So see you inside. 2. What we are going to be creating in this project: In this project, you will learn how to create this flat looking deserted island. And in the process, you'll learn more advanced illustrator tools. And I will include some working, some blending some rotations as well as some some path, the path splitting. But of course, it all will be will be simple. I mean, if you know my my teaching method, I try to make everything as simple and as possible and as enjoyable as possible. So even though we are going to be talking about some more advanced illustrator techniques, it doesn't mean that is gonna be difficult to learn. So let me just to break this a designer down for you. So you you know what? Your which will be working on what we will be you're creating here. So first, I guess the most prominent part of the centerpiece of this design is, of course, this or these palm trees, actually. And we are going to start to recreating or creating our designer with the palm trees. So we're gonna create the leaves with the with the humble ellipse toe and some simple transformations, and then we're going to take care of the stem, and we are going to warp Well, not actually going to create a rectangle and then divided and war bit of it. And but, of course, we're going to create the Cocoanuts with simple of simple ellipse toe. Of course we got here. What we got here is the sun. This guy right here, let me just zoom in a bit. And as you can see, the race are a bit well, they are nuts, like even let's put it like that. They look like they are like they're weaving like they are moving a bit. So we are going to create these race with the with the help of some warping techniques. Then way are going to create the clouds. And you will be amazed how easy it is to create these flat looking clouds with some simple ellipses and Pathfinder transformations. Also, we also got these waves right here and all you panto lovers will be delighted because we are actually going to create them with the mental and with the blend tool as well We got got this. This island right here. That's a simple, simple ellipse and some shading going on right here and off course. We got the background. And as you probably noticed, there is some Grady and going on right here. And I know that Grady INTs are inapt to something that common in flat designs. So please don't tell anyone that we were going to be is in great in in flat design. But I think that this great it really makes that makes, um, this whole whole I can a bit more dynamic. It's brooks it a bit a bit up. Now, before we start, I just I just wanted to make a quick little note. If you are familiar with my with my basics flat design, of course, you might be used to the 15 minute promise that I made in that course at meaning that each designer will be made within 15 minutes. Well, these projects are a bit more complex. There's more. There's more going on in the projects in the design that the techniques we're gonna be using are a bit more advanced. But of course, that doesn't mean that all will be will be difficult to learn. It will just take a bit longer to recreate. So let me just stop talking right now. And since we know what we are going to be achieving here. What we are going to be doing here. Let me just move on to the next video and actually start creating this design for you. 3. Set up the workspace: if you want to follow along with me, it would be great if you decided Teoh have the same tools open as I do in my workspace. And to tell you the truth, there's not that many new tools that we are going to be using that you won't find in the essentials the workspace. But there's actually a few 12 maybe three tours that we are going to be to be using and that I'd like you to have open. So let's go to the window tab and let's click on the Align Tab right here and in this group I do not going to be using in that transform panel. So I'm simply going to close it. We can have. We will mostly have all the all the transform options in our control panel, so we don't actually need this panel right here. I am, however, going to be using the Pathfinder tool. So along with the ally, until I'm simply going to Doctors group in my panels right here and in the align panel. I I think I want to show the options just so I have all the options as I go now, there's actually one more tool that you could use, and that's optional. But it can come quite handy when you're working with the like, multiple elements in your design, maybe multiple art boards. And that tool is called the Navigator. And if we find it in our window panel, where window tab. Let me just let me move to this to this. To this some document you can see that we have that we have our art boards here displayed in our in our window, and we have all our all our Let me just make me make it bigger so you can see everything better. And we have all our elements of our design being displayed in our in our aren't put that right now we can see on Lee the elements that are being constrained to the art of boards. Who would go when we go to the options panel? And I'm simply going to de select this view Art board conference only. I get all my all my elements inside my documents with the with the Navigator. Tulleken, simply quickly find piece of the piece off the design that I am actually interested in, and I can simply and I can simply find it in the in the Navigator panel like that. So this is an option if you want. If you want to go along, if you want 20 used this Navigator panel, just go ahead. I'll leave it up to you. But I would like it to have the Pathfinder and the aligned panels the tools capped handy in your in your workspace. So when you are ready to save your workspace simply, let's go. Go ahead and do that in the workspace switcher. Add, Let's call it maybe flat designed just like that and now we are actually ready to start designing, so let's do that. 4. Class Proejct: for the class project. It would be great if you decided to create your own flat design and desert island. And in the process, it would be great if you used the magnetic looks that I show in the class. But as far as the cow colors, you can maybe, you know, like I want to go with some different colors. Although usually the seas blue, this guy's someone blow and leaves are green. And so also, if you can, like stuck to the to the rial life colors, that will be great. But if you want to maybe, like, get rid of the Grady int, or maybe at some different tints and shades to your colors when