1. 0 Presentation: in this course, I'm going to show you how you can easily create illustration with water color. We're going to see couple off techniques and tools to help you creating these illustration . We're going to speak about creation, off landscape and two other color on the face. 2. Starting with a simple sketch: in this video, we're going to see how to use a choir watercolor to create some ethics, like using this color on and coming book characters or to create landscapes. So the first important point, it's to select a paper that fits with the water color. What color is, um, using a lot of water, which means that if you are using a lot of order, it was damaged your paper. If it's your paper, a simple paper, for instance, such paper, it's not fit for the water colors because you want to call 1/2 water and colors. You have pigments, which are such things colors that are 2000 dry, and we will add some colors in it to create some liquid. And this liquid is being applied on this paper, so your paper has to be a specific paper for water color. So the point here first is to create a drawing with a pencil in first, trying to draw something very simple. If you want to train using such skills, you can do this for exercise, just right line, going to be the arisen. Then you can drove kind off mountains don't use too much pressure you just suggest forms like this and maybe something recently here. That's it. Only this. Then we're going to use do you colors. We can buy such boxes with a couple off colors. Depends ill and you even have this. You will need water inside a bottle off for something to contain this water, or you can use what they like the most. It's a brush that canting water in it and you know this. She's normal brush and when you but some pressure on it, you have water going into this part, which make this part full of water, and it's going to be very easy to apply the color Su. The way I'm using this is pushing on. That's getting some water into the brush and starting, let's say, with the blue press gets a motoring in the brush here and and a press to get more water. You just a blade like this. You have to be very, very fast because the water color is drying the riff fest. You have some ah cloud effects. Bring okay , then I continue. I can just test if there is enough water. If it's not the case and continue to press it until you have some visible water and I can use an even stronger pressure to get more water into the brush. So I'm not following something specific in just tracing can see the order is to first get some water into the brush, then taking some painting, tracing line, using additional pressure and drawing us such things like this. It doesn't really matter right now because, uh, maybe 80 persons of your coloring is Onley water. You don't You don't use to much of this because if you drying the brush and you just picked some color like this, you will get a very strong color. But again, you can do something that this use water and created kind off gradient. And you can you race this line a little bit and continue to work like this to create some cloud effects. So now I'm going to draw something on the mountain. I'm choosing, uh, Cain off round and just drawing on this water and feeling not too much. I'm not trying to do a complete and flat coloring because the water color is really ah, working with the white of the paper. They play the role off delight, so you don't have to follow precisely the nine you just draw with your pencil. This is this kind of friend, um, forms and coloring that make your painting really interesting. Just some slight stain of green, more water trying to get this green a little bit here. And why not some? Sometimes it's good to add just a point off hot color if most of your drawing is ah, mainly using cold colors. All right, So it was the first idea that the very simple exercise you can do to learn how you can handle your painting and because sometime when you we get something like this enhance, we don't really know. But what even starts this exercise is very simple, and anybody can start with this and you can see it's very easy. And with almost nothing, you get something so we'll see in the video how you can go into more details with this painting 3. Adding more details on the watercolor drawing: now second video with this since Cape. I'm going to use this this brush containing only water and going into more details in this painting, using some pressure in its to get the water going into the brush and using the brown. But I will try to get the more color inside it and be a bit slow your unusual and trying to draw some details of the mountain. Sometimes it cause being more transparent, but it doesn't matter. Oh, but some water and you can spend more time in drawing the very okay relevant details like this face of the mountain. He's in the shadows so we can use more color. I didn't necessarily waited the drawing to dry before two starts. Using the second step, you will see the watercolor is drawing very fast. Are you can use also hand drawer hair dryer to to get drying faster. Then I can use another kind off brown. Maybe you She's wrong, mixed between brown and and the red and going with very slight touch here and there, we can imagine this again of forests that is burn close to the mountains. If the color is not brown enough, you kept using this. And what is very interesting with the watercolor. If that's you will never get the re flashy colors. You will always get something close to the natural colors. This is why drawing landscapes with watercolor is very good. So I'm just using couple of points, Uh, is very simple and get something interesting. You have forest bring in the background. All right, then, not necessary. Needing to to wash your brush to get it clean sometime, just going like this, getting more water. This and that city clean. So it's not like, uh, some other paintings that are very strong. I just said most of the color is composers water. So now I mean to work into the river using some blue, and I think something like this more color and the rest is only where all right, and we are going to play with this very small line of his blue and playing with it to enforce this Ah river. We have the riverside here using this time more color. Just get some lines, then