1. Introduction: Hello. My name is Alexandra and them a professional musician. I'm appears to student at the Music University. I play the piano and I also sink. I designed this course for music lovers and for beginners who want to read a master rhythm like pros. In this course, I will tell you all you need to know about the rhythm. We will do exercise together. And I promise you that by the end of this course, you will read and feel musical rhythm like a pro. So if you're ready, let's start our course. 2. 1.Time signature. Note values : Hello, My name is Alexandra. Welcome to our first lesson in this lesson. Who will talk about time signature time signature. It's also called the measure signature in a musical score. It appears at the beginning off the peace as the time symbol, and it is very useful in organizing music. It consists off two numbers. So, as you can see, we have here one time signature. This is another one. This is another one, and we can have other time signatures in a musical score. But for now, let's see what this numbers are. The first number, the red one, it says. How many beads we have in one bar? What is a bar? The bar is the space between two bar lines you will see in the musical score. You have this bar lines that help organized music here as well. So bar lines and between the ball eyes, we will have to bits. Here we will have three bits. Here we will have four bits in a bar. So a bar, another bar, another bar. So let's see. We will have two bits in a bar, another two beats in a bar and the nodded to bits in a book, and here we will have tree beats in a bar, another tributes, another treatments, equal meats, four bits, another forbids, and so on. No, if you want to count this, it could be one and two and one and two and one and two. If you have this time signature, we will have one and two entry and one and two and tree and one and two and treat. And this is the walls lets their hands Okay, so if we have this time signature, if it says four here, the first number is four. We'll have one and two and three and four and one and two and three and four. This is the way we count if we have the first number in peacetime signature, too. Three or four. So the first number from the time signature says how many beats we have in one bar? Let's talk about the second number, this green one. The second number is a symbol for the note value, but what is no better? So we've talked about beats in a bar, but we have to give the bait a certain value. This is how music is born, so That is why we have to know the note values. We give the bead a certain value, and we get music. So we have here off family tree note value Family tree. The first value I want to tell you about is the whole note. The hold up is like the big Father. You can be divided into 2/2 notes. This is 1/2 note. This is another one we say half notes because the whole note is divided into 2/2 notes. It's pure meth now. The next value is the quarter note. We say quarter notes because this whole note is divided into 4/4 notes. Or we can say that this half note is divided into two quart in its It's a family tree, I've told you, and then we say eight notes. Why? Because we have eight notes In a whole note. That means that this whole note can be divided into eight eight notes. Or we can say that this quarter note is divided into 2/8 notes. Or we can say that this half note is divided into 48 notes. So, math, it's pure math. You you can see everything here. Then we have 16 notes. We say that because we have 16 16 notes in a whole note. We always go back to the home of This is a big father and we say half no, I want to note a note and 16. We also have symbols for this one for four. Whole note to for half. Note 4 4/4 Note. Eight for eight. Note. 16 for 16 notes. This symbols are used in the time signature. It's the second number, so we have this symbol for a certain value that we give to the beat. So if we have four as the second number in a time signature, it means that we will have quieten oath as a beat. The most common time signatures used The quarter knows as a beat as a value for the beat. That is why we have to know the family three for the quarter note so you can see it here. This is kind of a family tree for the quarter, so 1/4 knows it's equal, or it can be divided into two eight notes, or you can also be divided into four 16 notes. We also have to know that 2/4 notes equal 1/2 note. So this is a family tree for the half note. Here it is. You can just you can just see it here. This is the family tree for the half note so the half note can be divided into two quart finals. Or it can be equal or divided into 48 notes or into 8 16 notes. But this is a tree, a little tree. This is a little tree. This is the big tree. This is what you have to know. So this note values are important because we always give the beat a certain value in the time signature. And this is our music is created, but sometimes we don't use music all the time. In a musical score, we sometimes use silence for sellers. We have rests. We use rests for certain note values, and we get silence in music. And sometimes Sallis in music is very beautiful. So we have for the whole note. We have this symbol. It's arrest that it's equal to the whole boat. For the half note, we have this symbol. It's arrest equal to the half note for the quarter notes. We used this rest, So it's silence that it's equal to the quarter Note. Now here I want to show you that the eight note can be written like this. It notes with, like this all like this with a flag, and we have this two rests that are equal to this eight notes. So Silas for eight notes, and we can rise. This 60 notes with flags as well, with two flags as well, and this four rests are equal to this four 16 notes. So 1 60 note is equal to want rest like this one symbol like this. So this is how we write silence in a misko score with rests, So this is the symbol for the quarter note. So in this the time signature, we'll have to quarter notes in a bar, another 2/4 notes in a bar and not a 2/4 notes in a bar and so on. Now, if we see Tree and four, this four is another symbol for the quarter. Note. It's the same thing is the same note value, but we will have 3/4 notes in a bar so one and to and treat okay one and to and tree and one and to and Tree. And if we suggest that signature, it means we have four quarter notes in a bar so and to and truly for and and to and three and four so on. So the first number says how many beats we have in a bar and the second number. It's a symbol for the note value. So four it's a symbol for quarter note. Eighth, It's a symbol for eight knows and so on. This is our for today. Thanks for watching. 