About This Class

In this class I'll show you from start to finish how to make stylized greenery with Procreate.

This class is very detailed, with step by step instructions, perfect for beginners who want to master a bit more the Procreate app. I'll walk you through clipping mask, blending mode and layers. I provide a free brush to achieve this fluffy textured look, and three color palettes, available in the resource section to download. You're welcome to use your favorite brush and colors if you like.

1. Introduction: Hello, module, welcome to my new class. I'm CCl, a French artists, both digital and traditional. This class, I will show you how to draw stylized coronaries. I'm using a brush that I provide in class to achieve this fluffy and textural effect, I also provide three color palettes so you can achieve different moods. This class as a very detailed, step-by-step perfect for beginners. And I explained everything from making the individual elements like trees, bushes, and Ras. And then we will make two different composition during the class. At the end of the class, you'll be able to make your own art wherever your slide is. So I'm really happy to see you again, and I hope you'll join me in class. So let's go. 2. Your project: Welcome to the class. Your project will be to make greenery composition. And you have two projects that are very detailed in class. Once you have learned the technique, you will be able to go for whatever you like. So first composition, we will look in detail in this one, it's flat, one with different layers. The second one will be a circle. And I provide three different color palette. So this one is a pastel palette. This one is green palette. But you can also decide to do it in a moral fall. Colors. So this is a one we will be seeing in second part of the class. And as I said, once you master the technique, you'll be able to make your own composition. Little things like this, or maybe a full landscape. Something a bit more. Trees only. Go back to pastels, colors. Well, the complete scene, depending on your style. So don't forget to post your project in the resource section so we can all see what you come with. 3. Brush and palettes: How to download the brush and the palettes. So I'm using Safari and I'm working on the draft version of the class, so maybe there will be more information. Well, anyway, good. The project and resources section and on the right, you have all the resources available to tap on the 12th B, pencil, brush. And maybe you will have a message or warning. Do you want to download? Obviously, I do. So it tastes just couple of seconds. So it's here, tap on it. And now it's opening the downloads folder for me. So I tap on this and it's already importing it in Procreate. So it should be in the imported folder. It's the last one on the very bottom of the brush folders and it should be the first one on top. Before we begin, I want to talk a bit about the brush I provide. So I called it 12 B pencil because it's really heavy brush, very, very large. And before we begin the first exercise, I'd like you to practice a bit, just a couple of minutes to get used to the brush. So if you are full capacity and full size, this is a kind of marks you can make. Okay, So very large. And of course you can move your slider and get very thin lines. Though it's very versatile. And also the angle you'll be using your pencil on the iPad will make different marks. So very vertical and very tiled, you'd get a different effect. And also it's really pressure sensitive. So if I press slides or if I press hard, you don't have the same thing. Also, what's interesting, if you get another color and you place on top of the previous one, you can get a really nice texture. So really it's cool brush. I have tweaked the 6 B pencil actually to make something a bit more brave. Okay, so just practice for a couple of minutes. Also, don't forget to download the pellets. You have three of them. Green one, a pastel, one. For one. How to import the pellets? Amusing safaris till you go to the Projects and Resources section. You have the three pallets here. So tap on it, accepts download. Go to the downloads, tap on it, tap again, and it's importing it in Procreate. And to retrieve it, you go to the Color Swatch and it should be at the very bottom. You see I've been testing it before. Sometimes I don't know why it in the very top of it. Never mind. You'll find it, I guess. And last thing you want to check as the pencil pressure. So go to the wrench, breath and edit pressure curve and mine is looking like this. The first node is a bit above the line, and the last one is a bit on the left. And it's kind of S curve works really well for me because I have wrist problems. So I have used this pressure curve. It really smooth and the way you are pressing, I'm almost just touching very likely. So make poles maybe grab a screenshot and try this in your procreate settings, you will see if it works for you. So now moving on to the first exercise and let's make some brushes. 