1. Pop Art - Tutorial Demo: Hey there good people from around the world while come to me for a shop tutorial with PSD Box to definitely know how to create this pop artifact in for shop, using filters on layers and masks and selections and all that kind of stuff. It's not a difficult tutorial. I would say. It's an intermediate level, and you have everything that you need for this. On the resource is folder. Just let you know you can download these be as the file for free. You don't have to be a member for that. You can. Only from resource is the PSD box that come so you can see how it made this. And as I said on the resource is folder, you'll find everything that you need to follow with along with this tutorial. So I'm using for Shop CC 2018. But you can do this in any for subversion. CS would be recommended, and if you have C c even better for some of the things that we're gonna do. But if your experience with photo shop you can do it in pretty much any forceful version, these are the layers, and this is the final effect. Let me show the original image again. We're gonna go from this, do this. So have you enjoy it and let's get started. So we're gonna start with our portrait here. I'm not going to spend time the leading the background. It's really easy the magic wand or quick selection and just delete the background. I'm gonna grab my image from here on. Move it to the campus right up here and we're done. Let me I'm gonna share the mask that I have, but it's it's fun. I had a lot of fun making this effect, and actually, I I made this effect because I saw a tunnel on a graffiti on a wall and the effect is exactly the same as I saw there. So I saw it on a photograph. So that's how I created this one. Let's name this, um, car for right and create a new one. I'm gonna go fast forward here. Did there. Maybe I could create some more lines here, like so but anyways, so this is how it looks like that gloss there on the lips, I think gives them more volume and looks a bit better. But I'm not a really good illustrator or painter, so I would probably I could probably do more. But I'm limited by my knowledge, so that's pretty much it. Let's create some final adjustments and we're done. The first adjustment that I created use that color Look up actually used three color look upset. Selective color. If you don't have four shops, you see you will not be able. Teoh CIA. Six. You will not be able to have this because prior to see a six color look up was not existent in full shop, and I use the couple car main and set the the capacity to 40 and the blend mode too soft light on. Check that out. See how changes the colors, that blue tonal background, then another color look up. I use the crisp, warm No Chris Point Chris Blam Normal at 30%. This give more warm, especially on the portrait and then another color. Look up with crisp winter, and we said on normal at 25% if it's too blue, you can leave it even lower 15 or 20 or something like that, and this gives the final punch to this image. Check it out before and after. And I used another adjustment, which is a selective color. And I changed the scions a bit. You can control the look of those scions, given the values I used 17 14 minus 22 14 to add more darkness. But baby, to be too dark and maybe to yellowish to bluish, so I'm gonna live it there. 2. It's really easy the magic wand or quick selection and just delete the background. I'm gonna grab my image from here on. Move it to the campus right up here and we're done. Let me I'm gonna share the mask that I have put on full screen. You can see how it looks like. It's a horrible mask, really quickly made. But you have time to do it more precisely. But precision is not really that important in this kind of effects. So just do your best and that's it. Let's create the background. And I'm going to start with this two images and initially used this one without any kind of other texture. But for the tour, I'm gonna change it. So I'm going to use this image. Let's put it under our portrait. So I'm gonna put it right here, and I'm gonna blurry because I don't like this brick texture. If you like it, you can leave is like living like that. But I'm gonna add the brick texture myself at the end if I see I want to have it. But I want to choose that myself. I'm gonna blur this to Gaussian Blur. That's but to make her a bit away. 70 pixels. It's OK. I just need the collar use levels to brighten up this just a little. And I'm gonna use this one. This sexual is I think I got them from on splash dot com. I use a lot of images from there Ready images, high resolution, and you don't have to give credit, But, um, you should always when you can I'm gonna diss, saturate this image shift, command you or shift control you to saturate and change the blend mode to multiply. I'm gonna move this a bit higher upside. I have more texture there and probably gonna use the levels again with control l just to increased contrast. And I wanna have a bit more like on the centre's. I'm gonna use a radiant can when he's a radio one, and I'm gonna use black to white and I'm gonna reverse it and increase the skill just a little like that. About 144 1 45 or something like that and change the alignment to overlay now have to drop the opacity a little to about 50%. I just want to focus the light of it there on the center. Now let's start creating the effect itself. First, let's group this So I called them control G on the meat BG for background. Now, for this first layer, which is my portrait, I will add