Look into keyword research. Many people really get into this topic because it gives people an opportunity to really dig in deep, look into their own subject matter, look into what they most want to rank for on Google and then tailor a solution that fits their own individualized needs. So this is not, by any stretch going to be a one size fits all endeavor. You are really going to get a chance to engage with your own material and make it work for your S C O calls. A key word is simply s CEO jargon for a word or several words that you want Google and other search engines to associate with your website. Keyword research is one of the most important first steps in S E O. Because it involves you coming up with a plan for your content that incorporates these keywords so that ultimately your target audience confined you on search engines. As you can see, this is why you engage in S e o to connect with people who are looking for these very keywords just to give you a quick example. If you have a health website, maybe you sell nutritional supplements. Maybe you give workout tips. Maybe you're a university department that has a lot of health research you want to promote . Whatever the case you might find than your most desire, keyword is simply help. Be aware, though, that so many other people are thinking the exact same thing. So the keyword help is also going to be one of the most competitive keywords in addition to one of the most desirable. As you can see, there will be a direct correlation between desire, ability and competitiveness most of the time. Because all of your competitors also want to rank for the word health. You're going to need to be a little creative. None of your competitors have thought to rank for the exact most desirable keywords that you immediately got of, such as health for a health Blawg. Then your keyword research tests will not be very difficult at all, However, for most people, that is not the case. Alternatively, if you are a juggernaut like Microsoft or The New York Times, it might be very easy for you to summon. The resource is necessary to rank for the most desirable keywords. However, for most people, keyword research involves investigating not just the best keywords, but also the more attainable. P words to S. E. O is, in many respects, a zero sum game. What I mean by that is, if you move up in the rankings, that means other people have to move down to support your upward mobility. So keyword research, like many parts of a CEO, is a very competitive field. Keyword research can be thought of as both an art and a science. It's an art and that you have to be very creative in coming up with all the possible keywords that your audience might use to search for your business. And remember, you're not just looking for the low hanging fruit, the very obvious keywords like health that millions of people might search for each month. You should be very happy to place highly for a keyword that gets 50,000 or so searches each month. You do not have to be the best of the best in order to get a very large amount of traffic to your website through S E O. Keyword research is also a science, you have to keep in mind all the various metrics. Most importantly, profitability that inform you whether or not targeting and given keyword is worth your valuable time. For example, if a keyword is getting 50,000 searches per month, that's probably a great Hubert. If it's getting a handful of people per week, it's almost not worth any amount of effort to try to target that keyword. Here's a little jargon alert for you. Many eso professionals love to use their fancy words, so knowing these terms can be helpful If you want to talk with these people or read other literature about these important concepts in the key workspace, a head term is a key word with one or two words comprising the key word. For example, new books would be ahead. Turn a long tail keyword is anything else. What I mean by that is a long tail. Keywords has three or four words comprising the keyword, so new science fiction books would be an example of a long tail keywords. Finally, a keyword with intent includes language of the searcher's intent. For example, buy new books. The word by signifies that the searcher has the state of mind conducive to buying. These are often highly attractive keywords because they can comprise the warmest of leads people telegraphing a Google and in fact, to you that they are ready to buy or to take some other action. If you're in a space that has any amount of competition at all, it's very likely that your highest ranking competitors have performed a lot of research into the best keywords to use. In business classes, scholars often talk about the first mover advantage. This is a fancy way of saying the first person to enter given space often has a large advantage. And while that may be true for certain things, there's often a great advantage just starting s CEO Later. Specifically, in this case, you can look at the hard work your competitors have. Put in a keyword research by examining the keyword density off all of their Web pages. Simply go to the tool like two under a screen right now, to get a comprehensive outline of all of your competitors keywords. Of course, you definitely want to do more than just look to see what your competitors are doing. The most important reason is often that if your competitors air Arctic ranking very well for these keywords, they're going to be particularly stiff competition for those keywords. If you can unearth some diamonds in the rough that they haven't already discovered, it will be much easier for you down the line to rank for these new keywords. So go ahead and spend some time. Take 1/2 hour or two hours and think about all the various ways that your potential visitors might use Google or whatever search engine they're using toe find. You combine all sorts of words, create a note pad file and save it. Write down every combination you can think of. Don't worry about how zany or esoteric they might be now include absolutely everything if you stop this lecture right now and you do all the steps we discuss before you're going to have a gigantic list of keywords, many of which, if not most of which will be entirely useless. That's because, as we discussed, many key words do not attract a large amount of attention from searchers looking for you or anybody else. However, there is a very effective and free way to gauge exactly how profitable a given keyword ISS will use this toe. Winnow your list down toe only the most effective and attractive keywords, so that you can target only those that are worth your time. The tool I'm talking about is Google AdWords. It's a wonderful service. You can get there today by going to google dot com slash adwords. So go ahead and make a free account. AdWords Google's sponsored listing advertisement service You know when you search something on Google, if you don't have an ad blocker installed almost always, you're going to see sponsored listings at the top of your search engine results. These ads come from people that understand the enormous value of being high and the results on Google, but can achieve that ranking organically, which is to say, through S E. O or other methods. So they have to buy advertisements in the form of these results in order to better educate buyers on the AdWords service. As to how much visitors they can expect given keyword to receive each month, AdWords will tell you how many searches that given keyword has received on a monthly basis . This is just Aziz useful for you as An S e o. Professional as it is for someone who wants to buy an ad words that in both cases you're looking to see how much exposure you can hope to gain by ranking, whether paying for an AdWords added using S E O for a given key worked. Secondly, but also very importantly, you receive what's known as the cost per click information. Cost per click, also known as CPC in the business is the amount of money that someone has to pay to get the number one paid ad on Google for that keyword. This is very helpful because how much other people are willing to spend on a keyword gives you very strong data as to how profitable it will be for you. For example, the keyword doctor is probably much, much more valuable than the keyword doctor jokes. Why? Well, someone with a website that gives doctor jokes probably isn't able to reap a lot of commercial benefits from that website, so ranking for doctor jokes probably isn't that valuable, whether through S e O or through adverse. However, ranking for the keyword doctor might be a multi $1,000,000 endeavor. So go ahead, use the CPC information to see how valuable these keywords are to your peers. This will give you tremendous insight into whether or not a given keyword is worth your time. The combination of the traffic data and the cost per click data is really your golden ticket to understanding just how valuable given keyword is. If a given keyword costs $40 per click but only gets five searches a month, then it's worth some effort. But your goal here is to maximize not only the CPC and not only the amount of visitors per month, but both in tandem. Combining these metrics gives you a very good way to assess just how valuable it is to rank on Google in your S e o efforts again, while the status for the purposes of AdWords primarily there is no reason why it's any less valuable for your S CEO pursuits, it's very good for telling colleagues or bosses. Just why S CEO is important. You can say this is exactly how much money we would have to pay for almost the same result if we went directly through AdWords and bought expensive placement for this keyword. In that respect, AdWords is often for people that just want to spend money and s CEO is often for people that mostly just want to spend their time. That doesn't mean you can't do both. If you want to spend money and time, go ahead and engage in S e o for some keywords and AdWords brothers. But either way, these air two sides of the same point. Getting to the top of Google and using an AdWords account is a wonderful way to see just how valuable