About This Class

This class is for everybody that still don't know how to begin to develop his/her personal style, so I presented my own way to draw with the main objective to inspire you! On this time, I will use both vectors (for the sketch, done on Adobe Illustrator) and mainly pixels (done on Paint Tool SAI). The steps are: concept, sketch, colors, volume, shadows and blue and white brightness. Let's draw!

Teacher

I graduated in Technology in Graphic Arts (almost the same as Graphic Design) by the Federal Technological University of Paraná (Brazil) and also completed a Post Graduate on Comics and a Post Graduate on Game Design. Right now I'm trying to improve my drawing skills. It's not only something I believe I'm good at, but also my passion, although still have a lot to learn. And by doing that I discovered another thing I love: animation. Well, in fact, tradicional animation. Check out my Youtube channel for more videos.

1. Intro - what is this class about: do you? Hi, everybody. My name is Gabriel and owns Project Plan to explain the process behind my artwork. But this time there are no victors except for the initial step. For the rest, I will use a process that reminds. But most people could relate to. Use in the objective year is to show I step by step off my process inspired to develop yours and maybe even still a step or two again, The same thing happened to me as they tried to mimic those artists that I admire and ended up creating a process at the same time very similar to theirs, but unique in some other way. This video is for all artists that White haven't developed. They're old method to do their work inspired him. So let's get to it. 2. First step: concept: this first step. Easy quote through my proctor process. As I tried to imagine. What is the idea behind my character? What is she or he supposed to be doing? Where does she or he live? What is the goal that the character is supposed to achieve in life? Off course. You don't need to answer all those questions to start developing your character, but the more the better. To sum it up, I try to think, What is the concept that a want to achieve with that character? He's E. R. She's supposed to look cute or menacing. What will be the gender on? Then you can start thinking what the character will look like. 3. Second step: sketch: again equal to my vector process. It's time to collaborate, ideas for the appearance off your character. I usually draw a quick sketch and have a briefing ocean over my character. And then I tried toe work the lines better for all these. I used the blue color and use up to this point the vector process only so you can say they have no difference at all until now. As I said when committing the vector process, this character is not my creation. She is the mascot off, um, competition contests, which the participants had to apply their own method. So I initially I had to choose between, proposes the one from the back, the one from the site, and they went from the front, which was the chosen one as I tried true defining the lines. Better toe, work, the lines better. I waas unsure what to do with her left arm, so I made a trip, poses just for him, one flexed out and her hand right above her head. Another one. Hold the ways we're hint where you removed her head and another one that Waas chosen with her arm flexed out. But this time, person right in front, off her head. And you can noticed on the next videos that I switch sites for both the her and the Cape because they thought that waas a more natural I'm more fluid movement. 4. Third step: colors: Now it's time to pick the colors. The steps are pretty much the same as the vector process, but the visuals start to change. First, you have to decide if you want toe by a caller skin where one stands out from the rest, or if you want a more harmonious skin, where all the colors have the same tone here on this example again, as this is not my creation, I just had to work to adapt to my drawing style and follow the colors, as they previously were. Each waas easier. But here I don't tend to create numerous skins as we are working with pigs us in not a flat color, which makes the task more difficult. Instead, I just make a quickly color sketch to have a brief notion off what we'll look like. For example, this one over here is a sketch became this one over here, so if I have to make changes, I usually do it here before the photo 5. Fourth step: volume: I believe that come the most Liberace part When the step which you simulate the volen. This time you won't have the outline. Try imperfections. So you want to make as perfect as you can. This layer is the one that stands out the most as the rest is going to be on top of it. But with the opacity below 100%. So make sure you spent as much time as you need on this part. I was like to give the few like it was painted. I never go too far for owned The tone that I'm working with. I was very impressed with the way Gen Z did. Her work here is an example off again that she was responsible for the artwork and that game, his best chin. I'm sure you can see the resemblance between her work and mine. She also likes choose saturated colors, which I like to think that most off the time works perfectly. But for orders, it may not have bean the best choice as we can see here. That's kind off Messi 6. Fifth step: shadows: Actually, the character is a really fine as it is. It's finished. What I do forward own is work on the shadows to try to give the character on more treaty style. For that, I worked on two separate layers in the first. I work similarly to what I did own the vector process. I pick a darker color and is likely more saturated than the one I currently work with. I tried to set them has flat, and when I finished, I said this layer more true, more to play and low. It's opacity to value off 50% or less. The first layer is done. As for the second year containing the shadows, I try to work similarly true. What an extras became known here is an example. He drew mostly superheroes and on a realistic away. We thought the outlines, as you can see, and the way that his characters Kinch life, was that he did not use blank for the shadows. But it's complimentary Instead. For example, let's see what it is. The complimentary off pure red, it's degree, and what would be the complementary off yellow? It's blue, naturally, the complementary off blue. He is the only hero and the complementary off green. It's the only red now back to Alex Ross work. He used, for example, for some part off the picture that is red. It's complimentary, like the Super May escape accused Green as hard as it comes to believe. And there is a theory that for you to chief, you're black. You have choose the complementary off the color you're working with. Now we know that is just a theory, and the best you can get is a neutral, dark great. But that is the theory that extra s used on his work. And that is exactly what we're going to use for hours back to our work, the same away that you previously said, the corners fledge through the first layer off the shadows. You can set them as well for the new earlier, and I really advise you to peak the colors that are complementary. Trudeau's You had purposely chosen a few steps back on the stage that you picked out the colors. Now let's see defined or result. - When you're finished, you can set do layer also to me to play and blow its capacity to value off 30 or less. The values are not fixed. You can big one that suits you and the shadows are done. All that is left are some details. 7. Sixth step: blue and white brightness: next step would be to sweat a blue light or simulate one like it was coming from behind the character. For that, you paint being off light in this site, truce to do the shadows and the caller off the bean is yours, but I usually do it like bluer light blue. It's interesting how the darker it is, the color off the shadow, the more brightness we appear and the color off the background matters, too. Again, the Dockery's more in hence tint. The color off the light we appear trade up. Finally, you can use the razor to make it smoother and narrow the way you want and can set the boat off the layer to a scream. If you think that works better that way for last, I usually create another early year just for the white brightness that includes the ice. Any medal that the character is wary, like the book Oh, the brooch. And in this case, this worked and the blade itself in the cross court. If you think that's not decorated year, that's going to make the character look weird. That's fine. Your call. But I like to do, at least for the ice, although in the upcoming example, it turned out to really look weird. I am. So you're about to see so I removed. 8. Example: No, that you know the process. In theory, it's time to put it to the test. And I represent a time lapse off me, applying the whole process. Each step we've been name it for you understand what I'm doing. So let's do it. - Yeah , - Okay . - Yeah , - E yeah. 9. To sum it up: So to sum it up, my act work process similarly, Inc presents to you. The steps are followed. Sketch doing vector colors, volume shadows, blue light in brightness. So that's it.