4. Drawing bushes: To make bushes, we will use Canvas. This is a screen sized canvas. It really doesn't matter. This is just exercise to practice and to discover what we can do with our brushes. So first thing, I will work with the greenery palette, the realistic one, so to speak. Of course, using the 12 B pencil, this is the one we will need for everything almost in the class. And I will work at large size. It's about 50 percent and makes some bushes shapes. So what I want to do is take different colors and try different shapes. This is very stylized, of course. Alright, so let's grab this with the arrow tool and swipe down three fingers. Copy. Swipe down three fingers. Paste. Another time. Paste. So we've got three identical rows of bushes. So let's merge this together. And now we will add different effects on top of this one. So the class is working always the same way. We have a layer with the shape of it, with the color of it. And let's place another layer on top and tap on it, and tap on clipping mask. So what is doing clipping mask? Let's grab a red so you can't see. I can place a large brush strokes. There will be only visible where there are pixels in the layer below. So let me show you this. I'm drawing this and it's only showing where the trees. And you can see my brush strokes. If I remove the clipping mask, you can't see really all the red. Okay, so let's undo this. Check this is clipping mask and you have a little arrow here. You'll see very small, but you can see it hopefully on your iPad. And this layer, I will place it on multiply. So what multiply does is taking the same color then below. So I'm pressing my finger here just to grab the green one. And this is the exact color, but multiply we'll dark unit and as we are on clipping mask, we will have a shadow, the exact same color, darker. Just where is the bush? Like this, for example. So use a child pencil just to get this texture because if you go straight, you will have a solid color. And this is not what we want here. So this is something really cool to make. You can of course, vary the angle of the lines. So let's say this is lit from above, this is lit from the upper right, and this is lit from the upper left. And here I'm a bit more detail in the shadow here itself bit more stylized. So depending on your style, I will give you different IDs and you will select what is best for you, what you like. This is very important. And some colors are really darker than others when they are on multiply. So you can make tries. Different ways to add a shadow. For this is forced shadow. And now let's add a bit more items on this, stylized and lemons. For this. I'll tap on my original layer and tap on plus. So I'm adding a layer between the shape of the bush and the shadows. And shallow was on clipping mask. The new one will be automatically on clipping mask, so you have nothing more to do. And let's grab a color, a bit contrasting like a light pink for example. And I'm lower this and lowering the size of the brush about 25 percent. And this is clipping mask. So maybe a bit less. Now, 15% is cool. And we will add some elements here, some branches. So I'm following the shape of the bush. And as I'm below the clipping mask of the shadow layer here, my branches will be darkened as well. And maybe this is not what you want. So place a layer on top of everything and trace on your Bush. But now I am not on clipping mask. So everything as going outside, that might be cool. If you want to do something like this. Maybe like here for example. You can have a full branch going on the floor as well. It's grab a yellow. This is fun to do here, is to make it smaller. Some branches like this. Very cool. Also, what we can do is make some circles. Give you different examples so you can select what you like. There is straight lines. I like the fact that the shadow is on top. So it really makes sense to me because everything should be in shadow, the bush and the branches as well. What we can do also is make some little dots. So try to vary the size of your dots. And I like to make them mostly in the late part of the bush. And also go back to the original layer and grab the eraser tool. I will get the same one. So the 12 B pencil. And I will cut out some elements in the bush. And you will notice that the brush has a point edge and the edge is at the beginning. So you need to go this way, not this way, because the edge is a bit larger. While you have your eraser, you can also make little holes in your Bush. Because why not? And you can also use this here. Of course, it makes sense when you have something behind. So another color, you can very rarely, the color you're using makes a huge difference, huge impact on your Bush. And also there is one I like, which is like an S. And I think we are good to go for the trees now. 5. Drawing trees: Let's make some trees. So I have set up account as the screen size. And I've switched my polite to the greenery pastel because we need to change some time. So rubber color and let's make some shapes through the trees. Increases size. So those one usually come in a row. And you can vary the eight of the tree. So let's say there is a line for the ground. I'm placing this line to help you decide the aid of the tree. You see I have a large trunk. Higher. Yeah. Right. So same thing, swipe down three fingers and duplicate because I will only make two of them. And let's merge this. Okay? So layer on top clipping mask multiply or is the same thing. Each time I select the color with my finger and I will make a shadow. So let's decide this time. The sun is coming this way and the row below the sun is coming this way. So I will make all the shadows. Okay, so maybe you'll discover your more comfortable on one side than the other. I personally prefer when the light is coming from the upper right because my brushstrokes are easier for me during this way then this way. So depending on if you're right or left-handed. So I will make my shadows always coming from this side of the Sun. Why not? So add a layer below the two, between the two. And we will work on the trunks and branches. So a trunk, if you want to have a trunk coming from behind the tree, you will need