you are well, then you are welcome to do so and actually got a divided to go to two different websites where you could find some really great flat, flat collars. So let me just quickly show you those those websites. So the 1st 1 that I use that I tend to use the most is this flat white collar picker, and in here you can find different different taps where can choose different colors. And of course, in the project you'd probably go with the orange tab. Maybe with the yellow for the sun. Of course. With the blue and the green. Unfortunately, there is no, there's no brown tab right here, But you can find, like, kind of brown colors here in the orange tab and in the rand tab right here. But of course, if you want to go with some really with some really like really brown flat colors, you will find them here in the flat, flat colors that net, and you can have you can find a different different flat colors right here. And of course, we got the different tabs right here. So if I just choose pallets, I'm gonna get these pallets right here. So if you want to, if you want to find your own maybe like a whole pallet for your design, where you will find all your all your colors, all your blues or all your greens and or your all your yellows, then just go ahead. But you could also go just for the colors colors tab right here and find your color. Let's say that you want to use this brown, simply click on it and it's a hex code is going to be copied into your clipboard just like that. So again, I really invited to work along with me. And if you decide to do so just to use the collars from those two websites, But you can experiment a bit with the tents and with the shapes, the shades with the shapes as well. But please try to stay, try to stay in the theme. 5. Let's create the leaves: in this video, we're going to start to designing our our project and we're going to start with the palm trees as so let's quickly creating new art board. So I'm simply going to grab the art of War tool right here. And since I don't to want to cologne on the autobahn stuff, I don't Kelowna its contents. I don't want to clone my design. I gotta make sure that move copy artwork with art abort option is not selected. So I'm simply gonna make sure that it's that it's de selected. And I'm simply going to drag down just like that, and I'm gonna hold down the old and the shift keys together. Of course, if you are on a Mac, just hold down the shift and the option case together, and I'm going to release the buttons and just bring it just a bit up. And there we go. We got our our board. Are our board created? Now we're gonna create a new layer as well. So in the layers panel, I'm simply going toe old click on the create new layer icon to get this dialog box, and I am going to name it just lets name an island just like that. Okay, now that we have our our audible and our layer created, we can actually start creating ville leaves. Let me just maybe zoom and just a bit what I want to do right now, what I want to start with is ah is a simple ellipse. So I'm going to make the ellipse still active by present, the al key on the keyboard. And I'm simply going to create in the lips that's going to be looking something like that. Doesn't have to be a perfect circle circle can be something like this. Okay, so what we need to do right now is we need Teoh converted these the left and the right ankle pointing off our lips so they are no longer smooth anchor points, But they're gonna be, like, sharp anchor points. So in order to do that, all we need to do is simply grab the convert anchor point tool just like that. And I'm simply gonna click on this guy right here and on this guy right here. So we get something like an eye shape. I guess you could call it an eye shape. Okay, So what I want to do right now is I want to collect simply on this and on this I shape and I want to copy it into my clipboard and then baste it in front. So what I'm doing is I'm simply pressing the control, see, and then control after on my keyboard. And as you can see, we got two shapes created just like that, not what we need. What we need to do is we need to simply make this guy smaller, but we want to make it smaller in relation to its CenterPoint. So what? I'm gonna do them simply going to grab it by this anchor point. I'm gonna grab it. I'm gonna make it smaller. But of course I need to add I need to press the bulky or option. If you're on a Mac Teoh actually make it smaller in room in relation to its sense reports. I'm gonna press the ultimate Aziz. Well, and I think that something like that should be fine. Okay, Now we gotta repeat the process, but we gotta we gotta do it with this with smaller I Let's call it like that. It's a smaller I Look, it's some simply going to control sea and control after copy and paste it in front and again by holding down the shift key. I am simply going to click on this anchor point and make this guy smaller to something like this. This should be fine. Now that we got all these guys, all these guys created but we need to do is we need Teoh divine them using the Pathfinder toe. So I'm simply going to select them. And I'm going to go to the Pathfinder tool right here. And I'm simply going to use the function called Divide just like that. And the result off each off Pathfinder transformation is going to be a group which we can see here in the control panel. And so I'm simply going to one group it. So we could either go to the object menu and then on group, or we could go with the shift control plus G shortcut on our keyboard. Now, we are not going to need all these bottom shapes right here, so I'm simply going to delete them. And I think we could start thinking could start adding collars to our to our leave so you can actually see that That is gonna be a leaf. So I'm gonna grab this bottom and bottom path, and I'm gonna go to my my swatches and I'm gonna choose this darker color right here darker green. And with this guy, I'm gonna go with this lighter green just like that. Of course I don't need any any stroke, so I'm going to get rid of it. And I'm simply going to maybe rotate them just like that. This would be fine. The next step would be to simply rotate this leaf to the right and then reflect all what the three leaves leaves to the left. So that's as easy or simply selecting this guy in selecting the this leave. And I'm gonna make the rotator active by present the R key on the keyboard. And I want my rotation to happen from this point right here from his anchor