About This Class

In this class, you will be learning three incredibly powerful, visual, and fundamental card tricks. Each trick:

  • Requires absolutely no setup; you can do it with a borrowed deck of cards
  • Is incredibly unique and utilizes a fundamental part of card magic
  • Is visual and will leave your audience shocked

The tricks that you will learn are:

  • Ambitious Card Routine: A famous card trick where a freely chosen card repeatedly jumps from the middle of the deck to the top under more and more impossible conditions.
  • Mentalism: A crazy mind reading card trick where the spectator just thinks of a card and you can cut right to the card without them ever taking the card out of the deck or telling you what the card is.
  • Jokers Wild: A spectator freely selected two cards which are then lost in the deck, a joker is then used to magically shapeshift into both of the spectator's cards right before their eyes!

1. Intro: hello and welcome to my skill share clause In this class, you will learn how to perform three of my favorite card tricks. I believe that all three of these card tricks are a must know. For any card magician, this class is for intermediate levels, as these tricks are a little more complex and require more sleight of hand. If you are a complete beginner, I recommend you first watch my class called powerful card magic and then get back to this class. The first trick you will learn is called Joker's Wild, where you will be able to make a joker shape shift into a Spectators freely selected card right before their eyes. Next, you will learn mental ism, which is, in my opinion, the best mind reading card trick there is. The spectator will just think of a cart without even taking it out of the deck, and you will be able to find their card. Finally, you will learn the ambitious card routine where Spectators freely chosen card will jump from the middle of the deck to the top of the deck under more and more impossible conditions. After completing this class. If you have already done so I strongly recommend you watch my first class called powerful Card Magic. All of the tricks in that class are easier to learn there, just as crucial and still incredibly powerful. Also, I ask that you leave a review for this class at the end. 2. Jokers Wild: here. I have the Joker. This card is a special card because it's a wild card. I'm gonna go and put it over here. Now go ahead and take two cards out of the day and you can show them to me. It's OK if I see them. So you got the queen of spades and the nine of diamonds. So I'm gonna go and get the queen of spades lost right into the middle of the debt and also go ahead and give them a few cuts just to make sure it's really lost in there. And that will get your nine of diamonds buried right into the middle. And just to make sure they're really lost in there, I'm going to give the cards a riffle shuffle. Now your cards are buried in the middle of the deck, and there's no way I can find them. That's why I need the help of my joker. Now. This joker is a shape shifter because it can turn into your nine of diamonds now, just as it concerning to your nine of diamonds. It can also turn into your queen of spades now, although I can turn into both of these cards. At the end of the day, it's still just the Joker. Welcome to the tutorial for Joker's Wild. For this tutorial, I'm gonna be using the Joker. But you can, obviously, is any card you want. So you start to trick off by taking the Joker out of the death. And you told us Spectator that this is a wild card. Don't tell them why it's a wild card just yet because they'll get to figure that out as the trip goes on. This trick works best if you have to separate Spectators, but if you only have one spectator, that's okay, too. You can just have them take out two cars. Now you can have a spectator reveal the cards to you, and you want to make sure that they remember both cards. You can start to trip by telling the spectator that you're gonna get both of the cards lost into the middle of the deck. Now what we want to do is by the end, we want to have both of these cards face down at the top of the deck. You can do this in any way you want. There's a bunch of different ways to get these two cards to the top of the deck. I'm gonna be teaching one in particular in this video. Okay, so you start off with one card and you swipe it into the middle of the deck from the back, just like that. And you keep it out jobbed just a little bit then, would you? Right hand you push down on to the card with the middle of your thumb. So you just pushed down a little bit, and then you just wipe it in words and that will result in you having a thumb break in the middle of the debt. So again, here is the card. We swipe it in and we keep it a little bit out job with the right hand, we just push it in and that result in a thumb break. Now, from here, we can do a double undercut. So we bring our left hand over and we can break off part of the deck, part of the bottom packet here, and place it on top and then break off the rest of the cards all the way until you get to the thumb break and place cells on top as well. So, um, in full speed, it looks like this. We placed a card in the middle. We thought we catch some break on, then we got a double undercut. Now, with the second card, you just take it, place it at the top of the deck, and from here I do a fake cut so you can do whatever fake cuts you want as long as a spectator thinks that this card at the top got mixed into the middle of the deck. So here's a fake cut that I like to do. So this is actually very easy to fake. So you hold the cards with your thumb at the bottom of the deck on these two fingers at the tops and not your pinky or your indexing. And from here, you want to do a swing cut. So swing cut is when you bring your index finger and you peel off half talk half the cards from the top and you swing them to the left. So you cut off half the cards and you swing to the left. It's just that motion