1. Introduction to The Class: Hello, everyone. My name is Mark GeneCo's and I am professional recapture and photo shop educator with seven years of experience. So in the daily basis I spend a lot of time with for the shop in front of my computer and it in fashion and beauty images. But one thing that I really love is taking images off my family, taken images off my friends off landscapes, cities and what I want to make sure is how to edit them, right? I want to make sure they look beautiful, and I decided to make the course to help people justice me two people who love to take images. So if you like to take images off your family, if your photographer who take family images, lifestyle images and you want to make sure that your images look perfect, this short course is great for you. Let me explain why? Because in this course I show you how to edit images fast in camera and father shop, so you'll know everything you need to know about adjustment layers about how to clean up the image. But what's the best part of this course? I give you my own actions that help you to speak up. Your work for this actions is frequency separation actions for smoothing out the skin for sharpening the image. And accept that I'm giving you color lots so you can apply your favorite warm effect to your image within seconds. And because of that, you will know how to create beautiful images in no time. So if the images you see right now on your skins is something you like, you think you want to know how to create this kind of images. Let's jump to the first lesson. 2. Start with Camera Raw: when we want to edit our images. My recommendation is to start with camera or like from it allows you to develop lights and colors and prepare your image for good editing in father shop. So I am going to start with camera, and right now I am looking at the images in my bridge. If you are very beginner and you don't know one thing bridge is this is the planning. In front of shop, you can just open for the shop goto file browsing bridge and then search through the folders. Where is located your images. And then you can easily view your images in the preview and see all of the information, some of them and it's really easy toe open this in camera after. So I am going to choose images from the same set. So I'm choosing similar images. I'm holding command or control. Selecting all of them was that selected? I'm going toe open them in camera, so control he tried and open in camera once again doesn't matter of its row foul or J pic file. If the image is not ready, this is the good way toe. Prepare the image and I'm not going to bore you and explain to you all camera, but I'm going to talk about most crucial think what to do to make image look good. And we always start with the basic panel. So just one image and for example, I can see this image is a little too dark, so I'm going to increase the exposure, then highlights legal too strong, dragging it down shadows. I want them up a little. Beat white, black Not always but similar to highlights and shadows, so you can also manipulate a little bit with this below. We have clarity, so if you want to apply some clarity to the image, but this is not something you want to do and this very beginning the same with the haze. If you want to add hates or not, this is not something related toe these sort off portrait images. But then we have vibrance and saturation. Both of them allows you to add some of the saturation vibrance, as you can see, preserve the oranges so it will not add or take away full of the saturation from orange colors. And then saturation just saturates everything. 100%. I'm going to kill this, uh, this moment, maybe on in just a little bit of contrast. And also on the top, we have something like the temperature. It's not something you have to add at the very beginning, because if in most of the cases your white balance might be set to auto so the image will look just right. But it allows you to make the image warmer or at some thinking, today image. I really feel my mattress was correct. So maybe just a little bit off temperature to this image. But except that I am happy. So this is the first panel. Then we have curve adjustment layer. We have Parametric with allows US toe manipulate on the highlights with the slider, whether toe increase or decrease the highlights. Lights dogs for shadows on. This is not something I work here. I preferred the curve adjustment layer and forth shop later on here. What's most important? You want to prepare the image to make it clean for later adity so also become medical it with the curve over here. Next panel is sharpening and sharpening is the step that we do at the end and then we have finally hue saturation elements that allows us to manipulate with the saturation off certain color, luminous off certain color or hue off the certain color. So, for example, we want to increase some of the saturation for the color green. We can just increase the slider. Want to increase some ruminants for the color green? We can also do this. Maybe I'm going to add some saturation form agendas for the dress here. Andi. It'll beat for oranges, yellows blue. We don't have blue, but some other image have blue color. So I'm already thinking about this and they down some luminous for the blue. So as the last step I'm skipping next panels. Such a split turning on. This is part of the color grading that we can do anti very end and I'm going down to the calibration and in the calibration, we can increase the saturation off each channel, RGB or you, so I'm increasing the saturation in each of them. So thanks today's my image can be very punchy. We can press, speak to see before and after. So my image has a lot off light now is very pleasing to look at a very warm If you have been eating and you want to read dance this, you can use post from finishing in the effects panel and reduce or increasing getting. I'm going to keep it at zero Universal. And I think my image is a rather well prepared in this case. So what I'm going to do, I want to apply the same settings to the other images. So I'm selecting the mall, hit on this small icon and then synchronize settings that I'm going to press, okay. And my settings are applied toe all of the images. It doesn't mean the job is finished because some of the images have differences. So we will be pushed to fix some of the lights. For example, here was too bright, some readers in the light. Then I go to this image. This, for instance, is a little dark, so I'm increasing this. This level next one a little dark. I'm making this slightly brighter. This one we were working on. But I feel now when I look at this, I want this a little bit brighter and here increase once again and here also increase. So this is my work. Throw for the first step in the camera. Oh, in the next lesson, I'm going to talk to you about light room because light from developed panel is exactly the same thing as camera. And I know some people prefer light from