you get water in it and extend the color, and you let some white spaces here more water and again and can even extend the color here to get something very fucking inside the mountain. We don't really know whether rivers going then the last step is adding some woods in this and you again, you some points. You probably use another grey and other. Sorry, another green. This one is a bit flashy, probably another right one. But it's it's no problem if you use different kind of, um of green. Maybe you also get something interesting. More water. Sometimes when I have some estacion, if I have to continue or stop drawing, I'm just adding water and putting like days just looking at what is result. And OK, I will continue two handsome trees here and there, Warner or paintings. All right, so now we we can off course continue. But one rule while you use watercolor it that you are not going over free and three layers if we can say which means that you have your first layer when you do your first time when you just did your sketch and the first parts with coloring, which is very general, Then you wait for drying and then you do a signal. One part with more details. Here This is the 2nd 1 which is complete. Now I can add 1/3 1 but it will be the last because otherwise you will get too much painting on the others, and the painting is going to be more so. It and we will lose this watercolor aspect again. You have to understand that the basic form of the color is a sold one, so when you use it with water gets something very shiny, not shiny but very natural. It's if you put over and over and over this painting's they are going to be again, sell it in the paper and get something instead of being natural. Getting some natural colors will get something very shiny are to be too much. So I don't full and mistake off adding too much paintings free. That's it. And if you want to add on very specific details, it is fine. But not on all the painting 4. Sketching a face and using watercolor: All right. Now, let's draw something different than, um, escape. I'm going to draw the face of character. So I'm not going into here into too much details about how to draw a human face. But you can see that I am using the basic rules off face anatomy. You can have the kind off lines crossing the face here. Here's at the little the eyes ISAT being here with the eye, bro. Here first, then the inside of the eyes. I already prosperous many courses about drawing faces in anatomy So you can riff refer to this course if you until anymore, but more about drawing anatomy. And I'm using shadows too. And this is also time to use my You raise her. So I have some problem here. Maybe this bird has to be here. Okay, Just drinking. Sketching that we have toe. Correct this. Don't try to correct anatomy details. Wong, you are already painting because it's going to be taillights. All right. Shadows the nose shadows here and math V and the Parts Man, the more complicated things about during faces, the symmetry rules is something that cool creates you some hard time. For instance, when I was drawing a couple of minutes ago. I was having a problem with this side. Not the same. Exactly. Not well placed. So get something relatively well, symmetric. We're going to get something like this. I'm not going to see the Here's we have the hairs Build it. All right, well, then don't forget to erase the construction lines, okay? And what is good in the water color that we can stop with the very Ross catch and we don't have to get perfect drawings. Perfect drawing. I can really start with something very rough like this. No fully completed, and then we'll be able to have the color on this. But I'm trying to add some shadows here. Okay? I grew again. Their importance to draw perfectly the eyes because he's from the eyes that we're going to catch emotion. And we have a problem in the eyes. By the way, we can see that we have a kind of symmetry problem. It's brought because I have the camera near my head and it give me some additional problem to get something very straits. But we will fix it in a way. More important, it's to realize there's a problem, our rights and to trying to keep this up. It's not perfect, but snapped up to the subject of these courses. Not the drink of the face bets, the water color. So, anyway, we have something here. We can continue to add some shadows here and there. Okay, I'm never stopping. Okay, I have to decide to stop. Okay. 123 that I stopped other words and never stopping. And they always trying to go into more her fate in perfect things. So let's take back on this water brush again. If you still having question about its we have water here. You can open Europe in here and order you plug it in. And when you use pressure on this, water is going down into the brush so you don't have to get a water of Russian. That's it's It's not. Um, it's more practical to get something like this off course. If you want to get a lot of water and to on on the paper, which is a technique also to get do the paper full of water before to add the color then will get something. You can use plenty of different brushes um, more larger brush to to get the water. And by the way, this is something we're going to see later. Now I'm going to show you hard to use painting on the on his drawing. So some water in it shouldn't productions all rights and slapstick some. Yeah. All right. Again, I'm going very amusing. Kind of rough technique. I'm just painting with very general forms. So if you use yellow, she was very shiny, so we don't use too much. I'm placing in one parts, the the yellow, and then I'm placing another parts here, but not everywhere. Rights and then some Using some, uh, arrange just took suggests the skin respecting the line of the nose placing where we have some shadows, some very strong color and more water. 