to place a layer below the tree. So for example here on just a simple trunk. And if you want to have a trunk coming above, you need to place a layer on top of everything. Because sometimes the simple, the simplest one. So if I remember, well, now there is no streamline on the brush. So maybe you want to add a bit. Okay, so these are the two most simple trunks you can get on trees. And let's make something a bit more interesting. And don't forget to vary the colors because really it makes a huge difference. I will go to my layer between the two ones and make some marks this way. And this one later I go on top and I get back the branches and make like a bush. This one is interesting as well. Let's grab a pink trunk. And I will make some lines. I'm pressing a bit harder just to have a bit wider trunk. What's important here is that your true branches are at the same hate because otherwise it's maker. Why? That's really not fun. And this one I will make it from behind. So it's the same tree, but it makes a different look depending on which one you use. So let's go below and make something we did on the bushes. And from behind. Those two ones are quite simple. You can make just vary the width of the trunk. Or you can do something on top with pale yellow. And another one that is quite tricky, actually. 98 something up it higher. And we will make on top of it orange dots. And this one is tricky really. Now the one that is cool. We did for the bush. I like the amount of branches it has and get all the branches coming like this. So it's really different if it's very thin or very heavy. I found out that if your brushstrokes are fast, your lines are better. Or we don't look for botanical accuracy to save that list. And another one on top. Okay, so now we made bushes and trees. Let's make some grass. 6. Drawing grass: So grass, you have different ways to do this. Let's make a plot line. Okay, Place layer on top of this. So this is still a screen size. And I'm still on the pastel palette. Well, maybe it's a bit wide. So I'm making kind of a House bush. And using the eraser tool. I'm just creating a cutout. Other way to do this is to take the lesser tool, make sure this is freehand, is selected and draw roughly half circle. Grab your brush, will take a darker green, gets a size about 20 percent. Maybe. Make some radial lines. Tap on the lasso tool again to unselect and you have a different trees, sorry, grass, or you can do it free hand. Of course. It's a different style. Let's make another line. You can also use like on bare branches like this. These are fillers in our composition, so it's not a big deal, It's just to add some interests. So I'm duplicating this. Adding some little tops. And it's the same branches, but just adding some buttons or flowers. It's different. It's more interesting. And also you can be a bit more, longer, softer. Okay, So this is not very important, I would say. Okay, so now we have bushes, trees, and grass. I would advise you to export all those image. The three images there will be your reference to work from. So I will export this and save image. So it's called the three of them. And we will work on the different composition. 7. Composition 1 - sketching: So let's make your first composition a simple one. And we will need about 15 or 20 layers maybe. If you want to print it, I would advise you to get the biggest canvas possible depending on your iPad. Mine is iPad second gen, iPad Pro, second John, he H in maybe I don't remember. And I will create a new canvas. I'm working in pixels. So I have, here, I have the maximum layers. So I want something rectangle. So maybe let's go for 6000. By 4000. It makes 18 layers. Should be enough. And let's create this one. You have created this, you can go to the Wrench Canvas, canvas information. And here we run the physical width and hate. So this one is 50 centimeters by four centimeters, so it's quite large. I'm able to print large number of sizes just from this canvas to adjust accordingly to your iPad. Let's first think about the composition. So let's grab black and lower the opacity and think of what we want. We want different planes, I would say so 123 maybe, so maybe in the background, we need to have large trees. We want to vary the hate. So for, for now it's really rough. Okay. Just doing some. I want to vary the skyline, so to speak. I will see after the designer want to use, I feel there is something missing here. Yeah, it seems to be interesting. Also, I will have a large background, so I don't want everything to feel in the page. And let's call this background layer on top, rename it to middle. And another. This is fronds. Okay, so let's play something in the middle. And I will lower the background opacity just not to be disturbed. And I will add lower trees or bigger, big bushes. I don't know yet. I need to have some shapes that are a bit different. This will hide everything. Okay, in the front. So let's lower this as well. And the front I will lower bit my floor line. This is really rough, but you don't need to be precise. Okay, So it's a mess. No mind. This is a sketch. So what I want to do is decide who's in front of h2. So obviously, the front one, I need to erase everything that is behind this. So I need to go to the background layer and erase everything that is below. Well, I'm not married to this drawing. I will just when making the final drawing. So I have three layers. One is the very background, the middle ground, and the foreground. So I can merge everything lower and rename this sketch. So I lower the opacity and I will place a layer below. 