1. Intro: Hey everyone, My name is Amy and I love photography. In this Skillshare class, I'll teach you how to do skin retouching using Photoshop and also how to do it in your mobile phone as well. You need to have some basic knowledge on how to use brushes and layers in Photoshop. But if you don't have Photoshop or you don't know how to use it. Don't worry. I also teach you how to do skin retouching using your mobile phone. By the end of this class, you'll be able to do skin retouching in Photoshop and also in your mobile phone. So without wasting any time, let's get started. 2. Skin Retouching in Photoshop part 1: Before we get started, I just want to tell you some basic things. I am using the latest version of Photoshop, but you can use this technique on any version of Photoshop. So the technique that you're going to use is called frequency separation technique. There are other techniques to what I consider this as the most easy and effective skin retouching technique. So this is the image we will be working on. You can download this image from the description. We're going to clear all these ports from his face. So first, either make a copy of the layer by using the shortcut key Control plus j. And either rename this layer, as I would recommend you to name your layers, it just make your work easier. Now, after creating a copy of the layer, go to Filter and then Blur. Gaussian Blur. Drag the radius to the bind, the way to hide all of the sports and pause. Now, make another copy of the background layer and place it over the blur layer and name it as texture. Now, select the texture layer and go to Image, then apply image. And now you need to make some changes. First, change the layer to blur or whatever you have named it. Then change the blending mode to subtract. Also, make sure that the scale is two and the offset is 128. Click, Okay. It looks really bad. But don't worry, just seems the blending mode of the layer to linear light. You will notice that we get our original image back like nothing happened. And just wait for a minute. Now, right-click on the blurred layer and convert it to a smart object. Again, go to filter blur and select caution PLR. Now you will notice that this time there is a bit of texture on the skin and not the whole face is blurred out. Radius, according to your convenience, just make sure you don't overdo it. I'm choosing six and click, Okay. Now, select the smart filter we just applied and press Control I. This will invert this fact. Now, go and choose the brush tool. The shortcut of fit is BK, and change the foreground color to white. Here's a tip for you. Praise be to make the foreground and the background color to default black and white. And then press X to toggle between the white and the black color. So now choosing wide as your foreground color, start brushing over the areas where you want to make this smooth on the bracket keys to increase or decrease the process. Just painted over his face. If we wanted to see the before and after, just hold the Alt key or the Option key if you're using Mac. And while holding the key, click on this button in front of the background layer. And this is how you can see the before and after. 3. Skin Retouching in Photoshop part 2: We have done the retouching of the face, but the face is still looking very blurry. So now we will add some texture to his face. And it's very easy. Just make another copy of this layer if you want. Well, I always make a copy, but it's up to you. And then select the layer and go to Filter other and high-pass. Here, we just have to change the radius. And in most cases you just have to drag this between 0 to two and not more than that to bring the texture on the skin. And in my case, it's 1.1. Press Okay. After that, change the blending mode of the layer to linear light. Now you can see the texture on the skin, but we just have to apply this filter on some particular areas and not on the complete image. To do that, first, create a mask of this layer by clicking on this icon. After that, select the masking layer and press Control I to invert the mask. And again, choose the brush tool, make the foreground color white and start wishing it on areas where we applied the smoothness. As you can see, the intensity of the filter is too much, but don't worry, we will adjust it later. So once you're done with the brush, go to the opacity slider and change the opacity of this filter according to your liking. So this is the before and the after. This is how you can read, does this game using frequency separation technique. So that's it for this video, and I'll see you in the next one. 4. Skin Retouching in Photoshop part 3: Now we have done this mood need part. Let's remove the spots from his face. First, we will merge these layers. And how you do is select both layers by holding the Control key or command key on Mac. And once you have selected the layers, right-click on any one of the layer and click on Merge layers. Now we have a new layer and make sure to make a copy of this layer so that in the future, if you made a mistake, then you will always have a backup layer. Now, we will select the healing brush tool or you can use the Spot Healing Brush Tool is Val if you want, it's up to you. And we'll start removing these parts. I'm not going to explain you everything about this. Do I just want to focus on skinny dodging in this video. Once you are done, you can check the before and after I go into about that, just hold the art. And the Ibadan. 5. Skin Retouching using Mobile: In the previous video, we saw how to scale retouching in Photoshop. And this video, we will learn how to skin retouching using a mobile phone. Well, it's not that effective as in Photoshop, but still you can get some pretty good results. So the app I will be using is Snapseed. So let's open Snapseed. So there is a tool in Snapseed. I don't know if you guys know about it. It's called the portrait to this is the tool that we're going to use. First, we'll reset all the settings to 0. Now, we need to make his skins mode. So we will drag this slider till we get the desired results. Okay? Now we will remove the spores from his face using the healing brush tool. This tool works just like the Healing Brush Tool in Photoshop. I recommend you guys to Zoom as much as you can while using this tool to get the best results. This is the before and this is the after. So that's it for this video.
