Hello Everyone

I am back with another class in Gouache. Pattern painting is something that gives me so much of peace and relaxation. It’s an easy therapy after a long Day. It absolutely Calms my Mind.

I create a lot of pattern painting for shooting my reels for Instagram. They are absolutely refreshing to me.

The reason I made this super easy class is so that you can enjoy painting these as much as I do.

We will be painting 6 Class projects together in this class. All the class projects are under 15 minutes and super easy and fun to paint.

I hope you guys will enjoy this class as much as I enjoyed making this for you all.

1. INTRODUCTION: Hello everyone and welcome back to another Skillshare class on gouache painting with me. I am an artist and an art educator. I put up my paintings on Instagram under the handle, creating from the hot. This class is going to be more of a therapy than a detail painting. We'll be painting different, easy patents and quash today. All these patterns are quite simple. And honestly they are authentic me to paint vivid painting, different patterns with leaves, different kind of leaves, some flowers, and also some abstract patterns. We will be painting all of these in real time in this class. And all of these patterns are quite easy and beginner friendly. So even if you are a big no-no, you can begin with this class and enjoy this therapy session. It's completely a peaceful time to pin these patents. And honestly, they are so relaxing. So come and join me in this class of patent painting with quash as beeping the six beautiful patents with different shades. And have a good therapy time painting these patents to get there. Absolutely easy. And I hope you would love painting them as much as I did. 2. MATERIALS REQUIRED: Let me quickly walk you through the materials that will be requiring for this class. I'll be using this sketch book. Let us from the planned Irish paper. I'll be using the sketchbook for filling my patents. Alternatively, you can use any 200 GSM watercolor paper. Or if you have such a schedule, you can use this sketch book and fill your sketchbook with patents. So I'll be using the sketch book. I'll be needing a black and a white gel pen. So what are from the brand trues, true. This is true technical pens, 0.6 and this is the proof. One MMC. So these are the two pens that I'll be using. You can use any white and black pen available, but you come into the brushes. We will be needing some flat brush, some round brushes and some detail on brushes to act on my new details. So I'll be using these pressures from the brand, our tissues and come in. So these are the brushes that you require. You'll be needing on wash color set. I'll be using my Brewster official goulash colors. So you can use any wash colors that is available with you or else you can even go ahead with postdoc, aldose, or watercolors. If you did not have SHE cameras, you will be needing a mixing palette to mix the colors. I'll be using this acrylic sheet as my palette to mix the canvas. And you'll be needing to jars of clean water, cleaning your brushes and mixing the beans and the draft lot for wiping off your brushes. So these are all the materials that you will be requiring for this class. So go grab your materials and see you in the technique section. 3. TECHNIQUES: Before moving on to making a final patterns, I'll just show you some of the basic patterns that we'll be using in this pattern painting class today. I have randomly put down four colors onto my palette to show you the different patterns that we'll be using today. I'll start with mixing my Carlo with pointer first to get a smooth texture to my color. So I'm forced picking up the shade of religion green from my palette. And now we'll first loan to make different leaves. So one type of a leaf is use appointed. Use a round brush that has a pointed tip. If you round brush does not have a pointed tip, then use a detailer brush for making the fine details. So the first kind of leaf would be, I start with a very small branch like this. And then I start pressing the belly of my brush. And slowly I start pressing it to move. And gradually I began to lift it up like this. So that's a leaf that we created. Similarly. Now a lot more to this. Again, I macro small branch like this. I pressed the belly of my brush and I begin to lift it up. So depending on the size of the leaf that you wanted to see, if I need a smaller size, I press my blush little and then lifted up also quickly. So that, that way you can get different variations and different sizes to the leaves. Now your C, I made it more bigger. So if you need to increase the size, you need to apply more pressure while pressing your brush. And if you need a smaller leaf, you need to apply less pressure, pressing the penny. So this is one kind of leaf. The second kind of leaf is the long list. So in that you do not press, you know, the belly of your brush too much. You just press it a little to get to know Leave Strokes. So see, like this to make a bunch of these leaves and they are a little in the zigzag pattern. So if you can notice I'm moving my brush in a little zigzag manner to get these kind of leaves. So this is another kind of leaf. Now, one more kind of leaf would be, now