and some other works. So let's open back the shaft hand than we previously opened. So now you have your shaft. I'm hoping so. And if you that is pretty much the way I navigated. But I pretty much just used to screw. We'll zoom in and out and rotated. And if I need to move it, I hold down the control key and moving left and right. So that's pretty much the basics off what you were used to move your part around. Changing Units: along Welcome back. So in this lecture will be lending out to change the units and started walks. So start less open the file we were previously working on, which is the shaft up. So we'll click on this and select the shaft and select Open and let's open the drawing as well. Click back on the photo, select the shaft time and open. So we have the drawing in the pot file open. And one trick that I used to navigate between both found that I have open and Sally works right now is you press the R button so the R button brings up. Bring up brings up your recent documents and you can select whichever one you want and not get so remember they are. But and so now we have this part file and let's just go into the sketch and we can see that the this drawing is in inches and the way I went into the sketches, you click on this, drop down rightly on the sketch and click the edit sketch. So that's I get into this thing, and that's how you get into the edit sketch mood. And now we can see the sketches and inches, so we want to change it to millimeters. So what we do is click this options box up here. We want to go into document properties you needs and inches. We want to change its a millimeter. And over here you can change how many deaths in my places you want it and the angle and all that stuff and you'll click. OK, as you can see now, the sketch has been changed to millimeters us and we can exit out of it now. This document is in millimeter. Let's press they are button and select the drawing. The drawing is also in inches. We wanna go back into the document their options again. Document properties, you needs select millimeter click. OK, As you can see, the unit has changed millimeters. That is pretty much how you change units and slowly works. Remember Options Document Properties units. Thank you. And I would see you in the next lecture by 10. Saving Files: Hello. Welcome back. So in this lecture will be looking at how to stay 1000 solar works to start less open back The last five we were working on the shaft hand and click open. So now that different alternatives and options you have to save file in solar works. The first is you can press control s to save your foul. Welcome back in this lecture will be talking about the user interface. So this is pretty much our user interface. But for this particular lecture, we're gonna be talking about the menu bar pull down, which I think is up here. This is your menu, Bapu down. So they are pretty much the same option as what you have here. They just have them listed in multiple places and solid works, so there are different ways to access them. So as you work and solid works, you are goingto come up with better way off an efficient way of modelling, which is your own style. From what I've seen, nobody, not everyone matters the same way. So you will come up with your own way that works. So to start we have are found, which is pretty much you have your new foul opening new foul started new open closing file and making assembly from part file saving and all that option here on your edit, you have the same thing as what is up here, which is you can re Butte reviewed is when you change something and you're you press the rib ute. Welcome back in this lecture will be covering the feature manager designed tree, which is this section right here. This section is very important when we are modeling because it contains a couple of tools we need to actually make a model. So we're just gonna call about this couple of types. So the 1st 1 is the future manager Design tree. You're gonna be working in this most of the time. You have your property manager, configuration manager, expat manager and display manager with my cover this configuration manager some point at some point in the lecture. But for now, you don't need to worry about it. And most of your modeling, you're gonna be doing it in the future Manager Design tree. So in this tree, what you have is you have the first important thing we have in this. Trees are planes, so we have the front plane, top plane and the right plane. This plane are what we would sketch on, You know, not to be able to make our features. We are going to cover this more in details. When we get into the scare into sketching and I know that important. Then we have on this feature Manage. Entry is our origin point. So the origin point is pretty much this point, which lets you, um, locate your part relatively to the world. So the rule that what I always do is and at most people that matter in solid works actually do the same is you want to make sure that your motto is always constrained to the origin point and you build your mother from there. So that way, everything is fully constrained and is actually much easier tomato that way. So you always want to make sure your mother is constrained to the origin point. And right on that the origin point we have our features, which are the pieces that I used to design this one part. So for this particular part, we have extrude we have another extrude we have a fill it and we have another after late in some cases where you might have a part that is more complicated.
