1. Introduction: Hi, my name is Nicolas and I worked full time as a teacher in Sweden. I have a master's degree in pedagogy from Gothenburg University and Academy of Music and Drama. I have been teaching for 10 years in the subject off music, craft drama history and as a voice coach in quiet conductor. If you clicked on this class, I believe that you like to sing and furthermore, want to expand your knowledge base regarding singing in a group or in a choir. The classes not directly focused on the beginner's level, but all the exercises and warm ups are well suited for students that want to begin building their voice from scratch. And therefore, I think this class can play somewhere in between beginner's level and intermediate level. I will now give you the class outline. We will begin with some E C warm up exercises to relax our muscles and body continuing on. We will begin working with our voices to build muscle and work on our too. I will give you several fun exercise regarding staccato, Leggero and articulation. Know that all of the exercises will be provided for you as a resource in sheet music and in both male and female recordings. We will work on our seeing posture, unison and harmony singing exercises, and I will also provide some tips for good practice sessions with a choir. Finally, we will begin with the class project. I will teach you a new song that you could practice by singing together with me or in a group of quiet. You can also learn all the different parts yourself if you want. After you have learned the song, make it your own. Have fun with it. You could post your own version of the song in the project section. You could plug in your headphones, listen to my recordings and also record a video when you sing your parts, then share your project in the project. But I have gotten enough recordings from your I will create a new video where we all seem together in harmony. We will create a new quiet with people from all over the world and hopefully grow in time. I have been talking too long now. Now let's get ready for some harmony 2. Stretching and warm up exercises: first up, we will relax our shoulders to our help. We got this handsome fellow. Let me introduce you to my clone. Nick. Say hi, Nick. Hello, Good. First we row our shoulders forward in this fashion. Nicely done, my friend. And the other way, the neck is also very important. If you have a tense neck, the flow off air won't be as good and your tone will suffer. But don't push this exercise too far. Your neck is a delicate thing, you know. First, we will roll our neck just so slightly there and the other way. Good job now stretch lightly to your right side. If you want to stretch even more, you can help with your hand by placing it at the other side off your head and pull even so slightly. Don't forget to breathe while doing this. Bring your head to the middle and then to the other side. Remember your breathing. You could do this multiple times if you want. If you want to reach the muscles on the back of your neck, it could begin with watching straightforward in turn 45 degrees like this. Then pull your head forward gently with your hand and the outside nicely done, and Nick, show us which muscles we should feel stretching. In this exercise. Many of us go around clenching our teeth together, which makes our jaws get tight, which in turn makes it harder to sing. Probably plays your fingers just below your cheekbones, impressed quite hard. Then drag your fingers down your cheeks while still pressing. Let the jaw awful down and follow the motion. This can feel a little unpleasant, but when finished, it should feel very good. Finally, pick some apples for good measure and flexibility, and we're off for some support exercises. 3. Exercise: Get in touch with your diaphragm: we will now turn our focus to our Dia frame. We need to get this part of our bodies to work and sink with our breathing to sing properly . To get in touch with a dia frame, place your knuckles just above your hip bones and make the following sounds. If done properly, you hand shoot bounce out like this. We can also practise this with some loud proclamations like Hello? Ha! Stop her. Yeah, that's it. I will tell you more about the diaphragm in another class where I am focused more on how to build your voice from scratch. So stay tuned for more on that subject. Let's move on to some booth Ando exercises. 4. Singing exercise: Glissando: We will continue with Michael Sandel exercise. You can say that it's the opposite to Staccato. It's a long, beautiful notes together like this. That's one way of doing it. But Nick will shows another way. Can you chose Nick? We will begin with an exercise called the M Exercise. Just follow me. You can go higher and you could go lower if you want to. Don't clench your teeth together. That will look some of your body and it will get harder to do the exercise. You can also do in our exercise like this just begin by playful, throwing ours to each other like this. Just like that. This is also a good way to ease tension in the group, so have fun with it and play together. 