points. I'm simply going to click on it just like that, and I'm going to move my leave down to maybe somewhere here, this should be fine. And of course I want to clone this guy. So I'm gonna add the old scheme to my transformation to simply clone it something like that . And of course, all we really need to do is to simply hit control de on our keyboard or command. If you're on a Mac to duplicate the last selection, which was the last transformation, which was CLO, which is rotating believe and cloning it at the same time, which, by the way, is the same as going to the object. Manu transform and transform again, just like that. Okay, now that we've got all these guys created, what we really need to do in the last step to do here is to simply reflect them to the right, and you reflect them, using the reflect tours on simply going to make it active by pressing the O key on the keyboard. And I want the replay reflection to happen in relation to this bottom anchor points. I'm going to simply old click on it this time to get this dialog box. And I want a reflection to be vertical and I want to hit copy. I don't want to hit. Okay, just like that. And there you go. We got our our palm tree leaves created. So in the process, we used some simple transformations We used the Ellipse tilt, of course, to create, to create the first leaf. Then we rotated and Clement and then reflected it to the left. Of course, we added some nice colors to our to our leaves. And there we go. We got the first part of our palm tree created. So in the second verse in the next video, we are actually going Teoh create the stem of our palm tree and we're going to use of warping and some path path dividing, splitting basket. And actually as so if that's something that you're interested in, keep watching. 6. Let's create the stem: okay. Not that we know that we have our leaves. I created We need to create a first time. So I'm simply going to grab the rectangle tool. And I'm going to create a stand that it's gonna look something like that. It doesn't have to be too big, really gonna be even quite small. So let's leave it as something like that. And if we take a look at the original, you can see that we got what the stem has Actually, two different colors has got this darker brown on the right and lighter brown on the left. So, in order to achieve that affect, all we really need to do is to go to the object, Manu Bath, and split into groups just like that. And what this tool does is it simply splits any of your path into rows and columns. Let me just get the preview button. And in this case, all I need is to calm. So I'm simply going to press too well, absolutely. Gonna presence at this up arrow to to add another column to my to my rectangle. And I am simply going to press okay, just like that. Now what I want to do, They want to make sure that my that my top off the off the stem is actually a bit narrower than its bottom apart. So what I'm gonna do is I'm going to select both these guys and I'm simply going to go control Gene to group these thes two rectangles that I'm simply double Klay gonna double click on it to enter the isolation mode that we just zoom in. That right here. So I want to do is I want to make this part, this bottom the stop part, a bit narrower. And that's really as easy as simply grabbing the direct selection tools or the white arrow , if you will. And I'm simply going to Marquis around this topic power part off the stem just like that. And really only need to do is to simply initialize the scale tool by pressing the S key on the keyboard. And then I'm gonna press enter and you would press return if you're a Mac and we're going to scale down maybe up to 30% but like 50% should do and what this technique is actually allowing us to do is it is it's allowing us to bring the this left anchor point and this right anchor point closer together. Because whenever you simply select anchor points and then use the scale tool, you're actually going to move the anchor points you selected. So in this case, if I selected that these anchor points the left and the right anchor point, I am simply bringing them closer together. And I think 50% should be fine. And I'm simply gonna hit copy just like that. Let me just get back from the isolation mode. Just zoom out a bit and there we go. We got the stem created off course. We need the proper colors on. It's still a group. So we could either a target a a piece of our artwork inside a group by precedent, by selecting with the direct selection tool. But I'm simply I'm gonna one group of these guys I'm gonna press control shift g on the keyboard, and I'm gonna make this right to part with stem a bit darker, so it's gonna have this color, and this left want is gonna have this lighter brown. And of course, these guys don't need any stroke, just like that. And there we go. We got our our stem created. So in this video, we created the stamp. We make it toe actually look like a proper stem. We divided toe the step into two parts and we added the colors. And in the next video, we are going to take care off some work. And so if that's something that you're interested in, keep watching. 7. Let's finish the palm tree: in visiting that, we're gonna make the palm Tree band to the right and we're gonna use some warping in the process. But before we actually start doing that, what we need is we need to make sure that these leaves are one a single group and that my stem is one single group. So I'm simply going to Marquis around leaves just like that. And then I'm gonna go with control Geo my keyboard to make these guys a group so we can see that in the control panel. And then I'm going to select the stem, and I'm gonna control G again to make this a group as well. I think I'm going to start with the with the stem, so I'm gonna select it. And I'm not going to go to the effect menu warp, and I'm gonna go with arch just like that. Now, we got different options right here, But the most important option is this horizontal or vertical band mode. And of course, the band amount that we're going Teoh, we're going to apply. So let me just click preview And what would arch functioned us is? It simply makes your shape What kind of arc to one side. But we don't need, like, the horizontal of band, because if I just increase it, you can see that it's not actually what we want. What we want is a vertical band, and I am going to increase it to something around. Maybe that's gonna be but too much. Maybe let's go with 20% just like that, and