right there and not from here. You can be in your right hand over. Grab this top packet and I tilt the packet of my left hand and with the right pack in my right hand, I just hit it off of these cards. Place it on the table, place to talk back in on top. So essentially, what we're doing is just this we're doing absolutely nothing, but it looks like it's a cut. So in full speed, it looks like that, and it looks very believable. And so again, swing cut. My left hand brings this packet over. Tilt it hit. Please. Please. Now you can tell your spectator that both of the cards are completely lost in the middle of the deck and there's no way for you know where they are. And that's why you need your wild card to help you find them. Now, as you explaining to this to them, you want to catch a pinky break underneath the top card. So actually, not this guy. Just the top card on the way you can do this is you can just push this card out, and as you bring it back in, collect your pinky break. Now, I do have a lesson in this class on how to do this pinky break. So that's gonna be at the bottom of the class at the bottom of the list of lessons. So again, you just push it out. And as you bring it back in, you collect your thinking Break. Now, from here, you can take the wild card, place it on top of the deck. You want to bring your right hand over, and you want to grab these cards just like that. So you want to grab them with your middle finger in the top, right corner and your thumb on the bottom left corner on. This is very easy to do after you have your pinky break. So you bring your right hand over your middle finger in the top, right, your thumb in the bottom Left. Now, from here, you want to do the the sheikh change, and this is a combination of two moves. The 1st 1 is using your index finger to twist the two cards like so So you just use your index finger. Just rotate two cards just like that, and you want to combine this with a shaking motion so this is actually how it looks. So you wanted to both of those at the same time. So in speed, it looks like that I find that it's easier to do the shape change if you have the cards con cave up like so. So you can just con cave them just a little bit on. As you shake them, you can use your index finger to turn them around. Now, after you do the shaking, your Spectators gonna be distracted by what just happened. And during that time, you want to catch a pinky break underneath the top card. So this is another pinky break underneath their second card. And after you get that pinky break, you can bring these two cards over and place them on top of the deck. Now, from here, we want to do the exact same thing we just did. We want to grab three cards this time. So the Spectators to cards and the Joker using our thumb in the bottom left in our middle finger in the top. Right. So we're gonna grab these three cards now from here. We want to do another shape shifting effect on this one. Looks like this. So it looks pretty cool and the way you do, this one is again. We have our thumb in the bottom left and our middle thing in the top, right? So the corners without the Pips and then we bring our left hand over and replace our left hand thumb in the top left and our middle right hand, middle finger in the bottom. Right. So here we have both of our thumbs on one side and middle fingers on the other side. Now, from here, you want to pinch down on the cards with the left hand so your right hand fingers are actually doing nothing. You kind of want to relax a little bit, but with your left hand fingers. You want to pinch the card down like this and you wanna release them. But you want to release your thoughts a little bit earlier, and sometimes your right hand actually gets in the way from the spin completing, and that could be a little bit annoying. But just play around with this, and it'll it's actually really easy to get good at. Okay. So again, with these two fingers pinched down on the card and then I released my thumb just a little bit earlier than my middle finger. And now we have the second card and we can tell a spectator. So the shape shoes doing just change into your second card. Now, from here, we actually want to release the bottom card, and so you can just drop it. And now we just have the two cards here on. This is a little bit easier than you might think. Now, for this last part of the trick, you want to drop this bottom card onto the deck so that we're just holding these top two cards so you can bring your hand close to the deck and you can kind of just peel it off with your left hand. So the hand that's holding the deck, you can just peel it off. And now we're just holding these two cards. And from here, you can explain to your spectator that the wild card containing to both of your cards, but at the end of the day, still just a wild card 3. Mentalism: I'm gonna go through the cards one by one. And I want you to just memorize one card that stands out to you. Don't say it out loud. And don't tell me when you picked your card. OK? Do you have a card selected? You? Yeah. Okay. So I'm gonna go ahead and give the cards a few cuts. And the thing about this trick is that I never make you actually take a card out. All you did was just memorize the card in your head. Right? Okay. I'm gonna go through the cards again, and I want you to just look for your card, So I want you to card to get ingrained in your head. Okay? So just look for your card. Did you see her card? Yeah. Decided card. Okay, Now I'm gonna try and find your card. I'm gonna go and give him a few cuts, and I'm gonna try and find your car. Was your car five clubs? So that's crazy, because idea had no idea where your card was. You just thought about it, right? And I went right to the five of clubs. Welcome to the tutorial for mental ism. Now the great thing about this trip is that it requires no set up at all. And you could literally borrow a deck from a spectator and have them shuffle the cards as much as they want. Now, after they're done