1. Introduction to the Course: And it is also a photography is an interesting topic. There are many techniques and many ways to edit your photos. Hi, my name is remarks. Welcome to my course, editing portrait photography in Photoshop. Using Photoshop actions. In this course, we will learn the editing workflow and the techniques used by professional photographers to edit a boardroom photos. To speed up the process I'll be using for us of actions which I have created for you. And you can download in the resource section of the course. So we be editing this photo to this. So without further ado, let's get started. 2. Setting up the Workflow & Action Pack: All right, welcome to the first module where we will set up the environment for the portrait photography editing workflow. First of all, let's install the Photoshop actions, which is provided in this course. You can download on the project's goal Windows, click on Actions, and click on the hamburger menu and load actions. You can be action which is provided with the course for free loads. Here you will see all the actions or which we are going to use in the whole course. The reason that I'm using the actions is to speed up the process. Because in most cases, when we are using, when we're editing for those, especially portrait photos, will be following a same workflow, seem repetitive task. Instead of doing the same thing multiple times or what I have done, I have created this options so that you can follow along with this. It will make your life easier and it will help you to speed up the editing process. The next, make sure you have the Adjustment Layer opened or setup here. So you have Adjustment layer and the actions. Next, click on the Brush, set the opacity to a 100100 and smoothness to a 100. Now, we're all set. Now that we, let's open up the door which we are going to edit. We are all set in the next module. We will be looking at removing blemishes and sports or any other unwanted objects from the photo. 3. Remove Blemishes and Spots: In this module, labor removing blemishes bought or any other unwanted objects from the image. First of all, let me make a copy of this image. Limit i and j, either one or any other meaningful main. Now click on the Adjustment. Click on Black and White Adjustment Layer, make the red all the way up. All the other channels, make them 300s, so red will be minus 200, everything else will be 300. Now that we'll be able to see all those luscious or sports clearly. Let me zoom in and click on the image 001 layer. Select the healing tool, make sure you are under normal mode, content area aware. And now let me set up the brush. The hardness should be 0 and the size matching does pore size. So you can clean up the layer, the sports by going on top of it. Any, any marks that you think is not needed, you will be able to remove it using this tool. Let me zoom in a bowl. And then these more darker spots. Using this spot healing tool, it will be much easier. So I mainly removing the highlighted for a dark areas sports. You can spend more time with it more often it will be more than the small particles. If I see. Yeah, we are, we are done except this part. Here. This is an area which I don't want to show in the image. So let me pick the patch tool or part of it. And then we can patch it to remove the Photoshop below its magic. Then done. So and to remove the adjustment layer. This is before, and this is after. I can also edit a little bit more. I think it would be nicer if I remove here. So you can spend more time on it. The more you edit the better. Image b. I's you feel good. Let me check the before and after. Yes. So we are done with the editing, which is removing the blemishes and sparks or any other unwanted arch in the image. On the next module, we'll be looking at frequency separation. 4. Frequency Separation: Frequency separation is a technique used to smoothness Kim, without losing the texture of the skin, we can remove wrinkles or any other marks on the skin. So since we have done with this adjustment layer, I'm gonna delete it. So select the image, go to action. And I have created three actions for frequencies operations. If you're using an 8-bit image, you can use this. Otherwise you can use either of these. I will show you how to use the cohesion lower frequency separation technique. Select this and hit play. It will ask you to pop up a window asking you to add the blur radius. So I will select 8.5. Basically, you need to make sure it will be smaller than the whole skin. I can zoom out and show you whether it will not show the marks the skin should be even. Select. Okay. And then there you go. It's created the layers. What it does, it separates the smoothness and the sharpness of the skin. So if I remove it, this is the smoothness. And if I show the high frequency it is, this area is the sharpness. So I just did the same as the previous image. That is no different. Here you go and select the loc frequency, and then select the Lasso Tool. Make sure you abided. Further value of like 15 or ten. You can test that. I'll zoom in. Select lesser. Select an area where you want to smooth and not to sharpen. Filter, blur, cohesion, love. Select a value, maybe a 0.5, looks good for me. Or maybe nine. That's fine and smooth skin. So I just have to repeat the same task on different areas of the skin is to smooth them so you can select a larger area. Even our area. We just very slight adjustment. We don't need to. And the effect I will surely affect the skin or when the skin. I think that's good enough, in my opinion. Okay. Show you a before and after. This is before, and this is often very subtle change. Now I select the high frequency. You have to select a pool to sharpen the area of the skin. So the best one is to sharpen tools, syllabi sharpened tool, just alluded. You want maybe I will select lakes 70, I guess, and then simply go get the right size of the brush and sharp. And