It's a great class for people who are new to watercolor. The teacher goes into depth (perhaps at times a bit lengthy) so if you don't have any background in watercolor this is a good class to start the journey. Types of paints, brush suggestions, paper discussions (though doesn't get into much depth regarding papers, i.e. hot press vs cold press, paper weights). I found myself fast forwarding through the long painting processes of circles and bars so that's always an option if you want to go a bit faster than she does. Three things that were a distraction were the background noises in her videos, her fingernail polish (I found myself paying more attention to her fingers at times than her painting techniques) and the way she doesn't look at the camera when she's in the videos speaking to the students.
This class was so much fun and I learned a lot about new techniques to try in watercolor. At first, I thought it went a bit slow so I skipped ahead but once I saw where she was going with the lesson I went back to review the beginning. I have a mix of professional and cheap watercolors and I found out new ways to make them work together. In fact many of my inexpensive paints work very well in these projects. Now I'd like to get into the inks as well.
My name is Ana Victoria Calderón, and I’m an American/Mexican artist based in Mexico City. I have a degree in Graphic Design with continued studies in Fine Arts. Over the past 5 years I have developed a signature watercolor technique, which I am very excited to share with you here today!
I teach a few in person workshops a year, sell my art prints and product online and work with great clients such as Galison, Papyrus, Up With Paper, Studio Oh!, Demdaco and Design Design!