3. 2.Simple rhythm in 2/4: Hi guys. Welcome back to our course in this lesson. We will learn several times in 24 So as you remember, this is the time signature. The first number says how Maney beats we have in a bar and second number says what a note value we give to the beat. So here we have two parties Hutz Bar. So everybody has to have to question its. But we can have divided cardinals or United Quarter notes because it has to be two cardinals in a box. So let's start with simple reels. The most super freedom. It's this one. So it's a 2/4 notes in a bar. Thanks says this. So this is the most simple rhythm we can have in this time signature. So if we want to count or play or sing this rhythm, it will be This is the peak is a part of. It has to be equal. So yet if you want to sing this, it could be something ready. So to nos another super rhythm, this one So that the note We know that to court in its equal, if we re not unite to party notes, we have 1/2 So this one, it will be alone. Note. It's a simple rhythm to, for instance, Signature and it will be something on to. So we have to keep this note for as long as we say one into. So if we sing, because this is a big working. So if we see this one, people be like this. So it's a long nose, the last four to these. So again. So this one is I think this one is one and two 12 It's a another of rhythm. Super rhythm is this one. We can divide the quarter notes into eight notes, so we will have this one. It's equal to 1/4 note, and this one is equal to 1/4 note as well. As you know, from the I didn't notice value less so. If we see this riddle, we have to sing or play or I know this is the beat, this apartment and you have we have to eight notes in a chord. So again we will begin from this rhythm and we will go to the end with the same big that it's 1/4. I will see how the fortunate is united and then divided. So from the beginning, So so this to eight notes are equal to apartment. So if you want to come, this wanted to be one. And to this is the way we come. The eighth note one and two and to and from the meeting want to 1 to 1 and two. Now let's see whenever possible reading we can mix these values so we can have so we can have quarter note and 2/8 notes. This is a possible rhythm in a bar so we can have one and two and again gone and to And if you want to send this, it will be so. This one is a cardinal and this you are a huff. This one is 1/2 overcome. You know that this one is another half court. So no. 12 Another possible mixture. I know we can makes the eight notes as the first to be and 1/4. That's right. Don't get so it could be like this one to get one too. So we want to sing. It will be like this. Oh, no, no, no. This is part B. Yeah. Now let's see how this rhythm will be from the beginning to the end. So here I have the B parking and I was seeing then on today, okay. With la la la or something many my anything. So from the beginning, it will be like this. And again we have I used the beat here. This is a partner. So no, this is a way the rhythm goes. You have to keep the beat equal as just divide or, you know in certain values. Now, as you remember, we have rests for certain varies so we can use rests as well. This silence in music so we can have these rest. It is equal for partner, but it's science. And then we can use the 40 or we have Oh, we can have arrest and another arrest because they, this rested its equality, partnered with this one as well. So we will have to partner in a bar. It's perfect. This one is equal to, but it's silence and it will be Silas. We're starting up and then another part. So it will be something like this. This one is one, and then the other one is to But here I have to just be beside so it will be so. So we have to decide when we see rests and again. And I would clap again. This is the part is the beat for people of this? Yeah. So we will see rest. We just have to be so we could have rests for it. Note as well. So let's see how this bar would look if you would have this note fairly replaced by rest, it would be something like this Arrest equal to the eighth note. Then this eight note it would be all alone. So we write it like this with a flag because we don't We don't have this lie. We don't have the first. So we're We're stuck with this one as a single eight note and then the other two age notes just like this. So how would you How would you come this one? So we know that this is one and two. Now we have to be silent when we say and to then So this is a big the quarter notes and he was saying, No, no, no. And again, no. No. So it's and to and we just divide the bead into two halfs the first half is Sinus. And the 2nd 1 is a no door. I know some and again and to and this one was and to end again and to end. And this one is and to And this is what the rests rest does not see how this rhythm sounds From the beginning to the end I will use my head Be counter I would just mark departure and I would sing the So this is a and, uh no. Uh huh. So this is a separate them into four. This is it. Again. It's nowhere. So on and to and to No. What else can we have? We can have. Oh, for well, rest for Martin Note. And then we can have I made. No! Ah! Arrest for Big Gate. So this this is kind of a quiet and to a nose that this one would be silent Silence And this one would be senses. So he doing this one and two. So now if you want to sing, I will see this This room it will be like this And now we mute this one and this one It would be like this. It will be send again I want to show you another super rhythm into four in the North Value Lesson. We've talked about 16 notes, so four 60 notes 16 rounds we're equal to. So we need 8 16 notes to have two apartments. So this 20 sequel to questions as well. So now we have to divide the party into four. Oh, people notes the C C. Note. So it would be like this when we see it or played. This is a big Four quote sounds so Okay, so again, 1234 This is that I wanted to for want So this is that the 16 note So we can make this one with anything you see right here. So that's makes the 16 note, please. Mm. This is another possible bar. So this one sequel to quit this one is 1/4 so we have to quarter notes in this bar. It's a perfect it's perfect bark. So let's see how this part would be. So again, it is the big no no So one tea tree for want to treat for and again. No, no, no, no. Now we can makes the 60 notes with the eight notes or we can makes it way to arrest. You can do any combination you want as long as they have to. It's in a bar. And the beach. He's 1/4 knows. Okay, this is offered today. Thanks for my 4. 