I'm gonna hit, okay. And of course, this is still alive effect. So if I just go to the out find mode, you can see that I got my that my stem, actually, Well, the past that I'm making the stem are still straight, but we can see that they are being banned by the warp tool. Well, the worker function. And if you want to change, like maybe we decided that this arch is not what we want or we want to change the band options. Of course, we need to select it. Well, we can select it, and then we're gonna go to the appearance panel and click this war arch link right here. Okay, so let's say that I am satisfied to with my with the band value and with the arch, the fact that it's creating, So I'm simply going to select it. I'm gonna go to the object, Manu, and I'm gonna go expand appearance just like that. So no longer is it is live a fact. But it's now and say it's an arched. It's an arched shape. Now I am not going. Teoh, make Make the leaves band or make the leaves the arch. As as I did with stem because I think I wanna want Teoh preserve from the proportional proportional look and feel of my leaves. What I want to do, however, is there once you make them kind of, like, flowed the same the same line with with stamp. So instead of instead of warping it, what we could do is we could simply go to the rotate tools. I'm simply gonna press the R key on the keyboard. Of course, I have my leaves selected. I'm gonna press the enter on my keyboard. And since I made, if I can recall if I can recall right since I made my my well, Archer bantam the better by the 20 degrees or 20% there, I need to enter the same value right here for for the rotate angle. But since I want to rotate into the right, I'm gonna enter the negative value and negative 20 minus 20 actually, Right here. And I will know reposition that some were here. That should be fine. And there we go. We got our our problem tree pollen tree bending to the right. And if you think that maybe these leaves are a bit too bacon relation Teoh to the stand like I do right now, we could simply select it and make it smaller to somewhere here. Just refiling we just move it, bringing to bring it down. The last thing to do he was, would be, of course, to add the Cocoanuts. I'm gonna grab the Ellipse tool, and I'm going to create a cocoanut. That's gonna be something like this. I'm going to give it a proper color this darker brown, and I'm gonna move it to somewhere here. This should be final images. Zoom in a bit and I'm gonna clone it to the left. Some holding down the bulky and the control actually, my case because if you press the control, key or command, if you're on a Mac, you're going to temporarily switch last used selection toe. So right now I'm holding down the control key and the old keys together to simply move this guy this coconut to the left. And I think I'm going to make it just a bit smaller. So it looks something like this. And there we go. We got our our palm tree created now. The next step, of course, would be to to create the other palm tree and maybe rotated a bed a bit and simply position them the way we the way we want. But that's something that we are going to you do in the next in the next video. So in this video will you learned how to use the arch arch function? And of course, you can experiment with all the other world functions as well, if you want. So we banter the stem to the left and we rotated the leaves and added the Cocoanuts 8. Let's add the second palm tree: in this video. We're going Teoh reflect this appalling tree to the left and we're going to rotate it a bit and we are going to position everything properly, so it looks really, really nice. But before we do that, let me just make a select everything and simply had controlled because I want to create group out of this out of this, a palm tree. So before I reflected to the left, I think I am going to rotate it a bit, so I'm simply going to grab it on and move it to something like that. This should be in. That should be fine. Not gonna grab it again. And I'm gonna initialize the reflector tool by pressing the okay on the keyboard. And I'm going toe old click to somewhere on this anchor point because I sent when I click on it, I'm gonna get the reflect, the reflect to tool a dialog box. And I do want this reflection to be vertical. But I want it. I don't want to hit cup. Okay. I want to hit copy just like that. And of course, this palm tree needs to be a little smaller, so I'm going to make it smaller till it looks something like that. And I am going to maybe move it somewhere here. And I wanted to be put all the way to the back. So I'm gonna use ah, very handy shortcut on my keyboard, which is control shift and the left bracket and which is the, by the way, the same as going to the select. I mean, to the object menu arrange and sent to back just like that. Okay, so let me just zoom in a little bit and let me maybe moved this guy just a bit up to somewhere here. This should be fine. If you want, you can you can play around with the rotation off this off this palm tree. Wait. Maybe could rule rotated just a bit. You can play around with its size. It's what Now it's really up to you what I would like to do, however, before I before I uncorked my champagne and you know and say that that the poem trees are are done. What I want to do is I want to exchange them the colors off this off the stem toe to the left. So what? I'm gonna do is I'm gonna grab of the direct selection. So I'm gonna do it by pressing the A on my keyboard and I'm going to serve Just simply selected that I'm going Teoh initialize the eyedropper tool by pressing the I key on the keyboard. And I'm gonna just sample this guy right here and again. I'm gonna press I'm gonna hold down the other than the control key, actually to revert to the last selection toe a use, which was the direct selection that I'm gonna press on this left part of the stem. And I'm going to sample this guy right here because what I'm looking for is like a nice contrast between this this just this part off them off the stem And this part off the with this bigger and off this bigger palm tree. Okay, so now that we have our our co will palm trees selector created, I want Teoh. I want to create a simple clipping mask because I want this will stop that this bottom part of our palm trees to be to be even so I'm simply gonna create a simply gonna create a rectangle and I'm gone them and get to awake. It looks something like that. This would be fine. I'm gonna grip