such placement news Google is worth. Hundreds of billions of dollars in market cap. It is one of the most successful companies on this planet. The vast, vast majority of their money comes from ads thes air people paying to be at the top of Google and Google's other products. So now that you know just how similar AdWords and s you truly are, you have a great sense of just how valuable it is to be an S e o professional. If you're talented, it s CEO. You are playing a game with some of the most valuable stakes in history. You're competing for essentially hundreds of billions of dollars worth of attention. This is a truly amazing skill toe have, and I think you don't give you amazing benefits for all of your endeavors. Another really great feature of AdWords is it's keyword suggestion tool. You can put in your own website as well as the websites of your competitors and get ah, highly targeted list of potential keywords that Google is automatically suggesting that you might consider one thing you want to do is go one step further, go through each of these suggested keywords and see what exactly the other sites are that are currently ranking for those keywords. If you confined keywords with very low quality competition, for example, websites that don't have a lot of back legs you'll be able to come up with a great list of not only the best keywords but the ones with the least competition. Remember, the better the competition, the harder it will be to unseat them and catapult yourself to the top of Google in their place. One really good tool is a program called Market Samurai. You can go ahead and get it at market samurai dot com. This program allows you to examine the first page of Google for any given keyword that you tell it about and it'll examine the competitiveness of each link on that first page. This will help you enormously because it will tell you just how hard it will be for you to get on that first page. Even if it means pushing someone or many people down the list to you now know exactly how to gauge both the competitiveness and the value to you of any keyword you wish to target. So go ahead and create a new no pat file in this no pat file, you're going to create a prioritized list of all the keywords you intend to target. You only need to consider two factors in coming up with your prioritized list. Consider both the profitability as measured by AdWords, or if you have some special insight that you don't think your competitors on AdWords are discovering. Use that to as well as the competition. You're gonna use that market samurai or your own independent investigation. Of course, the absolute ideal keyword is one that would drive an enormous amount of high quality leads to your website. We'll also having very underwhelming competition. But that diamond in the rough is hard to find, so you'll probably have to deviate from that ideal frequently. However, the more competitive a keyword is, the more profitable it should be to justify same amount of your attention. So go ahead. Consider both of those factors and create your list. Now, now that you have your prioritized list, you have completed one of the first and most important steps on your S e O journey. Later, in this course, you will learn exactly how to use your prioritized list to target the keywords you have chosen. I hope you've enjoyed this material on keyword research. You have a lot of homework to do, but it will be worth it in the end. I'll see you in the next lecture. 4. SEO Keyword Targeting: In the prior lecture, you learned everything you need to come up with an amazing keyword research list. In this lecture, you'll learn how to use that list and incorporate it into amazing stream of content on your website. When Google initially launched, it had a very crude ability to detects fan so many S Seo practitioners engaged in practice known as keyword stuffing. Keyword stuffing is a bad practice, and it gave S Seo practitioners a bad name. It essentially involves littering as many of your chosen keywords as possible into a single page or multiple pages on your website. This compromise the user experience as these Web pages were designed primarily with robots in mind as opposed to human readers. Even worse, many people use keywords that had nothing to do with what their website was really about, so they would pull in keywords from all over the dictionary all over amazon dot com all sorts of different words trying to pull in users into their site even though they really didn't want have anything to do with what that website was about. After contending with these bad practices for years who go finally redesigned their algorithm to substantially penalize this type of bad behavior. It also have the effect of making even legitimate keyword. Practitioners have to work harder to incorporate their legitimate keywords into their Web pages and block posts. However, even after these substantial changes, it is still relatively easy to target your chosen keywords. The main thing you have to keep in mind is to simply use natural language. What I mean by this is take your chosen keywords and naturally weave them into your other content. You should be able to read this and think to yourself nothing seems out of place here. What I mean by that is, if you're trying to target a new brand of screen protector for a new smartphone, feel free to use these exact words. Just do so in a way that wouldn't cause a normal user to think, Hey, this seems out of place here. This looks a little span. If you think the sentence might cause someone to think it looks unnatural, go ahead and rephrase it. Remember, this is an algorithm you're talking about at Google, so it isn't a human manually reviewing your website to see if it looks natural air on the side of caution because you never know what a robot might think would look unnatural to a human reader. For example, if you're trying to sell a screen protector, don't have a block coast that says, Welcome to Smart protector. Here you could buy screen protectors, including new screen protectors and use screen protectors. Essentially, what I'm saying to avoid here is over using these keywords in a way that you wouldn't normally expect to see and say The New York Times article Google treats. This is very likely to constitute span, and so Google will penalize you for this behavior, regardless of your true intentions. I wholeheartedly recommend blogging as a way to develop content based around your chosen keywords. You can create new posts around your chosen keywords anytime you want, and by doing so, it often looks more natural than if you use the same content on a non blawg portion of your website. My favorite free blogging software is work Prince. Available a wordpress dot or, with this easy software available on most Web hosts with the click of a few buttons, you are well on your way to being able to very easily create new posts. Just Aziza Lee is working in a word processor. If you've ever wondered why seemingly mundane businesses have to write a blogger on their website now. You know it is almost certainly for the extreme S CEO benefits. Another thing to keep in mind is that you should rarely, if ever use your chosen keyword more than two or three times per page or block post. Using your chosen keyword more frequently can often trigger Google's onerous penalties. Do your best to err on the side of caution here, as it can be very difficult to rehabilitate your image in Google's eyes. Once you run afoul, it is not a simple is deleting the offending post. It takes much more work than that, So please be cautious and don't let them analyze you in the first place. Another thing to avoid is duplicate content. Some people believed they could create a template page or a template block post and then spin off this template into many further pages or block posts. Google absolutely hates this practice, and when I say template, I am not referring to the aesthetics. I mean the actual words on the page, so I don't have a page that is saying 95% of the same thing as one of your other pages. It's the text that counts here and not the formatting or other design elements. The reason Google hates this is because it is strongly associated with spam. You have dozens or more pages. With 95% of the text in common, Google is almost certainly going to assume you are a spammer, simply trying to game the system by targeting many different keywords. Illegitimately, Google wants a great user experience for everyone who leaves Google and goes to the results that it shows them. So don't tell Google that you have nothing new to say. Always create fresh, new, unique content for each one of your pages. That way, all of the key words you Target will seem to Google as if it is great new content worthy of inclusion on their pages, especially with a lot of back links. We'll learn how to create in the next elections with your prioritized list of keywords and this new keyword targeting information. You are well on your way to competing for extremely valuable keywords and saving potentially tens of thousands in advertising costs per month. Thank you for watching this keyword targeting lecture, and I'll see you in the next video. 