we'll try being an oval shaped leaf with the help of this same brush. So what I do is I first take the smallest stem and I just pressed the belly of my brush and lifted up. So I got an oval shape, lived without any sharp edges, edges like this. So again, increase the branch. I did a smaller branch, I just press my brush and I lifted up. So this is how you can get oval shaped leaf. Again, if you needed in smaller size, you press the belly of the brush only little and lifted up. So that is how you can vary the sizes of the leaves with one single brush itself. Now, another kind of leaf would be like this and those exact baton and as exact button like this. And then we'll fill in the center part. So that's another kind of leaf that you can use to create a branch to these leaves. I'll just show you how we can create a good grid. Let's create a filled branch of these leaves. So I begin with marking a tin branch and then randomly, as I prefer, I start to place these leaves somewhere. You can take out an additional branch from the same range and mock some additional leaves like these. So you're from one branch, I made two leaves popping out. Keep on placing the leaves until your branches fill fuller and as you needed. So if you didn't know this, I'm not having any fixed factor. I'm randomly just marking the branches as I want. And IBS or small a few of. You can even mix these two partners too and form a branch off the news. So this is a branch of the leaves that reform. Now the second thing would be some flowers. We will be painting these flowers in, right? And not being on a colored background. So your, I'll show you this with the help of a darker color since our background is by tour. So for painting these flowers, we need to pick up a smaller sized round brush. And these are going to be sort of DZ flowers. So it's quite simple to paint them. Pick up the column thick consistency. And you just randomly keep pulling out these petals like this. That is, you place your brush and you pull it out. You can even do that from your. So adding different shapes. So some flowers could be just facing our blood's, some levels could be just facing downwards like this. So I think the fin depths to your flowers, different variations would make your painting look more natural. After these drives, we can add different tones on to these flowers with different shades of either the same color or a different color to give it a two tone variations. And we'll be painting the same flowers in miniatures two. So for that you will have to pick up a smallest size, either a detailer brush or a very small sized round brush. And you pin the same flower in a very small manner like this. Now, let's learn to paint a circle, the help of a flat brush. So depending on the size of the circle you need, you need to select a flat brush. So if you need a bigger so-called, you'd pick up a bigger brush. And now I have picked up some color onto both sides of my flat brush. And to paint a circle job, what I'm going to do is I place my brush like this, and I just move my brush, keeping it onto the paper. And I move it in a complete circular motion. And I get this so-called formed. And if certain places the edges don't come out when you can just do that much area. So that's how without the help of a compass, you can directly been so good. So let's try painting this circle and our smallest size also. So I'll pick up a smaller flat brush now, and I'll pick up the color onto my brush. And now you're so my brush headless, less color. That's the reason by the time I wish to n, the color was 12 my brush. So this way you can pin, so goes with the help of a flat brush. And if somewhere like this, you need to give any finishing touches, you can give it with the same brush. Another thing that we'll be using in most of the patents is giving a dual tone to our leaves. So you either pick up a darker tone then this order lighter tone to give highlights with a second tone on to the leaves. So you're, I'm picking up a light green sheet. And what we'll do is after the first layer dries, we will give them some small strokes like this. So your I'm just running my brush or what do one of the edges of the leaves and giving stone like this. So this is adding two dimensions, that is two balloons to our leaf. You can do it on either all of the leaves or some of the leaves as you prefer. And depending again the bones, what do you wish to use that as a lighter tone or a Docker bone than this. So this is one of the things. And one more thing is adding the birds to these flowers. So we'll be mostly using a yellow ocher shade to add buttons to our flowers. So when it's a full flower in the center, you are this bug. Flower like this. You add the body, you're in a flower facing down what you add the body humor. So in this one, the bar that is slightly about the flower drop because the bug is visible or not. So similarly in the small flowers to you please, these buttons. So these are some of the basic things that you need to keep in mind, or rather practice these strokes before moving on to the patent being a major leaves, we'll be using leaf patterns and the floral patterns. So I would recommend all of you to try out these leaves on a rough sheet multiple times so that you are handsets fee to make these leaves also feel free to make this pattern as you want to place the leaves. It's not necessary to please the Neves In the same pattern or the same placement that I have pleased. It's all about making feedback. And you should be able to make these Feeney As and how you would like to place it. So practice all of this and then let's begin our class project. 