1. Welcome to the course! :): Hello, my name is Christine and welcome back to your new Procreate illustration course. In this course, you will create a delicious illustration of a cake and some cold brew coffee. All you need for this course is the Apple pencil, the iPad, and Procreate app. You don't need any prior experience. This course is made to be very easy to understand and follow. You'll have a great time playing with different tools and colors and find how relaxing it can be to create your own digital artworks. Grab your pen and let this course guide you through your own creative process. 2. The Bushes: For this illustration, you will need to create a canvas that has 4000 by 4000 pixels. Press Create, and go into the newly created Canvas. Then you will want to go into the layers and select the background. For the background, you'll want to select a cream color. The brushed use in this course, It's called the Amon brush. Any can be found in the course description. The color palette for this course is called Coffee time, and it can be found in the course description as well. At first, you will want to pick the darkest hue of blue from the pellet. With this blue, you will create the background of the main elements of the composition. So at first, you will want to create two ovals on the lower part of the Canvas. Keep the pen down until the oval becomes smooth. After that, you can grab the color from the corner and drop it in the middle of the oval to fill its form, then you will make the second oval on the right side of the first, overlaying them, draw the oval, keep the pencil down until the form gets even. And then you can add it the shape, dragging it a little to the right. Then you can drag the color to its form. You can go to the color palette and select the lightest to recoils from the top left corner. With this turquoise, you'll want to draw the first brush, living from the right side of the top of the oval window up with three curves. Now you can drag the color from the corner to its form. You will go to the color palette and choose the orange from the middle of the palate. With this orange, you will shape the second budge on the left side. So leaving from the middle of the first blush, you will go up with three curves and then the sand to the left side, closing the form down on the bottom and then fill its form with orange. Now you can go into the Layers and alpha log bilayer, so you can add some beautiful shadows to the brushes. For that, you will go into the brushes and select from the spray paints, the medium nozzle brush, then you will pick the dark gray used previously and start adding it to the first brush and start shadowing the bottom right side of it. Nicely shadowing the spaces between the curves on the right side and then shadowing the left side of the brush as well. After that, with the same dark turquoise, you will start to add some details to the brush. So you will firstly select the element brush, decrease the flow and the size of the brush, and then zoom in a little bit on the bus. Then start by adding a thin line across the curve and then add a couple of lines on the right side, and then on the left side of the middle line. And two more on the lower right side. Zooming out a little bit and then going to the next curve, adding a line on the middle of it and then add two lines on the left side and two more a bit thicker on the right side. Now, for the third curve, you will do the same as for the others at the line from the top going down and then give the sides a couple of lines that gradually go towards the middle line. Now you can move to the orange bush. You will firstly want to add the shadows on it. So going into the spray paints, select the medium nozzle brush, and with a darker hue of orange, start adding a couple of shadows on the bottom of the curves to create some textures nicely shadow a little bit between the curves and on the right side of the brush. Now, let's pick a brighter, bolder hue of orange and start adding it on the bottom left side of the brush, nicely going around the bottom, making two curves on the lower bottom. Then you can pick the R1 brush and start adding some textures to the orange bush. Like before starting from the left side, you will cross the middle of the curve with a thin line and then do the same for the next two from the right. Then you will add a couple of thin lines on the sides of the curve from the right and then move to the next one on the left, giving it stopped two more lines. Now you can increase the size of the brush a little bit and zoom in on the left side of the bush. Now you will add a couple of stripes on the middle curve, a couple more on the last curve on the left, ferrying them in length and size. And with that, this first step is done. Let's move into the next one. 3. Little circles: For the next step, you will firstly create a new layer. On this layer, you will create a couple of circles around the bush to decorate a bit the background. So you will firstly select the Amon brush and the yellow from the bottom half of the color palette. Then you will move above the turquoise brush and start making a couple of yellow circles. One smaller on the right side, and then moving to the left side, add one more, a bit larger, and a little more oval. Now you can choose the blue from the left side of the yellow. And with this blue, you will add