a curves adjustment craters adjustment. And instead of give you the values that I have here, I created the presets. So just go on the top right here. You'll find a man you like this on awful shall version. It's somewhere here and choose load curves preset and inside the resource is fully or find this file which says, curve the A C V, open it. And this is the curve that I have. No, you have to clip this to to the walk to the portrait because we don't need that on the background and also what you I'm not gonna clip it. I'm just gonna Yeah, I'm gonna call me this letter mosque to it. but we still need to remove the effect from the hair from the glasses, lips and her beginning here. So I'm gonna get get the brush to paint with black opacity and flow 100%. I'm going to use a hard brush. I just start painting over the hair over here. I'm gonna go quick here. And this is the mask that I got. Okay, So just remove the effect from from those areas over there. Dont forget the the eyeglass. The while the Yeah, the glasses there. And next we're gonna add a hue saturation adjustment letter. And here I'm gonna change the master on the master if you do 1 41 And this is what gives me that collar for the skin. Initially, I made it the opposite way. So first I added this and then I saw that I need to have more contrast on the skin and that's when I created the curves. But for the dural with it this way. Now I'm gonna all clean the litter mosque and carpet on the Dubler and well, that's how you got this effect. The next thing we want to do is change the color off the off the glasses you can create. Watch it. We're going to create a hue saturation, Adjust, Miller, and you can use this same later mosque. Or you can use a black clear mosque and then just paint with a brush over the the glass itself. Not not the glass, but this amount here. But what I'm gonna do is something that bit easier. Uh, it's not the best, but it works. I'm gonna use the collar range, and I'm gonna zoom in and I'm just going to change the preview to Black And why make no black mate And I'm just gonna shift quick to add areas to my selection on this. That looks nice. I think Click OK, And we have our layer mosque. I'm gonna put on full screen by all clicking on it. And with the brush, I'm gonna get rid of the areas that I don't need just being with black. But I just want to deactivate a transfer. I don't need it. So just remove areas from there you don't need. You have to be more careful. You can use the refined edge if you want. I'm not gonna do it because it's as I said, I just wanna share the steps Selection, Andi, the rest of the things that have here it's pretty. That's up to you. You can do it. But I don't want to make that the tutorial too long. So, um, let's check colorize here, and I'm gonna give you the values. 338 for Hugh Saturation 63 here with the brush, I have to fix the Sarah paint with white to include this area over there. Hopes makes you don't pain too much over the hair. It's not gonna be that visible, but makes you don't paint over the hair because you have lots of areas here which are not really well painted. But when making an effect like this is not read that crucial to have being point accuracy on the selections because we're gonna apply filters and it's not gonna be visible. But do your best now with the glasses. I'm gonna create a curves or levels. I think I use curves. Yes, and I'm gonna copy this later Mosque of the glasses to the curves and the changes. I'm gonna give you the values that I have for the points I have three points, one with input 108 and output 99. Another point with input 1 55 and output 1 93 and another one with input 1 90 output 223. So this increases the contrast on the glasses and makes them more glassy. As you can see, this is the caravan without and with the curve. Great. Now the next thing we're gonna do it is deep in the shadows of it. So the effect itself, it's pretty much over. We just need to create the glasses there on apply the filters. But let's create a new lor on bond an empty later, and I'm gonna put it on overly. I'm gonna get the brush tool. I will send your passages 20 and the float to 50 and the flow to 20. I'm gonna check the transfer because I had a plan. And with the depend pressure, I will decrease the heart, Nestor zero and increase the brush size of it. And I would have been with black so, uh, passivity and flow 50 and 20 and just paint over the shadows a bit, just like a sort of a sort of dodging and burning, but just for the shadows. And the reason why I'm doing this is because I think it looks a bit flat, even with those curves that I created. So I just want to separate the shadow area from the rest of the image. That's too much. If you don't have the pen on, you know you cannot apply the pan pressure just dropped capacity to half while use half of these values, and that's it, and that's pretty much it. I think it's gonna look OK, but there's here but on a finger. Okay, check it out before and after. Maybe a bit here. Well, great. So we're done with that. It's and let's start applying the fielders. Now. I use the oil pain filter. I don't know if I can do it here, because sometimes on photo shop CC, I cannot use it. I don't know why, so I have to use CS six. Let's hope that letting let me do it. But first I have to press all shift command e or control all shift E. This is to merge everything onto a new layer, and now I'm going to filter style eyes and choose oil paint and see if it works on. I'm gonna increase the