1. Hindi Part 1 Introduction Medium (1): Hello, friends. No mistake. My name is Veronica, and I would be taking you through a series off lessons that will help you speak and understand in the through English. So you will be able to speak and understand in day without having to learn the script. Oh, having to first learn the clamour off in the This video series is made for travelers to India or other Hindi speaking countries. If you are from South India on our intending to travel through India, you will also find this video series very helpful. Many of these lessons are focused to help you converse in relevant situations. That human encounter the video now about to see will teach you to introduce yourself in Hindi. This is the first video in the series. At the end of this video, you will be able to address people properly according to their age status and introduce yourself and your family. When you have finished going through the video, you will find three assignments. These assignments will help you check your understanding off the material that you have learned in this video. It is advisable that you go through these assignments and hopefully find them easy. Enjoy yourself 2. Addressing people 1 Medium: So let us begin by learning how to address people. Listen carefully on repeat the Hindi form after me. I may Les, we home home. You has three forms. Oh, um, do how you address a person in Hindi changes with the seniority and respect that you give them. So this is a sensitive issue and you need to be carefully. If you're meeting a person for the first time or if he is your senior or he's an elderly person, it is highly recommended that you use the pronoun up while addressing him or her. On the other hand, if you're familiar with the person or he is a colleague Oh, your equal you can use the word film through is reserved for people who are either very Lawrence stager or between extremely good friends. Since you're traveling through, I remember you stick. I recommend that you stick with up autumn again you is up dorm. Cool. Oh, dumb to he she it this if the person is closed to you, your effort as you Yeah, yeah, there is an aspiration. Yet he she it that if they're fraud ary you referred to them as a rule. Well for the plural forms day and these. Or if it is a man and you want to respect the person, you will say Yea. But they and those if they're far or for respect. You will see. We now listen to these sentences. You should be able to recognize the world, man. Try to repeat them after me. The Hindi version only. Yes. May John. Whom May John? Who may American, Who may? I'm very good. Who may, doctor who may doctor who may teak who, man? Teak who? You would have noticed. Two things. One is that I am John in Hindi has become I John. Um So the object John has been placed directly after the main subject. That is I So I John M I American? Um, I Doctor, um, I peek uh um teak. So it is the subject verb object becomes subject off. Drop on. The second thing you will notice is that I am is may. There will be a now or any other word in between. At So man John who may American who? My doctor who vertical man and who I am is man 3. Addressing People Part II Medium: Now listen and repeat these sentences in Hindi After me Come American Hang, come I'm very good and hum pie and hum guy and hum door then hung dosed Hang home Connell Jehadi Come Cano jehadi again You will own just two things in translation from English to Hindi The object has been placed directly after the main subjects. So the main subject is we and the object in the first intense is American. So we are American has become We Americans are hum American Hang mom Hi Hey Hum, dosed And the last sentence There's a bit of a twist but the construct still remains the same home cannot Your head they hang the object here is Kana on It has come after home which is a subject Hum Khanna Jehadi The new word your word It is a world which means I want we want we want food home Kana Jehadi Hang The second thing is again It is home and head who are used together Always hum May who humping the three forms off you on which is Oh yeah. Oh, okay. Don't Oh and do here Everything else would have come in between up to hand don't doctor who do? Go on hit So ah is handled with hope and with their now repeat the Hindi sentences after me Uh Buday odd Me? You are an old man up booty Odd Me Hey, brewery is old and odd Me is Munn up egg achieve or hang Achy is good on the male form will be a chart Oh, that is woman Yup ik a cheese or ham to aby German ho Doom A b John o You are young Joanne is young Abbey is still so you can say you are still young toe a b John who? Some high The hen lab They go doom by the hen lug the whole You look like brother and sister by his brother on the hen His sister on lug their means Look to a char Garda Hey to a child Come Garda Hey you do good rock A char is good You can also see Ah a chief ho autumn achy ho off Do a charge ahead So charming is good and gum is work Car NYSE to do you do good work to a Chako Gotta head This is repeating Hindi The sentences after me The singular form you will notice is yeah. While the blue is you. This is the substitute for this. But in Hindi, this is yeah, if it is singular and if it is prudent, this becomes here also. If it is said with respect, this becomes even in a singular instance it becomes Yeah, like you Dodgy hand. Yeah, ends with an X elation and here has no X elation. That is the difference in pronunciation. Now that's could be sentences. Yeah, they're g here. This is a good Yeah, lucky had and yeah, let's go ahead. This is a boy. Yeah, do dot Here it is broken. But if the subject are the now that you are refering do is a few it now you will say Yeah d here. Yeah, but J Hey, these are Children. Yeah, but J hair that j is blue, but is Children So But Jay is Bruder. So we were sell year, but J yeah, school job. They hang the restaurant too. Children in the flu as there. So we said they go to school. Yeah. School Jothee. Yeah, the dodgy hand. This is Father. Now we come to that when you just far away again as in yet And yet that also had the same difference in the singular. It is there and brutal and with respect it is very the head and v vierheller Geeta. That is a good, very little go ahead. That is a boy. They toe the head, the head, the head It is broken the head. But j hang They're but they hand Those are Children The school job hang They go to school. The school job they had the pathology had This is Father. The head is not used here because pathology is said with respect Todo cae Very dodgy. Let us do a quick revision off the usage off. Yeah Yea very On the Yeah, The aspirated form is singular. When you point at someone and talk about the person he it this you will see. Yeah huh And in the prudery when he said the are these you will see Yeah hang in. The person is far away in the singular He she it that becomes Vaux. Hey aspirated Whoa hey! And they does are in the blueberry becomes a way hang The plural form is also used to denote respect So doors are parents the Maada Bitta Hang is a brother you would say well by head. She is a sister. Yeah, ba hen hair. So these are the foundations off the sentence. When you are introducing yourself or you're pointing at 1/3 person are talking to someone in front of you You can plug in words in the middle. Many words are understood in English as well. Like the professions doctor angina feature So you should be able to get by by using the's pairs of words. I, um is may who you can plug in the world you want in between Bake man Jack Who May Susan, Who may the hen that his sister who we are hum hang you are up Hey doom Who and do it We have talked about this idea. These other three alternatives do you are are disrespectful to miss Friendly And two is for a union person. He it this when they're closed by you will see Yeah, yeah is aspirated. They are these When you when they're close by or also and they are referred to with respect you will say Yea yea he it that when the person is far away you will see. Hey! And if it is plural day those and you want to say refer to them with respect, you will see. Hey, hey!