two beautiful circles on the top part. One larger on the left side and one more, a little bit smaller on the right side, dragging the color in. Now you will zoom in the lower left side and add one more tiny blue circle. Now at one more on the right side of the blue brush. Now you can pick the orange and add one more just next to the big blue circle from the left side. Now you will go to the layers and alpha lock the layer with the circles. This will allow you to add some shadows to them. So you will firstly pick the dark orange from the color palette and choose the medium nozzle brush from the spray paints. Decreasing the size of the brush a little bit. You will go to the orange dots from the right side and give their bottom right side and nice little shadow. And now chopping the size of the brush just a little bit. Add one more shadow on the yellow circle from the right side, right next to the blue one. Now you will go to the color palette and choose the dark blue. With this blue, you will start shadowing from the bottom left corner, the circles covering the right bottom side of them and to more shadows on the right side of the last two blue circles. Now let's do a little bit more shadowing on the blue from the right side. So you will go to the layers and select the first layer. Then you will add a couple of shadows around the curves, making them look a little bit more round. Going between the curves of the brush, a little bit more on the left side of it, and a little more on the right side too. And with that, another beautiful step is that. 4. The Branches: For this next step, you will want to add another layer for some gorgeous branches with leaves. So you will start by adding a new layer and selecting from the color palette a beautiful bright gray. Then you will go into the brushes and select the Amon brush. Now that all the tools are ready, you will zoom in a little bit on the orange bush and start shaping a beautiful branch. And then you will add to its size a couple of beautiful circles. Want to the right and under one on the lower, to the left side. A beautiful round one on the top and one more, a little bit tinier on the bottom right side. Then you can feel the forums by dragging the color from the corner. Then you can go to the left side of the branch and create another beautiful branch a little bit longer. Let's put a beautiful circle on the top and, and then move on the right side and place another circle. You can feel the forums by just feeling good with the pencil. Then you can shape a bigger circle on the left side, a bit lower. Now that the two branches are done, you can go into the layers and duplicate the last layer with the branches. Now you will go into the Move tool and flip the duplicated branches and drag them to the right side, just on the turquoise brush. Now you can move them a little bit to the top. And selecting the rap too, you will change the shape a little so they don't look cloned. Let's drag the corners and see how can they look different than the others. Now that they are a little bit more different, and select the move to end, go into the palette, choosing a beautiful orange, just like the orange from the left brush. Now you can drag the color onto the newly created branches. Now you can go to layers and merge down the two layers so you can keep your project nice and organized. Alpha lock the layer so you can add to the branches and nice spots of shadows, go into the color palette and select a beautiful ocher. Now, you will zoom into the two branches from the right and starting from the bottom, you will give the circles and nice lines, cryptic, our lawn brush. You can go a little bit on the branch to create some shadows as well. Now you will move to the one from the left side and live in from the bottom, you can start shadowing the beautiful circles on the bottom side. So it seems like the light is coming from above. Now, you can move back to the first one and start drawing a couple of curved lines across the little circles. By doing that with just a couple of lines, you will make the little circles seem like they have volume. So is it to give a little bit of plasticity to the forums? Now that orange branches are done, you can move to the white ones. You will want to firstly go into the color palette and select a light gray from the bottom row. Then it will zoom onto the white branch from the left and increasing the size just a little. You will go on the bottom of the little circles with couple of beautiful curves. Look how beautiful and easy, ease to create these curves. Now you will zoom out a little bit and put some shadows on the branch from the left, nicely shadowing a little bit of the branch 2. And now, as before, you will want to decrease the size of the brush just a little bit and give the circles some middle stripes. And now going on one from the left, so easy and relaxing to create these forums. Now, let's zoom out a little to see the bigger picture and get into the next step. 5. The Coffee mug: In this step, you will create a beautiful coffee glass. So starting with a new layer, you will begin to build this beautiful round glass. So you will go to the color palette and select a clean white. Then you will go to the bottom of the turquoise brush and create a beautiful oval form. This will be the bottom of the glass. Hold the pencil down until a beautiful oval shape is