5. SEO History of Search Engines: in this lecture will go over the history of the search engine because knowing where we came from is essential to knowing how we got to where we are today and how to use this knowledge of history to better improve your CEO. When the Internet first became mainstream, it was very difficult to find all the new websites that were cropping up. The first solution that people came up with was kind of like the Yellow Pages. People would create directories and then the owners of the various directories would hope that each individual website owner would go ahead and submit their own site to the directories. Then the directories would organize these websites under topics and sub topics and rank each website according to the owners preference. It was very difficult to find websites under these directories and they omitted almost every website because it would just be inconceivable to list all the new websites that were popping up. It was also very difficult for the directory owners to prioritize which website should be less did. Where Alta Vista was the first very popular true search engine, it was the largest search engine in the world in 1998. Interestingly, that was the year that Google was started. Alta Vista would rank each website that I found based on a concept called keyword density. The key word density theory was very simple. It basically assumed that the more times a website said, a specific ward or phrase the Mawr important that word or phrase is to the overall content on the page. The thinking is that if you say Manhattan restaurant five times, you probably have a lot to say about Manhattan restaurants, and therefore people searching for that phrase would probably find your webpage very useful . The problem with this rudimentary approach is that it lent itself to a lot of manipulation . Alta vistas, algorithm and thinking lent itself to so many new S CEO professionals. If you can call him that, engaging in very easy, very lazy S CEO. All these people had to do was take a look at their competition Go toa Alta Vista type in Manhattan restaurant or whatever else they wanted to rank for. Count up the number of times that key word was mentioned on the number one website in the listings, and then not only add Manhattan restaurant as many times that number one person did, but at one or two more, this obviously was very bad for user experience. It lent itself to bizarre one upsmanship, whereby people would constantly check their competition for the amount of instances of a particular word and constantly update their own site to try toe shoving more instances of their own words in an attempt to constantly outrank their competitors. While this might have been good for the very early s CEO industry, it was very bad for users who were fed up with seeing so many ham fisted ways of saying the same word over and over and over again. Marketing and sales people often conflicted with the people who were directly in charge of S E O. If these people had different roles in the organization and it wasn't just one person wearing many hats, you'd have these marketing people saying, Hey, this copy looks terrible. How is this going to convert these users? They're gonna think we're ridiculous writing the same words over and over and over again. The solution was to come up with all sorts of tricks. For example, the S e O professionals decided to write the keywords in the same color as the background. So, for example, if the background on the website was white, they would write the words and white as well, so it would be invisible to human readers but completely visible to search engines. At the end of the day, this might have helped out the user a little bit. At least it was better than the original position, which was to just cram in as many visible keywords as they could. But it certainly wasn't beneficial for the user, as compared with having a system that did not encourage this type of extreme attention to keywords stuff. When Google came on the scene, they truly changed the world. Larry Page and Sergey Brin met at Stanford, and they borrowed a very important concept from academia. They noticed that the respectability of an article could generally be measured by the number of citations to that article and the quality of the publications that are making these citations. They took what they learned and applied it to search, and thus the modern concept of a back link was born. The core methodology of Google system remains similar today, as it was when it launched in the late nineties. That is, Google counts of the number of back links similar to citations that other websites are making to your website, and it also assesses the quality of these linking websites, takes all of this, adds it up and comes up with a weighted number for every single website. This number is then one of the most important factors affecting your ranking in Google. This back link concept took off like crazy and now almost every if not every search engine uses a similar methodology. So rest assured, very similar s CEO efforts will work for Google as well as other search engines such as being. Most people appreciate Google for its amazing and uncanny ability to sort through and organize all of these websites. But what many people do not realize is behind the scenes. Google also dramatically changed the incentive structure of the Internet. What I mean by this is where is before the S e o. Incentive was to simply stuff as many of your keyword into your website. It's possible now the incentive is to get as many back links quality back links that as possible. So when you see a blawg that seems like someone spent hours and hours and hours writing. And you wonder why that person spent all that time writing just to make a free post online . You probably have Google to thank for that. That is, these people are writing excellent content, probably in the hopes that other people will link to them, boosting the credibility not only of that block post but if their website as a whole. This really changed the game, and it's probably responsible for millions of hours of additional incentivize content creation by people hoping to use content marketing to bolster their websites ranking in Google and other search engines. Now that you understand the history of the modern search engine in the next lecture will turn to discussing the importance of the significance of the modern back link. How to measure certain qualities, how to determine what it do. Follow a no follow back, Lincoln and why you should care. And later in this section, we'll learn amazing amount of extremely actionable tips that you can use immediately minutes after the lectures to boost your ranking and Google by generating these amazing back lings. I hope you found this history of the modern search engine interesting, and I'll see you in the next lecture 6. SEO Intro to Modern Backlinks: in this lecture will learn all about the back. Like this simple concept earned Google hundreds of billions of dollars in market cap. And from its inception to today, it remains the single most important factor in all of S E O. In the earlier lecture, you learned that Google changed the entire world by popularizing the concept of the back link, which is just a link from another site to your site. In the early days of Google, every single back link counted that meant that people were on a quest to increase merely the amount of quantity, often at the expense of any quality of the back links. It was true that even in the early days, the quality of the linking site mattered. But even the most low quality back links counted So many people found it easiest to simply amassed the largest collection of low quality backrooms that they could and use that for the rest CEO. This caused enormous problems. As we learn soon for the end user. Do you remember using the Internet just a few years ago, going to a blawg, looking at the comments section and finding complete gibberish, indecipherable comments that could persuade anyone, but with a link to the persons website ostensibly trying to get you to buy something, did you ever wonder, Who are these people fooling? How is anyone going to be convinced into buying whatever these people are selling? Who is going to be persuaded by gibberish with the length of the end? The answer is search engines. That's exactly who they were targeting with these gibberish comments and the links. They weren't trying to get you to buy their comments because you were so impressed by their text. They were simply trying to increase what was probably a very large portfolio of back links . If you then search for their website in Google using whatever keyword they were hoping to rank for, it was at that point that they hoped would be a buyer, not because you found their gibberish on someone else's block. One of the reasons you started seeing mostly gibberish is that people weren't even making these comments themselves. They were using automated software tools known in the industry as spots to go around, make a list of thousands and thousands of blog's, and then submit a common to each one they use gibberish because often the website owners would have a script that would be able to tell if the same comment was being posted thousands of times elsewhere on the Internet. So because thes bots and actually care if the people who read the blogged we're going to be persuaded, they would just generate nonsense as long as it had what they really wanted to include, which was their link. This created a nightmare scenario for both moderators of these websites as well as users. Imagine you have a small block that maybe gets a few 100 people week or a month and a handful of comments per day or less. It's going to be fairly easy to moderate these comments, particularly so if you know most of your users, or at least are familiar with them, enough to know that they're probably not gonna post advertisements or worse. The problem is, these spots were finding these blog's automatically so you could get ads for some very unscrupulous businesses. And sometimes any ad is not something you want on your block. Further users who Google really cares about deeply. We're being offended by essentially nonsense appended to the end of legitimate content like blocks. This hurt everyone except the people using these spots to increase. There s CEO So Google and other search engines finally took notice. So they changed how back links work today. Now back links are called. Either do follow back links or no follow back links. Yosi websites refer to these either with the space in between the do on the follow or the knowing the follow or no space. Either one is fine. A no follow link is essentially the website owners way of saying, Hey, I want this link to appear on my website, but I'm not endorsing it. So don't give it any s CEO benefit Just because I mentioned it on my website, bloggers and forum owners all across the world rejoiced. For many of them, this was a God sent and they immediately changed most of