1. 01 Introduction: then bring you class. You can design a sunny shores of our strategy succeeds design, industry experience and not in my line of business. Specializing in design illustration. This costs were going to cover a few things. Obviously, we're gonna look a form of self organization. Secondly, fall naming how package are always probably finally, a few tips on back. You'll be walking through this. We make it your own, said parking focus. Ready to use time and again, probably acting on you will need some private. Every part of the cost would be useful with your professional design. Students were just running here. 2. 02 FolderSetUp: So the first thing we're going to talk about is folder set up. What we're gonna do this section is we're gonna put together a template folder system which can be duplicated every new project to start this will help ensure consistency, clarity on a streamlined process for you. I mean, my finder with No. Yeah. Got a demo on folder. Get together about here. We're going to start off by making a beautiful, So I'm gonna right click when you fold up on here. I'm gonna dio who? Exes, man, underscore client name with a school project hit. Enter. So those four X is therefore job numbers, if you see over here on the left, I've got job numbers here, starting on some of those. So when that then becomes a project, you can even match with the court number or just with your job numbers. It might be saved 011 to place a crime name. Place the project name? No, you got So I'm gonna cook on that one. And then inside here, we're gonna make our new first folder. So again, right. Click new folder. We're gonna go. I want on the score concepts in this concept older. We'll be starting off by design ideas so you could have your mood boards in there on all of your kind of initial layout sketches on those sorts of things. Then you fold again. Number two School production. This is once we get a little bit further down the design process. We've kind of shown a few ideas to the client. We're moving forward with the sort of desired concept, and that's where we're going to go into production. And then in here I'll often have sort of once a verdict. It started out like a full print, maybe 900 by 600 webinar all of those sorts of things, and that will be project specific. So leave those two now. So once our artwork's gone through the design process, clients happy with it. It's a little proved, and we're getting ready to send it to print. That's when we get a phone to get off cola. That's the one that will be filling with the packaged artwork, which will do in the next section. I'm gonna add another folder in here now, for resource is inside that one links on and one for stop images um, if you want to be really organized in there, it's worth putting another father and just called purchased. So you can then apple the stock images you were testing out, maybe sounding here and then any purchase going there, the links could be a sort of any supplied piles or documents you're gonna use within the design. So you could be using brand icons, brand logos, that sort of thing, those considering their resources. So I find these in my sort of corporal that are always have. And then there are a few more, which I like to have just for a bit more organization. Our financial folder in their great for putting in any quotes to do with the job, especially you got printed quotes or production quotes. Put those in there. Six is legacy, so legacy would be either the previous artwork to this campaign. So maybe last year's designs all this could be the initial concepts you've been working on . So sometimes when a project goes to call a long time, um, you could get quite followed down the design process, get held up, things change, and you kind of end up scrapping. It's starting again So that's where I package all of that initial work up. Drop it into legacy, and then you always gotta there in case you need it. And finally, we're just going to do one for feedback. That's great. If clients is sending you feedback by PDS in the email and things like that drawn up PDS so I could just stole those in there. So that's it. So that one, he's our now generic project folder. Every time you go need project, you could just copy it, paste it into that. Come then, great time as you need. 3. 03 File Naming: So you do a quick bit about fall naming now. I'm sure many of you have experienced that situation. We've got poster, final, final, final Say somewhere. I know I have having far too often university my design. I found it was annoying at first, always thinking about how was meant to be naming files. But now it's just a natural habit and it helps me keep everything much Tidier and always defined. Organization speeds up my work. So what? I'm just gonna dio head over to in design here. I've got a document. I've It's actually saved it. Another fold announced. I'm gonna move it across and save it into our new demo folder. So I'm gonna just hit command shift eso file, save us click up onto the folder we've just made up here. I'm gonna go into production cause pretend that this is being all signed off by the climb, so I've actually already named it quite well here, but, uh, just go back and we're gonna take a look at how have done that. So the way I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna start with my client name, not running captains and client name. Then project nine oil time on the Virgin. Then I'll just save amounts into my production folder. Now, we could go into that production folder, and there it is. Climbing project name, file type. So one other thing you can do just clicked on. That s I can edit. The name is you can add your project number in there at the start. You can do the X is there to mark is a copy older there and then do another under school when we got there. 