About This Class

Hello and welcome to this class in this class we are going to learn how we can rig any character using rubberhose.

at first we are going to learn how we can create an arm or leg when we only have a torso then we learn how we can style our arm and duplicate them with rubberhose manage tab.

at the end we learn about rubberpin and rubberrig in order to master this plugin this is a introductory part of Rubberhose you can learn more advanced things about this plugin in walk cycle and runcycle class.


1. Welcome screen: hello and welcome character animation using number hose for one rigging. In this two part series, we're going to learn how we can enemy walk cycle using rubber. First, we'll take a look at the anchor point, apparently. Then we will learn how we can create the norms losing overhauls, how we could customise it. We're also Tycho Treaty animations on Andrew. That is because the anchor point is in the right place. So what is the anchor point? Well, roughly speaking, anchoring points refers to the center point of a layer. And up here I'm going to click on these two, which is our anchor point. And of course the shortcut for it is why key on your keyboard. Now, as you see, there is the circle with double cross line in the middle of it. And that is designed to of the anchor point. And I'm going to grab it and move it up here. Now, as you see, my head rotates from the right place. Now, we need to do this step for each layer. Now I'm gonna select my neck layer and I'm gonna solo it by clicking on this little dots in here. So I make sure that I will only concentrate on my neck. So again, as you see, it doesn't rotate from the right place. So I'm going to move it towards bug home now. Now the anchor point using the right place. Now off to the buddy list solo the body. And now let's go to the carriage. Movement, the beat down. Now the right foods. And of course the last one, data Food. Now we are ready for the next step, which is parenting. 5. Parenting : Alright, in last session we have fixed our anchor points. Now is time for parity. So right now if I select my head and I go into my transform Ohno and bring up position, or I just press a key on my keyboard. As you see, it moves separately from other parts of my body. And I don't think as possible to animate each part separately. And if you do that, it might take a lifetime to do it. So parenting essentially means that when you are apparent in object to another, it gets all the effects from the parent to bring their parents control. Just make sure you have the toggle switch modes on. And if you still don't have it, just right-click on the columns and select parent. So right now I want to turn my head to the neck. So to do that, I'm just going to use the peak width and I'm going to pick the head to my neck, or I just right-click and select the neck. Now, as you see, when I move my neck, my head moves with it as well. Even other properties such as a scaling or rotation effects, both of them as all. Now I'm just gonna select the neck and parents into my body. As you see, if I move the body, the neck and the head moves with them as well. And now I want to do this step for my crotch, and I'm going to parent my crotch to my body. Now, we are ready to create arms using rubber hose. 6. How to create an arm using Rubberhose: Okay, now we are ready to create, hence using robber whose side will like you to go on your window paneled and silicon rubber hose. I should see a rubber hose has very good and small interface, which helps you to place it wherever you want. Scientists going to grab it and move it towards my right side. I'm just going to extend it so I just can see everyday. Now as you see, rubber hose has three main sections and they are built, style and manage. We will learn them as we go through this class. So I'm just going to select Build, and in host name, I will write the body part that I want to create. Right now we want to create the front arm. So I'm just going to type front R. And the next tab, we have shoulder at least for when we wanted to create an R or Haven Allen kill for a late at the shoulder or heap for a torso. So I'm just going to create a new shoulder. Now, as you see a rubber hose generate To-Dos are in our layer panel. We have three new layers, and one of them is our front arm, which is our ship layer. And you have to guide layers, which you can control them by these handles on your screen. So I'm just going to select shoulder and place it towards my torso. So right now, some of you might have an issue with these handles. You might not be able to grab them or these little yellow squares are in your way. So there is a good solution for that. You can go to your view Panel and select View option. And if your view option is grayed, measure you select your timeline first, then click on the real get. So anyways, I'm just going to go into my view option and I will uncheck the handles are now we'll hit OK. As you see, those little yellow squares now disappeared. But there's an issue with this method. And if you are working with rubber hose and Shape layers together, you are not able to see you guys for your shaped layer. And that is not really good. For example, take a look at this rectangle. As you see, I don't have those line to scale or even see the anchor points. So I'm just going to reverse everything and look for a better solution. And there is an alternative solution for this problem. On your search bar, just type Control mature, you select your layer first, then hit control shape, then click on the circle and in Add menu at a feel for it. Now, delete these lines by clicking on 12 and then hit delete. As you see, it looks much better. Well, now it's time to review our hosts effect. To do that, make sure you have your fixed control panel selected. And if you don't have it, just go towards your window panel and then select a fake control or just press F3 on your keyboard. Now select your wrist. As you see, we have few options that