the links on their forums and block comments to be no follow. This meant that if someone wanted to post a comment and include a link posted their forum or any other website and include a link, they could do so and the normal human readers could still see that link. But there wouldn't be on s CEO benefit to doing so. This insured content was submitted to increase user experience and not search engine optimization. On the other hand, do follow links are simply the normal type of link that we've always had. That basically just said. This website is endorsed by my links automatically default to do follow. So you start a site and you link to someone else. You are automatically viewed as endorsing that other website. That means, of course, that the website that is being linked to does benefit in the search engine results pages. A good rule of thumb to follow is that most of the time, but not all the time. Block comments Forum post in the comments section on news websites are no follow. This makes sense. It means a lot more to be linked to from the New York Times in an actual article than to go to n y times dot com, find an article, go to the common section and tryto stick one of your links in there. It really doesn't mean a lot to be endorsed by one of these comments. So, in fact, to prevent spam, The New York Times and almost every other major publication has set their comments section to be no follow. Given all of this website owners will tag links as no follow to remove the incentive to contribute to their website just to sneak a link to your own site into the submission. Given that many of these websites make very little money or are even explicitly non profit in many of the people moderating the sites or volunteers, this is a real benefit for them as it can dramatically reduce their workload in combating spam. On the other hand, almost every website is exceedingly hungry for content and sometimes for the same reasons that many websites are understand. These websites often prefer third party content submission, so a lot of savvy website owners have explicitly kept their links is do follow to encourage people to submit content. Many of the remaining lectures in this back ling section will focus on various respectable websites that offer do follow links in exchange for user submitted content. This can be a very promising win win situation. The website owners get great content and you the S e o professional get great back licks. S e o. Professionals are always on the hunt for great new sources of back links. This is because Seo is an ever changing field. One month you might find a really great method that becomes, for whatever reason, obsolete by the next month. So when you're on the lookout to see whether a new source of potential back legs offers, do follow or no follow back links. Keep these simple tricks and mind so you can easily distinguish between the two. First, go to a blank spot on the website that is, Don't use your purser to hover over an image or a link. You can usually hover over plain text, but a pure blank spot on the site touches just the white background or whatever background it is. Works best then right click and click view page source. If you're on Windows, the next step is to hit your control key on your keyboard as well as the F key. And if you're on a Mac, it the command key and then the upkeep. This allows you to search through the pages. Html Source code. Simply type no follow without any space in between, the knowing the follow and hit enter. This will show you the first instance of any no follow links in the pages. Html source code. It might very well be that you don't find any instances of the no fall attack. If that's the case, the website automatically has do follow links. Remember, of course, that you should only be doing this on the part of the website that you intend to get a link for. So if you're trying to see if a block common section has do follower no follow links, make sure to go to a comments section that has a link from somebody else. Again, links are presumed to be. Do follow. So is your searching through the websites Huml Source code and you don't see any no follow tags. You're good to go. This website is providing do follow links if you use Google Chrome. It's an amazing Web browser, and one of the best features is its extensive bility. This means many people create add ons and extensions that vastly improve the user experience on chrome. Check out the no follow extension in the Google Chrome Extension Store. This extension will automatically point out each instance of a no follow back like so you don't need to go through each pages source code to see whatever's any instances of the no follow tack, you can get the extension simply by typing no follow without the space in the middle at the Google Chrome Extension Store or by using the link on your screen. Firefox is also an amazing browser with amazing X sensibility. And as you might imagine, there is a counterpart to the no follow extension on the Firefox Extension Store. This extension is called No Do Follow again. There's no spaces in this one, either, so go ahead, go to the Firefox Extension Store. If that's the browser of your choice type, no, do follow or use the link you see on your screen. Right now. When a lot of people new to the S E o Field first year of the distinction between do follow and no follow back links, they immediately assume that no follow back links are completely not worth their time. This isn't really true. Search engines are always measuring the backroom profile of your website. What they're looking a seat primarily is whether this is a naturally popular site. Search engines want to see that people genuinely care about sharing the content on your website. The biggest clue that your website isn't actually popular and you simply haven't overzealous Fessio professional is that you have an enormous collection of do follow back legs and hardly any no follow back links. So don't tell Google what this message implies. Having quite a few no follow back links. Tell Scougall that your website is naturally popular. It isn't just that all you care about its do follow back links for Seo purposes, you actually care about creating great content that people want to share, including on websites that don't happen to provide do follow links, so don't go out there and specifically hunt for no follow links. But if you see an opportunity for one, do you remember? This is an important way to tell Google that your website is popular across the board and to seem more natural in your presentation to them, and that's really what your collection of back links. It's a presentation to Google, albeit their computer system, telling them why you are respectable, why you are authoritative and why you should move up on their rankings. Almost everybody has heard the words viral content, everybody wants to go viral. In fact, going viral is often one of the most important goals than marketing professionals have. People can tell that a website has gone viral by counting up their social networking shares . The more shares by the more high profile people, the more it looks like this content is amazing. If you've attracted the attention of one or a handful key influencers in your niche and you get them to shared your content on social media, those links will probably be no follow. Most social media shares are no follow, such as Facebook and Twitter. However, it sends a really strong signal to Google that your site is worth sharing and, by extension, worth ranking highly in their search results page. In fact, even though Facebook, Twitter and other social networks do use the no follow tag, the secret here is that Google and other search engines actually do give some weight to these links. People sometimes think that by using the no follow attack, it creates some obligation on the part of the search engine toe, not affect the CEO of the linked to site. This is not the case at all Google Bain ya who are under no obligation to treat no followings in any particular way. And in fact, they do affect your Seo positively of a large amount of high quality shares on websites like Facebook and Twitter. Although these lakes, even though there no follow do count, you should keep in mind that if you can get a do following from an equally respectable site , obviously that is going to count more later. In this course, you will learn immediately usable immediately actionable tips. To get a huge amount of high quality, do follow back legs. These back links, combined with your highly targeted keyword rich content, will be the cornerstone of your s C O efforts. I hope you like this introduction to the modern back link and I will see you in the next lecture. 