so I think the ellipse area should be sharpened. Too much. Area. I can maybe I can just reduce it to 58. Guess 50 would be fine. And you can always draw multiple times on the same area, so it will add the effect multiple times. So I can go and select the areas that I want to sharpen. And then let me get the sharpened to sharpen a bit more of the buttons. That looks good. So this is before and after. You can always changing the opacity of the group or make it 0 to completely remove it. Or you can adjust your capacity. Or you can add a Layer Mask here and then paint on top of it to remove or add the value. Basically, select control, shift out. And if you create a stamp of the complete images or a stamp of the complete all changes that we have done here. And then I don't need these images, these changes anymore. I will just go and hide it. This is before and this is after, before. And these are amazing. So in the next one, we will learn Dodge and blurred. 5. Dodge and Burn: In this lesson, let's use Dodge and blur. Using the action script I have created for you. Select the daughter-in-law maker. You selected the final layer. Click. Run. Here, you're adding more light to the image. So let me just add more cert. Okay, that is the Lyle. And here we can add more darkness to the image. And I'm just stuck in this area. I'm just checking on this area if it is darker than the tattoo and everything looks good for me. This layer has selected all the light, increases the light on this area, and then here it is, increase the darkness of the image. So if I select option or shift click, it will show you how much light effects has added. And I'm adding this photo of the delayers. Select the torch light layers, right-click and click blend option. Go to the underlying layer under blending option and select it. And drag it to to an area where you will see it has affected only the lighter part of the image. So this is basically you are selecting your adding this light effect only to the lighter part of the skin. So here, if I can show you, the area will be effected. This area will not be effected. And then I just have to smoothen or even it out by selecting and select. Breaking. This controller is Italy. I'll add more smooth ended up. Looks good to me. Through you look good to me. Let me remove the lighter area so it will this is how it's going to look. So this is before and this is after. Now that I will. And Heidi mask, selected brush tool, usual one, general branch, soft round brush. If you're using a tablet, you can use a pressure opacity brush, brush and hardness as to be 0. Make sure you have capacity around 50. Floor and smoothness. You can change the stone or two ones and I'll make it like 100 for you to see the whole effect. Go to an area or you wanted to paint at more shyness to the skin. So let me paint on top of it. Make sure you are selected the mosque and let me paint. So I'm just adding more shine light through the lips area, the cheek as well, or back. And this is before, and this is after all always you can change the opacity. Or you can go and edit again to remove or add these brightness. So for example, if I select the brush tool and then pick x on the keyboard to switch to black. Color. Zooming I can paint will remove the shining effect. So if I, again, if I press X and I can paint back, so basically what I would do, I just painted remove it and then get the capacity down. Add white painted path before and after. Now let's select the dark layer Heidi mask. Right click or double-click on the blending option. Go to blending option and underlying layers. Select the slider and drag it to the left side, where you can see it will select only the darkest area of the image. Now slide or you just have to break it to smoothen the area. I think this looks good for me. Select OK, shift, unhide the masks, select the mass, get the brush. My figure on the white color. You have selected the white color and you are on the right mosque. Let me go there. And I will paint on top of the skin where the area that I need, I feel like I need to darken. If you paint multiple times into multiple terms. Now let us see how it looks before and after. This is before. And this is after. Raising. On the next lesson, we will use liquefied tool to adjust the image a bit more so that it will look much better. 6. Body Shaping with Liquify: Welcome back. Let me make a stamp copy of this. I would usually unselect everything and I'll select Shift Control Alt and eat it, you make a fresh copy of it. I do not need all these layers, so I will group them and hide them. So I can see before and after. Now, let me select this layer lightly and Convert to Smart Object. The reason that I can warn this layer to smart objects so that if I add any filters, such as liquefy filter, it will not chop or destroy the image. It will actually add sub layer to another sub effect to it so that even if you don't want, We can just unhide to move or even Add Layer Mask or anything to it. So let me select it, go to Filter liquify. So I am just showing the capability of the tool, but you can always use this tool, all these tool to add more effect to your image. It depends on what exactly you want. So I think I have selected this layer. I think I just can trade in a bit. Lazy is fine. Just make the ellipse with smaller and smaller. That's what's good for me. Effective enough. I guess this is before the disaster. But as I told you, if you create a smart filter, so you can always remove it for added or even you can add a Layer Mask. It is actually a muscle you can paint on top of it if you don't want any effect. On the next lesson, we will look at adding extra detail to the image. 