5. Singing exercise: Staccato: So we will begin with a staccato exercise. What is the car you ask? Yeah, it's a Siri's off short notes like on London. Don't Dawn, Dawn, Dawn or Foster on. Okay. Um I will not explain exactly why we do all of these exercises. I can say that they are good. Warm up with voice for building your voice, but except how they work, you throat. Why your muscles and so forth? I go through that in another video, we'll have more time. We'll speak about how to build your voice from the ground up. Okay. This class is more for how to build harmony in a choir or in a group. I will also remind you that all these exercises he's recorded Onda also in sheet music in the project section. Okay, we will begin with Don did it on this. You don't need it. Don't don't, Don't Don't Don't know, Don't know. Don't know. Don't don't, don't, don't No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. And so forth. Keep that going. Do you want to see coming? Don't don't, don't, don't, Don't Don't know e o No, no, don't Don't No, no, no, no. No, no, no, no. I don't know. Okay, We have done a staccato exercise that helps our voice stretch up. But you have to go both up and down the piano with your voice and your exercises. Three, stretch it. But you should not push it too hard either, because that will knock your voice in place, especially for male voices. If you go up to Hyeon beginning, they will look up there like in high pitch so they can't go down anymore. That's not good. So for this reason, I will go through this exercise. It's called Bam, bam, bam, Bam! Being being, being being being bombed for that reason, this is this way. Okay, coming with this. I think you can hear when I do this exercise is that I am school in the classical way of singing. But nowadays I'm seeing a full music guessing so letting pop rock. So, um, this technique is good. It's a good stepping stone to begin with. So even if it sounds classical, it's a good technique for every job. See, 6. Singing exercise: Articulation: we will now work on some articulation exercises. This is good for women. I have a lot of lyrics that we want to get in a short space of time. So, for example, we can work on this with exercise called bubble gum. Listen to this. You can also do it like double bubble gum. Okay? And you just keep on doing that. If you want to make it harder, you could do it like this. You know the drill. Another good exercise for practicing articulation is called Kongo Kingdom. It goes a little something like this. - Just keep on doing that. 7. Good posture for better tone and technique: to sing properly. You need a good posture. Look at Nick is doing everything wrong. Take out your hands from your pocket, Nick. When you have them there in your pockets, you look some muscles. New body that will make it harder for your air to flow freely. The same rule. Apply when you have them on your back. Nick, stop that good. And don't slouch either, Nick, To get a good posture, you could imagine that you have a string attached from the back of your head. Good. Now pull that strength. Yes, Like that show from the side to make. Also, keep your feet apart at the same length, asked your shoulders and keep your hands at your sides or possibly together in front of you . There are more things to say about all of this, but this will be a good start. Now let's get on with some singing. There 8. Singing exercise: Start to sing in unison: we will not practice our first song together. It's a song, you know. Well, I think Let's see it in Sweden, this is called Blink Callahan. But you know, it's as Twinkle twinkle, little Star. But why used this song to sing in humans is not in harmony. The class is about harmony, isn't it? Yes, it is about harmony. But your group we acquired needs to find a job. First, you need to be able to sing in unison, find same notes First, how do we do this thing? That's let's sing this song first. Okay? No way. Then how do we use this song for this exercise? You could do it like you pick out some parts of the song and stay there. I will show you like this. All of your group members all of require stops on that note and finding each other. Listen, but do it with me. Come on, Teoh. Just like that. Let's do the whole song. How you booth between Good. Just like that. And you quiet will find each other and you will have a much better chance of singing good in Harlem. Okay, practice. And here later 9. Singing exercise: Three note harmony: Okay, well, let the choir sing. Some courts like this stopped with a seat. One note each. Good. That 1/2 step to see shop. Mm. Step again. Thats tried a mine. Good job. Now let the choir play with this. Let's do it like this. You give them one c court, one step together. Good job. Play around with this off course, it's easier to do this with a piano. So I hope you got one. Otherwise, use this video, play around with it. You could do it without piano, but it is a bit hard to do. Okay. To give you a sense of how you conduced this technique in one of your own songs, I will play a short clip from one of my own video. And that's just one example of how you can use this technique in a song. 10. Singing exercise: Put some feelings on it: Okay, Sometimes when you have a choir that you can't hear as good as you would like to. I used to say that I can't help people comes he That's true, isn't it? So what can you do? Them? I will show you exercise to help your choir to sing stronger My trick. We will take the same piece of music that we used before. Twinkle, twinkle little star Remember it like this. And I want to remind you now that the lyrics and the courts are in the project section so you can please yourself. Okay. In Sweden that Swedish we have ah think all affect. I don't know if that's the right translation in English. So I will just say we put feelings on things like when we were going to sing this twinkle, twinkle little star may be required Doesn't sing it strongly. Ask you would like them to do that. Saved them. Ok, now we will put some feeling into this. I want you to sing this song as if you were very, very shy This on and look Oh, oh, you know Oh, okay. Then you tell them I want you to sing this like you are a bit annoyed. Okay? Like this cold? How I wonder what you Okay. Then you tell them Sing this song like it's the best song ever. Some in your whole life. Okay, just do it. I wonder once you and then they will suddenly have some it very strongly. Try it. I promise it will work. And if you want, put some more feelings out. Okay? Hey, it's