over camera eso Now we need toe open this in front of shop So when you're not familiar, you can hit this sign. Make sure you work in the color space until beyond GB and Prophet RGB is the bigger space. Just in case your images go for the printing, you want to make sure that you have slightly bigger color space than s RGB. That's just technical information. And we have also option below opening for the shop. A smart object, you can check this, but you can also press shift and then, as you can see, open image change into open object. What's going on here? Let me explain to you I'm going to start with this image going to press shift and open object. Then this image will be open in front. The shop, or rather, object, will be open in for the shop. Once we open us image, we can't really go back to camera and non destructively fix what we did. But if we work with object, we can just double heat on the object and we're back in the camera and we can Fikse the certain things if we feel something is not right. So, for example, if we feel we have too much saturation on the yellows here because I see someone the face, we can easily read us this and then hit. OK, and we fix this nondestructive e. So this is how you can prepare your images in the camera for a good workflow later in photo shop. 3. Lightroom vs Camera Raw: before we move on. I know there's a lot of people who prefer light room over camera. So let's compare this to software's. We are going to import the images, and I'm going to show you the panels in light room in case you are the person who prefer working in light from, So I'm going to import. And this import is really comfortable in light room. So what do you need to find? You need to find the folder that contents your images, some going through their stop. That will be quite a lot. Then. Of course, courses planned and this is the immediate. I want to import all of them from this folder. So I'm actually important More images, which is the first advantage off light room that you can really easily store images in light room. So then I'm going move to develop panel, and I have some of the images and that are yet not processed. But I have some images that I was already working. Um, so I want to show you this. We were just processing this images using camera, and as you can see right now, the settings that we did in the camera are applied over here. Why is that? Because this develop panel in light room is exactly the same thing as camera. And we also have the same panels. So we have basic panel where we are many working with lights. We have tonic your of which we skipped. We have hue, saturation, luminous, which I actually prefer if you're in light room because we can manipulate on each and specially color at once here and we don't really have toe switch between hue, saturation and luminous. So then we have, of course, pleats turning detail, which is the sharpening. So as you can see, the panels that exist here is the same thing that we're doing in camera Off course, the location off them is different. But once you open them, they actually are exactly the same. They work the same. There is no difference between that. Also, we have less corrections and that we skipped and calibration on the bottom that we're doing . As you can see, we're increasing saturation on each channel and we really have this. So for people who wonder once the difference, what's difference between light from and camera on this develop panel camera no difference on differences. Problem. Comfort. Some people like to work in camera. Some people like to store images in the light room. Many people actually compare light from two for the shop, which is of course wrong. Because then there was no relation. So we have these images, but let develop something different. For instance, for example, I'm going to develop quickly in light room on this image. Or maybe even I'm going toe copy something from this settings. I'm going to select these files. This is other said, and I'm gonna try synchronizes different set. But it's many about lights and the lights are fairly similar. So then I'm going to synchronize and let's have a look at our images. We really nicely preferred order set off the images. Of course, there will be still some corrections, for example, here a little bit more off exposure. Also here less highlights and probably a little bit more of the shadows. So you have really tiny corrections. But here, everything to experiment, act. I feel here also, everything look really nice on this image A little bit more off the exposure and a little bit more of the highlights and the next question could be So how? Toe open this image, then toe for the shop. And we will be doing the same method as we did with the camera, because we can open this in front the shop and we can also open this a smart object. So I'm going to press control heat, right, and then truth option edit in and the first option is edit in other before the shop cc. But what we are going to do, we are going toe open, a smart object in further ship. And that's what I'm going to choose. I'm going to wait few seconds and my image should be open in fourth shop. A smart object. And once again, we if we see something toe correct, we can just double hit on this layer. But this time we're not going back to light room. But we are going toe camera. Why? Because it's exactly the same thing, and it would be probably were to jump from Photoshopped back to the light room. This is separate software and camera comes together with 40 shop as an addition. So that's why when we move this to for the shop from light from a smart object and opened. The smart object will have the same settings as we had in light room. But this time we will be in camera. So when we see something, we can still do some corrections over here. If there was something not right, If everything goes right, we can heat, okay? And we are ready to work in fourth shop. 4. How to Remove Unwanted Objects and Spots: in this lesson, I am going to show you the best way to remove unwanted objects from the image. So looking at this image, I just that raw conversion on this and in the background, we have some lantern over here that doesn't really work well in the composition. So we want to remove this. And for me, the best way to remove the object is using the basic retouching tools in photo shop to work non destructively. We want to create an empty layer to do this. Hit the small icon on the bottom. And I am going to rename this into the clean up something in the name cleanup. And mainly I am going to use toe retouching tools. The first of all, I am going to use a healing brush toe. Let me explain. How does it work? I'm going to make the size off the brush a little bit bigger using the short key if you don't know the short kiss. I put the file in this course on giving you the short so you can speed up your workflow once we make the size of the brush a little bit bigger. I'm pressing out corruption next to the object I want