7. HARO: in this lecture, we're going to be covering the help journalists help you method. I just love this method. It's a little more time consuming than most back link building methods will cover. But it's really wonderful, and I think it's well worth the investment of time. If you're one of the people that still reads, newspapers may be read on your computer. Maybe you have it delivered. You probably wonder how these journalists are so consistently able to get all of these various sources. They have medical experts, legal experts, realtors, dentists, this nam. Yet have you ever really stop to wonder how one of these journalists is able to get all these different people? Some of the times a journalist knows the source. Maybe it's their cousin, a friend, a college roommate. Whatever, they have some personal or professional connection, they keep them in their role index. They reach out, but a great deal of time. These journalists try to connect with experts. I want to show you how to be one of those experts. Other times, thes journalists connect with complete strangers to be their experts and to be quoted in their oftentimes major media outlets. This method will show you how to be one of these strangers turned experts. First, you should sign up for a website called Hair. It really is the best in the business heros, an acronym that stands for Help a reporter out. But for this method, you really could term it help a reporter helping you out because it's really very mutually beneficial. So go ahead and go to help. A reporter dot com note that it's not Help a reporter out dot com, but rather helpful. Reporter dot com click I'm a source and sign up. There are over 35,000 journalists who use Harrow to connect with sources like you. So it's a really great opportunity to connect with these people and find the right opportunity, maybe even a few times a month to get your website featured in one of these publications. Harris Free Plan is very likely all you need. They do have three different paid two years, but the free version is just so amazing that I don't think you'll be clamoring for more in the free version of Pero you get three emails every single week day, and the point of these emails is to give you a list of enquiries by journalists don't have the name of the publication, although sometimes it's listed as anonymous and they'll have a short paragraph or even just a few sentences, saying what exactly they want from a source. One of the easiest mistakes to make in Herro is toe on Lee. Look for those enquiries that are 100% relevant to you. This is a really big mistake. Most of the time, you're not gonna find a perfect fit. Most of the time, these journalists are not saying, Hey, is there anyone out there who's selling exactly what you are selling? No. But in order to succeed in hero, you just got to put up with it and try to connect these dots wherever you can. Don't go for things that are completely unrelated to you. In fact, that could even get you banned from hero for offering irrelevant quotes. But try to make connections wherever you can reasonably see them. One opportunity to do this is for journalists asking questions about life experiences. So your first instinct, if you see an inquiry about your particular experiences at a fast food restaurant, might be to say, What does that have to do with my business? Resist the temptation to ignore that inquiry. If you've been to that fast food joint that they're talking about connecting with this journalist, giving your quote and hopefully receiving a back link is going to be worth almost as much to you in terms of S e O as if this journalist was asking directly about your business. It is true that Google and other search engines prioritized back links from websites covering your exact niche, but I just can't imagine that their algorithms are really going to say, Hey, this New York Times article was about this guy's experience at a fast food restaurant. It must not be that good. I just don't think the A eyes there yet. And in any event, it doesn't hurt to be quoted in The New York Times, even if it's on something, someone unrelated to your business. Beyond that, it's really nice to make these connections with major media reporters. You never know if the connection you make with these reporters today can really help you on something even more relevant next week, next month or next year. Or maybe all three you should keep in mind. It isn't strictly required for journalists using the source toe offer up a back like it's also not required, obviously, by extension that if they do offer back link that it be do follow. But it is customary on heroin. These journalists know the reason that sources like you are offering their time of their expertise are to get credibility as well as back links. So if the person is following the custom, you should expect to do follow back link. But don't be too upset if you don't get it. In any event, it's always nice to be mentioned, and you might get something else from this journalist later on, some people ask. Well, listen, Herro just used by lower tier sites like blog's with a few 100 hits a day. Don't major media outlets have? The resource is to connect with people that aren't just strangers on the Internet and the answers they might or might not have. These resource is, but nonetheless, even publications like The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, make frequent use of hair and in any event, even a block that doesn't do a whole lot of terms of traffic. It's nice to have in terms of back looks, anyway. Media outlets such as The New York Times are some of the most respected and authoritative websites in the world. If you get just one link from The New York Times, it sent such a strong signal to Google that you're not some fly by night organization or someone just spamming the Internet with their websites. Truly one link from The New York Times is a wonderful asset to your business. Andress CEO Goals. Okay, I do have a caution for you. It's very easy to sign up for Herro, see all these amazing publications and get your expectations a little too high. The thing about Herro is you actually do have to write these quotes as if it's going to be the final version, so you're probably going to be intimately familiar with Herro. Don't be discouraged if you don't land the New York Times or The Wall Street Journal within the first weeks or even the first months of your experience. A hero just keep on trying. You're not going to get these amazing quality mentions and back links off of a few days work and keep in mind that if there's 35,000 journalists, you can bet there's a lot of competition to be a source. So keep on trying with Herro. And if you get one back link from a major site like a major newspaper every month or two months, consider that a serious one and keep on trying month after month, it will be worth it. In the end, one of the most important benefits to using hero goes beyond S CEO. Simply being mentioned in a publication like The New York Times can offer a tremendous credibility boost to your business. In the marketing world, this is called social proof. Social proof is a really interesting concept. It basically says, Hey, if the New York Times thinks that you're good enough to be featured in their publication, you're probably OK. Same with the Wall Street Journal and so on and so on. Social crew can do wonders for your business, so make sure that every time you're mentioned in a reputable publication, you update your website. You should probably have a press page or a mentioned by section on your home page and include a link to all of these articles. Trust me when I'm looking for a new product and I see a mentioned by section that includes The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, so on and so on, I think, Wow, this person probably is pretty credible. That can be your prospective customers, too. In many ways, this method is both on S CEO back line building method as well as a PR method. The truth is, you really don't need to hire an expensive PR professional. It's true. You're a major corporation. It can be well worth it to hire someone to handle these tasks for you. But if you're a startup and you don't have the resource is to hire such a person, you can handle all this yourself. You don't need schooling or training to go on herro, but you can get amazing press by doing just that. So if it's in your budget that you have to pay thousands of dollars a month for great PR, well, maybe you could spend that money on better things, because truly you can handle PR yourself with all the passion you have for your business and get amazing amazing mentions from the best, most reputable publications just by following this method. And remember, be diligent. It's not gonna come immediately, but you likely wouldn't get these results immediately. Even if you hired a PR professional, One of the most important things you need to know in terms of getting amazing mentions through Herro is that you have to be really, really on top of these emails. They come three times each day on the weekend, and they say they come at the same time every day, but they can actually very by a few minutes or even as much as 1/2 hour. But set your smartphone to it. Set an alarm to it. But do what you can to read these herro emails and scan the email for relevant enquiries as soon as you get it. Because a lot of your competitors are doing just that in mere minutes can make the difference between being one of these sources that's quoted and not currently. These herro emails come out roughly 5:35 a.m. 12 35 p. M. In 5:35 p.m. Eastern time. Everyday again, it can vary by a few minutes, and that is subject to change. But that is current as it now. And I will certainly update the slide of Herro changes the times that they send out emails . One thing to know is that even Herro itself says journalists picked the quote that they're going to use most of the time within one hour of these emails going out. So that's really not a lot of time. Craft your pitch, you might have five different enquiries you want to respond to, and you're going to be composing and editing each reply. So on our isn't much time it all that means you need to start as soon as possible and work quickly. But edit well, because you're not gonna have a second chance to make a first impression with these amazing media outlets. A common mistake that people knew to Hera make is that they assumed that these journalists will have all the time in the world to send emails back and forth in order to determine if that particular person should ultimately be uploaded. Source. That is not the case at all. In fact, you should treat every hair of reply is if everything you say is going to be included, so there isn't going to be any time to say, Contact me if you're interested. I'd love to give you my quote or my story you know you need to do is send eight reply in the form of three paragraphs. First paragraph of a few quick sentences should be a brief bio that says why you're qualified to respond to this inquiry. If the reporter wants someone to comment on dentistry and you're a dentist, while that should probably be your very first sentence, don't spend a lot of time on pleasantries because these journalists are going to be coming through these emails at rapid speed. So spend a few sentences going over who you are and why you're qualified to respond. The next paragraph is going to be the meat of the reply. It's going to be