2 Ex.: Hello. Welcome back. Let's see how exercise from lesson to goes. Please pause this video and do it yourself. And then let's do it together. I set the Metrodome to 45 beats per minute, and it goes like this one and two, and we be being Uh huh uh uh uh That, uh uh, uh, That that duck, uh, that, uh uh uh uh uh uh, This is the exercise from lesson to 5. 3.Simple rhythm in 3/4 and 4/4 : Hi, guys. Welcome back. This is our third lesson and say we will talk about simple rhythms in treat for so everything we've learned before in our previous lesson applies here in the tree four time signature. So as you can see, we have to have three bits in a bar ever be has 1/4 note than you. So, like in our previous lessons that we had, we had to go to a bar. Here. We have to have 3/4 notes in a bar so you can divide the party. No three can united or you can do all sort of things. The important stuff is to have 3/4 notes in a bar. This is the only thing you have to keep in mind. Here it is three quarts notes in a bar. Here's the bar line and here this north value, the half note has to quite a nodes. This is arrest. You have to remember all the stuff we've learned in our previous lesson. And the bottom line. Here we have 1/4 note and 1/2 notes of together they are 3/4 notes here have divided the quarter note into 2/8 notes and have 3/4 notes in a bar but divided into eight notes. And here we have 3/4 notes in a bar but divided into 60 note. So this is 1/4 note. This is another quarter note and this is another one. So let's see how this rhythm sounds. I will just clap. The beat is 1/4 note and I will see with a lot of freedom. Okay, so and through this is the beat. And so this is how this rhythm sounds Now I will mark the beat with my hands so that you can see where where I am. And they were seeing the rhythm. Okay, so no, no. So this is a simple reason. In 34 Now I want to share something new. If you have half. Yes, quite a note. You will have three means if you want to write these tree bits together in a single No, thank you. He will use this north value. This is dotted half it means that it has adult and this door it's equal to half off this north value. So the Daut adds to the first value half off its then. So every time you see this North value, you have to know that it is equal to three quiet defense, this nobility country, three equipment. So you have to keep it long while you saying it's a long North. Oh, so I have three bits in this new open. Now let's see how a simple with them in 44 would sound so. Everything we've learned before applies here as well. The only thing that changes is the fact that you have to have four bits in the bar. So for quite notes in a bar, so you can see we have to have four part notes in a bar. And then I mixed the partners divided or replaced with arrest or two cardinals united into 1/2 note. I did. I did a mixture off everything we've learned before. Here you have the party notes, but the bottom line here we have to have notes because Hoffman it's equal to 1/4 note. So to partners in their self knows two cardinals in this half. No, together we have four or notes in a bar. Hugh, this 2/8 notes are quirky knows this to eight notes are another quarter knows and this rest . Maybe you remember this rest. I mean, you have to remember it from our note value lesson. This rights arrest replaces 1/2. No. So to beats. So we have 4/4 notes in a bar. Four beats in a bar. This is the whole note. The whole north is equal to 4/4 notes. So this knows value is equal to a bar in for four. As you can see, if you're so it has 4/4 notes in it. Do you write a bit? This is the rest that replaces the whole No. So we have this rest for the whole bar. There is a question of this is another quarter. So 12 three and four quarter notes, then one, 23 four. Working notes. Here is what we've learned before. 12 and 3/4 notes and four here. We have 2/4 notes. So too, this is three. And this is for quarter notes in a bar again. The whole note that lasts for four beats, four parking notes. So let's see how this simple rhythm in 44 sounds, I will use my head as a beat counter like this one. So this is a partner is a beat, and I will say Ta ta ta! For every north value, I won't say this time so you can see how you can do this. Exercise is on your own without singing. Maybe you just want to say that our a lower So this begin in a slow tempo. I mean, I just come snow or so you can You can see everything I do. 123 and four and oh, uh um uh though Oh, uh, So this is how this simple rhythm should sound. You always have to keep in mind that the time signature says how many beats having a bar and what? No, no value. You should get to beat. So we have four beats in a bar, and a big is a cork in it, so you don't have to break this rule. You always have to have 4/4 notes in a bar. I don't care if the cardinal is divided. Divide it or replaced with a arrest, or you have 2/4 notes united or 4/4 notes united here or three coordinates united here. I don't care. You always have to have 4/4 notes in a bar in the tree. Four time signature. You always have to have three and it can mix anything as you wish. If you know the north values very well and you keep the beat steady. This is it. This is a super rhythm. See you next time. Bye. 6. 3 Ex.: Hello. This is exercise one from less and three. Please do it yourself. And then Lister together again. I set the Metrodome to 45 beats per minute, and it goes like this one and two a three and one, and we be game. Uh, uh huh. Doc. God, the God that Uh huh. The the that duck, Uh, the the the the Got That. Uh huh. Uh uh uh uh. Now, let's see how exercise to from Lesson three goes again with the Metra non set to 45 bits permanent one and two and three and four and one and two. And we begin. God, that, uh uh oh, the uh huh uh that, uh uh, the, uh ah, uh uh uh uh uh, that dog the the uh huh uh, this was exercise to from lesson three. 7. 