About This Class

Hi, I am firoz and this is my class. I love making images using the most cheap and basic things that I can get my hands on. With just a little bit of practice and using what you have creatively, you can make professional grade images, without having to buy all the studio grade equipments. Please note this class is not for you, if you are looking to shoot and edit images for ecommerce websites. This class is more about how you can create dynamic and good looking shots of a product which can be used in your portfolio or which will show the product in a more premium way.

This class is not just for photographers but also for entreprueners looking to learn how to shoot the images for their product.

In this class I will guide you through a product shoot of a transparent spectacles (2$)  using a White and a Dark background. You can use any DSLR you have, we will just need two basic flash/speedlights and a pair of wireless trigger for the flashes to fire remotely. We will also look at the basic editing in Photoshop and TA! DA!

1. 1. Introduction: Hey, guys, Welcome to this class. I'm heroes on in this class. We're going to see how you can pierce, um, really good, productive images using some very basic equipment. So in the coming chapters, you will be looking at how you can set up your camera, how you can use some really cheap flashes on some really handy things and create some really good product images. You can use that productive majors in your portfolio. Toe head, start off a product. Photographic aerial on. I'm really looking forward to this class, so I'll see in the class. 2. 2. Things you will need: Hey, I'm so glad to see you here on Welcome to the class. So this class is all about how you can create some really good productive made its on a budget. And for that we need some really basic equipments. I'll guide you through what you will need for this class. First of all, you need up. Basically, it's a lot. It can be in India's allowed. The one I'm using here is Nikon D 7200 on with Tamron, 17 to 15 mils. But you can use any camera with any get lands. The second thing we need are flashes. We need at least two flashes, so these are not detail flashes. These are very basic manual flashes, and you can get them for very cheap. The next thing we need is about off course. Batteries for over flashes on while it's triggered for other flashes. One off these will go on camera and one will go on bottom off. Flash on the other Flash that I will be using will be trigger using a slave, so I'll explain it further in the next video. On next, we use our background, so I'm going to shoot on background. One will be a dark one on one would be a plane. So I have got this child papers. You can get back only one on last but not least we need our product. So the productive elder shooting here is transparent spectacles. So I am really excited toe start this class. So let's get shooting. 3. 3. Product Photo Shoot - Part 1: so you can see I have made Archil on. I have used a spare mic stand for this on I have did the no the child paper on this on I have created us called The reason for that is I want a kind off in finite background white background for our product on I have truly playing the productive so make sure there's no visible dust particles on the product. Otherwise, you will have to spend a lot of time and for the shop playing this. So I'm just going to place it right here. The flash is that we have here when we have with the trigger. So this will be a one mean flash. Make sure it's on man world em. You can see this is on mandolin and the other one is a slave, though, So this is one as one thing as one is too might be different for your flashes. But read, Read the guy that came with the flash on Put it on slave more. So what that's gonna do is I have another off my trigger on the camera. So whenever I press the shutter button, this thing will communicate with this thing on this will file the flash on once this flash sees this flash filing so it will just sink with this flash. So it's kind off really complicated arrangement on, but once you get hold of this, it will be easier. So one flash I'm going to place right here so that the thing I'm gonna do is I want one flash on the Bagram on one flash on the product. So one will be lighting the product and other will be lighting the band. So I'm going to hand held this on. Remove it. If you have light stand, you can use that toe. The proper exposure that I'm getting is at 13 s, 100 a bit off a second. Just start shooting. I'm going toe put the camera in live human so I can see where this thing is on. I can check my focus. So right now, the flash, Both the flashes are on the noticed father. So I will just adjusted accordingly on. So let's start. I'll take one for short on right off the back. This is looking really nice. We have our background. So you just experiment with changing the placement off your flashes. So whenever you change the placement off flash, it will give you are give you a new new image and shoot as many as you want, because the more you should, the more. But I do you will have for the post production. So I'm going to use some right now, the board, the flashes on the same power. But I am going to increase this one by I'm just going to double this power. So it just you just have to increase 11 But on your flash, it's not very technical. You just have to shoot, look in the look in the camera and adjust accordingly. So what I'm going to do with this is I'm going to overpower on the background a little bit more. Now I'm just going to change the placement off burdock 10. So I wanted a little bit side with on Once you move the productive check, focus. Once again, The key here is toe experiment with the direction off the light, the placement of the light and the placement of the product. So right now, one for a problem that I'm having is on this Flashes casting reflections in the glass is, so I'll just move it just a bit here and now. It's, like, more or less soul. But so, yeah, this one looks good. So we have a streak off light coming on. The bathroom is going a little bit darker by the one good thing that is doing is it is highlighting the frame off our spectacles, so I shoot some more. So that does so that we have options for the post production. So I tried putting the flash behind time people, but it didn't work. So I think we have got some good shorts on the ban drone on. Let's go one toe. 4. 