your quotes. You can include quotes. You can say something like, I think your readers might enjoy these quotes or something. To set it off is a quote. But in any event, that second paragraph should be your response to the journalist's question. It should be in its final form because you're probably not going to get a follow up reply asking permission to use the quote or asking a change it it's probably going to be used or discarded one way or the other. Most journalists we will follow up if they wind up using your quote and put you on their article, However, sometimes they forget sometimes, especially if it's a blogger that has to write one or even more of these articles per day, they just don't remember. So while you should usually expect to get any mail letting you know that you've been mentioned, it's a good practice tohave bowlers up and running every single day because sometimes you'll get a pleasant surprise that you have been mentioned. Even if the reporter doesn't like. You know, one thing you should be aware of is that while most of the time journalists will include the name of their media outlet, some of the time will simply say anonymous. Well, there's two schools of thought on what to do in this instance, the first school of thought is well, if it's anonymous, it's probably just some random who wants to hide the fact that they're not big to get, Mawr replies. This is very often the exact wrong way to think about it. In fact, many times these so called anonymous media outlets are some of the very biggest publications. The reason many journalists give as to why they would write anonymous instead of just saying, Hey, I'm with The New York Times is because there's a major concern about story poaching. Which is to say, If you have the next amazing idea for a wonderful article in the Sunday edition, you don't want your biggest competitors scouring Herro. Seeing what you're up to and beating you to the press is so don't ignore these anonymous media outlets. Often times they're the ones you most want to get in touch with. And in any event, even if it is a small block, every back leg counts. I said in the very beginning of this lecture that the free hero planets probably all you'll need, and I stand by that. But some people might so fall in love with Harris Service that they explore the pain tears Herro offered paid tears. At $19 a month, $49 a month in $149 you can see a list of every single feature that each plan offers by going to help a reporter dot com slash subscriptions. However, a good summary of my favorite features are a swallows. The $19 a month plan allows you to search at any time on demand on the hair, a website for every active media inquiry. This means you don't have to set your alarm to the Harrow emails three times a day. And in fact, you can explore on your own time table a list of all of these media opportunities. The $49 a month plan offers a pretty interesting future, offers a head start on your competition. What this means is, as soon as the Harrow editorial team approves of media request, you'll get it right away. That means you aren't gonna be waiting for the email three times a day. You are going to be getting these enquiries, right? One, Herod us. So that means you might even have multiple hours on your competition. Because, as you remember, most journalists pick their sources within one hour of the Harrow emails going out. You know, these deadline conscious reporters are very, very impressed with experts like you who reach out to them first. So if you want to be there hours ahead of your competition. The $49 a month plan might be for you. The $149 plan, I don't think offers you much more bang for your buck than the $49 plan. The best feature that I think they offer is one that lets you filter by on a limited amount of keywords. So if you're writing in the nutrition space, you might have a key word filter set for nutrition. Food diet nutritionist, dietician What have you. I don't particularly think this is very useful and certainly not worth the money, because most email providers such as Gmail allow unlimited filtering of e mails for free. So go ahead. And if this really appeals to you, check out Gmail or whatever email providers use and see if they have a built in filter system, because you can probably accomplish most of the heroin filtration on your own for free. Okay, it's the big day a reporter has selected you to be a source and included you on his or her website. Don't stop there. Make sure to send a quick thank you to the reporter if you liked the article. It all give him some praise. This helps solidify your relationship. Remember, if the reporter has chosen you, that is such a strong signal that they like you, and they like what you have to offer. Many times, these relationships can be long lasting. So what starts is a one off could turn into a monthly or perhaps yearly relationship that offers you more and more back links. And more and more mentions. Don't ignore the chance to turn this one time experience into a long lasting relationship with a major reporter or even a small time blocker. It will be worth it. The relationship is so nice because everyone benefits. You benefit from the PR in the back links and they get an expert for free. This type of mutually beneficial relationship is rare in the world, so nurture it and keep it going. That starts with the thing. I hope you like the help journalists help you method. It is a bit more time consuming than most of the other back link building methods, but it is so so valuable for both S E O P R. Purposes. I'll see you in the next lecture 8. HARO Alternatives: In the prior lecture, we covered the help journalists help you method. It's truly a wonderful method that focuses on using a tool called Herro to connect you with journalists so that you could be quoted as an expert and feature back links as well as PR for your Brandon website. In this lecture will cover some great alternatives to Harrow, which also seek to help you connect with journalists so that you can increase your ASIO and publicity. Remember, Herro provides three emails per week day for people even on its free plan. And for most people, these three emails per day is enough. You have to go through sometimes 20 or more enquiries, right? Tailored responses teach Journalist do it very, very quickly So you don't miss out for journalists on a deadline. So again, if you are like most people and think these three emails per day or enough, you don't need to buy the paid versions of Pero and you don't need to use thes herro competitors. However, for some press junkies who clamor for more press attention, these outlets can provide additional methods to get Brandon s CEO exposure for your business. These other harrow competitors know that they're not the big fish in this pot. They know that Harrow is the reigning king of this type of P R and S CEO promotion. So a lot of these competitors have taken toe use really great sales copy and try to get you to think that they're the best in the business. However, don't be fooled. I really truly believe that herro is the best in this business. With that said, you don't need to use only the best, sometimes the first and the second in the third place. Winners can all be useful tools for your business. So do consider these. I'm going to include both free and paid competitors. The biggest competitors. Herro is a service called Profit Prakken. It is owned and operated by PR Newswire. You can check it out at pr newswire dot com slash profit. PR Newswire itself is a very respected public relations for profit. Net boasts that it sends thousands of leads from journalists. Two sources like you each and every month. It's possible that some of these journalists will be on multiple services. For example, some journalists might go on Herro profit net and possibly some other competitors, however, it's very likely that many, if not most, of these journalists will only use one such service. Some people, upon hearing of the pricing arrangement, approximate think to themselves. Why would any reporter use profit when they're just going to be limiting the potential pool of sources that they can use? Here's the answer. It is not uncommon at all for prestigious media outlets to get upwards of 30 offers to be a source at a site like Harrow, where anyone can offer to be a source for free. So many reporters, in seeking to limit the amount of applicants they get, especially given their tight deadlines, go to a service like profit and use the pricing structure as a sort of filter this way on Lee, the more serious sources who can afford and want to afford the extra money it takes to be a source are able to respond to the reporters enquiries. So while some reporters like the relative free for all that is herro and enjoy getting the absolute maximum number of applicants, many reporters, especially on these tight deadlines, really like the filtration system of a paid service like problem. It especially when it's still free for them. Keep in mind this barrier to entry can help us. Well, it isn't just for the reporters. Just like the reporters air worried about upwards of 30 people buying for their attention, so, too, should sources be worried about all that competition. So if you join a paid service like profit, you can be a larger fish in a smaller pond. Go ahead and ask profit for a price. Quote. If you think spending any amount of money would be a good fit for your business and see what they have to say, you might find that you get a very reasonable price. And it might be that larger companies with more ambitious goals are coated much higher rates. This would be perfect for you because you have a relatively low barrier to entry and your competitors would have an even higher barrier to entry. PR leaves dot com is another service that competes with Herro. It is the last paid service will cover here today. Plans that PR leads dot com start at $99 for a month. So right away. You know, this is probably not going to be a good fit for a small enterprise or a new start. However, for 99 bucks a month, you get a little bit more hand