4.Tied notes: Hi, everyone, welcome back in this lesson will talk about tied notes. So what is the time? This is a tie. It's a curve that unites two notes with the same pitch. There is a confusion of people make. This is a tie, and that is a slur that unites notes that don't have the same pitch. So be careful to not do this mistake. So a tie is occurred that unites two notes with the same bitch. This type effects rhythm. The slur doesn't fact rhythm. When you're tied to both of those together, you get a single over you longer. So as you can see here we have a party and another part, and we tied together and we get a single value. You will have to sing or play a single note value that it's equal to the sum off this, too. So we would have 1/2. So this cart tied with another quarter equals. But Hoffman So we will play or see a single off value that it's that the some off this team , as you can see here we have 1/2 note tied to 1/4 note. So together the equal tree so How do you write 3/4 notes as a single value? Let this a daughter heartened. You remember the door ads to the no how he's been. So we have the heart note we have off its value, added I worked in So here we have 3/4 notes as a single where we see days notes tied together. We imagine that it's a single no value that it's the some off this, too, So two plus one equals three. Here we have 2/8 notes and 1/4 so we can tie together this agent with this question it so this two notes will be played as a single north value. The some off this, too. So this eight note This is separated from the rest, and this suit will be played together as a single no friend as adulthood quarter the door adds to the note. Half hope it's there, so hop off. The quarter is the eight, and we can write this to time. Together we can write them down as a dotted quarter, so this is a quite enough united with eight now. Now let's see how this tied notes effect, but that freedom. So let's see, I will count the beat with my hands. This would be the better. And I will say we talked up top. Is everything okay? So you will see how the tight notes affect the rhythm. So run four and so the, uh So here we have this eight note united to this half note. So you have to have a long value. The starts here and ends que So again. Uh, so we have four beats. But this then use are played together as a single, awful alone one. It starts here and then it lasts as long as the some off the suit. And again every four so and four and the and then we go further. This is a daughter happened. We don't eat, has stricken notes in it. So So as you can see, we can have the type Note values, different bars. It doesn't matter. We have to play this too as a single. Then it doesn't matter that we start coming here with one again. It's another. It's another bar. It doesn't matter. We have to remember that we have to play here the no value equal to the sum off this too. So This is one cardinals and this. The half knows it's 1/4 to quarter. So together have 3/4 notes. They're separated by the barman, but it doesn't matter. So here we will have Juan in 23 on for and wanted to. These two will be played together. So again, from from here and again from the beginning to the end, we tied notes. Oh, this out time notes affect the riddle. Okay, Another possible type notes. You know, the 60 notes If we unite or tied together the 1st 2 values, these two values will be equal to 18 So we will have thes two notes tied together as an eighth note and this to 60 notes played separately normally. So this will be without a tie. It's one end. And if we tied together this too, we will have one. Me and so one without a time. One. Me and wheat a tie, Bonnie. And so we will like together the 1st 2 values we can tie together the last two values the last 2 16 note. So we'll have weed out of time one and weak a tie one on, because you have to get used to wine. And so here we can write it down as to 16 notes and this to 60 knows together. Doesn't good news can be divided into two. 16. You have to know the North Valley is very well to know how they combined or how they divide . So the type notes won't be a problem for you. Now let's do some exercises with everything we've learned before. So we start with this rhythmic exercise without ties and then we will act ties and we'll see how. How will things change? So they start from the beginning to the end. I will come the big with my hands as usual. So Ron and and and I will see talk up top for the north face. I added of the beats here so that maybe it is It is clear for you. So this is one. This is to this mystery. This is for here. This is one and two. This is three ethicists for here. This is one and two and three and four. Now let's see how this figure size sounds one to and down. So here let's right, right. There is no value down difference. Maybe to make it clear so we can write it down like this. We talked before about it as a what? No. And in 18 0 so this is off critical today. Eight now. And this one, it's equal toe apart. So together we have this. No. So we have here one one, and here we have to and and here we start three. So there's no value. It's equal to one. What, enough. This does it equal to second beat. Hop off the second bead. This is another half off the second, Ethan here we start with the turkey. So one and two want to. Now let's let's do this again and again. Uh, so this is one and two and three and four. And okay, now let's at type notes. Let's see, I will have. But I'm a tight here. I want to add breaking bad guys and you re warm. Oh, we can have one here and one here. Now let's see how this exercise sounds with type notes with our edit type notes. So again, this is the beat. Comfort have four beats in a bar for 40 baht and I will say talked up top for the note values. So from the beginning, one bar without anything to three and four. Okay, so here I ty to just, you know, famous together without a tie. It waas uh and we thought with this time it's, uh oh, so So this is Newt. It is united to this one. So it's a single. Now let's go further. We will do this. Bar readout, tied notes and then we will see how it sounds weak. So without now, let's have just this to notes types together without this one. Just this one. Okay, just this one for now and let's see how it sounds. So it will be so in my mind it goes when I say it out loud because there types together. So in my mind, when I see love, it's so again with this type notes without this one that now let's see if we have this one as well. How would it be with this type notes? So, without tightness, wait all the time notes. So we ask you see in my mind that but when I see love out loud, it is to know various together. So again, from here we decide Notes one and two and three and four And let's get to another exercise . Now we have three based in a bar here we had for tomorrow. As you can see, this is one. This is to this street. This is one into this is this is again wanted to. This is one and two and three. Let's do this exercise without type notes and then we will add fighting. That's so John. And not that, uh the the the No. Let's add Mr Together this together and this that so get in my mind, I say. But I say it out loud. But in my mind I see so again this bar with the type notes and we go further that that the so in my mind it. But when I see that loud, it's it's easy. Have you just have to unite the values in one single failures and it don't separate them? You just have one No failure that it's longer. Let's get to the next exercise. This is 24 so we will have two beds in a bar. I want to and to. And 12 and one and two. We will do it without time, notes that then we will add time. So go. Uh so So this is without type. Now let's add thigh nodes here and you. So let's see how this exercise sounds. Let's see how sounds wheat by notes. Oh, so in my mind is so no But when I see No, it's so again from the beginning and I go for so oh, so without this time it's we decide it's tiredness two of those together and the less bar is without This star is so and we'll tie. It's it's equal to 1/4 note in my mind, I say. But when I see that love are united thems Oh, this is awful today Thanks for watching bomb. 8. 