to remove one doesn't mean I'm taking the sample off the texture and then I'm going toe. Cover the object with the texture and the color that is going toe be applied. Here is the color unjust ID automatically from the color around, So I'm going to clean this up till this level and then if I will try to go further. As you can see, it's not perfect. Why is it because Hyland brushed Will dozen work really well Close to the edge is so close to that. Why is that the first question? Because when we get close to the injuries and the color is adjusted from the color around, it's never really perfect, because at this moment we have two different colors. So we need to get the tool that on just the texture and color together, this tool is clone stamp, too. So when I get close to the edge, you can press s on your keyboard, withdrawing stamp toe, and then I'm going toe, get the sample next to it with the color and the texture, and then cover it. As you can see, it's much better than a little bit lower here. We still can try. Once we are inside with healing brush, I can press J as you can see now when we are inside, it's a little bit better. It's still not perfect, but it's slightly better. So I'm going to switch toe clown stump and try to clean this inside with the crown stamp, which is a little bit precise when we have so many color differences here. It'll be a cure and going down here, so we're a little bit ration, so it's not fully perfect. But let's cover it here that's covered here. And as you can see, we can make it absolutely perfect and then the area will be unrecognisable. So let's have a look from the distance. As you can see, we don't have lantern anymore and there is no sign off it. Even looking at the sky, we can't see that anything was near that. Let's go to other image. We have another lantern to remove. I am going to use him. Brash will once again create a new empty layer which I'm going to rename Inter Clean up and then let's clean this up and getting close to the edge off course. We need to be careful like this in switch to clone stamp. So we're working with feeling brush inside. We work with the clone stamp to blend it really nicely to blend in naturally, a little bit more here, unless you can see the lanterns are removed. And this is not everything we can use. Our basic tool when used to mean you can always find some dirt around the face, for example, sports or maybe some dirt off the food when it's actually a child or adult and then using healing brush, we can quickly clean ab such a spot. I wouldn't recommend you to go all over the face on the family images. It would be very time taking. So just clean up the major sports and you don't really have to be worried off anything bigger. Because for this, there is many shortcuts for this kind of people for this kind of images, a little bit off the bride her over here, which I can also remove if you don't want them to bother you, and that would be sort off the first step. I do in photo shop, which is removing unwanted parts from the image I try to remove a little bit your I do often a step back. So if you didn't check the shortcuts, I did this by pressing command or command or control al corruption and set. But make sure that you have the settings like this because your settings in the newest for the shop might be a little bit different. So I think it's enough. And now we can move on toe a little bit more complicated things like smoothing out the skin on the people's face. 5. Fix Troublesome Skin with Frequency Separation: in this lesson. I am going to show you how to retouch skin with frequency separation to get perfect results . And you need to remember, in this course I'm giving your actions, including frequency separation action so you don't have to do their process all over again . But first of all, let me show you how to create frequency separation for those who choose to work manually, even though there is no reason for that. But it's good to understand. What are we doing? So, first of all, what is frequency separation frequency separation is splitting the image in tow to separate layer. One layer will be responsible for the texture and the other layer will be responsible for the color. So the days on both my smart object I'm going to create an empty layer. Then I'm going to press command or control al corruption shift and E to create the layer above that This layer I can rename as the low as the low layer. Then I am going toe duplicate this layer by pressing command or control and J and other layer. I am going to name high, just us high layer on the lower layer. I will be focused on the color. So what I want to do I want to zoom in this image to see the details on the image. Then I'm going to filter, bluer and gouge endure. I want to blurt out of this image till the level I want. See the details. But the details will be blowed. And I see the general shape for this image. Radios will be around eight pixels. We can change it depending on the size of the image. But for this one is sound a pig cells I'm going to hit. Okay, then I'm going toe the hi liar and on the high layer, I'm going to be focused on texture. So I'm going to image apply image and here is important part. As the source, we need to choose the layer, which is merch. And I mean the 1st 1 will be merged and we're choosing the layer with switching the merch into love. If we named this as a low and then choose the blending for blending, you need to pay attention. How many beats your image Has this image house is a bit image. It could be 16 bit image, so pay attention how you process your image in the camera, So check the number here. If it's a beat, you to subtract. If it will be 16 beat, you will choose on. So I'm going with subtract for centering. The scale will be to offset 1 to 8 and these books invert one be checked. If the image will have 16 beats, it will be at scale to offset zero and this box will be checked. What is really important? You need toe pay attention how the image looks like. If it looks in this way, it means you did the work, right? So with subtract as you can see, it looks like this. It means we did the job in the right way. I'm going toe hit, okay? And then change the blending mode from normal toe leaner light. And then I am going to put this two layers into the group's I'm going to perceived selling this two layers than command or control N g. To put this into the group, I'm going to name this F as US frequency separation. And when you look at this, as you can see, nothing has changed because this is our actual image that we just plead in Toto separate layers. And this is how you created as I mentioned in this course, I'm giving you actions, including frequency separation action. After you East tell the actions, you just go to windows actions, transactions. So this image is a bit image. As I said before you choose F s a beat as frequency separation and deep played and you have all the information in guardian blue dialogue. Choose radios