shuffling the cards and they give the deck back to you, there's gonna be a random six cards at the top of the deck. They're completely random six cards. But for the sake of this tutorial, I'm gonna be using the ace through six of spades to help you follow along. All right, so there's gonna be a random six cars at the top of the death. And what you're gonna tell the spectator is that you're gonna go through the cards one by one, and you want them to memorize a card. You don't want them to tell you that what card it is, and you don't want them to tell you when they've got their card, just have them. Tell them that. Just memorize one card as you're going through. So then you want to start peeling cards off, and you want to make sure that you hold onto the cards. Okay, so you're gonna start feeding all the way. And you wanna be counting until you get to the sixth card. So you have six cards in my hand. And when you peel off the six card, you want to ask them if they've got a card already. If the spectator says that they don't have a card memorized already, you want to take these six cards and you want to place him at the bottom and you want to restart. Okay, so then you can just start peeling off six cards and you do the whole process all over again. If they say they have a cardinal rise, which is most of the time, you want to place the 1st 3 cards down, and then you want to catch a pinky break above the top three cards. Okay. So again, you have the six cards in your hand at six, right? Yeah. You want to place the 1st 3 and then catch a pinky break. But the top three, we have a separation, your three cards, your pinky breaking any of the other three cards of the six. All right. So from this pinky break, you want to bring your right hand over and you want to grab the deck with your right hand, but you want to maintain this break with your thumb. So this is called a thumb break. So you're gonna bring your right hand over, and you're gonna grab the deck like this while maintaining that break with your thumb just like that, and you can push on it with this finger right here. So again, from the pinky break converted to a thumb break, grab the deck with your hand and then you want to do a double undercut. So I'm gonna grab half the cards, bring them on top and then the other half the cards on being the mountain from here. Well, you want to do next is you want to get a random card to the bottom of the deck. So the way I usually like to do this because I tell the spectator that oh, most card tricks have you actually take a card out of the deck on, you know, memorize that card and then put it back in the debt. While this trick is not like that, this trick, you just memorize the card in your head. So you see, with that conversation, I actually managed to take a random card out while telling them not. You know, most tricks have you take a card and place it at the bottom of the deck, and it looks really casual. Okay, Okay. And from here, you want to turn to the bottom of the deck and you want to tell the spectator that you really wanted ingrained in their head. They're card. So you're gonna go through the cards and you want them to look for their card again. Okay, So what you're gonna do here is you want to start counting the 1st 7 cards as you go through the card. So you wanted to just look like you're spreading through the card so that they're looking for their card. But really, what you're doing is you're just counting 123456 and seven cards. And you're pinching those seven cards in your finger. OK, so you're just grabbing the 1st 7 cards. But you want to make sure that you keep going through the cards so that they don't think that you know that it's in one of these cards in one of these? Yeah, in one of these seven cards. Okay, So again you're gonna ask them. You're gonna tell them that you want to make sure that the card gets ingrained in their head. And because you want to do this, you want them to see their card again. So you're gonna go through the cards and you want him to look for the card. So 34567 And we got the first time in cards in our hand and you want to keep going, and then you want to ask him, OK, Did you see your card now? Depending on their answer, there's gonna be two different things that we can do now. If they say that, they did see the card. You want to take all seven cards and place them at the front of the deck. Okay. Now, from here at the front of the deck, we know that they're card is in the fourth fifth for sixth position from the bottom. So again, from the 4th 5th or sixth position. Now, let's say that they say they didn't see their card. So we're over here. We're in this position. We have our seven cards in her hand and we asked him OK, did you see your card and they say No. That means we know for a fact that their card is in one of these top three cards. Okay, so you want to just drop the seven cards. So 34567 You just want to drop them square up the deck, and from here, you want to actually peel off 123 cards and place them at the front. Now, in doing this, we actually position We know that they're card is either in the fourth, fifth, our sixth position again. So either way, if they say that they did see their card or not, we want to get their possible card in the 4th 5th or sixth position. And so now we're in that position. We have the card in the 4th 5th or sixth position. Okay. Now, from here, you want to place the cards on the table, and you're gonna tell them they're gonna start puting cards off. So you're gonna take the 1st 3 cards off normally, and you gonna play some of your hand now the the next three. You know that one of the next three cards is their card. So you gonna kill off the 1st 1 and you actually wanna look at it. So this is very easy to do without them noticing. So you can just tilted a little bit higher and you want to memorize that three of spades and you want to place it in your hand. But you want to make sure that you catch another pinky break above that card. Okay, so we know that this