4. CLASS PROJECT 1 - SIMPLE LEAF PATTERN: Now that we have all belonged downloading the basic of atoms that we'll be using. Let's begin with taping down on paper. So for the first one, we'll first finger squared with obese color and then remove the tapes and paint a leaf baton. So for diversity square, you prefer, you can mark that square with the help of a masking tape. And then we begin painting. I am done mass in my people. Or for building the bygone, I'll be using the rose color from the bruise two series and mix it with a bit of white to get two different tonal values. So I'll first begin with a darker tone rows at the top. And then vile I reached the bottom. I'll make it lighter by adding white. So I'm just mixing my color onto my palette with the help of water to make it smooth to flow. Okay, remember to not add too much water. It depends on how thick your colors, the colors should flow easily. Color should flow easily on do your people. So remember to have it in an opaque consistency yet smooth enough to flow. Now I'll begin with applying the pink sheet at the top. Remember to not move your brush too much that European flows out from the masking tape. Otherwise it will spoil that squared look which we needed with the help of masking. So we'll have the alien I painted with this shade of pink. And now I'll mix more of fight to this mixture and create a lighter tone for the Balkan. Can you see I also mistakenly means my brush without giving notice here. So I'll cover those gaps with either white quash at the end or I'll try to paint some leaves out there. Now, I am picking up only some white color and starting to blend. Smooth blend that I needed. Now we'll wait for this to dry and then bin the leaves over it. My background has trade, so I remove the masking tape. Now, if you move your masking tape slowly under the line goods so that you do not pay it off your people. I texted a little off and on. The thing that has come out, I'll try covering them up with the leaves while repaint. And if I do not and if I'm not able to cover all of these at the end, we'll cover them up with the help of fiber wash. I have picked up some sap green color that is this green onto my palette. And I have made a good consistency of this. I have got enough quantity also to paint the leaves or because we'll be painting a lot of them. Now, I have picked up my size 10 round brush, which has a pointed tip. So you can pick up any brush or according to the size of leaves that you want. And now from your will begin painting with the help of my pointed tip. I have just marked or stem. And now you're randomly will start placing the leaves as we want. So we learned how to make the leaves that is, start with a thin stem, press the belly of the brush and lift up. So just like that. And these patterns or tele B2B. Now I'll mark one stem. So I move my MOOC a bit. And I'll first mark the drafts tempo tool. So can you see I purposely made the stem not just a straight line to give it that natural log. And now we'll just place some leaves randomly. You are free to change the placement of the leaves as per your own preference. So if you see, I called up one of the pink arrows job with the help of a leaf and ask wash is a forgiving medium. Or the green color went onto the pink and the pink is no longer visible there. So that's why it's so fun to play around with quash or postal condos because it gives you the freedom to move and correct your mistakes as well. Now, let's stop in a bunch. So your will place this branch that does, you know, somewhere falling from your leaves would be facing downwards. So we are done with the first layer of the leaves. We'll be adding highlights with a lighter tone of green. But till then the layer dries. I'll correct these errors with the help of white quash. So what you can do is just to pick up or thick consistency of white quash and apply it on the areas where you accidentally applying the paint. So it will dry up and the white quash will hide your mistakes. So can you see now these pins will dry and the white gloss will help us hide our mistakes like this. My first layer of green has almost straight. I have mixed up some white with the remaining green on my palette to create a lighter tone of green. So if you're using any other shade of green, you can just mixing a bit of fight to that same color to a lighter tone. And now we'll be running around our brush near to this template, this, and just give it a variation and on to the list. Add one edge will be moving our brush like this. So giving in or radiation to the leaf I have picked up may round brush size 6, which is again from our shares. And I'm just adding the lighter tone details on any one side and moving it in a little bit exact Minoans or the leaves to give the variation to the leaves. You can pick up whichever side you do wish to give the lighter tone. So