everything. And I am simply going to use the control seven shortcut on my keyboard, which is the same as going to the object menu clipping mask and make this guy right here. So, as you can see now, now our stem is being is being collect and it looks looks even. It looks really, really nice. Okay, so there we go. We created the palm tree. So in the process, we use some. We start with greed and a creating believes and created them using in the ellipse toe we, of course, carpet basted in in front and transformed it a bit. Then we rotated and reflected it. And after that, we created the stem. We worked it, remember the Archerd, the arch option. And then we added the coconuts and reflected everything to the left. Made this guy smaller changed, will exchange of the colors of the stem and then clipped everything. So our solar system looks nice. Looks nice. And even so in the next few off think we're going, Teoh, Think we're gonna take care off the off the sky so we're going to create and the sun and we're going to create the clout. So that's something that you're interested in. Keep watch. 9. Let's create the sun: So in this video we're going to create the sun. But before we do that, let me just maybe move my Let's just move my trees dough somewhere here and maybe on making just a bit smaller. So let me just take a quick look at the original. So of course we got these rays right here. And as you can see, they are not like, even even triangles. They are actually, like, kind of like, Well, they kind of looked like flames, don't you think? I think they kind of looked like flames, which is which is actually a good thing, because it's the sun and the sun is hot and flames are also hot. Yeah, and that was that was really clever of me. Okay, so let's start with with creating with creating an ellipse and then creating these race. So I'm gonna go to my to my to my proper proper art. But I'm gonna make sure that I'm on the proper layer on this layer right here that just zoom in a bit. Okay. So again, let's let me just grab the Ellipse tool and I'm going to create an ellipse. That's gonna be something like that and I'm gonna make it. I'm gonna give it that some white Phil and black stroke. Okay, So to create the race, all we really need to do is the first create a director, create a triangle, and I'm gonna do it too. With the polygon tool. I'm going to select it right here. And if you're polygon, look something like this, and it probably will then just simply press the down arrow key to decrease the number of corners to eventually make it look like it's a lot like it's a triangle. So I'm simply going to press the shift key to constrain the proportions, and I'm going to make it look something like this. Knock it. I'm gonna bring it so it lines nicely with my I wouldn't make the lips. Maybe just a bit to lower to somewhere here, of course, that we are going to align everything properly later in the process. So I'm simply gonna grab this guy and again I'm gonna go to the to the effect menu warp. But in the in this case, actually, we could simply go with the arc tool because in here you can see that we got this style drop down menu right here. And I think I'm gonna go with the flank for this run. And I think you can already see what is going to happen. Of course we gotta We gotta use the vertical vertical transformation. And if I move this band option right here, you can see that I am making making this well this flame to be bent even more or a bit less . If I If I decrease this band value right here, I think I'm gonna go with something around 25% that shoot. I think that should do it. And since it's still alive effect again as we as we already know, we could go to the appearance, pal and simply collect this This'll Inc right here that says war flag and change their values. Should we should we change our mind? So I'm gonna select this guy since I don't want to, since I don't want to, I don't want it to be a life effect anymore. Again, I'm gonna go to the object menu and I'm going to go with the expand appearance because right now what I want to do is I think I want to make it just a bit smaller. So I'm holding down the old key to make it smaller in relation to the center point. Just like that. This should be fine. And I think I'm going to select all these guys and in the align panel, I'm gonna make sure that I'm allowing to aligning these guys to the selection. And I'm simply going to go with this guy which says horizontal line center, to make sure that they align perfect perfectly to the center in order to create the rest of the off the race. What we really need to do is to simply grab this guy, press the R key on the keyboard, and simply find the center, the center point off our off our lives. And by the way, if you can see this tool tip that says center right here, you probably have your smart guides off. And to turn them on, all you really need to do is to go to the view menu and check if you got the smarter guys option turned on right here. Of course, you could use the control you the function well, short, but if you want, so I'm simply gonna find the center again somewhere here. And I'm gonna hold down the old the old because I want my mom my rotation to begin to happen in relation to the this Centrepoint some simply going to holding them the multi click on the center point right here. And if you've seen my other videos, you probably know what's gonna happen. We're going to enter 3 60 because that's the full circle, and we're going to divide it by the by the amount off the race we want to. Actually, we want to eventually have ultimately have. So I think I'm going to go with 16. Let me just see what it looks like. I think it should be fine. So as you can see, illustrator counted the right angle value for me. And, of course, what we have to do is we have to click Copy? Not. Okay. So I'm gonna click coffee just like that, And what's really have to do is to simply hit the control deep on our keyboard, just like that, to make the race look something like this. And of course, if you think that these race are a bit closer to to each other. So let me just undo that onto all these stamps. What we could do is we could simply initialize the rotate tool again, find a center spot. And maybe this time I'm gonna go 3 60 by maybe this time, 12. Let's hit Copy. And then I'm gonna hit control D to make it look something like that. But of course, usually the sound has a yellow color. So I'm going to I'm going to select all these guys. I'm gonna I'm gonna