4. Product Photo Shoot - Part 2: So here you can see I've done similar with the black charred paper on for black tar. People have extended it a little bit longer because I live in the white in the white paper set up. The flash was very close to the band. To the back grown that we were having it was creating a little bit of spill by. The thing is, in that set up, we were achieving for the high key look in which there was like a lot of brightness, so it was not much of a problem. But in this set up, I don't want any off my side Flash to be spilling on the background. So for that I have extended it a little bit longer. So we'll start with the fame flash second that we're having. So I just switched on everything, so I'm just going to put it here on another one on the screen. But in the white paper said that we were focusing this speed light off flash in the in the background, but in this case, we are not going to do that. We are going toe create a kind of cross light, so one will be fighting from the one side and the other one will be fine from the outside on. The reason why I'm cross lighting is I want to really sculpt out the outline of the frame so it is transparent on in the in the high key look, we have already use the backbone to reflect and create a kind off kind of salute off our burden. But in this case, I just want to call out the transparent frame off off respect on. For that. I am using a black background with real like further enhance that cut out on I'm kind off just keeping both the flashes opposed to each other on Let's Weaken. Seeing that image that this is creating a really nice or all it it is like getting out the edges off our product. So once you get the ex property exposure on said you can play with the placement off down. I have just drank a great sum dynamic shorts so that so that it feels like it's kind off free floating in the air. But make sure that you have the image in the product and focus. You can also use threats to hang it but I'm used doing a kennel. Or I can do one thing. I can just take help off this. What? Uh, try to try to put this thing here on. You can Once the this poor doctors in this place, you can, uh, move the camera. So in this shot, I'm getting a little bit off flaring from this flash, but it is giving it a really nice effect, so I'm not really bothered about that, But I'll change a little bit off placement off this one, so I need it to be a little bit angular, so I'll put something. I'll put the lens cap hit. I have to support the battery cover here. So it will What this will do. It will elevate it at an angle on this will. It's out the outline a little bit more, but we have got a lot off fingerprints, and that's far to go. So I'm just going to critically in that Make sure you nailed the focus because it production the production being absolute focus. But the thing is, since we're shooting so closed on even it after 13 we are just getting the front part in focus and not this or not the arm. So there are some advanced techniques like focus stacking that you can do. But in this tutorial, we are going to keep it already basic. So it might be a topic for some advanced tutorial. So I'm just going to stick with this. There's going toe, take some abstract shorts. Now I'm going to put the last bracket that came the last time that came with this so that I can make it sit like this right now, I can make it sit like this for this Also, I'm going to use another off. I understand. And now I have changed a little bit off placement. I'm getting a really good shorebird. This thing is coming in between. So we need toe, find a find another way, toe, make this thing stand on its own. So for that, I just I think I can just hold it like this. I'm just going toe live it the front part off camera. So since this class is about shipping productive meetings on a budget, so it is really required on your side to get creative with what you can do in low budget on , you can just make things temporary, things you can make but but still your final pictures are going to look really professional and that's really a good, really good picture. But I'm going to change the placement here. So I learned when this flash was right here, it was casting a ah highlight or reflection in the last on. I think I'm way have got the Sharps, but I highly advise that to give it a little bit more time and play with this play with the light placement on play with the product placement on, try to come up with as many as shorts you want on the lights. It might not be same for productive for this class. I will have a recommend that you do something with glass on so since we are using a spectacle so I highly recommend that you used you get try to get the same spectacle or some others spectacle. But let's say if you're shooting something which is solid than the light, placement on lighting will change. So any glass object you can shoot using this life set up. I think we are pretty much done with the shoot on. Let's jump into for the shop on let's see how we can edit it toe, give it more professional field, so let's go 5. 