formed. Then you can drag the oval to make it a little bit more straight and a little bit more wide. Then you can drag it from the bottom down so it can have a wider bottom. After you are satisfied with the shape, you can go to the color from the corner and drag it into the oval form. Then you will draw another beautiful oval just around the top of the bush. This will be the mouth of the coffee jug. Draw beautiful oval shape and hold the pencil down and start adjusting the position so the top can be symmetrical to the one from the bottom. After the top of the monk is done, you can select a light grade from the bottom of the palette and drag it to the top oval. After that, you will draw the neck of the jug with two lines going down from the sides of the oval, going down till the middle of the distance. Then in the space left between, you will draw a big circle. Hold the pencil down, going into the edit shape to make the circle a bit more big. So you can nicely fill the shape between keeping the oval from the bottom inside the circle. After that, you can grab the eraser and get rid of the bottom side of the circle, making the eraser a little big, bigger. So you can be more efficient. After that, you will grab the brush and make the corner from the neck a little bit smoother by adding a wide curve. And another one on the left side, just making sure the corner is nice and smooth. After that, you can grab the color from the corner and drop it on the surface of the glass on it, snack on the big round form. And after that, you can feel the little spaces left on the corners by zooming in a little bit, feeling what's left from those small places. Then you can zoom out and look if the glass needs more adjustments. Now that the glass is done, you can alpha lock this layer and go into the light gray used previously for the top of the glass. Then you will go into the brushes and select the medium nozzle. Then you can go into the selection tool and select on automatic the wide part of the glass. Now you will start adding some shadows on the sides of glass, starting with neck, leaving a small strip of white in the middle of it. Then you can shadow a little bit of the bottom of the glass, increasing the flow for a more efficient coverage. A little bit on the right side. Two, after that, you can go back to the neck of the glass and add some lines across it. Now that you have given it a little bit of shape, you can unselect the glass and select only the mouth with the same gray. You will add a little bit of this paint on the bottom of the oval form. So it seems like it has a little bit of shadow. Now you can proceed to create the liquid from the glass. And that's a wonderful cold brew coffee. So you will go into the color and select the beautiful red from the middle of the palette. Then you will go into the brushes and select the arm one brush. Now you will proceed to create the liquid from the glass. You will firstly make an S-shape on the middle of the circle and then drop in the color. Hold the pencil down and drag it to the right to cover more of the bottom. Then you can go to a lighter hue of red and at the back of the liquid. So you will draw a curve on the top of the S curve and create a teardrop shape. Now, let's repair that little inconvenient line with the little bit of that darker red color. Then you can zoom out and going to the color palette. You can select the dark orange from the top of the red. With this orange, you can go to the neck of the glass and give it to nice curves following the curve of the top of the glass. Now filling the shape, you will drag the color from the corner into the shape. And once more for a brighter color. Now, it's perfect. Then you will go into the selection tool and select all the beautiful dark orange ribbon from its neck. Then it can go into the light orange from the bottom and select it, moving into the brushes and selecting the medium nozzle from the spray paints, you will give its middle section and nice bright yellow light, so it has a little bit of volume. Now, let's make a wonderful ribbon across the neck. Go into the color palette, select this beautiful yellow from the corner, and then select the oman brush from the inking brushes. Let's zoom in a little and make a beautiful lose ribbon across the neck with a little knot in the middle. Now let's give this beautiful symbol ribbon, a little shadow going into the selection tool and selecting it firstly, then with a nice light orange, go into the brushes, selecting them medium nozzle once again, and then give its right side and its left side, just the bit of this nice light orange. So it seems it's a little bit shadowed, 23 shadows near the knob and this lovely glass of coffee, it's ready to be served. Now, let's get into the next step. 6. The Plate and the Cake: For this lab, you will prepare by adding a new layer to your project. Then you will go into the brushes and select the wonderful owl mom brush. Now you can go into the color palette and select a wide for the plate. So once again, let's make a beautiful overall. Hold the pencil down until it's perfectly oval shape appears. Then you can edit the shape and make it a bit more wide. Dragging it to the left side and a bit more flat, pushing it upwards. Then you can drag it to the middle of the shadow from the bottom and make it a bit wider on the right side. Maybe drag it a little