Project Description
For this class you'll be creating a multi-layer pattern tile of your own! You can get this printed on fabric, wallpaper, stationery, stickers, you name it! Here's what I'd like you to do:
- Do some research and find some layered patterns you love (Pinterest) and reverse engineer them like I do in the video "Breaking Down Patterns". This will get the ideas flowing!
- It may be helpful to watch the course first, but eventually you'll need to create your motifs. You can digitize them from sketches (check out this course on how to digitize them) or create them right inside of Illustrator (classes here and here for help on that)
- Have some fun playing around to get your pattern idea down (Lesson: Getting the Idea Down)
- Turn that idea into a tile (Lesson: Tiling I & II)
- Turn that tile into a finished, colored piece! (Lesson: Finishing)
- Be brave and show your work with all of us. We LOVE seeing it.Â
- If you post your work on Instagram (let's be friends!) use the hashtag #skillsharebydylanm, there may be prizes in it for you :)
Feel free to use my class project as a template.
Love,
Dylan
