Nicola Duffy - creator of Buttons by Benji and Ginger Mint.
As a child I spent hours creating Fimo pieces, most of which were heavily dusted with gold powder 'for extra beauty'. Seven years ago I rekindled my love affair with polymer clay and started creating buttons galore. Tens of thousands of buttons later, I'm just as passionate about polymer clay and I'm constantly seeking to push the envelope with what I can create.
Seven years ago I started dreaming. Maybe I could replace my part-time job with button making. Maybe I could turn it into a booming home-based business with customers all around the world. Maybe I could work when I want to and do something fun and creative every day. And then my dreams became reality.
My professional life as a designer maker has evolved in ways that I couldn't even have imagined seven years ago. Over the past two years I have explored ways to share my skills and passion with others. I have taught many childrens' groups, including teaching sessions at Camp Quality. I have mentored up and coming designer makers and watched their progress with great enjoyment. Now I am looking forward to sharing some fun projects and techniques on Skillshare.
Loving living and learning creatively every day,