somewhere finger upto bottom side somewhere I'm picking up the dog, but so it's completely up to you how you need it. But remember, you have basically all should have dried completely or is a lighter color and all you're not a darker color mode when motion to each other. I forgot to add the lighter tone to distemper. So just adding little lighter tone on one side of the stem, blue. And a little bit on Buddhist smaller stems too, randomly at certain places and onto the stem. So apply the stamping such a way that the dark green and light green shades are visible. Understand? We're done painting our first button. We will wait for this to dry and then move to our next lesson on to the sketch book. 5. CLASS PROJECT 2- OVAL LEAVES BUNCH PATTERN: For our second class project, I will be using obese children off as my background. I just make certain meaning green on my palette, but a lot of weight to get the space to dream Congo. And this time I'll be painting without any masking. So I build mako squinted at even 20 flat brush. So like this, with the help of a flat brush, I mocked a box forced and then just filled in. I'm off my brush or logo to give us food plate. And now we'll wait for this to dry and then paint our pattern on it. This is a rather simple way to paint patterns and enjoy it onto the new law, putting your masking tape and removing it. My background has on the street. Now we been in the patents with these two commerce that is a shade of blue, Prussian blue, and vermillion. You can use Plutarch, you have an, an orangeish order. The dish don't, but we'll be using these two colors. And non-literal pasted phone. So I'll be mixing a little bit of white with my blue and measured lead to run. To pin these buttons, I'll be using my round brush. I'll be using size six, or you can use either a size 4 over 6 as it is available with you. I have just formed a Middle Eastern new sheet and now we'll be painting the factor you're first of my pointed tip and just draw a smalls the loop and then unmarked a five petaled where I'll be giving them. So as to make you not 0. This will be our painting, easier to paint. And now painting these leaves. So these are sort of an oval shaped leaves. Your Similarly really painting the same. Okay, So I've shown you both ways of painting, whichever you find easier in certain leaves, if you're not a finishing, is not about olfactory because of the angle, you could just redo it and give that finishing. Remember to use the ballerina very opaque consistency. Do not add too much water, do you will not get the look of the pardons for though basically order to write just this, the binning. And I get these are dense. I'm just dropping boost. You want to cover up to speed there. And some value could just talk to leaves that just a few. We hadn't been a brute fact and now we'll pick up some more medium color mix to it. White. Again, I'm cheating a base tone of orange to use so that, you know, the entire painting goes and team with a beast. We'll start by her music. So feel free to use the shades as you like. If you do not want, you can use the sheets didn't leave adult adding white and you know, not have o piece to look to this painting. But I told pacer would look move at all. So I am using it an obese still collarbone. And now I'm just dropping some ONE. Small tokens are randomly near to the leaves. I'm using my same brush to add these actins UAV. So I've randomly dropped some so-called patents, but dopey, so shade of orange. Now ones are blue leaves dry. We'll use all the detailer brush that has either 0 or size double 0 and add some details to our leaves him. So my painting has dried and now I am picking up my size double 0 brush until these leaves you will be just adding some white details like this. Adding this would, you know, help us make this pattern look more beautiful. So go ahead and add these details onto all the leaves. Start beeping. CLASS PROJECT 3- FLOWER PATTERS: So for this class project, I'll be using lemon yellow, mixing it with some white quash play. I'll be creating or very light tone of yellow. That is going to be like it's almost going to be a white chip, but just a hint of yellow to it. And that will be a background wash for this. So can you see it's almost a white chair, but it just has a tint of yellow to it. So that's, that's how light our background is going to be. So again, I'm not going to use any masking tape. I'll be using my big sized flat brush to give a box-like structure directly with this. So this is like almost equal to 0. Yellow light piece, too loose shape that we found. So now we're done painting the background, made a bit for this to dry and then paint a pattern onto it. So we didn't write background rice. I prepared a color for the practice. So I have picked up some more shape that is a light hopefully shared. And I'm mixing it with white to create a pastry shade again. So that's my Carlo for the patents. And we'll be needing or darker than this on top for which we'll add more color again to this mixture only to get a darker tone. Also for my leaves, I'll make some olive green color. You can use any dark gene that you have. So I'm just placing some olive green color on the green color on my palette on today. And this also, I will be