get rid of the of the stroke and for the film. I'm gonna go with this with this yellow color just like that. Okay. Before we wrap things up in this video that I wanted to show 11 really powerful production technique with you when you are designing things like like this son, for instance. I mean, when you have some elements that are being rotated and carpet at the same time. And if you if you want to manipulate their position in relation to some doctor, that you are rotating them, so what we really need to do? Well, what you could do is to simply let me let me just grab all these guys and then I'm gonna de select this'll center ellipse. So let's say that I want to bring all these guys closer together because I really do think that they are too, too far, far away from from the centre, off the sun. So what we could do is again we could go to the scale tool and remember that we that we used this technique with that with the top part of the stamp. And I'm going toe old click on the center center spotted off this ellipse off this, um son middle part of the sun that instantly going toa alta Click on it. And as you can see, if we scale it down, we are actually bringing these elements together. And it works with every element that you are actually were using or targeting. Simply when you when you scale it down, you're going to bring them closer together, and we are bringing them closer together in relation to the central point. Remember, we Ulta click on it, and if I make it's been like 95 you can actually see that I am. Bring them closer together and it's still I'm preserving the gap between the sun and the race. And I think that's something around nine, maybe 85 maybe 88. 8% should do just like that. So we selected all the race and then we simply use the scale Toto to bring them closer together in relation to the center off the center of the Ellipse off this middle part of the sun. So there you go. In this video, you'll learn how to create this nicely looking off like flame flame effect Flame race. Let's come, let's go the flame race. So we use the flag option from one from our warp warp options from our warp functions, we rotated them. There are all the flames and clone them at the same time. And then we actually brought them closer together to make them to make them appear like they are closer to the sun, but still well preserved. This gap at this gap right here. So in the next video, we are going to continue with this with sky theme. Let's call it like that would describe him and we are actually going to create the clouds. So that's something that you're interested in. Keep watching 10. Let's create the clouds: in this video, we're going to learn how to create flat looking clouds, and we can see here in our original and in the process, we're going to use simple, simple ellipsis and some Pathfinder operations, and we're going to some aligning as well. So in order to create her the first cloud, I'm simply gonna grab the Ellipse still right here. And I'm gonna create a perfect the lips and perfect circle. And I'm gonna make it intentionally too big so you can see it all better. Okay, so now that I have it now that I have created, all I really need to do is I need to clone it first to the left and then to the right, some simply going to click on it, press the shift key to constrain the transformation. And I'm gonna at the old key together to move it, maybe to somewhere here and then I'm going to click on this guy as well and move it. Maybe this time to somewhere here. And of course I'm I'm adding in the altered key to my transformation as well to clone this ellipse to the right. Okay, so now what? What? We really need to do is turn. It is we simply have to make this guy smaller and this guy smaller as well. Some simply going to click on this, left a lips and I'm gonna grab it by this, left the top left anchor point, or this will top left Handle, actually, and I'm going to hold on the shift key to constrain the proportions. And I'm gonna make smaller till it looks something like that. And with this guy, I'm gonna do the same. But I'm gonna make it just a bit bigger than the previous guy. Just like so. And if you want to go with the cloud like this one, well, then be my guest. You can leave it like that, but I think I'm gonna do some some more things to it. The first of all, I am simply going to maybe move this guy a bit to the right. Maybe even more to something like that. And I really don't want I mean, what I want is I want a straight line that ghosts that goes down here. So I want the base of this cloud, Toby, straight up even. Okay, since I want the base of the cloud to be even. I need to do a few things. First. I'm going to select all these guys and in the Pathfinder tool. I'm simply going to unite them just like that. And I don't I don't want these anchor points. Actually, there are three anchor points. This guy right here, this guy right here and this one right here. So we got three anchor points that we actually don't need, and we can We can get rid of them. We can remove them very simply. S o with direct selection tool. What we really need to do is to simply select one of them. And I think I'm gonna do it in 33 separate steps so you can understand about what I'm doing actually here. So I'm going to select this anchor point and you can see that the control panel changed to give me option that would that work with my current selection? And since I selected the the anchor point, I can manipulate it in different ways right here. And the manipulation that I am looking for is actually removing this anchor points. I'm gonna collect this icon process, remove selected anchor points I'm going to click on it. Then I'm going to select this anger point as well, and I'm going to remove it. And then I'm going to remove this anchor point. I'm going to click on it and remove it just like that to get a nicely looking, nicely looking cloud. So there we gap the cloud created, and we created it simply by using three humble ellipses which we which we transformed, but we made them smaller. And then we united them in the Pathfinder tool. And then we removed three bottom anchor points to to make the base of the cloud. Look, look straight. Look. Even of course, the clouds are usually will have kind of a wide ish color, and they are gonna have it when we are when we are done with this guy. So I'm not gonna I'm not gonna make them white just now in the next video. What I want to do is I actually want to create a I think I'm gonna I'm