4 Ex.: Hey, guys, this is lesson for exercise. One at first, Do it yourself and then Lister together, the metronomic is set to 45 beats per minute one and two. And we be, uh uh, uh uh That the, uh, that the, uh That the, uh Now, let's see how the second exercise from less and four sounds methanol is set to 45 bits permitted one and two and three and one, and we be game Got the, uh that got the, uh the the that the the the uh huh. That, uh, that the, uh uh huh. That, uh uh, That Now please do with yourself the exercise three from Listen four. And then let's do it together. Metronomic at 45 bits per minute. One and two and three and four and one and two and begin. Uh, uh uh God, that, uh, uh That uh huh uh, God, that the, uh that that that that Ah, uh uh the that That, uh, that that that that, uh, the duck. So those were the exercises from lesson for by 9. 5.6/8, 9/8 and 12/8: Hello. Welcome back. In this lesson, we will talk about time signatures that use the eight as the beat. So as you can see, we have 68 98 and 12 8 The 68 time signature uses the A s the beat. So in a bar we will have six eight notes. I am marked the eighth notes with this little red stars. So you can see that it is easier for us to organize the eighth notes in three and three, so you can see them better. So 123456 So in a bar will have six acres. We will use the eight No s the beat. This is a difference between this time signature and the other ones we've learned before The other time signatures we've learned before were using the quarter note s to be. But now we will use the eighth. No, as to be nothing changes. So in the 68 time signature, we have 68 notes in a bar and organize them like this. 123456 So three and three, it is easier to see that another possible away to organize the beats of the note values in the 68 time signature. Um, we could have this three. Their news types together. We've talked about so it could have them tied together. So we were right there like this. Like a daughter Course. You know, we've learned that before, So the daughter quite know, has 38 notes in it. It is equal equal to three Asians. So 123 tied up together in this court dotted quarter note. 123 and 456 We can have 38 notes. So these tree types together in this quarter and other 3 18 So gone 23456 I will count the eight. Note the beat with my hands and I will see we have a father freedom so that you can understand what I'm talking about. So the no is 12 3456 So this is from account. So 1234512345 So we organize them in 33 Another possible time. No values. We can find any organized that we can find. This what two notes. It means that it sounds to eight notes and but single eight notes like this. So this is another possible way off organizing notes that use in the 68 So 12 in this 1123 And we could have this possible. Organizing organizational notes. So 123456 So why to three 456? So the eight know is it's in charge here. The eight note. It's the big Father and you have to have 68 notes in every bar. The way we organize that, it is very important. Three. Back three. So because we organize them like this three and three, we will have this possible. No value, this possible rhythmical pattern that the years this one is Well, now let's see the 98 time signature. We have the same way off organizing the age Notes. 123456789 So let this one to um, Let's write something else here. Right this pattern. What? 23 456 456 That here. That's right. This won this battle. So 123456789 This is the way we organize things. So let's see how this rhythm sounds. I will come the age of the beat with my hands and I will say we papa really so 67 Oh, and again because we have 3338 notes. But you can feel that we have sort of walled speaking. So it's 12345678 So every every first a note from the pattern from three, it's kind of a little bit more important. So it's 123456 And here is 123456789 The 1st 1 is the big boss, but the other ones. This is an accident. We can use that to mark the fact that it is more important. So it's 123456789 and reorganize things very well like this. Let's try something else here. We can have this one it dot So the Doctor Cardinal has three notes in it. We can have this one as well. So 123456 Some Here he's 106 and here something. The house. So when you see this, it's a note, a note and the last eight notes from the three Piper is divided into 2 60 notes. You know that already. So you just have to. It's like a puzzle, you know, just add pieces to the puzzle, but you have to organize things in three eight notes. So 12345678 not mine. So this is not This is so 1234567899 Now let's see how this freedom 98 sounds one. This is a way this rhythm sounds. Let's see what the truck aid is about. We use the eight note again as the lead. I will have 12 8 notes in a bar. 123456789 10 11 12 We organized eight notes again. 3333 So for groups off three like this one 123 456 Eso Now let's try something different because you already know 123456789 10 11 This is easy. If we just add, it's easier. Let's get something out so that you can if you see how the time signature. Eight As eighth note as the beat looks and feels I ever this ever and this pattern and this one because this one is the same with this one because those are the most common ones. So when you see 68 that stands signature, you will. You will certainly see this Bethan, this one This one This one. So there are certain common patterns that you will see in the time signature. So if you have the are trained for the force of certain battles, you know how many eight notes. But nothing has. So if you see this no value, you will know that it implies 38 So you know that it's 123 or for 456 you would already know that. So it is a long nose that implies three eight. So a group off 38 notes and this easy if you train your mind, your eye for that. So here we have 