adding in a little bit of white to get a little bit till dawn so that it goes over then diode team that does the pay scale corners. So I'm just picking up the right that does access your mixing it with the green. So this is a light base to green shade that I needed. Now my background has trade, so we'll begin painting the flowers forest and then add the leaves on the stem. And first pick up top open shape that we created. That does the light for people. Alphas pick up the space, so shade of purple, I'm using a round brush and I'll just draw of war directly with my brush made. These are three petals, flowers like this, and wait for it to dry. Now, I'll add some in our downward don't bending petals. So one will be like this. And maybe another one you're facing towards my left. And now I'll pick up the darker shade of purple differently. Now to add the variations, I have picked up the darker shade that I believe without adding any invite. And we'll paint on other two flowers with this shade and then add highlights with the lighter. Don't want them. So I have picked up this dark shade. So for this flower, if you want, you can do a pencil sketch. So this is like an icon sheep my desk. And let's add one. So remember to have your pencil sketch already light. Otherwise after rebind, it will still be visible. And if you do not need the pencil sketch, you can directly painted do so. Now we'd been this with the darker tone. Remember to have your colors in a very opaque consistency and do not add too much water. Or else David lot to own B that don't vibrant after the try. Let's add one small, tiny room. Decide your SIR model of delivery without any pencil sketch. But even then, if you need a pencil sketch, you can first four and Herbert Benson sketch. Now what do these dry? We'll paint our leaves and then we'll add highlights to these out. Hi, I'm picking up the piston chain of olympian that we created. And then first-time mock stamp to hold these flowers that I need for. My brush has a pointed tip. So this one brush itself works fine for me for doing all the detail things. We have. Altamont, the leaves, the leaves. And onto quite simple. And then after these leaves dry and add some veins to them using or white color or on a much lighter green shade on this. So you can either use a white or lighter green shade then this do. So can you see I'm randomly adding shapes of the leaves and not any specific shapes. I'm just moving my brush freely. So we're done painting the background, but now we look for all of this to try to add details and darker and lighter values so that we give depth to abandon. The time my background is drying, we will again make different sheets that we need. So to my green that I used, I have added a lot more of right, and created a lighter tone, done this to add the details. And I'll be using this dark shade on to the lighter flowers to add details. And this light shade on to the dark of law was to add the details. And we'll begin with adding it onto the leaves. Since my leaves have dried, if you're leave has not dried yet, I would recommend you to read until they are dried completely and then add these details. So these are just small details onto the leaves. That is some random branches and wins. So onto my leaves, I'm done adding the details. Now I'm picking up the dog bone off open. And now I have two small petals too. Stood this C1. And no one knows how now this will happen to love. And as more effectively. And on this one. And add the darker petals on to the bottom. And just do some finishing touches. And now I'll pick up a lighter tone that does the lighter tone that we use today. This is the same column mixed with gouache. And onto the darker ones are the backup. I'll pick up a detailer brush or any small round brush. I'm using my size two silver black velvet brush. You can use whichever brush you have in a smaller size. And I'm picking up the lighter blue one and just marking some lines like this on Buddha darker one. These are random structures. So not what you want, just move freely and enjoy. And now with this same smaller brush, I'll pick up some dark tone and add to this flower humans. So just some lines to add details. One last thing, I'll pick up the right clean and add another radiation to the stems too. And we are done with another simple, easy pattern. I hope you guys are enjoying this. So let's go ahead and paint some more patents. See you in the next class project. 7. CLASS PROJECT 4-ABSTRACT PATTERN: So before beginning with this class project, let's prepare our color palette forest. So for this one, I'm picking up a local and I'll be mixing it with a lot of fights. I'm only taking a little pigment of this color. Second shape that we'll be needing is a more lidar basal green shade of olive green. So I'll be mixing and more of white to this green that is already there on my planet. And I need a skin don't shared. So I'll be mixing more white to this orange that is already on my palette. So you're not, that is the reason I don't wash my palette that frequently because I can reuse these colors oh, when I need on their little pigment. And now with the help of a palette knife, I'm removing the white dough color for my water and I'll add it to your. So I need some for