Project Description

Master Your Color Correction

Upload your final retouched photo using the Color Correction tools you learned.

  • Know the difference between the right tools and the bad tools. There are useful tools, and there are useless tools. The bad tools are the ones you may have, or will, hear about. I just want to show you up front, how bad they really are. Avoid them.
  • Adjustment Tools and Adjustment Layers make for non-destructive editing. This retouching session will show you the importance of working non-destructively especially during do-overs.
  • Selective Color can account for 98% of your color changes. It will let you work in the RGB color model, with CMYK color corrections. On the other hand, use Levels and Curves for making tonal changes on your images.

A finished project should include:

  • Your final image
  • Your original image
  • A brief summary of your process and what you’ve learned

When you are ready for a bigger challenge, you can pick an image where you need to flip around the light sky or balance out an image. This will require Camera Raw, Local Adjustments, and several Adjustment Layers with Masks in order to achieve successfully. Don’t be afraid to practice and experiment to improve your own skills.

Up next is the Basic 1 – Retouching Images class to keep you going through the whole course HERE:

Good luck, and I’ll see you in my class.
