About This Class


Nurturing Connection as a Family: Mealtimes - Bringing Connection to the Table is a 20 minute class taught by meditation and yoga instructor, mom and previous 4th grade teacher, Sommer Maxwell.

This class is for families looking to connect during mealtimes throughout the day. Families will gather inspiration items from around the house for a mealtime basket. Kids will set the table with the items they choose and parents will connect with their kids over stories, creativity and laughter!

Sommer's love for sharing ideas for connection began in her work with teaching yoga and meditation for families, kids, moms and elementary school teachers. You can find more about her work at

This class helped me to remember again the importance of community/family meal moments.
Great idea with the mealtime basket. We also have a "5-year journal", in which a question is asked every day. I asked it to each of the 3 of us, and we give our answers. (There is barely enough space, but I get it in there). Simple things like "What is your favorite song?" or "What are you most proud of right now?" ... we LOVE comparing answers to last year's answers on the same/similar day! That's become a mealtime thing, for lack of any other time to do it. Lots of laughs and memories.