holding. Not only do they say that they have thousands of leads per month from reporters at The Wall Street Journal, CNN, Newsweek and others. They offer training and more individualized support. I personally don't use PR leads dot com, but I do know that many people are happy with it. So if you want to spend a little extra money and you like the extra attention that they have to offer, go ahead and check it out. Last but certainly not least is patriot dot com. Patriot dot com is probably my favorite hair alternative. It does have a free plan, just like hair. Oh, and there's a lot of great features, a pitch rate that I think you'll enjoy In the prior lecture focusing on Herro. We discussed how heros free plan sends you three emails per day, and you can choose among those enquiries to respond and offer your pitch. One thing we also learn is that hero provides a page here that allows you on demand access to all of the currently available opportunities to be a source. Pitt trade is very similar to heroin. It sends a daily email just like Caro with opportunities for sources to send their pitches . This method, because it's so simple. It's so immediate, you're going to see some great results from it very shortly. Many Web designers go through quite a few different versions of their websites before they get to the finish product. Sometimes they'll tweak almost every element you'll ultimately see on their site will change the color. The font. The size is the placement. You name it. How do they know what's working and what isn't? Well, they use a modern version of the old foetus script. Specifically, they used website critique and feedback sites. These are free services where Web developers can post their websites for other people on the Internet to give critiques and feedbacks about. Plus, this isn't just for designers. Business owners who don't even know a thing or even care that much about aesthetics can make accounts of these sites give their sales, copy their marketing brochures, whatever they like and have other people critique them, too. This is really great for what's known in the industry as a B testing on the cheap in this case, free you can go ahead, submit your site, see how people respond to it, and see which among your potential versions are the most liked and best received. So right away you might be thinking. Okay, well, that's nice. But how does this pertain to RSC? Of course, the answer is in addition to offering you great feedback from other people online for free , these feedback sites offer almost always do follow back links. Google and other search engines don't just tally up. The number of back links were even the number of back links and an associated weight as to how valuable the backlog gifts. The's search engines really do care. If you're getting many, many back links from the same domain, think about it this way. Would you respect someone Mawr without knowing anything else about them? If you heard they were on a popular television news network five times? Or would you respect that person more without knowing anything else? If you heard they were on five different, well respected television news networks, one time of peace, most people would choose the latter, and that's how Google behaves to. This is very relevant to us here now because There are so many of these critique and feedback sites, it's one of the easiest websites to set up, and so they're popping up all the time. This could be back Ling Gold because you can go to each and every one of these that offer. Do follow back links. Offer up your site for their users to critique as well. A. Streep not only more back links but war back links from different domain names to start off with, check out my three favorite, which are suggestion box dot com concept, feedback dot com and critic you dot com. You shouldn't just stop that these three. So what you should do to get a quick list of all the very best new feedback sites is to go ahead and use Google's advanced search option to find websites that are similar to these three feet backsides we just discussed. In order to do that, go to Google type related colon and then, without adding any space, the name of the website. You want to find similar results to. So for the purposes of this lecture, we're going to be typing related colon suggestion box dot com related colon concept feedback dot com and related colon critic you dot com. You'll probably get a lot of duplication as each of these sites are in fact related to each other. So sites that are related to any one of these three will in fact be related to the other two. However. Go ahead, plug in them all for an always up to date list of great critique and feedback sites for you to send your website, too. This method is easy, it's efficient and it's effective. Google actually does care if you're spending a lot of time improving your site and frankly , you should be spending time improving your site anyway. So this has the double benefits of being good for your S CEO, as well as enlisting the help of a free focus group or two or three, many more on the Internet to help you in your aesthetics, your sales copy and everything else about your website. I hope you enjoy this method. It is truly one that you can get to work employing right now, so go ahead when you're done learning for today and apply to these critique and feedback sites, send him your website and read those rewards in the form of do follow back links as well as often high quality advice in the form of Be back. I'll see you in the next video. 10. .edu Backlinks: in this lecture, we're going to learn all about dot edu you back links. And what I mean by this is simply getting back links like any other except from websites that ended doc E D U. Search engines is many different factors all added up and waited differently to determine two things. First, where that particular site should feature in the search engine results pages of that particular search engine. And second, how valuable back link originating from that website should be to the site that it's like you, too, for our purposes were almost always concerned with the first part. That is, how to use these factors to help you in your search engine results pages ranking. But today we're going to focus a little bit on that second aspect, which is using these factors. Toe locate websites that automatically have a valuable factor in their favour so that you can specifically target them to get back links from Remember, the more authoritative another site is that's linking to you, the more value you will get from that link, one size does not fit all, and each link does not count the same Google and other search engines automatically consider websites ending in Doc Edie, You to be more respectable and therefore more authoritative than other websites ending in for example dot com dot net Why? Well, it's simple. In order to get a dot edu domain name, you have to be a qualified educational institution. This means you can't just go to go Daddy and pay him the 10 bucks and say, Hey, I have Harvard. I need to you It doesn't work like that even if the domain name is available, which means it's not taken by someone else. You can't just give your money to a registrar and get you have to have specific credentials . Google uses this prerequisite that is your educational credentials as a great signal. It isn't an absolute guarantee that the website will have amazing 100% accurate content, but it does give it a leg up over the dot com dot net etcetera competition. Now that we know why you want back links from the Saudi you sites, let's turn to how to get him for your website. The first step in making this method of success is developing an amazing piece of content. This is often the first step in terms of approaching other entities or persons and asked him for a back link. But for these educational institutions that have their own prestige firmly in mind, you'll really want to go the extra mile to make sure your content is perfect for them. Try to focus on something that would be beneficial to their students or their faculty, even if it's only in a particular department. For example, if you have the next big marketing idea, it might very well be of use to the marketing department's students or faculty or both. You're almost certainly not going to be linked to from the main page of a university, for example. It would be a serious waste of your time to try to get on the main page of, for example, Harvard Daddy, do you? However, these very authoritative and prestigious sites will often have resource pages, these air pages that are off of the main site, these air often pages that are administered by people other than the main Web master for the site. It might be, for example, that a department head or someone lower than that can approve or reject additions to resource pages, so It might be, for example, that you get rejected from three different resource pages at a particular educational institution. And yet the 4th 1 is the charm. Don't give up. Be persistent. Try to find all these resource pages that might possibly linked to your content. How do you find these pages? Do you just wander aimlessly and think up colleges that you remember and go to their websites and hope for the best? Well, you could do that, but you probably shouldn't. And now I'm going to tell you a much better way. I'm a huge, huge fan of Google's advanced search options. With these, you can filter down Google's results toe on Lee those sites that you want to see. So, for example, if you only want to see websites that ended dot edu, you go into Google in type site. That's s I t e Coghlan dot edu. Now, when you add a space and enter any other terms, as you normally would, no matter what, you're going to see a restricted search into results page that Onley returns these respectable dot edu sites. What exactly should you type? Well, for everything we're gonna put cycle and daddy, do you? But let's play around with this a little bit further. Go ahead and enter that in a space and then your niche. So if you want to appeal to a marketing department or on