can help us to tweak our Shape Layer. The first one is holes live. So the beer numbers gives you a bigger arc and the small numbers will give you a shorter. And for the next one, we have been radius. And if you increase the number of, you are going to get a curve VR. And if you decrease the numbers, you are going to get a sharp or an elbow, that kinda thing. So right now you can see the effects on bend radius because my arm is too short. So I will just increase it a bit so you can see the effects better. The next one is really Zone, which how your arm is moving, whether you want to move it freely or make it snap to the other. And when direction which allows you to choose the direction that you're aren't benzene. And the last one is auto rotate to demonstrate what I mean. If you take a look at the middle of the screen where the handles are, if I start to move my Shape layer, the handles are going to rotate with them as well. And that is the auto rotate. Depending on your situation, you can select or de-selected and Matt stuff over here. Therefore, the plug-in, and I'm not gonna talk about them. So N is all for now. How to customize your arm : Now that we curated R is tied to customize it, rubber hose already gave us few preset that can allow us to change our art style. And I'm going to show you how you can add more at the end of this video. So to change RR, I'm just going to style panel and I choose one of these presets. Once I have selected one, for example, fingernail, I'm just going to click on, apply this style. As you see, a rubber hose changed my Arg two D speak are and I want you to pay attention on my effect control on the left side. As I choose different styles. As you see, some of them have options to customize your arm even more, and some of them don't. So how can we add colors throat when we don't have the options to in effect control. So to fix that, there is actually a good solution. I'm just going to select these arm and to change color. And I have to do is I have to go to my search bar and type color. Now, I'm just going to use this eyedropper tool to change my arm color. But sometimes let's say you have a hand-drawn character that you want to add, stroke round your R. And changing the stroke size or color doesn't give us a favorite result. Well, to fix that problem, you can just duplicate your arm by pressing control plus D Or Command Plus D on the Mac machine, change the color and put it behind your main arm by dragging it. So let's change our, our color and drag it behind our main r. Now I can change the circle size to make it more visible. But a silicon make it better by adding a V0 path that, and I'm just going to press this triangle and in Add Menu and is considered a legal path. Now, if I navigate through the visual path, I have several options that I can change. So I'm just going to play with size and details to make it more unique. And this is how you can add a stroke to your arm if you're working with hand-drawn characters right now, I don't need them, so I'm just going to delete them. So to add more presets, go to vandalize the CEO and on rubber boots to just click on brain dump and then scroll down to atoms and download the presets, unzip and copy them. Then go to After Effects. You can click on this little folder and paste them in here. Now, refresh rubber hose by clicking on the refresh button, which is located in beneath of the small folder. Now you are good to go. 8. How to duplicate your arm: So I have my front arm over here. And what I want to do right now is that I want to create my back arm using this front on. So to do that, I have to duplicate it and put it behind my body. And you can do that by selecting the arm and very fierce together. Then go to Manage tab and then he duplicate as you see, a rubber hose January $2, a copy of our front are. And I can even rename it by clicking on this icon in here. And it's an arm. I'm gonna set it to shoulder and wrist and then rename it to back arm. And then to make sure that is different from my front or I'm just gonna choose a different color for my back on. And now I'm gonna move it behind my body. And now sees back arm and front arm located in the same position. I want to change my bank our position. So I'm gonna solo it to make sure I only focus on my bank arm, will move it towards my left side. As you see, my arm is in the way of my crash, so I'm gonna move it behind trudge. Obviously needs more customization, which I'm going to do it later, but now it's time for parenting and making sure that everything is in the right place. So I'm going to apparent risk to the shoulder and shoulder to body. And I'm gonna do the same for my back to R. And now let's test it to see if it works correctly. As you see there are correct. How to Rig an arm using RubberPin: Well, so far we have learned how we can create an arm using robot, who's the also learned how we can customize it. But sometimes you design a character itself and even playing with the rubber hose or customizing them will not give you a good result. So this is a rubber rate and rubber pin tool comes in. From now on. We are going to talk about them in order to fully unleash the power of this plugin. So I have my character over here and I want to read right hand using rubber P. I'm not going to use rapid rate for this video and I will tell you why in the next part. So to make it right hand, I need three pins and consider each pin as a joint. I will come here and I will select it. Now, I will zoom a bit and I will start to put pins on my head. The first one represents the shoulder, the second beam for the center, and the third one is for the wrist. Once I've done that, I'm gonna select my hand and I will press U to bring up those pins. Now, I need to select them by order. This is really important. You need to select them by order, otherwise it won't work. So I'm going to hold shift and select pins by order. Once I've done that, I'm just going to write the body part I want to now I'm going to click on rubber pin. As you see, Robert hosts, Read, or arm. We have two new options that I'm going to talk about them. The first one is chance from panel, which helps you, for example, to move or a skill you are. It is the same as shape Transform panel. So nothing fancy, nothing new over here. And now we have center guide. If you pay attention to my right hand, you'll notice that my character sleeves are filling unnatural. You have some kind of waves in them. And that is because I do place my pain in the center and that caused my arm being a bit unbalanced. So I'm gonna change it to fit to balance by R. Now, it's all good. This is how you can wreak an arm using rubber p. In the next video, we're gonna talk about rubbery. 