gonna create the background right now, so we can so we can start putting all the pieces onto onto our onto our background, and then we will be able to make the clouds. Look, look, look. Quite so if that's something that you're interested in, keep watching 11. Let's create the sky: in this video we're going to create the backgrounds are going to create the sky, and then we're gonna create the seal. So that's really simple. But let me just make him move this guy to the right, move the sun to the right, and I'm gonna group them. So I'm gonna hit control G. And I'm gonna move my my cloud to somewhere here. Okay? So I got my assets sitting right here, and I'm gonna create a creator that the background with the Ellipse starts, I'm going activated by pressing the l key on the keyboard. And then I am simply going to create an ellipse that's gonna look something like that. Maybe just let me just move it just a bit down to somewhere here, okay? Of course. As we can see the original, this this background, it looks like it's kind of count into two parts. So that's what we're gonna do right now. Let me just move maybe all these guys to the right so they don't block our view. Okay, So dividing our our background is really, really simple. All we really need to do is to create a simple straight line, so I'm gonna activate a line segment by pressing backspace, given the backslash key on the keyboard. And I am simply going to create a line that's gonna go somewhere here, it really doesn't have to have NFL nor stroke. Simply Illustrator needs to know that there is some path, some drone right here. So I'm going to select this guy. So let this line. And then I'm going to select my background and in the Pathfinder told I'm going to hit this divide function to divide these guys into two into two parts. So, as you can see, this guy is a group, so I'm going to group it, and I can I think I can start adding colors. So this bottom part is gonna be the is gonna be them. The sea, so it's gonna have is gonna have this this nice blue color. And as I mentioned in in the first video, we're going to add the Grady into our sky. So in order to initialize the grading well, to add the grading, I'm simply going to press at the period key on the keyboard. And as you can see, I got this great into Well, I have this great and already created in the previous video. So let me just make it quickly black. So let's pretend that this is simple black and white, black and white, radiant and is linear just like that. So if you are senior grating of satellites and you probably will see it like that, all we really need to do is we need to simply start adding the collars. So the first eso Well, actually, this this darker Grady int stop is going toe have maybe this'll lighter blue color. And this a lighter, grating stuff is gonna have this really, really extremely light blue color, just like so. And I want to change her the type of this ingredient to radio. And now I'm gonna grab the Great until from my tools panel just like that. And I think I'm going to make it look something like that. You should be fine. I'm starting my Grady int from from this because this is where my son is gonna go. So if I now simply start bringing these guys over to the laughed, I'm going to put my son somewhere here. Of course. Of course. I need to make sure that it's being displayed. It's been on top of the stack, so I'm simply going to go with control shift to right bracket. Just like that on a map Could go with command shift to right bracket, and I'm going to start adding the clout. So I'm gonna go with this guy right here and again. I'm gonna make sure that is maybe, you know, I'm gonna I'm simply gonna grab this toppers sky color. And I'm simply moving. Gonna move all the way to the bottom by president, the combination off the control shift, left bracket just like that. So this is one a cloud, and I'm gonna make it. I'm gonna make it. This may be this very light like great color and maybe make just a bit smaller. And then I'm gonna put some cloud right here, and I'm gonna make it just if it's smaller and another one is gonna go somewhere here. Of course we can play with the position and later, later on and before we before we put our our palm trees onto our onto our background. What I want to do is, I want to create the island, and as you can see in the original. We got this kind of a shading going on right here, which we're going to create with a simple rectangle to, But I think that this is something that we're going to take care in the next video. 12. Let's create the island: in this video. We're going to take care off the island. We're going to create this island right here. And then we're going to create this shading. And after that, we will put our our palm trees onto the island. So creating of the theme island is really as easier simply grabbing the Ellipse tool and let me make it. Let me just hold down the shift key to created to create in a lips just like that. Maybe maybe let's not make it a perfect circle. So I'm gonna let go of the shift key to create a l. It's but not a perfect ellipse, some simply going to create maybe something like that. This should be fine. And I am going to give Give it a nice, nice, sandy color just like that. And of course, I am not gonna need this bottom anchor point. Let me just zoom in a bit. I'm not gonna need this bottom anchor points constantly going to select it. But this time I am not going to remove it. I'm going to delete it. So I'm simply gonna press delete key on the keyboard just like that. And since it's now an open path, which we can see when we go to the preview mode, something I simply press the control. Why on the keyboard and you can see that this is this is an open path and it's not something we want so really to join them. Thes thes two of left and there's right ankle point. All we really need to do is to simply press control J on the keyboard. And now when we take a look at it, we can see that this is a closed path just like that. So now if I go back to the preview mode, you can see that we got our our island created. So now we can simply grab our our palm trees and simply move them onto onto them onto the background. Actually, and we can move, make them just a bit bigger, just like that. And if you want, you can maybe moving to maybe move into down or or maybe a bit up, just just like that. So, really, all we need to do it to finish this this island off is to simply create the shading. And as I sat in the previous video, we