is a three of spades for in actuality, this is gonna be a random cards. It's obviously not gonna be the three of spades, right? And so then you're gonna peel off the next one, and you also want to look at it two of spades and from here you have two of the three possible cards in your hand and you have one here, okay? And you want to ask them what was your card? OK, if they say a card that you did not see yet, you know that this next card is their card, and from here, you can just drop the pinky break and peel off this card. If they say one of the cards that you did see, you want to do something else so say they say the first card you peeled off. So this this bottom card right here, not the top one. From here, you can just do it double lift and show them their card. And if they say the second card, you peeled off, you can just drop the peaky break and peel off the stop card. So regardless, you will show them the card that they say. Okay. All right, that's all. 4. Ambitious Card Routine: Welcome to the performance for the ambitious Carter team. I'm gonna pretend that the spectator chose the jack of diamonds. Now, this card absolutely loves the spectator. And I'm gonna show you that by getting it lost right into the middle of the deck and I'll go ahead and give the cards a few cuts handle good. Give them a few more cuts just to make sure it's really lost in there. Now it's a spectator just snaps their finger. You can see the card jumps right to the top of the deck. You know, I'm gonna let them hold on to their card and I'll go in and cut the deck and half. I'll let them place it right into the middle of the deck. We'll go ahead and get buried in there Now it's respectively. Just stops the finger. You can see it jumps right back to the top of the deck. Now it jumped all the way through all those cards. It really must really love the spectator. I'm gonna go ahead and take the card. Flip it over now, push it out so you can see that we're really getting it right into the middle of the deck. Don't go out and place it into this packet and no place this entire pocket into this packet . I can just go ahead, get their card lost right into the middle of the day. Now the spectator just snaps a finger. You can see their card jumps right back to the top of the deck. Now, this time we're gonna do something a little bit different. I'm gonna go ahead and bury the card in the middle of the deck. But this time all that the spectator hold onto this packet. And maybe now it will be a little bit harder for the car to jump to the spectator or jump to the top of debt. We're going to get very intimate. The deck on the spectator can just It's not the finger. And as you can see Oh, wait. That's right. This isn't the top of the day. This is the top of the day. As you can see, the car jumped all the way back to the spectator. Welcome to the tutorial. For the ambitious cardio team, this is a very powerful and very visual trick. Now this routine in particular has four parts to it. but you can feel free to shorten it or add to it as much as you want, and you'll see that it's a very modular and customizable trick. Now you're gonna start by having your spectator select the card. So here will be using the nine of diamonds. And what you can do is you can have the spectator sign the card, and this will prevent them from thinking that you're using any duplicates. But if you don't want them to sign the card like you don't want to ruin the card, that's fine, too. So for the first part of this trip, we want to get the Spectators card to the second from top position in the deck, and we're going to start by getting it to the top of the deck, and then we're gonna control it to second from top. Now, the way we're gonna get to the top is using the same exact method that we learned in Joker's Wild. We're gonna put it into the middle of the deck and with our right hand, we're gonna use the fleshy part of our thumb to push down on it and then push it in words and that will give us a thumb break. From here, we can do a double undercut, and now we have their card at the top of the deck. Now, to get it to the second from top, we want to catch a pinky break right above the bottom card of the deck. So I wouldn't do this using your actual, like the fleshy part of your pinky. Instead, use the center part to kind of scrape it down just like that. And from here, you can convert the pinky break into a thumb break, and then you wanna swing. Cut the top packet of the card over to your left hand and you want to place it right underneath where your pinky break iss and now under your actually. Sorry, I meant your thumb break. Now under your thumb break. We have a random card, and then we have the Spectators card right beneath that, And from here we can do another double undercut. And now we control the Spectators card to the second from top position. And now we can have a spectator snap their fingers and we want to catch a double lift. So again, I have a lesson on how to do the double list lift in this clause. But we want to push down on the top two cards, catch our pinky break, and then we want to do a double lift to reveal to the spectator that their card jumped to the top. Now, for the second part of this trick, we can flip over our double lift and give the spectator the top card, which is not actually their card. Then we can cut the cards in half and have the spectator return your card right into the middle of the deck and then we can bury it just like that. And now, if the spectator thought that we did any fancy cuts and cart control to get the car to the top of the in the last part this time, that will be completely debunked. So they will see that we placed it right into the middle of the deck without any fancy counter, any fancy moves, and then we cannot just picked you snap their fingers to reveal that their card is right on top of the deck. Now, that was the second part. Now, for the third part, you don't want to flip the card back over. You want to keep it faced up, and what we