cleanliness. Onda stylization. If you don't have the oil pain fielder, it's because maybe you're using full shops. CC 2015 on in Diversion I think they remove the then they included in other in the following versions. Make sure the activate lightning or shine or whatever option you have there. It's an option that gives you check it out. It's going to give you this effect, which we're not looking for. So the activate shine or lightning or whatever you have there, the scale economy to whatever you want. Bristle little set to zero and increase the detail. Quite a lot been assuming so you can see how it looks like. So you wanna add a decent amount of a fact there and click. OK, now, next we're gonna create a copy of this with control J. You can see now that the edges are pretty much invisible, so you cannot tell here I paint too much, but you cannot tell the difference. So that's why it's elections are not re important in terms of accuracy. Now, with that letter, I duplicated it. Now I'm gonna go to filter and choose filter gallery. The filters that I'm gonna play here are available in all four shall versions. And as you can see, I already have this year. But yeah, let's go again. So all you need to dio first delete that you just create two wears First, choose past poster edges and used the settings to one and two and then create a new layer clicking this I can hear on the bottom. This will create a new layer and on the new layer used the cut out here. They're both in the artistic in the artistic folder and used the settings 54 and three and that's it. Just click. OK, Andi, for some reason, I think it looks too dark. I don't know if that's supposed to be like that, but anyways and now use on a passage off 50%. So just drop capacity to 50% on next. Create a copy of that off this layer off the one that we applied filter gallery leave the opacity to 100% and goto filter and used the oil. Plainfield's there again so stylized oil paint. But this time we're gonna use less amount. So let's wait for it to open. Uh, where to use less amount? About three and three or something like that. Just did change a bit. The lines there and now it looks like it's painted. Just look like an illustration. And here I'm gonna drop capacity again. Do 50%. Something is not looking right. Let me check the original. The problem was with the oil paint filters. I'm going to repeat the process of applying for here from stylized the oil paint filter. I should have used a higher value here. I think I'm gonna use almost to the max so something like that and click. OK, now duplicate that. Where would control J I'm gonna add a bit of light here. Like that. Control J to copy it on goto filter, filter gallery and again, poster, even. See? It's the same poster edges. Now, now it looks like better. The glasses would not looking right. And that's what that was. Because I did not apply enough enough oil pain feels the effects. Now I'm gonna duplicate this layer with control J. And on one of them, I'm gonna put normal at 50% and on the top one. I'm gonna ply the filter, the oil paint filter again stylized oil paint. And, of course, here I'm going to use last amount like that Quick. Okay, This part over here, you can see it's not looking close to what I have here, and that's probably cause I paint it too much shadow. And when I apply the yeah, when I have lied the the filter gallery that was not looking nice. So I would probably get rid of that on that I'm gonna be like that. But anyways, that's how I got this. This effect, The opacity of these ones should be to 50% as well. So both layers on 50%. Okay, we're pretty much done. The next thing we want to do is create the glasses themselves. So for that one occurred the new letter. And when you use the pen, Tal makes you have the set to path to shape instead, off path and I'm gonna use yellow color. We're gonna change it after we're done and just draw your path like that. So there is some manual work here is not all automatic, but it's it's fun. I had a lot of fun making this effect. And actually, I I may be the phone because I saw her tonner on a graffiti on a wall. And the effect is exactly the same as I saw there, so I saw it on a photograph. So that's how I created this one. Let's name this car for right and create a new one. And I'm gonna go fast forward here. Number one in the spell for left. Okay, Now I'm gonna change the color of them. I can give you the color value that I have on the original. Let me check out that color. It's this one f A c 610. I'm gonna use the same value here and on the other one as well. And now let's add some later styles. I'm gonna start with the rise and then copy to the left here. If you have four shops, etc. Will work will be great. But if you have other versions, you'll have some more work. Because you I need I need three inner shadows here to create this effect. So first, let's check Great and overly black to white said, Oh, let's see a soft light angle minus 93 degrees scale 101 100% and style Linear. This is just a great a bit more of shape here and that I used in the shadows You can see the values that I have the 1st 1 it has this color for e 331 F and angle, 32 degrees. Distance 70 picks 17 pixels, choke zero and size zero and it creates this top shadow. Check it out. Then I used another one to create an inner hot lower highlight here highly on the bottom. And I use the color. Uh, let's see that one. This one, I use the color be three a to 50 set on overly capacity 100% angle minus 100 seized, six