Project Description

Design a repeatable tile from a grid

ASSIGNMENT

Your assignment is to create a repeatable tile that can be used to make a full pattern. You'll use grid paper (or create your own!) and draw geometric or illustrative lines and shapes to create a 3"x3" tile.

You'll reproduce your tile using a scanner or xerox machine, and cut out your tiles to play with your pattern. The fun here is rotating and shifting your tiles to see the possibilities within simple geometric shapes.

Stay tuned for my second class on turning your tile design into a block or stamp. You'll be able to print on any material you like, and create beautiful home objects covered in your geometric pattern.

DELIVERABLE

Start out by sharing your single tile design. If you have created a full pattern from your tiles, please share that in your project space as well.