this and I require of bit Huron. My dream will also be needing a darker green for adding the US. And this. So that's all for the white that I need. Now really blend these sheets and create the perfect consistency. So while first begin with blending with this screen corner. And first begin with this, that we need. This much space to yellow is enough, so I'm not adding the remaining go write that as Derek. I can use it any other time onto any other mixing. And for the green similarly. So as this is water-based squash, although fields that have dried, I can reactivate them again by just adding a little bit of water. I can get these based on sheets, mixing it with white. So this is the base green color that I want. Now for this audience, share this, right? So this is the base colors that we'll be needing. A patch from that, we'll be needing dark green. So for this one I'll use sap green color. So when added to your TA directly to the green that stayed on my palette. And so this sap green, again we mixing. So these are the four colors that we'll be needing. That is the base dull shade of your logo. Base to the shader for Lyft green or green shade. And I'm based in skin tone. CLASS PROJECT 6-DAISY FLOWER PATTERN: So before beginning with this class project, I'll just DO prepare a ballot first. I'll be needing of very light shade of green for our background, and then a darker shade of green for adding leaves and the stems, and white color for adding those daisy flowers. So the white that was already there on my palette from our last exercise. I'm just mixing that with the green onto my palette and creating this life disk-based and shade of green. So again, this is just white with a hint of green, so more of fight and just little of pigment. So that will be our base layer. And for the dark green, I like the green your leader on. After we're done painting our base layer. And I'll be adding some white for a disease, will be needing some yellow tone to add birds to have logos. So I'll be using this yellow ocher based on shape that doesn't do my palette on 3D. So again, remember to try to reuse the colors that is on do your palate and do not wish to them. So I always recommend if you're using wash or watercolors, you can always reuse your palate. So avoid washing them too much on cleaning them too frequently. So again, for this class project, I won't be using any masking tape. With the help of my flat brush, I will mark the square and fill it completely with paint. And remember to use a very light tone of green. So since I'm not finding this light enough, I'm adding a bit more of right to this. If you are not confident enough, like this and if you want clean edges only, then you can use a masking tape. But to 0 for these sketching practice, I prefer using it directly like this because it's more fun and just friction free to paint like these. So I'm just running my brush on going again so that the blending is mood. I'm done painting my base layer. Now, I'll wait for this to dry. I'm done painting my base layer non-white. Wait for this to dry and then we'll add some white daisies with white quash and some with the white gel pen. And then some leaves to it. So my base layer has dried and now I have picked up a smaller sized round brush, size six. And we've been some disease. So let's begin with printing random disease. As we learned in the technique section, to paint flowers in different perspectives, stats word will be using your randomly. Do not worry much about what shape your flower is coming out to be. Just enjoy the process. And I'm sure enjoying the process, you will automatically create something that will please your eyes. I'll use my white gel pen to create some flowers with just the Baghdad. So you'll see I'm moving my brush vary randomly and not in any particular format itself. And the remark to see you, and we'll just fill this area of green yard. And now randomly I'll mark some flowers you will like this door. Smarter. Wow, that's it. Now we'll wait for loud. I'll pick up some darker green and being among the leaves. If your paint is very less on to the Padlet, Do not try to add too much water and use it. Otherwise you will not get an a big consistency. So pick it up and not take consistency and added to the center of all the flowers. So if your flower has not dried, then wait for it to dry and then add it. So currently I'm just adding to the flowers that are added with the pen. Now the flowers that have dried, I'm adding to them to do not pick up a very light shade of this color. Otherwise, it will not print with the white flowers. So pick up a darker shade of yellow. Button a piece to share. We're almost done except for that, we'll be adding some buttons, do the leaves with the help of a black pen. So I'm again using my technical pen that as a black marker and do all the leaves, I'll be giving this overlapping. So again, I'm not exactly moving it around the shape of the leaf. I'm randomly moving it, leaving some gaps and somewhere adding. It may not be that everywhere you exactly at the same stem somewhere, you can just leave it like this. So you see I'm moving randomly and I am also placing the stems and the wings vary randomly, not in any specific structure. And with the same marker.