123456789 10 11 12. Now let's see something else that we can find in this kind of time signature. I get this one. We can find this one. So 123 four, 56 Easy. A bath of 38 Notes. Seven No, I so 12345678 night. We can replace the agents with rests. Let's see this one. So 123456789 then 11 12. So this is a rest for the quarter note. So the court note has to 18. You already know. Okay, let's see how this rhythm sounds really in 12 8 So I will just again, I just come to the beef. The eight note this time the big easier with my hands one, 67 you. So here is because you have breasts that replace the note fans. The important thing you have to remember when you see 69 or 12 in a time signature is that the way we organize the beads is different from the time signatures that have to three or four. So this time, signature this one, this one organized the beads in groups off three is the same thing with the 64 Maybe you will find a signature with six quite knows so. 64 It is also organized in groups off three. You have three cardinals. Another three questions. So 123456 The big will be different. It won't be a NATO. It will be 1/4 but it doesn't matter because 69 and 12 divide into three divided we three. So because we can divide this numbers at three, it means that we can have people groups off three bills. Here we stopped about the beat, the eight note as the big. So we will have groups off three eighth notes. You're a swell groups off three. So this is the important thing you have to remember. 69 and 12 requests a son wait to organize the beat. And the eight from the thank signature says that the Beetle be eight. So here 68 19 a Barkley 98 notes in a bar and here, 12 notes in a bar organized in that certain way I talked about This is all for today. Thanks for watching by 10. 5 Ex.: Hi there. This is the first exercise from less and five. Please do it yourself at first and then is do together for this time signature. I will set the methanol to 60 beats per minute. 123456 And God! God! God! God! Uh, uh God, Doc. Uh uh, uh God, the that, uh uh uh uh uh Uh huh. Got got the, uh the cut that, uh uh uh uh The, uh uh uh uh Go, Go. Let's hear how exercise to from less and five goes again with the Metrodome set to 60 beats per minute. 123456789 Uh huh, uh huh. The, uh uh uh uh Got that. Uh huh. Uh huh. Uh uh uh But the, uh the the, uh the the the that. Uh huh. Ah, uh the, uh, got doc got that? Uh, the uh huh Uh uh uh uh uh uh. Our last exercise from less and five is exercise three in 12 8 methanol set as 60 beats per minute. 12 34 56789 10 11. God. Uh, uh huh. The god that, uh uh, the uh uh. That uh huh. God, Uh, uh huh. Uh huh. Doc. But the the, uh the god, uh uh uh, Those were three exercises from less than five. 11. 6.Tied notes in 6/8, 9/8 and 12/8: Hi. Welcome back in this lesson, we will do some exercises in 6898 and 12 8 As you already know, the 69 and 12 time signatures have a certain way to organize the beads in groups off three . So when you start to play or sing a musical piece that has 68 a za time signature or six foreign or anything that starts with 69 or 12 something has to happen in your mind. You have to organize the beads in groups off three like this, so you have to see the rhythm organized in groups off three beats here. The big isn't eight. Note like this, so as you can see, we have 123! 123123123 123 456123456123456 123 456 Go on 23456 123456 So this is what has to happen in your mind. You have to know the note. That is very well. Just group the bids into into groups off 33 bids three bits Number three bits. Here is the same story. Three bids. The B is a neighbor, so 38 notes. Wanted to 38 notes. Want to 338 notes. 123 Want to three? I want to three. I want to three. Want to three. Want to three? And the bottom line just says that the three bits are over. 123 123 123 Here. The same problem. 123 one on 23 Wanted three. Want to through Want to three? Want to three. 123 I want to do three. This is it. This is what has to happen in your mind when you start to sing or play a score that has 69 and 12 times signatures. Now let's see how this exercise in 68 sounds One, 34 uh, six. Oh! Oh, oh, oh oh! Uh uh uh This is all of this exercise goes everything you've learned before. You have to apply here, So nothing changes just the way the beats are organized in groups off three. And hear the beat isn't eight. Note as we, as we learn in our previous lesson So 123456 1234 56123456 123456123456123456 not see the 98 exercise. Let's see how it goes. So 123456789 Uh huh. Uh oh. This has got how this 98 exercise goes. So 12345689 1234567891 3456789123456789 Now let's see how this exercise in 12 8 goals So one, 3456789 10 You haven't. Duh. Uh huh. So 123456789 10 11 12. 123456789 10 11 12. So then you 12. This 2/8 notes are divided into 2 16 notes. So I would be Everything you read before applies here. You just have to group of the beads into groups off three organized them in groups of three . Here you have two groups off three because three plus feet six. Here you have three Greek groups off three. So three plus three plus three equals nine and you have four groups off. Three bids. So three plus three plus three plus tree equals toe. This is the only thing that changes. And maybe it's kind of hard, but at the beginning, But then he will get used to it. You just have to apply everything you blur on a note. Plus another eight note equals 1/4 you know that. So here we have two beats. Um, a NATO can be divided into 2 16 So here we have a beat. 2 16 notes. Nation can be replaced by this kind of rest. So here we have another, a silent one and everything. You know, already, the dotted party now equals tributes. 38 notes. Because you already know that the dog adds to the north half of these. Then they're already nothing. So 1/4 not class hop off. Its value equals 38 nights. Now let's see what happens if we add type notes. Solis At a tie here, I would just like an experiment to see What happens? One here, one here. So in the 98 exercise left, let's end one here, one here, one here and in the 12 8 exercise with that one here in one here, let's see how the type no tag notes apply here in the 68 9 And it's the same rule. You have to remember that the tie makes a some off the to note values tied together. So here we will have No. 30 starts here and ends here. So it's a three beats north value 123 So let's see how this bar sounds with these tightening rules. So 123456 So, uh, we tied these two together. You know, it's already so without without this time it's the and with this sign is we just make us some on this, too. Now let's help. This bar sounds weak. The find notes. 