want to do is we want to catch a pinky break right above the bottom two cards and the way I do this is, I tell the spectator, Oh, you see, your car jumped all the way to the top of the deck all through all of these cards and in doing this, I give myself an excuse to fan through the cards. Just like that on this Makes it a lot easier for me could catch my pinky break above the bottom two cards. And so again, for the third part before flipping it over, we want to spread through the cards. And then as we collect the cards back up, we want to catch our pinky break right above the bottom to guard. Now, of course, it's not gonna be this big, So you gonna try to get this as small as you can, and from here, you want to convert this binky break into a thumb break, and then you want to cut the cards. You want to do a swing cut with the cards and collect talk packing with your left hand. And when we do right hand while maintaining that thumb break, you want to come over and you want to flip this card over. And now from here, using these two fingers, your middle finger and your ring finger, you want to push this card forward. And as you're pushing the cart forward, you want to drop the two cards right underneath your thumb. Break on top of this card. So again, this is the Spectators card right here, and you want to push it forward. And as you're pushing it forward, you drop those two cards right underneath you dumb break and right, As soon as you drop them, you want to tilt over this packet, and so you're gonna be using your right hand to not only drop these two cards, but also to cover as you turn this packet in your left hand. Now, from here, you can tell a spectator, or you can do it yourself. You can push this card into the middle of the deck, and then you can turn your left hand over. And so what just happened is they saw you very clearly pushed the card out, flip it over and push it right in the middle of the day. Return your right to the top of this packet. Now, of course, there card is now third from the top in this packet. There's two cards above it. Now, from this position, we want to tell the spectator that we're gonna make sure that their card is lost in the middle of the deck. So we're gonna take the top card, place it into the middle of this packet, and then we want to take this entire packet and places in the middle of this packet. So from here, I changed my grip. So I hold the cards like this with my thumb on top of them and these four fingers at the bottom kind of holding the cards on from here. I'm able to easily open these cards up and then placed this entire pocket right in the middle. So the spectator sees me bury their card right into the center of the deck. From here, we can have the spectator snap their finger and we can get the car to jump to the top of the deck. Now what? I just did. There was another pinky break, so I pushed off the top two cards, called my pinky break, and then did a double lift. Now the spectator sees that their card jumped right to the top of the deck. Now, that was 1/3 part of this trip. That was probably the hardest part of the trick. Now, finally, for the fourth part, we're gonna flip over our pinky break again. We're gonna push over the top card, and we're gonna come back here and peel off half off this packet right underneath this top card and place it on top. And then we can tell the spectator that we're gonna give them half off this packet. So half of this top packets, So quarter of the deck, we're gonna give them 1/4 of the deck, and that should make it harder for their car to jump to the top. You can say anything along those lines, and then you can have the spectator push their card into the middle of the deck and snap their fingers. And from here, we can flip over this top card and it's not their card, and we can act as though we messed up or something. But then we can tell them that. Oh, that's right. This is not the top of the deck. This is actually to talk with the doctor packet. That's with you. And then they can flip over this card, and they're gonna be mind blowing because their car just jumped from this packet all the way to this packet. And that was a Ford part of this trick. 5. Double Lift: Okay. Now I'm gonna be teaching you how to do the double lift. So the double lift will be used in a hand sandwich trick as well as a climate changing trick. And it does require you to know how to do a pinky break. Okay, So the first thing you want to do is you want to catch a pinky break beneath the two cards that you want a lift as one. All right. And there's many different ways to catch this pinky break. You could riffle through the cards and catch to above your pinky, or you could push the cards off and square them back up above your pinky. There are, you know, many different ways. Sometimes when I first started, I would approach this spectator with the pinky break already, like already already made. Okay, So after you caught that pinky break beneath the top two cars, okay? Or whatever. Two cards you're trying to lift as one, you want to lift them with your thumb. So I'm holding the pocket in my left hand. You want to bring your right hand over and you want a lift off from this separation? It should be big enough for you to be ableto pick them up. You want a lift it up and you want to twist it with your index finger just like that, and you want to return it on top of your pinky, Okay? And then from here, you can lift them back over and pick up the top card. Okay, So again, here I have the pinky break above the two cards and the way I just that was I pushed off the top two and squared them up above my pinky. I then brought my right hand over and picked up to two cards with my thumb, getting under that separation and twisted the cards with my index finger. Now, from here in the color changing trick, you would just lift off this card. And this would be the double backers in the head Sanders trick. You would then lift it back down and peel off just this top card. All right, That's it.