are going to create it with a simple rectangle to I'm gonna grab it right here from my tools panel and I am going Teoh, let me just make it. Let me just zoom a bit. I'm going to collect somewhere. Here's to make it as wide as the stem of my of my palm tree the like That should be fine. And I am going to make it black. Now what I want to do is I want to simply move this thes two bottom anchor points of the left bottom bank report and the right bottom anchor point to the right and I'm gonna grab them with direct selection tools. I'm going to click on the left guy and on the right guy. I'm holding down the shift key by the way to add this book right ankle point of the selection. But I'm simply going to move them to the rights to somewhere here. This will be fine and really only need to do is to simply drop the opacity down to around 30 or maybe even 20%. That's that's up to you. Which value will go? And there you go. We got that. We got the shading created. So in this video we created the island. And then we created the shade. We, of course, put we put our our palm tree palm trees onto the island. And really, the last thing to do here would be to creator will be to create the waves. And this is something that we are going to do in the next video. 13. Let's use the Pen Tool to create waves: invisible. We are going to create these waves that we can see in the original. And all you panto lovers will be delighted because we are actually going to use. You're going to use the mantle to create those ways. But we are actually going to Ghana, create just one wave and then we are going Teoh, use the bland toe to simply simply bland that will and all these other all these other waves to our to our design. So I'm gonna grab the panto by pressing the P key on the keyboard and let me just zoom in real quick. And I am simply going to click somewhere here on this path, and I'm going to hold down the shift key. As you can see, I am, I am dragging these direction handles just like that. So I'm simply going to drag them to this point. Let's let's put it like that, and I am simply going to collect somewhere here and again. I am going to grab a so I'm simply going toe hold down the shift key to drag these direction handles as well. Just like that, and let me just make exchange to fill with stroke and you're going to see we created this nice little this nice little kerf. It kind of looks like a like a letter s. So what, We just zoom in again? So what we really need to do is willing to simply click on it initialize the reflected by pressing the okay on the keyboard. And I am simply going toe old click on this top anchor point just like that. And of course, I want this reflection to be vertical and I'm going to copy, just like so. Now we really need to do is to simply join these guys. So this time I'm not going to use the joint. What? I am going to use the John Command, but I'm not going to use the control J Sure shortcut. I'm gonna go to the object menu path, and I'm simply gonna hit. I'm simply gonna have join, just like so Now what we really need to do let me zoom out real quick when we really need to do is goingto cologne this guy all the way to the right. Do somewhere here, just like that. And now I'm going to select both these guys and what what we want to do right now. Let me maybe just give them proper Phil and proper color, just like so. So what we want to do right now is we need to Well, we won't have copies in between these guys to actually create the waves. So really, we're really what? We could do it. Simply go to the blend tool, But I'm going to double click on it and the valuable The spacing that I want to let I want to go for is a specified steps and the value here. Well, that's gonna be That's gonna be up to you. How many? How many waves you want you want in between these guys? I'm going to start with 16. But as soon as I click, OK, you won't actually see anything and it can happen. That's because we only change the options off the blending. Not we didn't create the bland itself. So what we could do is we could simply go right now. Go to the object, go bland, and then just go make. But if you don't want to do that, we could simply with the blend tool active, simply click on this guy to the left and this guy to direct actually bland these guys together. And if you are happy with the result, well, you can leave it like that. But if you're not, you could simply go back to the bland options. So I'm going to simply double click on the blend tool. And now I can hit the preview and I can change the number off the off the way so I can go really, really crazy, like 50. If that's something that you're looking for part, that's not something that I am looking for. I think I am going to go with something that about 25 this should do. And what's great about that is that these guys are simple shapes. So if I want, I can simply maybe make him just a bit Justin. But smaller just like that. And now we find Zoom back out. You can see that we are that we got our island recreated 14. In Conclusion: So in this thing, this project we learned how to use how to use some warping techniques, how to use the blending and some really simple but powerful transformations. So first we created the leaves. So we used Theologian stool and then we copied and pasted them in front and then transformed them. Were you reflected, Believes and called the damage to the left. Then we created the stamina with with the arch functions. We went to the Effect menu warp. And then we used the Archer option right here, and we used the flag option of from the from the war per functions to create to create the race. Remember, we created the flame race right here. Of course. We we rotated and copied them at the same time in relation to our to our middle part of the sun. Then we created the clouds. We created them using the Ellipse. Still some Pathfinder operations and we way we put them here onto our background. And then we created our background. So we simply divided the Ellipse into two parts and we added the radiant to the to the background to the sky. Actually, then we created the island with the Ellipse stool and we added Teoh shading with the rectangle tool. And the last thing we did was we created these waves using the powerful, powerful, bland toe. So there you go. I hope you will learn. You learn a thing or two. I actually help you. Hope you learned a lot from this project. And I hope you liked it. Definitely comment on it. And, as usual, see you in the next design.