4. 04 Packaging Artwork: So for this next section packaging artwork, this is gonna be specific to in design. So if you haven't got any prior experience with the dhobi in design, you might want to just familiarize yourself with the program first. Obviously, if that's no program, you're gonna use them. Don't worry. But if you are using in design, this will be a really helpful tool. So here we are. We're in our production folder. We've got the file that we just created a named in double quick and opened it up. So there it is. It looks pretty pretty fun. First things I like to do before I package up artwork. I just want to go around and toddy these little exhibits. So I'm just gonna drag those down and make sure they just line up with my fleet marks here , um, for the personal preference I loved. Always work bleed marks. Even when I'm creating stuff forward digital campaigns, it just assures me that I'm never gonna creep inside that print line there by accident. I'm never gonna accident. May have a little don't you on that? Always making everything running to the edge without blade. So I'm just hiding on my backgrounds now lining those up lines. Let's go. The next thing I'm gonna do is I'm going to head up here to my sort. These pants. I don't have that open head to window color swatches, and there are quite a few colors going on in here. Actually, I got the gold dad from long ago within the white black. Obviously from the background, these other colors here, they're not actually being used. So actually gonna want to delete those songs? Audio Click on this little like on this little four linemen. You I come up here and that gives us an extra options there in swatches panel. So I'm gonna select away unused. And there were guys I've got knows I can click, delete. And now they're gone because I didn't need those, so I just do. Sometimes you might say you've got an object here. Drop it in Matt to this little object here just to make sure it's it Said is one of those torches. So we'll pretend I've kind of forgotten about that. Click. These four swatches hit Italy, and it says that one of the swatches is in use. So this is a really nice way of tidying up all the colors. Let's see. But multiple versions of this name color we could click the ones you don't watch and redefine them or something so I could redefine off any time I've got that like blue, I could redefine it. Is this gold? So we have it. There's a nice, tidy in design file. I'm just going to have a few changes. So I'm just gonna hear safe just so that I can go at the top, You know that this is safe, and then I'm gonna get a foil package. So it's got one little warning on it here just to say that to my images using RGB color space. This particular piece is for Web and digital viewing, so that's not gonna bother me here. The color is therefore full process color. So I might want to go through there and Tony that up. Just switch it to RGB Great men. Now, if I had fun, say package, their package publication must be saved before continuing. Just hit Save. This is the printing instructions. Continue on that one. And then we'll navigate back to our project. We're gonna go to another three artwork now tend to remove that foldout reversion work in there and then down in these checked boxes. We want to copy the fonts. Any funds that week we can. Actually, most of those are restricted these days, so you won't get many phones packaged up. But it's good to have on anyway. Copy any linked graphics, so that will be your links to images and things like copies I's cross. We're going to include an idea mount, so that's a legacy for math in design filed. These are amazing of open files, sort of about 15 years old, using me legacy formats. And it's really good if you've got a big piles up in the future and include a Pdf print. So what will normally do is all include, like a generic output. Lower Expedia and I'll just hit package this hit back a fondue. There's a new folder work, Let's Go Links Well in that document. Wants Legacy version in his own version of the lovers. Pdf 5. 05 Backing Up: Now we have. Our final op folder is packaged. Let's back it up twice. You never know when that computer is gonna get lost. Stolen coming water, which brake randomly so it's best to be doubly safe becomes your fault. My preference is to use Extend hard drive for me, you backups. So don't normally be this one that I you see. I think that's Ah wanted to terrify Seagate's hard drive. Well, he's that keep a complete copy of land Title this Dropbox to keep back up a little, find work package often, then do a second back up on another hard drive, just in case the first breaks. I actually have to Second said, Back up our jobs. Essentially, I'm since running my own business. It's just really important to make sure, you know, lose with ice Falls. So I've got kind of primary hard drive there secondary and then, once every couple months off, we back it up. Um, once every so two weeks, it's all part of the 2nd 1 The 1st 1 to do that west every day and in the same with Dropbox one x a little habit I have which might be was mentioning is whatever I stopped to think about my design. Well, the next movement on the computer I'm doing, I just automatically It saves. Just get at less every time. I can't stop holes that way. They get called designing some of my best work spending hours on peace on in the program crashes or something goes wrong with a computer, so it's best just to do it naturally as you go every time he pulls it side. 6. 06 Final Thoughts & Tips: thanks for you Time test. If you've got any questions or comments that just costs.