that blurs out skin texture. Remember that the radius will be different for each image. As I said to you for this image, it will be honored eight pixels. He's okay and our frequency separation action is created in between. I made an empty layer for the tongue collect correction, but it's not that important at this moment. What we need to do right now for clean on the skin you will go if high frequency layer and for fixing the tones, you will be using the empty layer or the low frequency layer. But let me start from the high frequency how to clean up the image you just clown stomp and make sure you work with hard edge it brush then make sure your sample is currently er so you want to work on Lee on this high frequency layer and then press al direction to take a sample and cover the sports you want to fix on. As you can see, this work is extremely simple, and the reason for that is because the colors are below, so we don't change the colors and we don't really need to be bothered by changing the colors. We can quickly go over This high frequency layer feeds this part, and soon you will see really nice result that we got so few more sports here. The skin was really troublesome, which is very common. And here we are. No, you can check how it looks like before and after just within few seconds. So now let's do some work about the tones and the shadows off the image. We can do it with low frequency, and then I like to use patch to. So then make sure you check the source over here and choose the areas that you want to fix market around and drag it out just like this. Move it and you can easily fix their unwanted shadows or the wrong shadows. Whatever you're going to call it, you can also fix the eye banks using this technique bright and the cramp a little beat a little bit more. Here, let's have a look. As you can see, it's brighter. It looks better. We have some light over here. We can easily fix it. Make it a little bit smaller, a little bit off light here. And, as you can see with this few simple moves we can improve that turns off the image. If you see something a little bit more, you can go to the layer in between. Choose the clown stamp, but this time choose the soft edged brush. The best brush to use it is the brush that I provide within discourse and then change the sample from current layer to Karen below. And then with the soft edged brush, I can take the sample and paint over the areas I want to smoke out. As you can see, we can easily on even all of the lights within. This few simple moves lets him out. Have a look before and after. This is how you can easily fix the skin with few simple steps using frequency separation 6. Smooth Out Skin Using Inverted High Pass: in this last time, I am going to show you how to smooth out skin using inverted high pass. And of course, at first I'm going to show you how to create inverted high pass filter and then how to use my inverted high pass action that I provide in this course. So first of all, creation, which is very similar to frequency separation, we need to create two layers so pressing command al corruption shift and eat to create the layer. If you work on windows, that will be control out, shift and eat the first layer. I am going to name Blur because we'll be blowing this out. Then I'm going to press Commander Control and J to copy this and the top layer will be named I A p us inverted high pass. So first blurring out the skin lens I mean, we need to see the details. I'm going to filter, blur and guardian girl. I'm going to blow out the skin maybe a little bit more than that on eight pixels, so it would be too soft. It will be more visible, so you don't want to see any details we want. Toe blew out the contours Not too much, but the details. We don't want to see any spots around the face and then heat. Okay, then we go to inverted high pass layer. I'm going toe image and apply image. And this way we will be implying Inverted the high pass filter not inverted yet, but will be applying high pass filter. So as the source, the layer will be blower. So this one, if you have anything different, check to make sure on the source is the layer that you blood blending for a beat. Images subtract scale to us and want to a offset Oneto eight And these books inverted one be tracked if you work on 16 bit image which you can see on the top here, blending will be aunt scale to offset zero and this book's invert will be checked. So I'm going to have soup tracked, of course, and then heat. Okay, so this stage I don't need the blue layer and more. So I'm going to remove this and I will be working just on this inverted high pass layer. So now I'm going to change panic mode from normal toe leaner lined and this image appear a little bit more sharpens right now, which is also very good way for sharpening the image if you need some method but the name off this is inverted hyper, So we need to invert this layer to do this. I'm pressing command or control, and I and I will get this blur effect which is opposite to this sharpen effort. So right now, I want to work non destructively. And if you want to work non destructive in for the shop on some layer, when you will be applying some filters later, you want to convert this to the smart object, some going to press control, heat right and choose convert to smart object. So now when we'll be applying some filter and we need to apply the guardian blue filter, that application will be non destructive and it will be possible to change it any time. So I'm going to filter now, lure and gouge on blue and right away. Even at eight pixels, you will see how soft this skin appeared right now, and you need to know that for the adults, it won't be always such a good results. So I recommend to using inverted high pass on this kindle this young that is soft. So radius. I recommend you also to keep this very similar to the one you were having before. So if you're blurring this layer before at eight pixels, the eight pixels now will be OK or don't go more than half. So, as you can see at half defect is very strong. It's nearly two strong, so I don't recommend to go more than that on Trickle meant half or equal are slightly below equal. So I can't the right use at six Bills pixels a little bit less pixels than the blur I had before because I think the result is just perfect hit. Okay. And this is not everything, but you can see the effect you applied right now. You applied the effect to the all INGE. So what we need to do we need to create the mask that allows us to work on the certain areas I'm going to hit the small icon. I created the mask which is this square thing here, which is color right now, and it means the effect is visible when we invert this white by pressing command or control and I to the black color. The effect is not visible. And now, by painting with the color why we can bring back the effort just in the areas we want. So I'm choosing color wide the brush and just painting on the face because I don't really want