About This Class

Thomas Edison famously said,  “Genius is 1% inspiration, 99% perspiration.”

Once you have a great idea,  the execution is mostly skill,  talent, and perseverance.   It’s getting the great idea in the first place than can be a challenge…especially if you have to do it on demand and under pressure.

This is true whether you’re an artist, designer, writer, musician,  or even a business person.

In two decades of teaching Greeting Card Design and Marketing (at Parsons School of Design) I   discovered the greatest challenge for my students was conceptualizing cards to meet their homework assignments. They didn’t know where to begin.  It seems easy enough to come up with ideas…until you try to actually do it.

I realized what they needed was a step by step method for generating concepts.

In this class, I share the method which I developed and refined for myself over decades, and which I finally put into a simple, easy-to-follow format.   Every creative person develops their own process over time.  This is my process.  I know my students found it extremely helpful.  I hope you will, too.