8. Composition 1 - colors: So grab my 12 be as usual. And let's make the layer that is in the very background. And I already see that I have different layers in this layer. Okay, So let's draw. This one is really in the back. And my advice would be to first place the background color because it will change everything for your painting. And let's place a color to begin with. It seems to be a bit dark. So go to the Magic Wand, Hue, Saturation, Brightness layer. Wanna tweak it a bit like this. It's a matter of style. You can decide to go blue or green or whatever. I'd like to go pink. Why not? This is just that I will avoid this color now because it won't pop up on the background. But I can use a light yellow. And I can make what is really on the back. And I'm making the full shape of the tree on purpose because you never know where you will move later. So if you just let say, draw what's visible like this. And later you want to move this tree, it won't be possible. So plus, it's easier to feel a complete shape than a part of the shape. So what I want to do is draw everything that is on this very, very far away layer. So this one too. Hello, I'm trying to use mostly pale colors in the background. And the palate I provide is just a suggestion. Of course, you can use yours or tweak the colors that are in the pellet. And here I have another lapping tree. So maybe this one will be below as well. So a mu in this orangey, making it lighter. Let's place a layer on top and rename it back to, well, I will give them numbers here. So the trees are on top of the previous one. And think of the colors. For example, I have two regions here, so I will use a different hue here. Maybe a yellow like this. So this is opaque and this is covering the layer below, of course. And you can make your shapes with a sharp hedge or with a more blurry one. It's really a matter of style. So I'm tiling of it. My brush, my pencil, make a blurry edge. This is a puzzle at some point. And as I said, I'm not married to my drawing layer. So I can change a bit the shapes if I want. All right, to number 3. What's on top of this? And I will say this is this tree. Grab some bluish something. And I'm varying the size of my circles because it will look like Mickey Mouse otherwise. So now I can go with something that is in the middle layer, but it's still on top of the previous one because I don't want to have a turn and a ton of layers. And thinking about how the colors are going upward need a bit of this blue about here, I would say just to balance a bit. My composition, I'm overlapping with the Bush will be on top of this one. To be too big. Make a smaller one because the shape of it as a bit overwhelming. I can still fix my shape later. Okay. I guess that's all I can do in this layer. Number four. And when you have a set of three, you decide if you want the three is the same color or three colors are two colors. That's a decision. I know. I'm just kidding. This blue is too bright. I will carry it out a bit to lighten the thing. I don't know, maybe two and a greenish. So my colors are getting a bit darker now that I'm moving forward. So I feel it's strange to have to do this. It's better. I will make it a bit smaller. From my drawing layer will be cool. We'll see after if it's too heavy, if we need to lighten down to lower the size, it's still time to do it after anyway. So no big deal at this stage is just trying to balance the composition with the colors, shapes, and everything. And two more bushes TO wanted to 12 overlap. I feel. And this one could be here as well. Okay. So let's remove this couch. And do you feel it's balanced? Okay. I don't like the background color. So go and move it to I'm changing my mind. 9. Composition 1 - shadows: Let's place back to the sketch because it will be helpful. We can lower it. And let's work on edge layer. And each one I will add a layer on top clipping mask, set it to multiply, and let's make the shadows on each and every layer. So you have a mass of layer beginning. No problem. You can see here, where are the shapes you have inside? So let's grab this color, Maximum Size. And let's place a shadow. And as I said, I'm more comfortable with the light coming this way. So this is what I'm doing. And I would say that by now, you know how to do this. So maybe I will speed up the process, right, So it's done. And now before going further, I want to fix some elements. These trees seem to be a bid to cut out and I need to have a bit more fuzziness on the edge. So I go back to the layer, where is the original tree? Grab the color, and I will make a slightly blurring us on the edge. Just because I think it's better. But a matter of style. If you don't like that, don't forget to fix the shadow layer if needed. Also, I see that this tree, this was a very pale color and the multiply is not doing much. So I'm going on the multiply layer and I'm selecting the already multiplied color and adding on top it will be a bit darker. And you can still grab it again and add another just to add more dimension. And also some fuzziness here. It's softer. So I want to fix also the shapes that may be are two obvious. It's just like fluffy County. The range one to cut out. Just because I like this effect. Also, I see that the base of the bush is not hidden by this one. So let's go to the layer and select the multiply layer as well. Grab your lesser tool on free hand. Select just this bush. And I can move it until our height. As I have selected the multiply layer with its moving with the other one. So very cool tip. Maybe this one is a bit too heavy. Let's reduce the size limits. I think the best is to feel the base of this bush. So I don't spend too much time on this. Great. And for the trunks, what you want to do is place your photo on the left and take the images you had from our previous exercise. Plays back catch. Now, now it's time for branch is introns. 