degrees distance 11 choke seven and size zero and you get this highlight on the bottom . And then I used the general inner shadow to create a shadow from all sides. And I use the color 774837 set on linear light capacity 100% on and angle 86 degrees distance, 13 pixels choke seven and size 46 pixels. And you get this soft shadows this off self shadow around the edges. Now, this is the style that I use for this. If you don't, if you cannot add this this amount of If you're gonna add multiple inner shadows, what you have to do is add one. Then go here. Right Click on the effects. Choose create layers, go back, create the 2nd 1 With this settings, we go okay, right click create layers and then go back and create the 3rd 1 And that's how you do it. That's why if you have four shops, the seeds are easier because you can add multiple effects. Now I'm going to copy this effect. I'm gonna all creek this FX icon and drag it on top of the L. This will copy it with the same exact settings, which is okay and that we have to create the reflections. So I'm gonna open another stock image to the right that I found there on on splash dot com . And it is an image. But you wanna have highlights and dark backgrounds. And this image is perfect because we have lots of reflections, highlights and the background. Overall, it's pretty dark That way we can use the screen blend months I'm gonna base in between here on a clip it with old and clicking that between the layers and I wouldn't make it half the size of with control T I can believe that and choose 50% to make the image smaller because it was too big. And now, when I move it with the wiki right over there, I'm gonna change the blend mode to screen now and you'll see it looks like magic creates the affection. And that was just a matter of finding. Yeah, I think this bending stuff here it's actually a reflection from the car hitting that looks nice. And put it right there. Animated copy. Duplicate this layer with all clicking, dragging on top of the Allaire Clearly all present alky and between the two layers and clip it. I'm gonna move it a bit because I don't want to have the same reflection on both. So I'm gonna find some other areas here for this reflection. Yeah, there on. That's how you create the reflections like this. And that's how it looks like. So, um, we're pretty much done. The next thing I don't want to do is put the new layer and put it on overly because I wanted in hands the highlights. So with the brush capacity of flow the same as before 15. 20 and paint with white over here, there may be some more on the reflections on dhere. Um, I made a mistake there, painting too much shadow. And that's why it looks that bad. We don't have that line there, but you can paint it manually with the brush. Actually, let's do that. Um, doesn't want to fix that pain with black on check. The transfer is okay just to create that line there. I'm not a good painter, so but And it was I think it looks better now. And on this layer that I created, I'm gonna switch back toe wide 15 20 and just being some highlights there, remember, we are overlay, so it's gonna bland with the colors that you already have there on on the fury thing. That's enough. The amount that I painted there, Maybe I could create some more lines here, like so But anyways, so this is how it looks like that gloss there on the lips, I think, gives them more volume and looks a bit better, but I'm not really good illustrator or painter, so I would probably I could probably do more. But I'm limited by my knowledge, so that's pretty much it. Let's create some final adjustments and we're done. The first adjustment that I created use that color look up actually used three color look upset. Selective color. If you don't have four shops, you see you will not be able. Teoh CIA. Six. You will not be able to have this because prior to see a six color look up was not existent in photo shop, and I use the couple car main and set the the capacity to 40 and the blend mode too soft light on. But baby, to be too dark and maybe to yellowish to bluish. So I'm gonna live it there. Okay, before and after. Great. And we're done. I use camera raw as well at the end, but I don't think it's necessary. You can add a texture If you want to recover that brick wall texture, you can do it. I have. You'll have. Ah, you'll find that this texture here in the resource is fuller. And I got it from deposit photos that call this one and the portrait I purchased from the deposit photos are come have a really off a nice offer on $11 for one image, and I got that 30 images plan and I got this texture from there. So I'm gonna set it on multiply, and this is how it looks like if it's too dark, use levels. What curves levels. It's easier flippant and simply just increased a bit. Mid tones on dark and the dark in the shadows like that. And you get this texture effect on the image and looks like it's painting on the wall. Pretty cheap brick wall effect Anyways, that's how I created this manipulation while this pope artifact This poor to the fact, however you want to call it I hope you enjoyed it. I will really like to see how you apply it on your own images and see the results that you got with different colors and different effects. And that's all for my Sorry. If you upload it on Instagram, you can use the hashtag PSD box so I can see what you do from time to time. I just search for that hashtag so I can see what people do with editorials. But I always hope you enjoyed it on. We'll see you next time