to smoke out and other areas so a little bit here and have a look before and after beautiful and soft skin. If you want to change the garden door values, you can just open this, as I said, working non destructively and you can change it at any time. So this is how I work with this. And now let's go toe other image because I want to show you how my action work. So I'm going to zoom in on the face. I'm going toe open window action and then actions, and we are going down to the actions that I provide in this course, which is photo editing. I'm going toe I HP, which is inverted high, pass a beat and just going to plate off course. You have all of the information. So said the radios that softly blows out the skin texture. Remember that the Raiders will be different for each image continue. The value will be probably very similar to what we said before the science of the images. Very similar, maybe slightly smaller. I kinda go with seven this time hit. Okay, now we setting up everything cure. It's already set up. We checked. If it's correct, heat okay and the rest will be applied and we are at the last step, said the blue radios. Done brings on the skin texture to the point when you are happy about it. Remember to not sit up higher values than the one before on the blur, which in this case will be seven. Continue. I'm going with seven now, as you can see soft blue or maybe five now and I think five. Giving us nice soft effect on the black layer Mask paint with the white soft agit branch in the areas where you want to even out of the skin, lowered brush capacity or flow to get more control on bringing up effort so continue and with white color off the brush I'm going to paint around the face and now we can see the effort. This is before, and this is after. This is my way for making the skin very soft, especially on family images like this one 7. Adjust Contrasts Manually: in this last time, I am going to show you how to smooth out skin using inverted high pass. Giving us nice soft effect on the black layer Mask paint with the white, soft edged brush in the areas where you want to even out of the skin, lowered brush capacity or flow to get more control on bringing up effort. So continue and with white color off the brush, I'm going to paint around the face and now we can see the effort. This is before, and this is after. This is my way for making the skin very soft, especially on family images like this one 8. Adjustement Layers for Color Grading: off course. The major purpose of this course is to teach you how to edit fast using the actions and car lands. But before we go to it, I need to explain to you adjustment layers for colors because first of all, you might want to color great Mannelly Your images and the extra knowledge is always useful . So I'm going toe open adjustment layers. And of course, we have adjustment layers for the lights that were already using. And when we take levels and curves, you can also color great your images. In this case, curves will be better and I'm going toe open Saman, just mental years and quickly present to you how these adjustment layers works. So that will be curves. Very useful hue, saturation color balance for the fielder. I'm going to turn this off at this moment because it already applied the future Channel Mixer. Very underrated, Grady in map and also selective color. So starting with curves, I'm going toe open This and we will not be working with this RGB mode. But we'll go to colors so we have the primary colors red, green and blue, and then also we have second Eric or so secondary color for read a science. That's why pulling up this curve, we will add some red color and pulling this down. We will add some secondary color, which is science. And then the curve work exactly the same way as with the lights on the left hand side. We have shadows on the right hand side. We have higher it. So, for example, if I drag it down here, I will add Sion two shadows and going up here. I will add color red to the highlights and exactly the same way will work every order channel here, for example, and in red to the shadows. Excuse me Green, of course, and magenta toe highlights here. Maybe I want to add some of the yellows, two shadows and blues to the highlights. As you can see, this is very random, but quick explanation how these modes work you and then we have hue saturation, which I find extremely powerful because maybe want to make the images a little bit more punchy, a little bit more saturated. And then we will use this saturation slider if we want to change the hue of the image which is basically the tone will work with this Hugh slider, so drinking on the left side it will get more off our red and then probably go into this. Purples, etcetera, all of the available colors, and it doesn't look nice, but small changes are absolutely OK, so I'm going to go down to zero with saturation. The other option with hue saturation adjustment layer is this small hand. It allows you to define the color, and you can treat the color by yourself, such as reds, yellows, greens, science, Bruce and magenta as. But you can also define the color precisely using this small hands. So, for example, in this grass here, you might be not sure if it's yellow or red pressing on this. As you can see, it was the fight as the yellows, which means this grass contents, more yellows than reds, and you want to increase some of the saturation than this hand using for this part here. As you can see, it's still yellows. Maybe here will be green, but we barely have any green. So we actually increased also saturation for greens, but they're probably east, some green, and just that it'll be class if you want to increase the saturation, you will go with greens. Then you can use their hand for the sky. Increase it and, as you can see, very powerful. Then, of course, on each color you can manipulate a little bit with the huge Let's go feather color balance my favorite adjustment layer, which allows you to work, sir actively with channels red, green and blue on shadows, mittens and highlights. So this time, let's say we want to add some of the warm tones to their shadows and colder tons to the highlights. So I will aunt some of their reds to the shadows are legal beat off yellows, maybe magenta as well. And for the highlights, I will go opposite, add in a needle, beat off science and color blue and then meet tons. Of course, after you Ah, quick show a little bit off a little bit of green, A little bit off yellows. Nothing too special as you can see. Simple color, Grady. And of course, you need to remember that you don't want to apply the random colors, so you want toe work understanding how the vascular work. So, for example, if you add some of the worm turns to the shadows. Check how the opposite color works for the highlights. If you're all image is in one tone, for example, in Blue Don and in some warm tones will not really look that great and the same the opposite. So you need to pay attention