10. Composition 1 - tree details: So let's add more details on this stuff I have placed by the sketch layer because it will be helpful to see where the trends going. Let's grab a color. Lower the size, about, I don't know, 20 maybe. And decide on what you want to do. So begin by the father's one. And I will stick to the original layer because I want to place a trunk here. Maybe I'm pressing harder and harder until I get the width I want. And what I see right now is that this pink one, the trunk is just in the middle. And this is really bothering me actually. So what I will do is select the tree layer plus the multiply layer, grab my Lasso Tool and move this one. Just so the trunk is not in the middle of the bush, but I don't want to be exactly in the middle of this because it would be strange. Something like this. I know it's not much, but it's a small detail that can make rarely a difference. So let's add more details on this stuff I have placed by the sketch layer because it will be helpful to see where the trends going. Let's grab a color. The lower the size, about, I don't know, 20 maybe. And decide on what you want to do. So begin by the father's one. And I will stick to the original layer because I want to place a trunk here. Maybe I'm pressing harder and harder until I get the width I want. And what I see right now is that this pink one, the trunk is just in the middle. And this is really bothering me actually. So what I will do is select the tree layer plus the multiply layer, rubbed my lesser tool, and move this one just so the trunk is not in the middle of the bush, but I don't want to be exactly in the middle of this because it would be strange. Something like this. I know it's not much, but it's a small detail that can make rarely a difference. And add some branches. Layer on top. It will be automatically clipping mask. And we'll do this green one. We don't see the trunk here. And you can think about what we did before. And this one needs to be on top. Don't forget to remove the sketch layer from time to time. And I see that this yellow is really not contrasting enough. So let's grab more visible color on the background. This is visible, but this is the same color then the bush. So and the orange Run. As I don't see the trunk, I can go with something lighter. So everything is done here. Let's move to the apple layer with the pink line. And you may want to vary. What I mean is here I have kind of a classic one. So if I go classic as well, but it's a bit too close, maybe it's time for some dots, bit too strong. I would get the same color but lighter. Let's make this on a separate layer because you never know what you want to change later. Here it is important to vary the size of your dots. Kind of dots. And maybe I need a trend or something. Yeah. It gives them more interesting negative space here. So for the 31, you decide if you want behind or on top. I think I want it on top. But this is what I'm going to do anyway, just erasing everything. I don't like it. What is this mass? This is what's left on the multiply layer. And I will replace layer on top. Make it's way better because it's making a gap in my skyline. So this pH Bush is a bit too heavy for me and I will erase some stuff. And now I can't see the trunk is not going down enough. And maybe that would be interesting to have another bush trust here. So it can't be seen behind the pink one. So I will go on the layer number 2 and I won't be bothered. Okay, so let's grab a color like a pale green window. Now, note that this color doesn't hits. This is really a puzzle. I don't know how to say it. It just gravity sets. So this one is not a good color either. This one is too similar to the background. 11. Composition 1 - bush details: Now it's time to give more details to the small bushes. And I would like to have those little circles here because I don't have it yet here. So I like to make some on this one. So I'm going to the layer with one here. And here's a little tip for you. If you don't know where it is, shape you are looking for. You go to the wrench, press gesture control, and you have one at the bottom here, which is layer select. And what have done is I have selected satisfied touch, so little square here, plus I tap my Apple Pencil. It will show me on which layer it is. Let me show you this. So let's say I don't know a resistance blue one. So I chop this one and I tap. And it's telling me its own layer number four. Number four. So let's go and add another layer with a clipping mask. And I want to do those little stripes and a contrasting color, maybe a light pink. Maybe it's a bit too dark. And this one, I want large stripes. So let's see if it works. Layer 3, good. And it gives me write on the correct layer, layer on top. And we've got an orangey maybe. So you're likely to run out because it's the same color of the bush just in front of it. So let's change this. Maybe I could do some dots with the eraser to be on the correct layer it better. What is fan is two main dots just on the edge. You see it's fun when you have another color behind. So I will extend my yellow bush or rock, whatever it is, just so it shows through the hole. I have finished everything and now it's time for the final adjustments. A bit more like a bit more darkness. And I'm quite sure I can do this by going on the multiply layers. And