5. Editing - Part 1: Hey, guys. So here we have all the images that we have short. Uh, I am going to edit one picture off from eat set up that we created. So one picture from the white background set up on one picture from the black bag arm set up. So I have ah selected a picture, which is this one on? I'm just going toe open this in for the shop. Uh, we're going toe do very simple thing. And for the shop on, I recommend that you get a basic understanding off for the shop. How things were basic tools before jumping into this. So here we have our picture on bond. It's looking very good on I think we have to three little problems. One is this This corner right here. The right corner is a little bit dark as compared to the left corner. And also we have a black strip on the bottom, so we will get rid off it. These two problems on also, if we zoom in, we can see we have some bit off dust here, so we will deal with that. So, first off, first off, all I'm going toe created duplicate off our background layers. So I just click drag on this new lyric in here on, Just release it so it will make a new background copy on We're going to work on this. So first off, all I'll get rid off all these small dust particles. For that, I'm going to filter noise, dust and scratches on you can see it kind of God read off everything. So I'll just press OK, but you can see it has also I'm in blurred everything. So how you can correct this. So for that, we're going to use their mosque on a layer mask. If you don't know, I highly recommend that you such a YouTube and there are some really good tutorial that you can use. But layer masks is basically on every layer. We can create a mosque and weak control. We can control home. It's off that part. We can hide or show so we can paint with black on. It will hide that later on. We can paint with white to reveal that there. So let's see, on this layer we have all the blood part and I don't want to see this on. I only want this part to be clean. So I'm just going toe click on this icon right here. It will apply alarm us. So right now all of my mosque is white, which means that all the content off this layer is visible. So if I select my brush layer on, change the color to black and start painting, you can see that the content off this background Coppelia is actually getting hidden on What? What was beneath this layer is showing up. So instead of doing this, what I can do is I can just work this whole white thing into black. Andi, I have this important and Spain the areas which I warned. So I will switch my brush to white on. I didn't just sprain this and I think we don't have too much off dust in the same it. So I'm just going to deal with this corner problem that we have. So for that, I am going toe, make a duplicate copy on flip that copy so that this good good corner is comes on this site on we are going to do, I'm asking again. So let's do this. So for that, I'm going to make our visible layer. So what this thing is, if we press control or shift e than for the shop will copy everything into a new layer. So everything we have done so far, it will just make a copy onto a nuclear. So I have done that on if I pressed condor t give it will give me transformation. I know box so I could transform. So I'll go and flip horizontal. And now I'm going toe apply a layer mask in what it on Select my brush. Decrease the flows because I want this thing to build up Gradually on make sure my hardness is zero on We'll just increase the size. So yes, and I will start bringing. You can see that darkness that we have. I have actually replace it with this same portion off left corner. It's working. So if I zoom in, I can see a little bit off on a little bit part off the specs that is on the other one is showing up. So I just switched to black color and start painting again to get rid of that. Hello. I think we are looking good. So next we are going to get rid of this and it's a very simple fix. You can just drop this thing out. So I think we are pretty much done here, so I'll just go ahead and apply to give it a little bit more bunch on board. I think it's looking good on once. You have got a hold off all the basic techniques and put a shop you can go for at once techniques, which is for the compositing manipulation. So let's edit the second picture from the dark Bagram. 6. 6. Editing - Part 2: Hey guys, Welcome back. So for the dance background image, we have selected this one. I'm going to edit this one using similar techniques that we have done in the edit off white background image. But here I'm going to introduce you to tow more tools. One, it's spotting brush tool on other one is a stand Constanta. So these both tools walk by replacing the area that you want with another area. But the differences in 12 for the shop do this work by itself, using its own algorithm on in the Constanta, you have toe actually select the area that you want it to be replaced with. So in one, I mean both have their own work. I will show you. One thing I wanted to say is that for the shop requires a lot off practice and a lot of time. So if it is your first time and you're not able toe do things the way I am doing, so don't get frustrated. It actually takes time. So it actually took 3 to 4 years for me to actually get somewhat descending for the shop. So it's very important that you don't get frustrated and you keep on learning because with practice and with time, you will trust me. You will become brought in for the shop. So it's on that note and let me just start the edit. So here we have 23 problems. One is this idea is very bright. I want to get rid of this area on even the the she that is below our specs. It's too bright for my taste. So I want to actually turn this thing down. So right now it's looking very muddy, so I just want to go on this thing down on one of the biggest problem we have here is we have a lot off dust on, uh, some very harsh shadows and highlights, or how we're gonna deal with that. We will first start with duplicating our lives on. I'm going to start from here, So I just want to get rid of this area. So far, so hard, said the spotting brush to let's see if it will work. I know it's not working. It's actually I mean, increasing the white part. So for that we will goto our crown stamped. So in Constanta, we have toe select a good area. Bye bye. Victory. Want to replace the bad area? So we we're setting the mood area by holding heart on Once you hold our it really changed up God said so whenever we hold, art will give you are a target sign. So I'm just going toe left click kid, You can see when