to those things. Then we have photo filter, and use of this is extremely simple. We have some already done filters here, some warm ones, some cold ones and some color ones. But you can also choose your own color. So, for example, to this image, I want to add a little bit off orange filter and increase the density. So my image is becoming more orangey. Very simple. I don't think you can do a lot by this channel. Mixer is a little bit more complicated in this case, so we have also output channels, which is red, green and blue, and this require a little bit more knowledge. But I will try to talk about this as simple as possible. So you have three channels red, which will have primary Rick color, of course, red and secondary Sion. Then we have off course green, which will be primary green and second are a magenta and blue primary blue secondary low. And then we also have these sliders and this sliders represent the location off each light . So I can tell you in the wider representation is this red and most narrow Onley visible in the highlights is this blue? So, for example, if I want to increase just rates around the highlight areas, I will drag up this blue slider. If I want to add this more to the general image, I will. And this light, as you can see, it located pretty much everywhere. And this is like basic understanding. How does it work? So, for example, if I would like Toa aren't our legal beat in this case once again Ah, warm color to the shadows. I would probably go with blue and at some off the cold stones to the blue today because it's represented in the highlight. So how it just blew to add a little bit off the blue color and then probably go to read and on the little beet science by lower in here it here. But then I would aunt read and yellow to this. Why this representation off colors because as we talk, this red is the what really white representation. So this slider allows you toe put color visible on hall of the image, including the shadows, and this slider is many visible just in the highlights. That's why when we aren't a lot off blue and sigh into the highlights, and also we aren't a little weed off Redd's and a little bit off yellow to this wide represented think we still can see the difference highlights cold storms and warm tones in the shadows. I know it's a little bit complicated. It might be a little bit confusing, but it really allows you toe manipulate with the color very deeply and perform very complicated color grading. So then selective color and selective color allows you to manipulate each and specific color you want to choose. So, for example, we have colors us reds, yellows, greens, science, blues. So new teachers, for example, reds. We can add the certain color or take away the certain color from the color red that exist on this image. So, for example, we have some rights. Probably hear Dragon have the sion. We add Scient to the red colors and what you can see the red color nearly completely disappear. If we go opposite, we will and read to the Reds. If you're going toe and yellows, two reds, as you can see it, will become more orangey. If we take it down, it will become this weird a man Jen Tick. So that's how it works. And, of course, opposite to the blues. If, which is the blues and yellows, this will probably become more sion looking like If we take it down, it will be more bluish, so very simple. Way off. Working with selective color, we also have white no trial blacks, which is very closely related to shadows, meet tones and highlights. And in the end we also have grading map, which allows you to add some color for the shadow area. For example, we are going to get with the shadows once again. I think oranges in the shadows work very nicely here and some of the science colors, which is opposite to the highlights. Then we are going to hit OK, and in photo shop, you can't really use gray and map with blank. Most normal you can by reducing capacity, but it looks sort off weird. So the best option is probably change meant not from normal toe, soft light overlay or others. But you need to keep in mind. It always increases the Contras as well. So I don't think personally is the best tool to use for color grading. So this was kind of quick introduction toe how to use adjustment layers for color. A lot of information, probably. You need to watch this once again when you're going to use some of this unjust mental years . And now let's move on. And I'm going to show you my amazing techniques, my lats, that allows you to color great the image just with one simple click within seconds. 9. Instaling and Using LUTs: in this lesson, I will show you how to quickly ended your images with one simple click color winds and luminosity wise using color look of tables in 40 shop. So let's have a look. This is image. Before I applied this one adjustment layer, I did this with my order images. As you can see, I choose different color look up tables that I created myself. So let's go back to the beginning. Whatis car. Look up table. We have color. Look up tables provide it in for the shop as adjustment layers and photo shop offers some of the color look up tables and the best part of this you can create your own color. Look up tables or you can east are color look of tables created by others, and especially for this course. I created seven warm lots for you to download and install toe photo shop so you can edit images as quickly as I did. So once you down on the folder containing clients, copy the folder, which is warm collection. Lots go to applications off course. It might be a little bit different for the windows. Go toe under Before to shop cc 2019. Find presidents three D lots and copy your item here. So I'm going to press paste item. And right now it is in my father's shop. So I'm going back. And to make the lance visible in your for the shop, you have to restart your father shops. I'm going to close for the shop, open it again and going to show you how to use them. So now I am back in fourth shop and let's use our last to do this. I'm opening color, look up tables and then heat this I can over here this sign load treaty lot. And among the lads, I'm searching for one off their seven lads. I apply, which is, for example, dry golden leaves should be somewhere here. And let's have a look. What else we have here? Punch and pinky warm. So maybe I'm going to use Pinky warm for this image. And as you can see the lattice applied, let's do something different for this image. I'm going to apply golden leaves, so let me find this. We're going to search for golden leaves on again, one click next image, and for this image, I already checked before I am going to use the lot Colt reach for the rich colors, as you can see on it, will beat deeper, a little bit more saturated. And for the last image. I was also checking before what will be suitable here. So I'm going to apply the lot under the name Dr Let's have a look a little bit washed out a deedle beat money warm that and with this simple method toe four images I applied different lots achieving some rain nice and warm color results. 