7. Adding Hair & Detailing the Image: In this lesson, let's add more details to the image. So I'm just showing the basic idea of adding tilt the image. You can always use the skill that you have in Photoshop to add more or enhance your image or treat more. Alright, so let's start with adding hair. So it's pretty cool. Select the brush. Let me make a copy of it, a complete copy, just so that we can show you a complete before and after. And I will add an empty layer to it. Select the brush tool. Let me select the brush. If like good that I'm using rounded corner brush, I will select the rounded corner prophesized branch. You can select if you don't have a tablet, you can use these pressures or you can use any brush templates that you have. You can download from the internet for free. Or there are brushes. But I'll be using simply soft pressurized brass. Or you can use a soft brush who should be smaller than that of a peak. Use the color picker tool. With the color, get the brush. I can maintain, reduce the opacity. So you can just paint on top of that. Just paint like our natural log. So this is before and after me and zoom out. Go here. Select the color picker tools, then select the brush. And then I can paint. If you have. I can add one more layer so that I can have more controlling this area before and after. So I'm just showing you the possibility of adding extra effects to the image. No, look me in the hands. The whiteness of the peat and I will select No, just one clear. We'll do Adjustment Layer and just increase. Let's go here. Select control. I make it completely black. Make sure you are selected the white color. Select the brush. Increase the brush size to this, then I can go and pain inside. So likely. Yeah, it was good for me. Thanks. What's good for me? And I think this area, select, do not like this. How it looks, this trend. More. Here. This area, the brush, looks good. Okay, that we make and gain a clone stamp profit control, shift control. And we do not even all these layers before and after meeting. So we are almost done. 8. Eye Retouching: On the previous module, we looked at whitening the teeth and adding more hair to the model. In this module, we will be looking at enhancing the eye area. I am using this photo. Since the previous photo, the model was reading machine for the action. Make sure you select the final layer. This action I renamed as it was in the beginning previously it was muddy, shining to stuff the same job. I just renamed it so that you will not have any layers, will not have any conflicts once you are running the actual silica action quickly. So make it brighter so that you will be able to see this area and this area. Select OK. And then for the dark layer, darken it so that it will darken the islands. Click okay. So it has created a layer for you. The actions. This is the light and the dark. Select the light. Loom in, get the brush. You can get barraged. Soft brush, make the opacity to you can make it all like 7074 AD around 80, increase the brush size. And then you can paint on top of it. We can introduce the various size as when you're going in. You can paint on top of it and paint on the eye as well. Make sure you have selected right color. Now switch back to black and then you can remove any pains, ANY brushstrokes. Winter in this area. Now, go back and again, make it right. Reduce the opacity a bit more and then faint in this, you gain weight and you can lighten the SS area. Looks good. Go to the dark layer. Paint in the middle and then I will reduce the breast size and rain on top of it. Just to get this black line. Perfect. And go back. This is before, and this is after. Get the light. I can reduce a bit since before. And this is after where we're not done yet. Zooming in to the I, create a new layer, name ID and name it black lines. We'll zoom in. Select a brush. You can make it smaller. Select Color, and then you can draw lines. You better increase the opacity to a 100 and make sure everything is a 100. Then you can draw lines here. Also in the other eye. And I'm only showing you the techniques, used these techniques and take your time and then you can enhance the i, give it another all create another layer and make it white lines. Switch back to white collar. And now draw lines here. And between those who are blind. Great for zoom back. It will look like this. So select the black lines, are actually select the white lines and we can reduce the opacity and chain the layer, the Blending Mode to soft. Now, you can adjust the opacity needed. Black line, reduce the opacity. Turn amount where it will change. Now if you zoom out, group them. Now this is before and after. So it gives you a subtle change. So this is how we can edit the enhanced the eye of your subject. 9. Skin Toning: Let's add more skin tone to your image. Select the image, go to Actions. Qin toning actions. Run it. So it will add you an adjustment layer with a skin tone which have customized now that you can reduce the opacity to an amount that you feel good. I can reduce it to like five. And see this is before, after. If I increase it, the max. But you can always adjust the amount of skin tone which will effect before and after. It's based on skin color. Let me make again a clone or a stamp clone, stamp Control Alt E. You do not need all these layers are related to the dilute them. We are actually done the whole image, editing the whole complete portrait image of you from scratch. So this was before how all the sports blemishes and then wrinkles and some objects behind the image there. And the edited up to this where we have removed all of these things and it's shined image. Your portrait image. I'd add more detail to it. I had more hair, more skin texture, remove blemishes and sports or any other, to any other part, unwanted areas of the, of the image. So perfect. So this is it guys. So hopefully you have learned how to edit your portrayed image using the actions which I have provided for you and the Wolf Law, which I've told you, amazing guys. I hope you enjoy this course and I would love to see your edit TBI shot and here in the discussion. Thank you so much. See you next time.
