About This Class

This is a great opportunity to learn everything you need to know to start building React applications.

If you're not familiar with it, React.js is the library that takes the complexity out of building web applications.

(It was invented by Facebook to get their sprawling, complicated site under control!)

This class will take you from basic React concepts through to building a working application, and includes all the resources you need to create your project.

During this class you’ll learn:

  • What React.js is, and why it's awesome!
  • Fundamental concepts such as managing React state, properties and rendering.
  • How the React component lifecycle works, and how to take advantage of it.

Along the way you’ll use React to implement a calculator application - it's a tiny application but teaches you everything you need to know to start building anything you can imagine!

You don't have to be a total web ninja, but it’s assumed you already know some HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Let's get coding!!

I'm a great believer in empowerment through learning, and that's what I believe teaching on Skillshare is all about.

As a professional software engineer I've benefited massively from educational resources on the Internet.

Especially, I want my Skillshare classes to be an entry point for anyone who wants to learn about programming from the very beginning, and to start a journey into the world of professional software development.