a treat. Thought that I would sing Twinkle, twinkle little star in Swedish. How about that? Yeah, Way. There you go. 11. Tips for a good practice session with a choir: I will now give you some tips on how to become an awesome quiet First, have fun north and have an easy attitude. But maintain discipline while you practice. Make different parts off the quiet sing while facing each other to make them listen in direct with the whole of the group, and not just their own part. Make sure that all of the choir members get the same amount of interaction with you and practice different groups at the same time. In that way, all members will feel that they are important, and they will also get to practice on, feel the harmony against different people, get to know your choir, get to know all of their voices what they can do, what they have to work, tried to get to know their vocal range. Listen during exercise is enduring songs when they see give them their own exercises to work with. This will help them see that you know their vocal range and their voices and lastly, record exercises and also quiet parts so that everyone can practice at home. This is an easy way to get all of you to really get your vocal parts right. We all have to practice, you know 12. Project introduction: Finally, we will begin with the class project. I will teach you and you saw that you could practice by singing together with me. What, together with your group will quiet. You can also learn the different parts yourself if you want to. After you have learned the song, make it your own and have fun with it. You could add some new parts at instruments or make a choreography Onley. Your imaginations can set the limits for what you can do. This. I will give you tips and help along the way if you want to. Now you have two options. You could post your own version of a song in the project section, or you could plug in your headphones, listen to my recordings and record your video when you are singing your part, then share the project project. When I have gotten enough solar recordings from your I will create a new video where we all sing together in harmony. We will create a new choir with people from all over the world, and hopefully it will grow with time. Now begin to listen to the recordings and choose one part of the song that suits your vocal range for clarification. Soprano is to female singing. Voice has the highest vocal range of all voice times. The alto refers to the second highest part of female singing voice. Then we have the tenor. It's the highest vocal range of all meant male voice types. Base one is the lowest vocal range, all name. But with this said, you could sing all of these parts wherever you are as shown in the polling videos. You could also adapt the past to your liking. If, for example, you're only using May voices, you could lower the whole song to your life. But then it would not be possible to sing in our world fire. Now get on with your singing, your recording and sherry. 13. The Project: for this project, I have chosen a piece of music composed by the Renaissance composer humans. Asato I have chosen the specific song because it's has no lyrics. This will make it easier for you to just focus on the harmony and not the lyrics. We will start with the soprano part and I will sing it to you No way, Way they ago has previously mentioned the soprano part has the highest vocal range of all the parts. If you sing this with a female voice, be sure to sing one octave above my voice and do not push your voice too low. Okay, now we will listen to the alto part. Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah That was the alto And once again if you are a woman, sing this part Seeing one octave above mine Easy explained You can say that you are seeing with a higher pitch with a bright voice higher up on the piano And now to the tenor part Ah uh ah I I I ah uh yeah, and finally the base. Ah, uh ah uh ah! We will now begin to assemble this little choir. Let's listen to the soprano and the alto together way . And now for the tenor and the bass to sing together. - And finally, it's time to listen to the whole choir. Here you go way . And now some final words of encouragement. If you are sitting there listening to this and thinking, No, this is too hard for me. It is not too hard for you. Research show that a challenge where task should not be too easy because then you won't do it because there's no challenge and cannot be too hard, because then you quit the toffs call the challenge therefore, have to be somewhere in the middle. It needs to be challenging so that you will try and have to work on it. But it cannot be too easy. So this will be perfect for you, don't you think? I'm really looking forward to hear you sing, and now it's time for you to choose your part and start practicing, recording and sharing your project in their project gallery. Don't forget that all the sheet music and the recordings are listed in the resource is for this class 14. In conclusion: so in conclusion it is important to practices often that you can. Your voice is like any other muscle in your body. You have to work on it to expand your vocal range, strength, stamina and also your told and pitch. Keep your eyes open for my other classes. Regarding singing in harmony there will be more to come and used the sheet music and or the recordings I have provided in the class. Resource is don't forget the class project. And if you need help with this, just send me a message so that I can help you. I am really looking forward to see all of your projects on. Also would like some feedback on this class. Did you like it? Is something missing? And finally would you like mortgages like this? Please let me know what you think. So, my friends, this was all I had for this time. You again soon
