About This Class

Hi and welcome to the communications plugins class, which believe it or not, looks at plugins which can be used to communicate with your students more effectively.    The first lesson in the communications class is the ForumNG plugin, a plugin designed to make Forums easier to use and manage.  I will show learners how to download, install and configure this plugin, and show users some of the advanced features such as pinning discussions and flagging threads.  The re-engagement plugin allows you to send emails to students to remind them to engage with content on the course.  I shall show learners how to install and configure this great plugin in the next lesson in the communications plugins class. The people plugin is up next - a block that can be added to any course page and displays information about teachers on the course, along with the tutor email and a student participant list.  The final lesson of this class will cover the newsletter plugin - a great plugin for sending, organising and subscribing staff and students to newsletters.  The plugin allows the creation of css style sheets, so that you can customise your newsletters, and I will show learners all aspects of this wonderful plugin.  The class will finish with an examples lesson, designed to show users examples of each communication plugin and the various uses of each.    I highly recommend using your Bitnami Moodle site to test and try all of the plugins within the communications plugins class.   This class contains a lot of content, and if you experience any difficulties as you move through the class, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I then moved on to work as a Learning Technologies officer for Coventry University London Campus, and then a Virtual Learning Environment Manager during my 4 years a...