10. How to Create your own LUTs: in this lesson, I will show you how to create your own lots. So I have this image and I was starting from Camero and opening this as the smart object. You need to know that to create a lot, you cannot have a smart object. It has to be J pic file TIF, but most important, it has to be flat layer here. That's why to do this, I'm going to heat right press control. He tried and flat and image probably didn't press that once again flat an image. And now I have background image. So it's possible for me to create a lot. Simply speaking, we can use any of the adjustments a year. For example, I'm going to use hue saturation. I'm going to increase a little bit off the saturation. I might also do maybe increase the saturation for jazz. The color blue a little bit. I'm going to work a little bit with the color balance as well, on some warm tone for the shadows and some cooler tones for the highlights or maybe everything world. So we just going to create were image, something very simple, but you need to know we can create much more layers. I'm going also to increase a little bit of contrast and change grandma to lemon luminosity to make sure I'm on Lee affecting lights. Then I'm going to file export and export this as color Look up table, which is not great. Points. 64 is absolutely enough. It's already very high. If you're going to get maximum quality, it will be saving a very long time. So I wouldn't recommend this. Okay, and then you can save it wherever you want. I'm going to save it, toe the warm collections. Let's now I'm going to name this pissed and let's save this. So now I can remove my adjustment layers and see how it works. We don't really have to install the lads to use them. We can heat load, tree lot and surgeon on our computers. So this is the test I created. I'm going to hit open, and the effect I created just seconds before now is available as color look up table. And of course, there is much more possibilities. For example, we can use some color look up that we created before. For example, I'm going to use golden leaves not the ones I was using before. As you can see, really nice Every But for example, you want to add some of the adjustment layers. So maybe you want to add a little bit off contrast to this image. So I'm going to add just a little bit of contrast two days and maybe you want to add a little bit more color. I'm going to leave this up to you. So now we have this golden ones with increased contrast and you can add more if you want, then go to file export coral. Look up tables, okay? And I'm going to name this US test number two. So what you can see you can use already created car look up tables to create new ones. So now let's love this to test number two, and we can simply apply this. So this is very simple method. How to create your own lads or modify already created lice 11. Final Touch ups in Camera Raw: we are slowly heading to the very end, and I want to show you how I do my final adjustments when it comes to the light and color. I really like to use camera filter. So to do this we need to create a stamp on the very top. To do this, make sure you selected the top layer and then press command option shift and eat. And if you work on windows, that will be control out, shift and eat. I'm going to rename this inter final and convert days to the smart objects on prison control right and convert to the smart object. Because, of course, I want to work non destructively. And when we work with the filters, we really want to create smart objects that I'm going to filter camera filter and using this basic panel, I like to increase a little bit of contrast if it's needed. Highlights, I think, are descend on this state. So maybe the cruise a little bit off shadows, and also I was telling you at the very beginning that I don't really use clarity, but at the very end, it's okay to use clarity to improve. Also, a little bit off contrast. And as you can see, I'm going to press speak before after this image looks much better when we are that a little bit of contrast. Also, it comes to the lance. I don't really like toe toe. Many contrasts to the lads because every image is different, so some image doesn't need so many contrast. Some image need, and with contrast, it's so easy you can do this by yourself. So then we can also go to hue, saturation ruminants. If you need to add a little bit of saturation, you can use this sliders. I want to decrease some of the saturation for yellows just a little bit because I feel their faces a little bit too yellowish. So the Christian for yellows. But I increased for the oranges and also for reds, and that would be it. I don't really need to do anything more with sharpening. You can also add a little bit off the sharpening, but I'm going to use my action, which is much more precise. So he's okay before after, as you can see, very few steps just to make sure your image pop out more 12. Make Eyes Pop: in this lesson, I will show you how to make the ice pop. And to do this we need to create few and jasmine players. So I'm creating curve adjustment layer, and this one will be responsible for brightness. Then I'm going to create another curve adjustment layer, but this one will be responsible for color. We can, of course, use another adjustment layer for color. You can go with curves or something different, and I decided to split this because sometimes color might have different wrench than lights . And then the last one will be hue saturation adjustment layer. I'm going to name this saturation. I'm going to start with the brightness simply bring. I am a curve adjustment layer and introvert this layer month by present command or control and I and then with white color off the brush, I'm going to set up flow somewhere between 20 or 30. I'm going to paint over with the white color. It's a little bit lagging now. It's working. You can see brighter, and you need to know which area off the I meant to be brighter, because with the under images, we have this nice shadow over here. Usually so you don't want to brighter this area but just the area below. Then the color. I'm going to push a little bit more than natural color that is here, which will be add in a little bit more blue that I'm going to invert this again. And in this case you want to paint all I to make it look like it's really you don't want to have two different colors, so I'm going to paint over it. And also here, just as they come, do not affect the hair. But it should be okay, then you can also in just a little bit better this color. If you feel there should be actually more Sion, then blue you can easily on just is buying, manipulating with curves and then at the end, saturation. So I simply increase the saturation, invert the layer mosque and paint over it to make it more visible. Stronger color. So let's have a look. We can now put this Oh, the