10. How to rig a leg using RubberRig: In order to wreak a hand or leg using rubber rate, it needs to be two parts. What I mean by that is, for example, if you want to create a lay user robbery, you should have a leg and foot. Or if you want to create deal hands, you need to have a shoulder and erase layer. As you saw in my last video, my hand layer was one layer. So I current user buried for it. Anyways, in this video, I want to read my lake using rubber Rick. So in order to read, like we need to put our leg parts in the middle of timeline is screen. You can use Title Action Save, or you can bring that out by pressing apostrophe on your keyboard, or you can select it in here. Now, I am going to solve for these two layers and background so we can see better. And I am going to put them in the middle of fuzzy screen. Now the important step is here, the upper body parts should be selected first. Or I mean, in this case, I should select my leg first and I have to select my food. The layer or the inner layer panels not important. The way you select them is very important. And I will write the body part that I want to create an AI will hate robbery. Now, 80% of the time you are going to get a perfectly, at 20% of the time you will get something like this. There are few things you can do to fix this problem, such as changing your composition size or messing around with the handles. But I'm, I recommend these settings because no matter what you do, you're not going to get a perfectly. So I have these leakiness example. I've already placed them in the middle of the screen. Now I am going to select the thigh and the cough. Again, this is really important. Upper body part needs to be selected first, then I'm going to create rubbery. Now as you see, handles are not staying perfectly aligned, but now I can tweak and work with them better. Saying our ankle guy, I have the same guide that we talk about it before. I can increase or decrease the host length or center bias that have experimented before what we have laid segment length, which allows you to increase or decrease your body parts size. And this is all about the robbery. In the next video, we are going to read our lake. 11. How to rig a leg using RubberPin: So in last video, we fail to create a re, using lower rate. Now is time to read our lake using rubber pain again. So before we do anything, I want you to come here and take a screen shot from our timeline. And this will come handy in few minutes to create a body part using Robert P. Unlike Rubber rate, you must have one layer and you can work in two separate layers. So I can make these two layers, one by decomposing them. So I am going to select them. And then in layer panel, I'm just going to hit recompose. Now make sure you select the option does, is move all attributes into a new composition and then hit OK. Well, now my leg is the same as my composition size and I can trim it by using the region of interest. So I am going to select it in here. And I will draw in the area around my leg. Now, I will come to the composition panel. I will select the crop region of interest. Now, as you see my leg position change and I can rearrange it by using the screenshot directory before. So I'm just going to bring my lake to each first position. Okay, Now it's all good and it's time to put our pins. But before we do that, let's get more familiar with popper two. The first one is expansion, but as I said before, consider each pin as a joint or a bone. And expansion will define European space, like how much space you want to give to your layer right now. If I increase my expansion, it will cover the black areas around my neck. And if I move my leg, black areas are going to move with them as well. So you want to make sure that you only cover around your leg. And triangles will define a path for the Shape Layer. More triangles will make displayed to move more freely and sophisticated wireless triangle that will cause opposite. So these tapes, if you ever created, broke apart using this method and if your body parts edges was chunky is because of the expansions and if it had waves in it and you couldn't move it naturally is because two triangles. So anyway, i'm just going to put three pins on my late, and I will select them by order. Once again, this is very important and I'm going to create a new rubber pin. Well, right now I do the mistake at it was I didn't change my body part into a heap and Blanco. So I create an arc instead of a light. Well, it doesn't really matter, but it's better we change them. So I'm just going to undo this action by pressing Control on my keyboard or Command Z on Mac machine. So now as you see, my leg is bending in the right direction. So I'm just going to change Ben direction. And if you feel that your body part is not straight, you can change it a bit by removing the parenting on the hip and the ankle and then change the rotation on the Transform panel. And if you ever felt that you want to add more pins to your body parts in order to move in more naturally. You can still do that by selecting the poverty starch to. So I can select it in here and I can add more pins to my late. And this can help you to create a natural bug report. So this was the introductory part of rubber hose.