20 painting here trained to get the color more the transparent. And if you have to get more color in a place, for instance, here we have probably too much color. It's a mistake. I tried to go faster, and I did this mistakes left now to catch up by adding more colors on the others on the other places of the face, then still trained to get water here, but keeping some whites here anyway to have too much traces. All right. Using is an example, you can do much more. Ah, simple. We have enough shadows in the face and if you won't get something more intense revealing the shadows, you can use the blue color, which is going to to add some shadows, not shoes. Black black is not really interesting color to use in the term of water. Color was speaking about color and the dark corner of the black calories snow very and terrorist ing. You have to represent the shadows with color, not with whitened like you have wild color. Is this senseless? To have some white, The white is a white of your paper Not right like this. It's okay. Whatever. Forget this white. It's really using us. So this is very, very, very good to do some sketching you can also have. You can also go in in town are going countryside are out of your home and just trying to do some sketching Was your water bucks? What color brooks And just hanging around trying to sketch what you see sometime I'm using the same color you can see something here, something here and using some color on the hairs trying to do some mix. And the point is not trying. We're not trying to reproduce the reality. You try to create some emotional impact with your color, and you feel free to mix the colors ones. So that's it. Now for this and my mistake, it is probably too much coloring. You can also stay. Uh, you can keeps more lights. It's good, but you can also keep more lights. It's not a problem if you do so, so gonna wait. Fault your drain to dry. And when this is done, you can come back with your pencil and continue by working on the main line of your character. It will give something, Ah, more intense, especially eyes, because the Werder will probably you raise a little bit. You're drawing done with your pencil so you can come back on the main points, which are the ice, the mouth and nose. All right. And maybe I can also come with very slight do tombs here, rotter. Just some point of color, That's it. No, not much more. And then I can also work in the shadows, so you would have to play with the difference at techniques, drawing with and so adding some water color. And if you want to go further into the mixing of techniques, you can even complete with the very thin black pen. This is a drawing pin with wish. I can just suggest, for instance, and more darker parts the eyes and the very thin lines here, maybe the outlines on the face again. It has to be very thin. This is, Ah, there a point free. This is a very small size. I don't want to get a kind of cutting book effect, just adding something new. Ah, and just getting the outlines more free size, but not too much, not too much feasible. Right then you have plenty of technique like this. Sometimes you can even take some color pencil with car and continue to draw some details here like this, and you can makes with different things. But you are here the very basic tools you can use to draw some interesting sketching. So the last video is going to show. Use another technique about using the water color 5. Relevant technique with watercolor: the last thing think I'm showing you here is about using very large brush and some water. So the technique is to get your your water, your paper not flat on your table. But on this on a noon would are on a board that is ah, not vertical with almost and us. You have your paper. The idea here, that's we're going together, paper fully wet and adding some colors is going to go down like these increase, um, interesting effects. So we have here the Jules, and the idea is to just draw a very simple landscape, so it would be in two parts. So the first parts I'm just ringing do or reason. Lying is the whole reason. Then getting my brush full of water and getting water getting my page Wait, Wait's what? And Well, this is wet. I'm just take care. My Russian, my color, for instance. We have here to color and you see the color is doing something interesting. He's spreading down on the page and you can then creaking of water. We have the c. R. We have some other events as some part of the page are still dry. You will get the water and the color, following some very natural lines like this. You can get some effect like these and some things like that. And here on the sky, I'm also adding some things like this. So you just wet your paper. Then you add the painting and you let the nature has been say, Ah, do the rest So we'll get some ethics and we're just waiting that the the color during the rest. This is for such a technique, that's your paper has to be really heard. This has to be a very special paper for watercolor. Otherwise again, see, it's bending. But as this is a special paper, when the drawing is going to dry, the paper is going back to its original, uh, form. Otherwise, you can add some scotch to get the paper fixed on your board here and there. So has the paper. First is going to bend a little bit with the water and then going back to its original form when you will dry it. So I'm just waiting few seconds, uh, to show you the different effect can get on this, Uh, on this painting, you can see you have here, some mixing off color here and there. And this is exactly what you can be looking for when you try to draw a landscape, because with disease details you can, for instance, take the advantage of such things to on with your pencil. Are your color pencil more stuff like this, we can imagine. This is a land it's not. It's not a C. Finally, it is a land, and we have, I guess so inside here. And we have some here we can. I think this is, uh, trees, trees and so on. So you can take your your advantage of the natural forms created by the water and the painting to then comes back with your different tools and a complete your dream with these , this is very interesting to this can say, he's a kind of rock are maybe trees. Also, we don't know. This is grating and off fantasy, uh, landscape, something very me full of mystery. Some artists on drawing a lot of paintings with this random technique, then the the paintings just going down on the paper with water, and then he creates something, and the Archies just have to come back on the on the forms created naturally, you can get your painting taking life. All right, so I can continue days over and over. So that's it for this thing. Videos. I hope you learn a couple of things that could be helping you on. I'm playing watercolor.