123456 So we make us some off these two without the sign, it's no. And with the sign is no. So 123 and four are types together, So 1234 safe. This is the way with time. But there's no values together. Let's see here how this barb sounds with the tied note. So without it, it's. And if we if we tied this to North values together, it's so uh so again with the time notes. Now, let's see. In the 98 10 signature this bar has started notes this one. So let's have it sounds with the title notes with this two notes tied together. So So here. Here we have one, if not plus three a note. So we will have +48 notes ties together. So it's +1234567 A nine types together in a long north so we can with the statements. Go. Now let's see this bar with this time Notes. Oh, uh huh. So again, 38 notes plus 1/8 note equals +48 notes tied together. So it's one, 3456789 Okay, so again, go, uh, and this bar we to the five notes. So let's see, in the 12 8 time signature the bar, this bar with the time notes. So, uh, so it's God that and the last bar with this died notes Uh huh. So that and again. Uh huh. So everything we've learned before applies here. The only thing you have to remember is that if you see eight here, it means that the beat is an eighth note. So the North values apply to the eighth note. If we see 69 or 12 we have to organize the beat into groups off 32 groups off three, three groups off three and four groups off. Three bids. Here it's the big is an agency to groups off 38 notes, three groups off 38 notes and forms off. Four. Sorry for groups off 38 minutes. This is what you have to remember. The rest is easy. It just applies. You just divide or united and values you had tied. Note your rests. You have anything you want and the rhythm is the same. That the rules for the rhythm artist thing. This is all for today. Thanks for watching by 12. 6 Ex.: Hi, guys. This is exercise one from less and six. Maternal at 60 beats per minute. One to Cree core guy six. God. Uh uh uh The, uh God, Doc. Uh huh. Go that duck! Go, go! Uh, uh. Go. Uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh at the, uh uh huh. Now let's see how exercise to from less and six sounds. One coup. 345 6789 God! Uh huh. God! Uh huh. God, uh uh, That the uh huh uh uh uh The the, uh uh huh. Got Doc, Uh, that, uh That, uh uh uh uh uh Got the, uh uh uh uh uh The uh huh. The, uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh and exercise three from lesson six. Sounds like this. 12 three, 45678 Gein 10. 11. Uh uh uh uh uh uh. That uh huh. The god, uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh The, uh uh uh God! God! Doc got the, uh uh God. Those were exercises 12 and three from Lesson six. 13. 7.Irregular rhythms: Hello, everyone, Welcome back. If this I say you will learn about the rational rhythm. Irrational reader refers to unusual division off the normal note values. So if we normally divide the quarter note into going to the to four tab signature, we usually divide the party into groups off 2/8 notes. This is a normal division that we've already learned on Irrational freedom is the unusual division off the quarter. Note into groups off three equal notes. So this is 1/4 note and is divided into 33 equal parts. It's an irrational river, and it is called a triplet. And we mark this irrational rhythm with this sign and a three to know that it's unusual way to divide the North you into three equal parts. So if the normal division is to eight notes in a parting note, the irrational way to divide it is into three equal parts, and this is a triplet. This victim sounds like this one and two, and so let's see the beat. The the is the normal way to divide the party. Now this'll rhythm with three plates. Sounds like this. So three equal parts to that. This is what Congressional rhythm is about. Another normal way to divide the quarter. Note. Easy into 4 60 notes. You already know this so that this is a normal way to divide the quarter. But if we want to divide in an irrational way, is the part well, we can add five the parts to 1/4 so we can divide the party into five equal parts. This is called cream to play Queen to play because it has five equal parts. The party is divided into five equal parts, instead off four. So this irrational rhythm refers to the court enough as well, and we mark the fact that it's an irrational veto with this sign and a five. Because there are five equal parts, we can add six equal parts instead of four. So the normal division of the doctrine of into four 16 notes it's irrationally replaced by a division into six equal parts. So this is a sex to play. This is the way it is called So treatment queen to play sex to play and remarked this with a six because there are six equal parts. Now let's see how this irrational rhythms sound so this is and the that. This is the five division off the question. This is the way it sounds. So Dr that is, and then we have the sex to play that goes. Talk about six equal parts instead of. So you have to just imagine that the court no peaceful in Apple and you choose whether to divide it into two equal parts. Three equal parts. Four equal parts 567 I know you can. You can choose whether to divide it into certain ways, But this is a normal way, and this is the normal way. Those ways of defining the court no are the directional. That is why they are called irrational rhythms. The trip left the queen to play and the sex to. Now, if you talk about 69 or 12 tanks, signatures as you remember, we have a certain way to organize the beads into groups off. Three. You already remember that, but this group off 38 notes it's not a trip. It it's not a tribute. This to a no, it's equal apart. Now these two equal another part in these two equal another quarter. So this way off organizing the beats It's not equal to the trip that this is a rational rhythm. It's not irrational one, So we have 68 notes want 23456 Now the irrational reader in 69 or 12 times signatures is this one. So instead, off having three eight notes, we will have 2/8 notes equal with this tree. So these three beats will be unusually divided into 2/8 notes. And this is an irrational reader. It is called the duplicate. They do play. So we have 123456123456 This is a normal way off. Writing down the 68 time signature with three notes and another three notes. Every every a throat is a beat. What if we want to make a rational freedom out of it? We were just replaces three beads with two egg notes and before other plant and this tree, which to as well. So this is the irrational rhythm into 69 and 12 times signatures. So it will be something like this. 123456 Doug. So this is what I clap and this is what