I will darken a bit some parts. So for this, I'm selecting the already dark in color and I'm going back on top of it. This is really dark. Maybe it's a bit too much so I can erase not everything. This is just to make it pop. And you can even change the color, actually, grab something a bit warmer, maybe. This is n less actually can really spend hours doing this. At some point. You have to stop. 12. Composition 1 - final details: So if you remember, we have a canvas and we have a maximum of 18 layers on this is what I used so far. So I need to merge some layers and I will merge by different plans. We've got five different plants. The farthest going closer and closer, grid chain. And I will add a layer on top of the blue and below everything. And I will make a kind of a ground. So grab maybe any color because we will tweak it if needed. And so you can make something a bit rounded. Okay, so the color doesn't fit. I know. Let's change this. Let's go to the magic wand. You saturation brightness and move the slider. And also you can decrease the saturation. Maybe it's better, increase the brightness. This one is cool. And tap outside, open this menu and make preview. So obviously, this color is better. But this one could be cool as well. This is really a matter of taste, and that's cool. On top of this, add a clipping mask and add on multiply, select the color and you can go with some shadows. Maybe if you want. This is not mandatory, but it can really gives a bit more volume to everything. Just a bit everywhere. And on top of it again, clipping mask, get the color, get a lighter one, and give some light. And another thing I can do is go to my layer number 1, which is the farthest. Select the Magic Wand and Gaussian Blur layer. And I will slide right. And you have a threshold here and the number, the amount of blurriness It's adding to your layer. I want to show that this is far away, so I want to blur it a bit, but really a bit because you see if I go this way, it's disappearing. So I sing something about maybe 5% will be. Why enough. I hope you can see that on the camera just to show this is far away. And maybe it'll blur on the layer number 2. Maybe 2%. That's all. Yeah. And I think it's not bad except for this pink stuff here. We'll just work on another one in a circle. 13. Composition 2 - sketching: Well, the second composition, we will be working in a circle. And I've placed a square canvas. And I have 55 layers, so cool. And dimensions is 3000 pixels, which is 25 centimeters square. So still 12-bit pencil, of course. Let's make composition. And first thing I want to do is a circle. So draw a circle very roughly. Keep your stylus pressed until you get this menu Edit Shape. And by default is trying to do something closer to what you drone. So I don't I'm not able to draw a circle and just tap on circle. It will do this for you. Let's center it, so move it slightly until you get a yellow line. So your circle is trade in the middle. That's perfect. So let's rename this circle. And let's make on top of this another layer. And I will make some, I don't know some direction to give to my lines. First one, I go from one corner to the other. And keep hold your stylus until you have a straight line. So the middle of my circle now. And I will make random lines. If you don't see where we are going, that's okay. It will be clear in a moment. And I don't want to be too obvious. I wanted to be a big random like this. Okay, so rename this, this is lines, right? And top of this, I will add another layer and rename it sketch. And the lines and the circle. I want to lower the opacity so I'm not disturbed. And what I want you to do is draw a lot of trees that are radiating to the center of it. So for example, here is one and varying the hate of it, turning my Candace. So I don't have always the same way. Or maybe it's good if I placed back my trees here. So some lows and high bid of those. Cyprus erase this one. Make tubings. Okay, It's a bit too symmetrical. 7, move this one. And this is where the lines are handy. Maybe a big one, but be aware. Okay. So there is no top or bottom because it's a circle. So I've got everything I need now. Add a layer on top of this and add the bushes maybe. So overlap. It's time to overlap. At wholes circles, fall circles. Kind of low bushes. Can still draw some chunks just to give me an idea where I'm placing my stuff. So do you have variation in the Haight? Do you have some gaps? Maybe you want to fill it. I think it's interesting. Maybe this one could be a bit higher to give an interesting variation. And it was a mistake because actually I will merge my two layers and move this one up. And so I see I need something here. So everything is overlapping and decide what you want to have on front of everything and erase your lines. So this one on top. So I can see I will have three layers, 1, 2, 3 because they are overlapping. And decide, is it this one on top or this one? And actually this one is just covering the trunk and I don't like that. So I will slightly move this, make it smaller actually, and decide this is one top. So obviously my trees are in the background. I think it's not bad. This will be our base to work from. So let's move to the color. 