one group. I'm going to press shift and select this old command or control and G named this eyes before and after a very simple method and the same thing I'm going to do on this image. Now I'm going with curve adjustment layer increase. Name this brightness, duplicate color and saturation and going from the very beginning brightness just in the certain area here to make it pop color. I'm money, some saying, and some of the color blue. Of course, you might go a little bit different. I would recommend to keep it rather national. So if the person has blue collar, you don't really want to change their eye color to something different. But preserve the color that the person has in the real life. Off course, the light Applying some filters might change it. That's why this blue color wasn't really done visible here. We had a lot off yellow light, which was changing this during our process. I think it's too blue, so I cannot some sion or regulate this with some green. No, it's OK. Maybe even a little bit more off the light here and then saturation, adding some saturation, invert and saturating the ice, some painting all over to be more here, have a look before after a small difference. Really, this saturation could be something more often optional, but this is how I tried to make the ice pope in Fort Shop and there might be different methods because for bright and you can use different and asthma layer for color, you can use different adjustment layer, so there is no limitations. But what I do recommend to you is using the masks to control their light and color in the certain area. 13. Sharpen Images: So let me introduce you my sharpening method. So of course, in for the shop you have some sharpening filters. But of course, to apply them, we need an actual layer. Or you can use camera to do sharpening their. I want to give you my action for the sharpening. So let's open this. Let's open actions and let's see, how does it work? I'm not going to do whole process from the beginning because it's very similar toe what we were doing and you will understand how does it work? So I'm trusting, sharpening a beat played and as you can see here was created toe separate layers the same us when we were doing inverted high pass first layer is making this blower. So I made the blower rather very soft. You can see from this distance, but maybe I can play it again and zoom this in. So I'm zooming around here. I want to make sure that this area will be shopping and now playing the action once again. So what I do in this first step, I want to blurt out this verifying details. I'm not going as hard as this because then effect will be way too strong, but I'm going down with these few pixels and I want to blow them out. I want to blow out this very small details that will be somewhere out between 23 pixels for this image. Then he took a and on the other layer, the high pass filter will be defined here very fast. So continue. And we who are left on Lee with the sharpened layer which is basically opposite to what we applied by the blur, some trees in the brush and then with the brush I'm painting around the area that I want to sharpen. So, of course, Dogface on to make nice and clear here. And it'll be here her of the person and up much more than this grass. I need to be more. We could add some contrast and other things, but when we zoom in, you can already see the difference before and after. As you can see the her off the dark us. It's really nice and clear and the same I do with the other images. So, for example, I need some sharpening on this image going to play the action. They all have very similar values in resolution. So I'm going to keep this No trial, 2.5 pixel going to paint over it on the face. I want to make sure these flowers here, everything that meant to be crispy will be really nice and sharpen also the close, and it will be here can see before or after nice and sharp. It looks like we actually added some quality. It looked like we added some pixels. Have a look at that. Her really nice and crispy. We could even probably at a little bit more. So if you need more sharpening, I wouldn't probably recommend just duplicating bad on another layer. So, for example, if you need more sharpening, renamed this layer sharpened number one and then Onda no direction. Continue to the same thing. And then, if you want to add a little bit more sharpening around the flowers, for example, you can paint on it. And as you can see, this is more sharpened. Now I feel it could be a little bit too much in this case. Don't worry a little bit on her. And now if it's a little too strong, you can read us capacity and then another image. The same thing I'm going to play sharpening, continue. And here also part of the world drop will be nice and sharpen. So I'm painting a lot of it all over it, and a little beat are on the face and this is my own method and my favorite to the sharpening. I don't have toe ways the time for picking up the high pass filter. It's all based on the action and take all the details from this brute blue layer and invert this so before after, So just don't forget to get the action and enjoy quick results. 14. Cropping Image: what is really important at the very end off image editing. Do not forget about cropping because it might look actually better. So looking at this image, I would like toa change a crop, a little beat because at this moment we have very white image and have a look. Let me choose the different ratio. I'm going with original racial. On the moment I clear this and this wide ratio, I don't feel it suits for this image. Don't forget, the main object here is actually a person, the child in this case. So I want to center this a little bit and make this child really main character of this image some treason describe and the ratio I'm going to choose its 4 to 5, which is very suitable for social media. It's perfect for Instagram. This is actually the ratio for the Instagram. So I'm going to choose this and I still have some space above the head. So I'm trying to lower this a little bit. Maybe not too much. Let's keep some sky and you find it here. So then I'm going to crop days, and I do believe this is much better frame at this moment. As you can see, we have the main person and also other images. In this case, we have way too much above the head. So what I'm going to do, I'm actually just changing the racial to four, 25 4 to 5 for Instagram. And we don't have that much above the head. We could go a little bit lower here, but no need go too far. Actually, we can keep a little bit space above the hand. So these two examples were really easy to decide. Sometimes we have something more difficult and going to the next ridge. We have really long image here and we have this bag. You see, we don't really have nice composition. And this image actually was travel some for me. But then I started checking. How about just scrapping the portrait? And then it came that it actually did look really nice.