I say and again clip 1346 And I say the the so equal parts that are less as long as thes three bits and destroyed the to play is bored. The last thing I want you to know about irrational rhythms is the fact that we can have Theis rational way of dividing beats into the 24 time signature. So instead, off to normal quarter notes. We can have three well notes into a tree plant, but it supported no treatment. It's not the 18 03 So instead of these two normal beads in a normal type signature, we can have three of course notes from a three play. A simple way to understand this trip. Let the party note Triplet is by imagining that we have to triplets dad with tight notes. So this is three instead of two, and this is tree instead of 23 instead of 23 instead of 2/8 notes. So it's got that that that that this is the big one and and you know we have tied notes. So the 1st 1 the second work together the last week. The first, the second with that, So it down the the the We have been together and this is how we get this to pit. So this will be this one. This united, this one industry will be this one. And now you were just It will be very easy for you to play or seeing the quarter note triplet because this is people find it hard to play or to understand. But now it's It's easier because it is easier to say and then just tied to get this is all you need to know about for sure That's a watch by. 14. 7 Ex.: Hi, guys. Welcome to exercises from Listen seven, this is exercise one, and the metro is said to 45 beats per minute one and coo and creep and court and God! God! God! God! Doc Got that, uh, that the the the the, uh uh uh, That That God the that the that the the, uh that that that that God the duck the, uh now the second exercise from Listen seven, the metro is set to 60 beats per minute. 123 four, five, six. Uh huh, uh uh uh uh, Doc. Uh uh uh uh uh uh God. Uh, God. Uh uh uh uh uh huh. Uh uh uh Wait. Uh uh. The, uh uh, go. Those were exercises one and two from lesson seven. 15. 8.Complex time signatures: Hey, guys, welcome back In this lesson we will talk about complex time signatures in order to know what the complex citing signature ease. We have to remember that in a simple line signature as soon for the to four time signature . We have two quart in its in a bar and they always have an accent on the first beat off the bar. That means that every first be or then you from the bar. He's more important. It has a little accent. It is more important than we organize the beats with the 1st 1 with the accent. If it is a place by arrest, it has another in our head is the most important. First beat is the most important or those value. If we have this this way off dividing the party, this body will be with an accident in 34 We have the 1st 1 of course, from the three beats in these times. Image of three Cardinals bar. He hasn't accent. It's more important than the others. Now, in the 44 time signature, we have a global to inaudible, so it's kind of a two part notes are plastic arsenal bar, so two parts like this tax introduced this week was the 44 Then the 1st 1 will be with an accent. At the 3rd 1 We'll have little access, so we have two accents, but they they are regular. So it's 123412313 Now that's that. Signature is about in irregular. As you can see here, we have an example. It's the 54 and signature five cards notes in a bar. This life says, How many needs We have no bar. You already know that. Well, if we see here off five, it's natural that we divide this five angel agreeable to and a group of three because five divided into equal parts. So far it is tip us tree or three pass to. So the 54 back signature is a son off to four time signature, plus a +34 time signature. This is an imaginary bottom line, so you can see that this is a bar and this is another bar imaginary ones. And this is the big bar. The 54 bar, the regular one, the complex one. And it has to access because we keep the exit from the too far. We also keep the exit form from the tree poor, but they're irregularly pool, as you can see, so it's not like in the for 412341234 They are irregular. It's 1234512341234 And we get but complex. Time Signature likes fruit. Here is Guess you can have three to this kind of combination. It is the reverse of this one, and it will be 12341234 if we keep the accents, as I said before. So this is the way you really read the 54 times richer. Two accents, but irregularly cool. Now let's see how these exercise goes. This exercises in 54 time signature. It means that you will have 5/4 notes in a bar is because see? 12345 12345 and 123 or four. I chose to organize this exercise like this three plus 23 plus 23 plus two in this. In this, I chose to write these exercise down because I want the essence to be like this one four. Now let's see how it sounds. This isn't imaginary bar line. As I said before, it just organizes the bar so you can see that it is a compound one, the next one. So let's see is and of you one to 34 go. And this bar one, 45 and then this far and again this bar. So if we read this exercise from the beginning to the end, you will feel that we have unusual rhythm because we have accents. Now we have three now have two No. 300 the accents are kind of. It's like you have a shorter leg. You walking have a short leg. That's that's the feeling you get from this kind of reading from complex for you. So from the beginning to the end, 1234 So again, from begins again, this is a lack of size in 54 other examples off complex time signatures, the 74 time Signature and the 11 4 time signature. We have the same things that by here, so the second can be divided into a group of three to or to 3 to 4 other other ways off, combining things. So if we try to come this with the accents from 34 plus 24 passed before, we will have 66 or round 3466 So this is how compound or complex or regular 10 signatures are born with, with irregular of accidents and complex ways off something simple. Tax signatures. Another example is the 11 for Signature. 11 can be divided into a group of four off three. Another group of four so 44 times richer, a 34 times nature and another 44 So this would be 123456789 and again, 123 So again, it's the feeling that you have a shorter leg, and when you walk, it sounds. It sounds irregular so the seven can be divided into grumble 3 to 2 or 34 or to 32 or maybe 2 to 3 the 11 as well, in in different ways or combining the simple maxim futures. This is what the blacks time signatures are about. Everything you already know applies here, but you have to come in an irregular way, and you have to put the accents where they need to be. Thanks for watching this is old by