I hope were over the affected area It is showing me a preview off what I have selected. So I'm just going to start painting for the shop will replace this idea with the one that I have actually sample so we can do this thing here also, we can get rid off some of the dust particles so you have grown so you have to actually sample area every time you are pending. I just make it. Make the brush size a bit smaller. You can do this by using back. It gives So here we have, like a lot off dust, so I'll show you sparking breast. So once I have my sport healing tool selected, I will just go and click on all that s particles and for the show will take care of them. But also it's very time consuming because I had to go and click on everything of dust particles. But the results are usually much, much better than the no. Then the dust and scratches filter that you have we have used. So if you don't have time, didn't go for Dustin scratches. Winter. But if you do have time, I highly recommend that you do it manually. Because in that in this way you will have more control over. I mean over the final result. So here you can see whenever I am. I'm trying to correct this area. It is giving me a very strange artifact. So I'm going to deal with this using over a clone stamp tool. So I'm just going to remove whatever I could with sport healing brush tool, and then I would switch to ours. You can see we have come a long way. No one's going to zoom really close on switch to my grown stamp tool, agrees the size. Just sampling. Yeah, So I will just go ahead on fast forward this because I'm going to remove a lot off these dust particles. I think we have done a pretty decent job with the dust. Now I'm going toe deal with this bottom part. So I have to tone this this right part down for that, I'm going to use our cars adjustment. So if you can't find the adjustments panel here, you can goto this half black and white second here on you can goto cups, so I'm just going to click in the middle on push it down on it is going toe darkened damage . So if you want to write a new push it upwards if you want to dark and you push it downwards So now it has dark in the overall image. But we have a mosque here on I'm just going to invert this mosque control I on paint with white in in those areas. But I want the effect off this car. Flo, I have doing Please. You can see it is no only affecting the areas where I am painting. It is looking a lot lot better than before again, see? But we have one more problem. There is, I mean, a lot off harsh shadows and highlights on there is still some dust here. So what I'm gonna do is I'm going to create stamped, visible copy pressed by pressing control Lord, shift on E. On. I'm going to mix a brush tool so mixer brush tool is basically it mixes and smudges a patch off your image, so wherever you paint, it actually blends the color off that part. So I mean, it's really difficult toe to explain, but there are some settings. Make sure that you have this. This box, the brush with an adult clicked off, so if you have it clicked off, it will show our chicken box on next to this. Also, we have four options, right, Lord Makes and flow. So a good rule of Thomas to keep all these values under under 10 or 15. So floor I am with you. I'm keeping at 6% and I'm going to make it a bit smaller. I work on a new layer, so make sure sample or layer is checked. I'm just going to start painting and you can see it is actually blending everything. So if I done this on and off, you can see it's kind off blending, and so I'm going to increase our floor even more so all the harsh shadow, all a part of area I can just blend in, create smooth transitions on. You can see it has done a very good job. So I'm going to stop here. But you can just go ahead and take your time and work on our images on. I hope this has helped you on 40. Obviously member for the shop Do take some time. So don't be discouraged if you're not able to do anything on. Duh. I hope it helped you on if you were. If you make something I mean, I would be really glad to see that. So do share it in the class project. 7. 7 Final Thoughts: Hey, guys. So this is one off the market that I have designed using the images that we have shot and edited in this class on you can see you can create some really good images on a really tight budget on once you do a little bit off postproduction on. Once you create a mock up, it starts looking like it is actually shot for a camping. So I want you to get creative on, make use off whatever you have on, just try to come up with something which you can show in your port for you. So the project for this class would be to come up with on object or a product to shoot on. Actually shoot a case to images, even if you showed one images that is fine, so maximum maximum two and minimal off one images is necessary, so come off. Try to come up with one image or to image on. If you can create a mock up, then it is. It would be like highly recommended. But even if you come up with the image, it's totally fine on peace. Please don't be discouraged if the images don't look like very good on if you're just starting out because it takes a lot of time on I have gone through that phase and I know it takes a lot of time, So please be patient on keep on practicing because photography is just like going to the gym. You have to putting a lot of work, a blood off practice on, then only you can see some changes. So if you have any questions you can posted in the class discussion, or you can reach me at walked out for a whiskey at gmail dot com. Or you can also subscribe to my YouTube channel, where I post some off my YouTube tutorials. So all the links I am giving on screen on all the links will be in description also. So you can You can also even follow me on Instagram and you can ask me anything and I will reply to you. Andi, I hope this class would have helped you. After this class, you will be able to create some product images which will can be used in your portfolio. I wish you a lot off log on daycare