to the left so it can be even more wider. We need a big blade for that beautiful piece of cake that is coming next. Now, drag the white color from the corner and fill the shape. And now you will create the sides of the plate, too short lines on each side. And then let's create another oval shape on the top. Let's edit it so it can fit perfectly on the sides of the plate. Now, let's go into the plate and select a beautiful gray to give the back of the blade a little bit of shadow. Now once more, go into the void and filled the little corners left behind. Let's get closer and fix that little. Let's erase that extra wide from the corner and zoom out. Now, let's alpha lock the layer and go into the same gray from the back, select the classic medium nozzle from the spray paints, and get a little closer to the right side of the blade. Now you can shadow the bottom corner of the plate to make it seem a little bit more round. Look how gender is this shadow, just a small touch of color is enough. Now let's move to the left side and create the same effect once more nicely going along the bottom of the plate. And now let's zoom out and see how it looks. Now, let's create another layer and prepare to create the long desired cake, going into the color palette and pick a medium cream color. Go and select the lovely mon brush and draw a beautiful rectangle with its white side on the bottom. After it snaps into place, you can simply add it the shape and give it a nice form, making it a little bit wider. Let's fix a little that angle of 90 degrees. Push up the top left corner and bring the right one just a little bit lower and to the right. Now you can zoom out to better see the foreman them grab the color and drop it on the form. Let's grab the eraser and get rid of that extra better from the left side. Now you can go on the color palette and pick the lighter bread from the middle, just like the one from the top of the coffee. Then you can go on the selection to select the form of the batter increasing a little bit the size of the brush. You can add to the middle of the cake two lines. Then you can drag and drop the color. After that, select the darker red and make a wide straight line on the bottom of the cake, feeling. Then you can pick the darker cream color from the top. Now you will go back to the selection tool and select only the DOE of the cake. So you can control it a little and give it some stripes of shadow. So just go along the sides of the rectangle freely. The color will sit only on the door. You don't have to make the line straight, just go along the contour to give it a little bit of dimension. Now that the first step of the cake is done going on to the moving to grab the right corner and drag it to the top right side of the screen. And now let's go into the layers and merge the last down. So you can have a nice and tidy project. And with that, another beautiful step is done. Congratulations. 7. The Frosting: For this step, you will have to create another beautiful layer for the frosting of this stays the cake. So you can select the bright white from the palette, go to the top of the cake and draw a beautiful triangle with the widest edge on the bottom. Hold it down until it's nice and smooth. Then you can grab the color from the corner and drop it inside the triangle. Now, let's get a little bit closer to the frosting and create some details. Let's add a beautiful curve on the tip of the cake and some more frosting going on the back of the cake. And another little curve right here between the two. Now we can go into the layer of the cake to create some nice shadows. So you will select the medium nozzle, spray paint brushes, and then decrease the size of the brush just a little bit. After that, you can grab the beautiful dark cream color from the top of the color palette and just brush beneath the little curves of the frosting, making sure it's nice and smooth by going across its edge several times and a little bit on the back too. Now you will create a couple of shadows for the frosting. So going into the selection tool and select the frosting, select back the brush and pick the light gray from the color palette. Now you will go along the little curves from the frosting and just shadow a little bit of its edges, a bit of the left side of them. Let's put some of this light gray on the back of this cake frosting, and that should be enough. Now you make the right edge of the frosting a little bit more inclined to the left. So it doesn't look like the Everest of frostings. Draw straight line, hold the pencil down and go into the Edit Shape Tool. Now you can adjust the erasing line. You've just done such a useful tool. And at the end, you make the two little corners a little bit more round. Now that the frosting is finished, you can go into the layers and merge them down just on the top of the cake. Beautiful. Now, let's get into the last step. 8. The Cherries: For this last taste, this step, you will give this stays cake, a couple of juicy berries and cherries. So you will firstly create the last layer and select the beautiful red from the right side of the dark blue. Then you will make sure your brush is set on the lawn brush. Let's decrease the size of the brush to have more control and zoom in the left side of the plate. Now let's create a beautiful raspberry on this part of the plate. Just next to the cake. You