entrepreneurship department, go ahead and take marketing entrepreneurship. If your niche is more than one word, go ahead and surround it with quotes. Otherwise, you don't need the quotes. Try that, then try site Colon. Dottie, do you your topic space in Euro Colon links, Which is I am. You are L Colin Links. Try site Daddy, You your niche space. Quote other space sites. Quote and finally, try site. Colon. Daddy, do you your niche space resource is this is not a hard and fast rule. There's certainly other search phrases that you could drive in my field. Excellent results, but these will give you a very good starting point. Thes air, the most commonly used phrases that you'll find colleges and other educational institutions use, and it should pull up a very relevant list of results for you to start contacting. The next step is to create an Excel spreadsheet or even just a note pad, file and write town in copy and paste the pages for each website that you find that you might want to approach. Go ahead and also put their email address if it's visible, or the URL to their contact form. And remember to do this for every page that you think might conceivably Ling Teoh, This is a numbers game. You're not going to get Harvard, Yale and Stanford calling to you unless you have the most amazing content. It's not something to aspire to. What is something to aspire to is to get, say, 5% of these really high quality schools rather there dot e. D websites telling to you, Keep going. Throw enough mud at the wall. Hope some six. Don't be discouraged if your 1st 5 or 10 or 15 don't follow up, because maybe that 16th or that 36 will be the magic back link that puts you ahead of your competition in Google. I hope you liked learning about how to get some of the most automatically respectable back links in the business, and I'll see you in the next lecture 11. Testimonials: in this lecture will learn how to harness some of the most respected corporate websites to use for your own back link strategies. Quick, what do you look for when you look to buy a new product or service? The answer for many people is that they read testimonials. Testimonials can be some of the most persuasive reviews for products you'll find. Most companies know the testimonials have the power to dramatically increase their own conversion rates, so they're often more than happy to add these testimonials to their own corporate websites . Here's the kicker for our purposes. These testimonials often include do follow back legs. So here's your job for today. Make a list of every product and service you've used in the last few years at your dentist at the T shirt brand that you like, include everything. And don't be shy. Once you have your list of brands, go to Google Search for each one of their corporate websites. Check their testimonials page. Most of them will have one, then see if the links, if any, are do follow. Make a second list. This one should include every brand that you've used that not only has a testimonials page , but includes do follow back links on that page that reach out to each one of these people, offer your own testimonial and make sure to mention your own website will probably include a back leg. This strategy is particularly helpful for Google because large corporate websites are often some of the most authoritative and respected by Google. If you can get even one or two links from these amazingly authoritative sites, you can see Significant S CEO benefits for your own website. Thank you. I hope you enjoy this method as much as I do, and I'll see you in the next video. 12. Blogger Reviews: in this lecture will be discussing the blogger reviews method. Do you have a product to sell? If so, this method is for you. Why is that? You can easily leverage that product into handfuls of high quality back legs. Here's how to do just that. People love getting things for free, even if it would only cost him $5 at the store for a few pennies. For you, there's something about getting an actual product for free, even information, one that makes people feel like they're getting a great deal. So if you can find a good list of bloggers that might potentially right about you, offered to send them a product on the house will be much more likely to accept your products and give your view with a back like this method works particularly well for information products. Why? Because it doesn't cost you anything percent if you have an AB or anything else, such as an E book that doesn't cost you anything to give to someone else for free. This is obviously a very cheap, in fact free method to use, but even if it costs you as much as, say, $20 if you can get a high quality back link from a great, respectable site. It could be well worth it, so reach out to them. This works particularly well with the Top 10 blog's method, so you'll have contact information at the ready. Send him a quick message. Don't directly asked for a link. As always, just say you like their site. Find a page. Perhaps that connects especially well with what you're selling. Maybe they wrote about your niche or subspecialty and just say, Hey, I think my product would go really well along with your field of interest. You want it on the house again. The key is to refer to a relevant post they made. This gets people thinking, Hey, I already wrote about this. I clearly like this. Why not add one more product, especially if it's free and you know they already like it will be much more likely to accept. It doesn't have to be a perfect match, but trying to get the pages close as possible to what you're trying to sell or, in this case to give to them for free. Trust me, bloggers are thrilled to hear from their audience. They'll probably just be happy to hear that you're a loyal reader, and even if you're not exactly a loyal reader, they probably won't know the extent of your visits there. And in any event, almost everybody loves getting things for free, so they very likely be happy about that. What benefit will you receive? I think you know very often if the blogger does decide to write a review or even just include a sentence or two on their blawg sections. In the page you referenced in your email, you'll get a high quality back link. Many times this can be worth its weight in gold. I hope you like this one and I'll see you in the next lecture. 13. Top 10 blogs: in prior lectures, we learned quite a few ways to get amazing back legs and will continue to do the same in future lectures. However, a lot of these lectures on a lot of these methods depend on you reaching out to other website owners in order to get these back legs. This method that will learn today we'll show you one of the most powerful ways to do just that. So how can you get these other blog's selling to you? You ask him. For example, if you write about a specific type of yoga, try all sorts of yoga blocks, maybe even all sorts of exercise blocks. So come up with these keywords. Yoga exercise, make a no pat file or an Excel spreadsheet. Come up with three or even more key words to describe your niche. Now with your list in hand, go to Google and play around the search strings type. For example, Top 10 Nutrition Blog's or top 10 Nutrition Blog's 2015 Use Google's advanced search tools toe limit The dates, if you wish many blog's from, say, 10 years ago will not be around today. Take, for example, my favorite nutrition blog's My favorite nutrition blocks 2015 etcetera, etcetera. The goal here is to find high quality aggregations of many of the blog's in your niche. Trust me, many of these bloggers impact. Probably. All of them are very hungry for new content, which means they'll very likely put their contact information, such as an email address or website contact form, so that loyal readers can approach them with new story ideas. Make an Excel spreadsheet or even just a note pad file containing a list of their names. They're blog's in their email address or website. Contact forms. Save all of this contact information. And when you write content on your own website that you think would be a good fit for these blog's send him an email and include a link to your own page. Don't directly ask them to put it on their page. Just mentioned what you've written. Do other methods work well with the Top 10 blog's method? I think you know the answer to that absolutely. In particular, blogger reviews infographics guest posting All sorts of methods work spectacularly with this method, and indeed, this method will facilitate many if not most, of the other link building methods will discuss in this course. Thes directories had categories and sub categories, and you would have to find your niche within the available categories and sub categories and submit your site to gain visitors. No, that isn't how most people find websites today, but directories still remain very valuable for a CEO. While Google certainly made these directory sites less useful, there are many, many directory sites around today. Every business owner loves seeing his or her brand mentioned on other people's websites. However, for S e o purposes, the one thing you need to keep in mind is that you have to have an actual link to benefit in terms of your search results. Which means someone might say your brand name or even your brand name with a dot com dot net would have you at yet. But if it's not an actual link, you need to figure out a way to get these website owners to turn into a true link to benefit for your CEO purposes. So how do you maximize the potential of other people mentioning your brand in terms of your S CEO goals? The first thing you need to do is always track mentions of your brand. If the author didn't actually linked to you, for example, if they just wrote hey, check out Nutrition block instead of using a true link, follow up, say, Hey, I just want to help your readers out. I really love the article, but if you could add an actual link to my site, I think your readers would appreciate it. That's the branding in the late king strategy. And it's a wonderful strategy because thes people already like your business. They're already talking about you.