14. Composition 2 - colors: So before choosing the colors for our trees, we want to place the background and the frame layer below everything, rename it back ground color and level using this one, I think it's easier to have a separate layer for it, but that's just my preference. You can use it. So I'm getting a light blue. Just because why not? Now there is a reason to it. And the reason, as I will be using the full greenery palette in the blue will complement everything very nicely. And layer on top, rename it frame. And I want to make a frame was any color basically because I can still change it after. So maybe this one. And grab your own. 12th, be make a circle, roughly following the one. Hold. Edit Shape and circle. And boom, you've got a really nice shape. And I want to fill it outside. And maybe you have this trouble here or not depending on how you are. So let me show you. You have a threshold on the top. So I get my color, I have it here. And you'll see much result is about 48%. If I slide right, it's getting a bit better. If I slide even write, even, even, even under full right, it will fill everything so it's a bit too much. So I'm sliding left until I get just what I want. Maybe there is still some pixels you want to feel manually. That's okay because I want a rough edge. All I'm showing you can't be done with another brush. Of course. I'm just choosing this one because this is my current favorites. I think it gives a really nice texture to everything. I really don't like the color. And all my painting, we'll be between the background and the frame. To rename this one, number 1. And I will make the farthest trees using colors from this palette or from something else as you wish. So for now, I'm just filling my shapes. And I will speed up the process because basically, you know how to do this now. Just before I go, you have to balance the colors. So if I have this big mass of yellow here, I want to have another May 1 be here. And I will place my layer number 2. And maybe another one about here. It's better if you balance your color by three or five, but an even numbers. And this is a perfect triangle. Maybe it's a bit too obvious. So I could do this, maybe here. Okay. I will always do this. At least try to do it. Okay. Thank you. It's not honest, but I don't like this color. I sing cool color for the frame would be better. Maybe. Mutant blue. Yeah, that's much better. So lower the sketch a bit too visible. Now, I will, just, as we did in the first composition, I will add multiply layers on Clipping Mask Mode on top and make layers everything. The only thing you need to know, clipping mask, multiply a, that the light is coming from the center and defusing this way in all directions. So maybe you want plays back your lines because it will help you to place the shadows. For example, if I take this one on multiply, the light is coming straight here. So the shadow will be like this. And same here. The shadow is right, Just going to the middle of it. So it's helping if you turn your Canvas to do it. So let me do this and I'll be back. 15. Composition 2 - details and light: So it's done. I have used up all the colors, I would say, than in the previous one, which was pastel obviously. So when you are using multiply, it makes very dark and strong shadows. I think it's really cool because it's, everything is popping out. So next step is to maybe correct some shapes because I see that there are some rough shapes or leave it as it is depending on your style and add some details on it, trunks and everything. So I will record every scene. I'll speed up the process. So if you are comfortable with the technique, you can maybe skip to the next video directly out. We'll make a discussion about what we did. So that's it. So genes. Now this is where I am now. I will add more details. So I have left some bushes and touched because you don't need to place drawing every, everywhere. But I want to add more bushes here, for example, it's a bit too empty. And I want to do this behind the trees. So I layered on top of the background color. And this one will be for some bushes in the real background. This is the one I will blurb it. It's something that you feel. I mean, there is no scientific rule to this. Just to add a bit more interests and show the different layers. For example, this one is too much you see, it's just closing the horizon. It's barely see. I can go through here. I feel there is something that could go bit higher. Okay, so time to fix some colors again, so the frame, I could maybe get something really strong to contrast very well. So I have decreased brightness. And this guy could be a bit more saturated. Yeah, just I exist because we will add a radiant light. So on top of the background color, add a layer and grab a soft airbrush with white color. Make a circle in the middle, approximately. So if you want to be sure, just move it until you find the yellow line. Trying to find it. Where is it? Yep. And I want to blur this so much, one Gaussian blur. And let's go crazy about something like 33 percent. See that it's really like a glowing light. Very cool. And what I can do as well is on top of everything, is still with my airbrush. Want to add a soft light to everything so I'm still on white. Just place like this and go to the blending mode. And let's make some tries. You see light and lower the opacity. It gives an effect like the full Sen, is leeching everything. And I think that's it for the second composition. You can go on and on and add more stuff and have fun. This is endless, but I'm happy with how it turned out right now. 16. Outro: So the class is finished now and maybe you're wondering what can I do with all those stuff I'm doing on procreate? Well, you can print it either yourself, if you have a good printer, or go to your local store if you have one around you or use a print on demand website, and you have different ones and you can print on different items like cautions, mugs, stickers, and whatever.