will start with three beautiful circles on the bottom and the tiny one on the right and a little hidden. Now, go to the top and add two more larger circles and fill them. As you circle them. They don't need to be perfectly round. And one more tiny on the right side. And the last big berry on the top of the two. Now that the first layer of this berry is done, Let's go to the right and add a nice and round cranberry and another one a little bit on the back of the cake. Now you can go on the top of the frosting and add a couple of tiny berries on the tip of the cake. Let's zoom a little bit on the tip of the cake and make three tiny beautiful berries. And now you will make the secondary raspberry just above the little curve of frosting with four nice circles on the bottom. You can make them of different sizes. It doesn't matter, but makes sure the ones from the sides are a little bit smaller than the others. Another two circles going up, filling them with color, and then another beautiful one on top. Now, let's put some cherries on the top of this cake, some beautiful and big cherries. You will make the first just in the middle of the cake, fill it with the brush, or you can simply drag the color from the corner. Then you will add another one on the back of the first. And now let's shape the last one on the left side a bit higher than the other two, then that the first color of the berries is done. You will go into the colors and select these beautiful cream pink from the bottom corner of the palette to make some beautiful highlights on the berries. Let's zoom into the first two berries and make a beautiful round highlight on the top left side of this cranberry. Now you will go to the raspberry and give its tiny fruits a couple of nights around highlights. This really helps you read the form of the fruit, which was not very possible before this step. Now you can see how round the little circles are. And then let's just touch with a little bit of light. This three tiny berries. Once more. Let's create some light on the second raspberry, making them nice and round. Don't worry about the gaps from between the berries. If they bother you, you can always drag the color in. And now the last little berry from the right. Now you will make some nice teardrop shaped lights on the top side of the big cherries. One right here with the thin tail on the right side. And another beautiful light just below the first. Now you will move to the one from the left side and add a nice highlight on the top left side and another triangle like shape on the top of the last cherry. Let's zoom out and see how beautiful this highlights luke. Now you can go to the spray paints and select the medium nozzle, just like before ambit the dark red from the middle of the palate. Let's create some nice shadows just below the tiny red fruits. Just like that shadowing the bottom right side of the fruit opposite to the light. You can make the brush a little bit smaller to have more control over the brush. That should be just fine. Let's see, having a beautiful shadow on the bottom. Let's move to the left and shadow the respiratory from the blade. Going in just a little bit on the red part of the fruit. Don't make them too dark. Just add a couple of volumes to the fruits. A bit here on the three little berries from the tip, the cake. And now let's create a nice big shadow on the bottom right side of this cherry, going just near the half of the cherry, with this beautiful dark shadow moving to the next from the left side, avoid shadowing the highlights. Now, let's move to the last cherry and give his bottom and nicely curved shadow just right here. Now you will move to the last raspberry and decreasing the size of the brush just a little bit, give it just a couple of tiny shadows leaving from the bottom right side of the berry, Going to the next from the left, a little bit over here and in the middle of the fruit and the tiny one just in this corner. Now they look extra tasty and round. Now you can go into the brushes and pick the one brush. Then from the color palette, you can grab the darkest gray from the top and just add a couple of nice accents of contrast, some small tails. Then you will move to the cherries and add to each of them some nice long tails with a small accent of this dark gray on the fruit, just where the little tail heights and a less beautiful cherry tail on the left side of the last cherry. Beautiful. Now you can easily grab those Stacy cherries. For the last touches, Let's add a couple of light points on the berries to add a tiny amount of glass. Now you can add this gloss circles on the top of the highlights from before, a small one on the cranberry and moving to the right, adding another small one, a tiny bit of light on these three beautiful berries. Moving to the last raspberry, and then going on the three big cherries with three beautiful gloss points on the top of the highlights. Let's zoom out and admire how great those berries look. How those little glass points make them pop out, but they still are quite harmonized with rest. They don't look over done. At the end. You can merge the fruit layer down the cake or not, and just lay back and admire your beautiful coffee time moment. Thank you so much for taking this course. And if you enjoyed it, make sure you drop your assignment. Thank you once more and see you on the next course.
