About This Class

♦ WELCOME to my 50th Skillshare Class! ♦

This class is special to me.  It's my 50th and I reached 2000 students this week. (November 2016)
Making repeat surface pattern designs tickles an artists creative spot and can provide a new income stream.
In my Design Series: Repeat Surface Pattern Designs 101
I demonstrate how to:

  • Developing ideas
  • Looking for inspiration
  • Setting up AI workspace + art board
  • Creating illustrations
  • Working with color
  • Designing repeating patterns you can use on textiles, stationery, wallpaper, wrapping paper, cell phone covers, pillows, fabrics, rugs, or just about any other surface.

This 50th class is my first INTERMEDIATE LEVEL Design class for students who have been creating patterns for a while and want to learn a more intricate design for winter projects.

This design can be created and downloaded to Spoonflower.com where you can see your designs on fabric, wallpaper, or wrapping paper.
And Society6 allow you to place you designs on:

Both Spoonflower + Society6 allow you to set up an online shop where you can sell your designer textiles + housewares.

for anyone watching this it's easier to "select same" fill color rather than each individual shape

I love art.

Excellent class. Amazed how much I learned and how fun it was. Looking forward to using skills I learned in this class.
The pattern looks so intricate and intimidating at first. However, Aerie explained the steps well to make this gorgeous design.
